Childhood and youth
Voronezh cannot be called the capital of fashion, but it was there that the future style guru was born in 1981. And the boy’s childhood was spent in the Tula region, where he went to an ordinary rural school, but he himself was never ordinary. Difference from peers was manifested in a bright image and a desire to stand out and express oneself. Sasha was a ringleader and a leader, and at the same time he was an excellent student, mastering the natural sciences and humanities with equal success.

Alexander Rogov and his sister Yulia
The medical mother wanted her son to follow in her footsteps, and Rogov for the time being was preparing to become a doctor, although at the same time he dreamed of a career as an artist, and was also seriously studying foreign languages. It is clear that more than one door opened for the graduate who won the silver medal. He chose the Department of Foreign Languages at Tula Pedagogical University.
Alexander Rogov's wife - photo
At the moment, the priority for the stylist is his work activity - his personal life comes in second place. Many people think when Alexander Rogov and his wife will appear together in public, however, this should not be expected in the very near future, since the popular stylist is single. The thing is that Alexander leads a very fast-paced lifestyle: he has a constant job, catwalks, shows, and participation in various events. With such a schedule, there is practically no time left for personal life. When he has a free moment - Rogov spends it with his friends and his sister - he has practically no time to go to his native Tula to visit his parents.
Another argument in favor of the fact that Alexander Rogov and his wife will never appear in public are rumors about his sexual orientation. It just so happens in our country that male stylists are almost always suspected of being gay.
In addition, photographs of him often appear on the Internet next to a guy named Alexander Ivanov. He is also involved in fashion and styling, and is believed to be a runway model. Fans of Alexander Rogov suspect that this is his boyfriend.
The stylist himself has repeatedly stated that he and Alexander Ivanov are connected only by friendly feelings. But Rogov does not give a clear answer to the question of his orientation. If fans’ assumptions are correct, then probably no one will see a photo of Alexander Rogov’s wife in a wedding dress and he will not have children born naturally.
Perhaps interesting: Evgeniy Zhuk’s wife, Artik’s wife.
Fashion and television
In the capital, Alexander began working on the TNT channel, since 2003 participating in the filming of such programs as “Hunger” and “Nanny to the Rescue.” However, despite the prospects in the media industry, 2 years later Rogov decides to change his professional vector. Thus, a new name appears in the Russian fashion space, which quickly gains authority.

Stylist Alexander Rogov
The stylist collaborates with top glossy magazines, develops special projects for global brands, and oversees the image of stars. In 2008, Alexander manages to combine both professions: he returns to television, but this time as a fashion expert.
With the participation of men, the shows “Style Guide”, “Shopaholics”, “Reboot”, “Catch in 24 Hours” are created. Rogov is recognized as the most stylish TV presenter, he is included in the lists of the most prominent people in Russian fashion, and a full-fledged book is being published from the designer’s pen.
Stylist projects
As soon as Alexander moves to Moscow, his colleagues at Posner’s school invite him to take part in the filming of the reality show “Hunger” in Germany. The guy took the position of assistant director. The program became famous not only in Russia, but also abroad. Two years later, he again visited the filming of the second season of this program, this time in New York.
After returning from America, he begins to get interested in photography. The first time he conducted a photo shoot for the famous model from Belarus Marina Linchuk. He sent the pictures to the fashion magazine Menu, where he was hired for a permanent position. The next two years he devoted his life to the camera together with Natalya Arefieva. During the same period, he takes part in the creation of commercials and videos, and conducts presentations of famous perfume brands. Gradually he becomes recognizable on the street and among celebrities. The first time in Moscow was difficult for him, there was not enough money, he even had to steal food from stores, his parents helped him stay afloat.
The real breakthrough occurred in Moscow during the week of the fashion show, where our hero decided to commit a small scam. The young man introduced himself as a representative of Street Fashion, a popular stylist from Germany. Given his excellent knowledge of languages, the deception was a success. After that, he was invited to the position of stylist in the famous magazine “Fashion Collection”.
The whole world instantly learned about him and opened the doors to television for him. Alexander was invited to play the role of presenter in the “Shopaholics” program on the MTV channel. This was followed by his work on TNT “Cinderella. Reboot”, on the international channel TLC “Mothers and Daughters”. This period lasted from 2008 to 2014. In 2011, he starred in the serial film “Great Expectations.” In 2013 he opened his personal clothing brand, which is currently in high demand.
In 2014, he auditioned for the position of presenter in the program “Catch in 24 Hours” on the STS channel, where he creates unique images in a team of professionals for a certain period of time. After that, there were projects on STS Love. In 2020 he published his first book, “Style Guide”.
Conducts master classes of his creativity among young stylists. I recently created my own YouTube channel, where I share useful tips with subscribers.
The personal life of stylist Alexander Rogov is hidden in a thick veil of secrecy; there are many rumors floating around him about his sexual orientation. But he does not comment on them and directs all his efforts to creating his own name. Now at the age of 37, he is one of the brightest representatives of domestic celebrities and a popular stylist.
Alexander Rogov now
Now Alexander remains in demand in the industry. He is involved in television projects, designs clothing models, helps show business stars work on their image, while simultaneously providing professional consultations for everyone. You can get Rogov’s advice at master classes, the schedule of which is presented on the official website. The current collections that are sold in the designer’s online store are also displayed there.

Alexander Rogov, Ekaterina Kuznetsova, Olga Buzova, Alexander Belkevich, Evgeniy Papunaishvili and Sergey Shnurov in the show “Fort Boyard”
From the stylist’s Instagram, fans will learn new facts about his biography. For example, in the fall of 2020, he participated in the return of the show “Fort Boyard” to Russian screens, where Olga Buzova and other stars became his team partner. Alexander demonstrated fearlessness and good shape (with a height of 182 cm, the man does not have a hint of excess weight).
TV presenter Alexander Rogov: “The main fashion trend is the absence of sweat odor”
In an interview with the Myslo portal, Alexander told what he would do in case of quarantine, how he feels about fashion trends and why he does not want to meet with the previous Tula participant in his show.
"Quarantine? Finally I'll be home"
— Alexander, has the situation with coronavirus affected the filming schedule of the program?
— I am very skeptical about this topic. But, unfortunately, we have become victims of all this information fuss. We were forced to go to Milan, it was postponed indefinitely. Now we are waiting for a decision from the channel and the Moscow authorities on quarantine. If travel is prohibited, “Rogov in the City” will turn into “Rogov in Moscow” for some period. I’ll tell Tula one of the secrets: the autumn season, in principle, assumed that the episodes would be unexpected every time - these included regional trips and Moscow episodes with unusual characters. Maybe this whole virus story will become our rehearsal for the Moscow series in a new mode.
— Have your personal plans been disrupted?
— They failed, I was forced to cancel several trips. For my birthday on March 29, I was supposed to fly to Dubai, but I decided not to go because I couldn’t afford a two-week quarantine after returning. The trip to Paris has been cancelled, now I’m wondering if my June vacation will be cancelled. There is no point in complaining about the situation; it is a fact that must be accepted without hysteria and panic. I look for the positive in everything: this is a great reason to take care of myself, stay at home more, and breathe out a little.
“I don’t even want to remember the first episode from Tula”
— Why did you decide to film the program in Tula for the second time?
— This has already been practiced in our show: the second episode from Rostov-on-Don was recently released, because the first episode became the highest rated of the entire “Rogov”, and we wanted to show how the life of our heroine turned out, which touched the whole country, and at the same time transform new girl.
The first episode in Tula turned out to be scandalous and extremely resonant (The heroine of the episode, Natalya, unpleasantly surprised the presenter with an untidy apartment and did not hide her dissatisfaction with the result of the transformation. - Author's note). It was not staged, everything happened in reality mode, and the fact that the heroine turned out to be specific was purely a coincidence. We showed them and even spruced up the episode a little: if the show had aired on another channel, this episode would have been 20 times tougher.
We decided to return to Tula with revenge, show even more interesting places in the city, find another heroine with her own story. By the way, her name is also Natasha, and I was afraid that the previous “success” would repeat itself. But her house is clean, that's the first thing I checked. And thank God, things are going differently now.
And at the same time, I am grateful to fate for the first Tula episode and am glad that it happened. As a person I was offended, but as a TV producer I clapped my hands because such content doesn’t just fall on the road.
And the audience saw that we have an honest show, and I am not always an angel with wings, but a person with my own opinion, who can be quite tough and put in place.
— Will you show the audience the fate of the previous Tula heroine?
- No, we decided not to contact her. We know what negativity remains in her head, although she could have reacted completely differently to what happened. At the end of the program, behind the scenes, I offered her the opportunity to rehabilitate herself for what happened at the beginning, to say some important words: that she accepted criticism, that after I left she cleaned the apartment. But she didn’t find these words. On air, I gave her a cleaning certificate with the hope that she would refuse it. I was sure that she, like any sane person, would say: “This gift humiliates me, I will put my apartment in order myself and send you a photo report.” That would be cool.
I had an idea to at least call Natasha, but it seems to me that this is an incident that is better not to remember. But they cleaned her apartment thoroughly, and it cost us 5 times more than we expected.
— How do you select heroines for the show?
— We are looking for interesting characters, and our first Tula heroine, Natasha, showed herself to be just that in a Skype interview: she is smart, speaks foreign languages, speaks well and is absolutely not a fool. We went to see her as an interesting person, but everyday circumstances and her reaction came as a complete surprise, so I may have reacted aggressively. But these are live emotions that we want to give to the viewer. Everything in the show is real, and the more unpredictably events develop and the characters behave, the better.
— Do you have a goal to change something in the heroines’ heads, or is this dressing up for one evening?
- Of course, there is, this is the main goal of the program, and clothing is exclusively a method and a tool. For our heroines, a switch really goes off, they change, and this is a proven fact, because we maintain relationships with many and know what is happening in their lives.
It is important for us that the heroine changes internally, and does not come to the show only for consumer purposes, so that she can be shown on TV and given clothes as a gift.
— In each city, a local beauty team helps you. How do you select specialists, and who works with today’s heroine in Tula?
— Always in different ways: through Instagram or on the recommendations of Moscow specialists. In Tula, my sister, who is a fairly respected person in the event industry, was helping me now (Alexandra’s sister Yulia Chasovskikh is a famous photographer. - Author’s note). She said: “Sasha, I won’t let it happen like last time, that’s why I’m looking for the team.” I trusted her recommendations. By the way, my old friend Dima Ivanenko, with whom we have not communicated since 2003, became a hairdresser.
— Do you always like the result of the transformation?
- No, very soon an episode will be aired where I did not accept the job. This is the first episode in the entire season when I couldn’t remain silent and didn’t present the masters with statuettes for our show. I can grit my teeth and accept work when there are only small nuances that the viewer won’t even notice. But when the mistakes are serious, I have no right to “swallow” them. I was waiting for a very long time for an episode in which something like this would happen, I myself was wondering how I would react and how I would get out. It turned out soft and not as painful as I thought.
In one of the Tula photo studios, the TV project team filmed the heroine trying on a new wardrobe.
— How much does it cost to change your image?
— We spend 60-80 thousand rubles on a wardrobe, a haircut and coloring in a good salon cost 10-15 thousand, makeup plus 2-2.5 thousand rubles. Plus the arrival of the film crew, editing, broadcasting - the episode turns out to be very expensive, and the hero gets everything for free simply for giving us the opportunity to tell his story.
“Kicked out of the Kremlin for waving a flag”
— Do you consider Tula your city?
— I never had the feeling that I was from Tula: I always knew that I would go to live in Moscow, this is absolutely my city 100%. I was born in Voronezh, I did not live in Tula, but in a small village in the suburbs, here I just studied at the institute. Therefore, there was no feeling that I was from Tula and had strong ties with the city. It always seemed to me that Tula was hostile towards me; I never felt safe or at ease here. Although the years at the university were a wonderful time, my friends and I did a cool television project, which no one repeated after us, we had an incredible build-up in terms of get-togethers, parties and the development of youth culture. By the way, in Tula today I was kicked out of the Kremlin for waving a flag with the logo of the Rogov in the City program. It was so tactless and ugly.
The flag episode is filmed in every city. Photo courtesy of STS TV channel.
I am not promoting the show, but I invite everyone to Tula to see the beauty of the city and the Kremlin. We would be glad that we came a second time and showed the city from its best side.
— Do you like the way Tula women dress?
“I don’t like to judge a city by people and people by a city.” Everywhere there are fashionistas and those who don’t care what they look like, there are slobs and neat people everywhere. The question is who can I meet on the street at the moment. Every city has something special, but it’s easier to shoot in small towns: they’re more welcoming and more people are willing to help you. For example, today in a Tula store they simply gave us a certificate for 20 thousand rubles, and I bought the heroine much more clothes than I planned. People were simply pleased to give such a gift to me and the heroine who lives here.
— There is an opinion that the deeper the province, the brighter the girls.
— In the provinces, all global trends appear a little later. Now the trend is towards naturalness, and in many regions theatricality is still in fashion - eyelash extensions, hair, tattoos, complicated makeup, completely irrelevant for daytime. For 8 years now we have been shouting from all screens “don’t get eyelash extensions and know what is appropriate,” but if a person lives in harmony with his eyelashes, hair and lips, then he has every right to be like that.
Alexander Rogov: “We wanted to film the beginning of the program at the Tula stele at the entrance to the city, but we accidentally passed it. And when we visited our heroine in Myasnovo, I remembered that in this area there is Rogova Street. The Tula series “Horns in the City” will begin here.” Photo www.instagram.com/alexandrrogov.

“To do fashion in Russia, you need to be a hero”
— When did you realize that fashion was your path?
— The profession chose me itself. There was no such thing that it dawned on me and I realized what I wanted to do. Initially my motivation was vanity, I admit it: I always wanted to be visible, to be known. I always wanted to be on TV, I dreamed of working as a DJ on a music channel, reading summaries for video clips - that would have more than suited me. But at some point, an interest in fashion and clothing arose, and these two great interests—television and fashion—were intertwined in the “Rogov in the City” project.
I like the “kitchen”, the preparation of the program, the filming process, the transformation, editing, the goosebumps in front of the mirror at the end of each program. I've been opening mirrors for 10 years, and every time I get goosebumps. When they stop coming, I'll just leave and do something else, I have a lot of interests. But now this is what I do with great pleasure, despite the difficult schedule. I'm enjoying myself.
— What do you think about men’s runway looks with lace and heels?
— The boundaries between masculine and feminine in fashion are blurring, this is a new direction when clothes have no gender, and I like it. For example, I am currently wearing clothes that can be worn by both men and women - a knitted sweater, black trousers and high boots with buckles.
Alexander Rogov: “Our makeup artist, a girl, saw my boots and squealed: “God, I want those too!” It is clear that my dad would not wear them, but he would gladly take my sweater. Photo www.instagram.com/alexandrrogov.
As for lace and guipure on men, everything should be organic and appropriate. This can be worn to a carnival, costume party or in a certain society where such images are not frowned upon. Everyone has the right to look the way they want as long as it doesn't violate another person's boundaries.
Naturally, you won’t see any lace panties or tights on men in the near future on the streets of Tula.
But I assure you: there are those who will gladly wear them and have fun with their friends. And I think you know who it is.
— How is your clothing brand doing now?
“It’s experiencing incredible growth.” At the same time, I’m not going to take it to a new level of momentum and scaling, because that would require producing commercial clothing, not something interesting. Being a small local brand that produces 10-12 jackets with unusual cuts gives me the opportunity to do what I like and not try to please the public. I don't want to lose the magic.
Items from the spring-summer collection of the ROGOV brand. Photo www.instagram.com/rogovshop.
The brand is living at its own expense for the second year, I no longer invest millions in it, as in the first four years, but I don’t earn a penny from it either. Well, thank God, I will earn money in other places, but my team gets paid, and I do what I enjoy.
Alexander Rogov: “There are many interesting projects ahead. We had a serious collaboration with Carlo Pazolini, and we will soon launch a collaboration on jeans with a local Moscow brand.” Photo www.instagram.com/rogovshop.
I want my website to become a kind of department store, a platform for selling small local brands of accessories and those things that we do not produce ourselves. I want to support those who create something interesting.
In general, people who are involved in fashion in Russia are simply heroes. In a country where there is no fashion industry and support for manufacturers, this is an extremely selfless and unrequited job. I hope that sooner or later someone will appear in power who will do something smart for our fashion - the development of light industry, the production of fabrics or the possibility of purchasing them without customs clearance. Previously, all this happened in our country.
— Alexander, you don’t like to talk about trends, and yet, what things should be taken off and burned this spring?
- Take off and burn smelly, dirty, worn-out things, and put on clean and fragrant ones. And live within your means. You can buy the latest fashions from the catwalk and look tasteless in them, but there are people with a budget like a fool, but with great imagination and the ability to look like superstars even in second-hand items. It doesn’t matter whether these clothes are trendy or not, the main thing is that they reveal the inner strength of a person and tell a story about him.
Trends don’t matter at all, it’s a marketing ploy to make you and I want to buy something every season. That's why we get "135 Dresses You Can't Live Without" magazine covers. You can live wonderfully without these dresses. I believe that you need to take a shower, brush your teeth, take care of your face and love yourself, and it doesn’t matter what you’re wearing. The main component of the image is the absence of the smell of sweat and bad breath.
If a person stinks, even diamonds from Graff and all the Balenciaga of the world will not save him. The main thing in the image is hygiene.
The episode of “Horns in the City” with a new Tula heroine will be aired on STS on April 12.

“Friends always laughed at my style”
Tanya, are you interested in fashion?
I'm from a small town where no one thinks about current things. When I moved to Yekaterinburg, life, of course, changed, but my habits remained. It is more important for me to renovate the bathroom than to buy a new thing.
But what about the burning look of her husband and the example of a bright mother for her daughter in the future?
I think about it all the time. But my grandmother says that everything suits me, thanks to my height of 175 cm and slim physique. And even if you put on yellow tights or an orange jacket, you still look beautiful to your loved ones.
How did people react to the orange jacket?
I had a friend who couldn't stand my style. Let’s say I put on the same yellow tights, and then a strange Dolce&Gabbana collection comes out, to which she sends me a link with the words: “Oh, Tanya, you’re on trend!”
In general, I often heard from friends: “Peretolchina, I should burn all your things in the fire!” Such jokes are only funny at the beginning, but then they become no longer funny. I began to compare myself with others, complexes appeared, and I was ashamed to go outside.
Personal
The personal life of Alexander Rogov is hidden under lock and key. The stylist never advertises who he is dating. Naturally, this side of a famous personality always excites fans. The lack of photographs confirming orientation and the presence of a passion in the media and on personal pages on social networks prompts Alexander’s fans to ask many questions: “Gay or straight?”, “Do you have a wife or boyfriend?”, “How many children?” It is absolutely known that Rogov is not yet married and has no children. Wikipedia and similar resources do not disclose other intimate data.
Video:
Do they really throw away old things or return them, but ask them not to wear them?
The film crew actually helped collect them in garbage bags. We threw away 3-4 bags! Sasha hasn’t gotten to his work things yet, but I already threw them away myself after the project.
He left me one beautiful dress and praised two tights - burgundy and dark green. He also left two skirts, but ordered me to wear them only to the beach.
Did he ask about your clothing preferences?
Me: Comfort and warmth.
Rogov: What about in the summer?
Me: If only you lived in Yekaterinburg, you would understand what it’s like to be cold 11 months a year.
As a result, my looks include both sneakers and boots, plus the clothes do not restrict movement. He was inspired by Kate Moss. And all my daily disheveledness used to be now a plus for my style.
Didn't anything hurt or offend you?
No! His manner of communication cannot offend. When Sasha just came in, he said: “Tanya, don’t worry, everything will be fine now. We’ll shoot here, then there – it’ll be great!” Any word he said about my item evoked only positive emotions, even when he called my favorite dress a child’s one.
