Through thorns to a solo career

Having settled into the right circles, Zhanna got a job as a soloist in the group “Postscriptum” (as the group “Bravo” was originally called). A year later, in 1984, a campaign against rock musicians began in the country, during which the police at one of the concerts began checking the documents of everyone present. It was then that Zhanna was found to have a fake passport. First, she was sent to Butyrskaya prison, then sent to the Institute of Forensic Psychiatry, where, however, a month later she was declared sane, and then sent to logging in the Tyumen region for a year and a half. She returned to Moscow as a victim of the fading regime, which increased her rating in the rock community. There were no problems with returning to the stage, to my native team (now with the name “Bravo”). And a fateful meeting with Alla Pugacheva opened the way for Zhanna to a solo career.

What about personal?

For the first time, Zhanna married an oceanologist. Their relationship occurred during the time that the girl spent in prison. The husband made every effort to shorten her stay in prison as much as possible. However, the marriage did not turn out to be very happy, because soon after her liberation it “turned out” that Zhanna was an alien, and her husband, although with a romantic profession, was still quite an earthling.

Having separated from her husband, Zhanna found solace in the arms of Bravo bassist Timur Murtuzaev, but this relationship did not last long. Then, at one of the national concerts, I met producer Nick Poltoranin. They immediately liked each other and did not part for many years.

At one point, Zhanna decided that she felt cramped in the vastness of the former USSR, and set off to conquer America. True, for this it was necessary to divorce her first husband, who, however, was even happy to give Zhanna a divorce. She went to the States with Nick.

Needed where was born

At first, everything went well for the young couple. Having decent savings, they did not deny themselves anything and had fun, staying in the best hotels and dining in expensive restaurants. But when the question of employment arose, their fervor diminished.

Zhanna was not hired on the radio because of her Russian accent. The pop scene also did not submit to her. I had to go to daily work in Russian-emigrant restaurants. By 1996, she realized that she was not going to become a celebrity in America. She missed her lucky chance - but there was one! - when the famous composer and producer Brian Eno visited her performance. He decided to promote a singer with an interesting image and vocals, but... the deal fell through due to Zhanna’s inappropriate behavior. He literally smothered Brian with his “love”, although he was happily married and even had grandchildren.

Having given up on her dream, Zhanna called her friends in Moscow, who told her about the rise in show business in Russia and offered to return. Zhanna did just that, but her common-law husband Nick Poltoranin decided to get a residence permit and remained in the United States. That's where we parted.

Now Zhanna lives and works in Russia, and often travels to America, where she also has a home. He performs in clubs, performing old repertoire, and enjoys painting.

As for children, it’s hardly worth believing Nick, who once said that Zhanna would never become a mother due to her painful addiction to drugs.
