Adnan Koç was born in the ancient Turkish city of Mardin. His father owned his own auto repair shop, and his mother ran a household and raised children, of whom the Koch couple had nine. Adnan was born seventh and had three sisters and five brothers.

The actor recalls that he, as the youngest child, had to wear clothes and shoes for the rest of his brothers, and also experienced some of the disadvantages of having older and stronger kids in the family. But Adnan was lucky to have a father who always found a warm word and showed sensitivity and care to his offspring and to all the children in the block.
Unfortunately, Adnan Koch's father passed away when he was nine years old. The future actor had to work hard with his brothers in the family workshop, and music became the main entertainment in his life. The boy learned to play musical instruments and performed folk songs.

When Adnan Koç turned 20, he was drafted into the army. Two years later, the young man was demobilized, but did not return to his native Mardin, but went to Istanbul to begin a professional musical career. At that time, Adnan didn’t even think about filming a movie. But his friends began to convince him that he had all the necessary external data to interest directors and producers.
The last straw was the fact that one day a man approached Adnan on the subway, introduced himself as the owner of an acting agency and handed him a business card. Adnan Koç realized that this was fate and decided to try his hand at cinema. True, the guy turned to another agency, the more prestigious Tümay Özokur, where he immediately received his first job offer. Adnan was not hindered by the lack of professional education and experience in participating in amateur productions. Koç gained knowledge of the necessary acting skills during filming and applied them skillfully.

The first film in the creative biography of Adnan Koch was the film “Black Castle” from the series of programs “History of the Hometown”. The actor managed to prove his worth and over the course of two years appeared in twelve more films of this project.
In 2011, the military-biographical melodrama “The Magnificent Century”
, in which Adnan Koç played the role of Bahram Pasha. In addition to him, Turkish stars Halit Ergench, Meryem Uzerli, Engin Ozturk and others were involved in the film. The series was popular in its native country, so it was shown in several dozen European countries, including Ukraine and Russia. And everywhere Turkish actors were received with delight.

Koç played the main role of fertility doctor Kemal. In Istanbul, the doctor meets a Russian woman, Tatyana, whose role is played by the Russian and Ukrainian actress Evgenia Loza. Since most of the scenes were filmed on Ukrainian territory, Adnan Koch visited Kyiv and other cities. But some scenes were filmed in Turkey.

It is interesting that the filming process has already started, and not a single actor has been approved for the role of Kemal: director Denis Eleonsky was not happy with any candidate. And then the Russian actress Anna Varpakhovskaya, who plays Tatyana’s mother, remembered that she watched the TV series “The Magnificent Century” and liked one of the characters. Episodes with Adnan's participation were cut, and the project management approved the Turkish actor for this role. Subsequently, it turned out that Koch was more than optimally suited for this image.

The series “East-West” is a non-classical love story between a man and a woman. Not only destinies intertwine here, but also different cultures, way of life, and languages.
According to the plot, Tatyana (actress Evgenia Loza - approx. Woman.ru) from her youth dreamed of an ideal marriage and children. But years have passed, and the cherished happiness in life has not come: marriage has not brought joy for a long time, and attempts to conceive a child have not been crowned with success. Gathering her will into a fist, Tatiana and her husband go to Istanbul for an appointment with the famous reproductive specialist Kemal (actor Adnan Koç - approx. Woman.ru). Some time later, Tatyana finds out that she is pregnant, but she is not sure that her husband is the father of the child...
As you already understand, the series promises to be exciting and intriguing. Moreover, it is based on real events. The director of the project, Denis Eleonsky, states that “East-West” is not like a typical series about love - it raises many issues of culture and morality. Also, a special pride for the director is the fact that it is impossible to predict the action of the plot, and each episode leaves more questions than answers. Having watched the first two episodes, we confidently declare that this is so.
Filming took place in Ukraine and Turkey. The actors are also divided in half - Russians and Turks play in the series.
Interesting fact: according to the plot of the series, Kemal, played by Adnan Koç, speaks excellent Russian. In reality, the actor knows only a few phrases in our language and, moreover, does not even speak English.
“What about the language barrier?” - you ask. We were also interested...
Evgenia Loza: Honestly, at first it was very difficult. The first week of working with Adnan was not easy for both of us. We tried to understand each other. Over time, speaking different languages has become the norm for us.
“In general, we had a system - we learned not only our text, but also our partner’s lines. And while each of us pronounced his words, the second one spoke them to himself in his native language. I admit, there were misunderstandings, but we found a way to overcome all these difficulties.”
Adnan Koç: Before participating in the series, I only knew basic words: (speaking Russian) excellent, good, thank you, goodbye. However, during filming, like it or not, you still absorb the linguistic characteristics of the people around you. Today I understand a lot and can even say a few phrases in Russian.
Woman.ru: How quickly did you agree to participate in the filming of such an international series?
E.L.: Personally, I agreed immediately. True, at the time of the audition I had doubts, because I did not quite understand what awaited me. To some extent, the history itself scared me - the mixture of Eastern and Slavic cultures. I already had something similar in the series “Trace of the Salamander”. When I was approved for the role, I still read the script to the end and realized that it had hooked me. And this is the most important thing. I hope the viewer will have the same emotions after watching it.
A.K.: We have very close relations with the Russians. Your viewer knows me from the series “The Magnificent Century,” so I hope that this project will be received very warmly. I also agreed to filming, almost without hesitation. At that time, I was filming another film and really wanted to get a role abroad. And I’m glad that such an offer came.
Woman.ru: Did you work well together?
A.K.: It was great!
“Zhenya is a good girl. She is a wonderful person, a wonderful actress, and also very beautiful. What's important is that she knows her job. We coincided energetically, I hope the viewer will feel this when watching “East-West”.
E.L.: On my own behalf, I also want to say that Adnan is a wonderful person. He is beautiful both externally and internally. Intelligent, sensual, friendly, very subtle nature. Adnan is a very convenient partner, so to speak. He is easy to work with. And even the language barrier did not become a hindrance to us.
Woman.ru: What is your attitude towards each other’s culture?
A.K.: I really like Russian culture. I especially admire your discipline; Russian girls are the most beautiful. And, of course, borscht! (Laughs).
E.L.: I respect any culture. My close friend is Muslim, and I am familiar with many of their traditions firsthand. But in principle, I think Turkish culture is very musical, colorful and energetic. Turks are sensual, colorful and hot people, and this certainly attracts attention.
Woman.ru: Adnan, in your homeland you are not only a famous actor, but also a popular singer. Which type of activity do you gravitate towards more?
A.K.: Imagine that you have two children. You love them equally, you raise them, they are both important to you. This is exactly the same way I feel about my two brainchildren – music and acting, and I can’t choose one of them. I like to do both. By the way, as part of the series I will also perform two of my songs.
Woman.ru: Zhenya, what was the most difficult thing for you while filming?
E.L.: “I won’t lie, the filming itself in Turkey was difficult for me. These are weather conditions and a culture that is different from ours.”
There were also difficulties with gastronomic preferences, and Adnan faced the same problem when filming in Ukraine. But in fact, now, after the passage of time, only good things are remembered.
A.K.: During this time, we became one family, so even after filming is over, we keep in touch with each other.
E.L.: Yes, even now I want to remember some difficulties, conflicts, and this all probably happened, but today all the negative things have been erased from my memory, because there were more emotional, family and joyful moments. Nothing goes smoothly, the main thing is the aftertaste that remains. And it is very pleasant.
Woman.ru: Would you like the series to have a continuation?
E.L.: I would like to only because I myself am interested in how the fate of the main characters will develop in the future. There is no final point in the series, and I think many will want to know how Tatyana’s life will turn out.
A.K.: Why not? It all depends on whether the viewer likes our series.

Adnan Koç lives not only in the world of cinema. The artist does not forget about the music that he adores since childhood and for which he moved to the capital. The man regularly gives concerts and records video clips that are shown on television.
In 2007, Adnan recorded his first solo studio album, “Yolculuğa Davet,” and eight years later, the mini-disc “Merak Etme” was released, containing five new compositions and one remix of the most popular song. Adnan Koç performed the title song “Merak Etme” in a duet with Turkish pop star Izel.
Professional activity
The first serious work for Adnan was the film “Black Castle”. The actor immediately managed to establish himself in the film industry. They began to invite him to shoot various films. The most famous of which were:

Actor and musician Adnan Koç knew his future wife, whose name is Dilek, for many years. Even in their youth, they were close friends, and many years later they realized that they had far more than just friendly feelings for each other. The wedding took place in 2011, and a year later a son, Mehmet Efe, was born into the family.
Double names among Turkish children are not as common as, for example, in English or Spanish culture. The actor explained this choice by the fact that Mehmet is the name of his father, whom the actor loved very much, and Adnan Koç’s wife dreamed of a son with the name Efe. As a result, the couple decided that a double name would be appropriate in this case.

Dilek, who works as a dermatologist, supported her husband in his creative endeavors. The woman was calm about her husband’s on-screen partners and did not react to gossip in the tabloids regarding Adnan Koch’s affairs on the side. The rumors about Koch’s alleged love affair with his partner in musical performances did not affect the relationship of the spouses. Compromising images hit the press in 2020. But then the union of Adnan and Dilek managed to survive.

According to Koch, he does not intend to remain single for long. The actor has repeatedly hinted that he admits the possibility of marrying a Russian girl. He knows examples of such marriages. Observing the development of relationships among friends, Adnan concluded that family relationships between representatives of different cultures are possible. In addition, according to Koch, in his youth he had a strong passion for a Russian woman. As a sign of love, the young man even made a tattoo on his hand with the girl’s name.
Beginning of acting career and fame outside Turkey
The young man dreamed of musical activity, but soon an unexpected turn occurred in his fate. Even then, friends advised him to try his hand at cinema, however, his acting career began quite by accident. While on the subway, Adnan ran into a representative of an agency who convinced him to try his hand at this field. Soon he was offered to play in the large-scale project “Land of Stories”. Despite the lack of acting education, the young man was able to cope with his role, starring in 12 television films of this series. He then played a romantic young man in the film Heart Wounds, thanks to which his career began to grow.
A big success was the offer to star in the historical series “The Magnificent Century”, where Koch played a small role - Bahram Pasha. It is not surprising that his hero was able to charm viewers around the globe who wished to extend his participation in the project. After this work, the handsome man starred in the TV series “Fathers and Sons,” where his character is raising a little daughter alone, and then he was offered to create the image of a vizier’s assistant in the project “The Ancient Ottoman Empire.”
Despite his success and demand, Adnan dreamed of going international, and when he was given the opportunity to play the role of fertility doctor Kemal in the Russian-Turkish series “East-West,” he was very happy. His partner was Evgenia Loza, who played the Russian lover of his hero. When filming of this project had just begun, the actor knew almost no Russian, however, after a while he got used to it and learned to understand his Russian colleagues. In 2020, viewers saw the first season of the series, but already in 2020 the second season is scheduled to be released, which will be no less interesting and exciting.

In 2020, Adnan Koç got into criminal history. The artist was detained by the police during a special raid. Koch and five other people, who turned out to be his brothers and friends, were taken into custody
in an Istanbul cafe. Drugs were confiscated from the young people during the search. As it turned out later, drug dealer Sinan Bozburun was in company with Koch. The police caught the company purchasing drugs from a drug dealer.
Turkey has strict laws that impose severe penalties for drug distribution or use. If the fact of possession of prohibited funds by the detainees is proven, then the young people, including Adnan Koch, will receive 17 years in prison. But if involvement in the distribution of drugs is discovered, the convicts will face the death penalty.

— Adnan, we are glad to see you again in Kyiv. Tell us, what should viewers expect in the second season of the series?
- Expect surprises and shocking twists in the fate of the heroes. I am sure that the new season will surpass the first in terms of intensity of passions. Sometimes the storyline changes so quickly that we ourselves do not have time to track the sequence of events.
— During the filming of “Oriental Sweets 2” you lived in Ukraine for six months. And if we add to this time the period of filming in the first... Are you used to it?
— Ukraine has become a second home for me. I'm used to it, of course. Moreover, we developed very warm relations with the film crew and other actors. Despite the language barrier, I did not feel like a stranger. Moreover, with my partners - Zhenya Loza and Yakov Kucherevsky - we managed to joke without words. They understood each other at a glance. It costs a lot. Although I know some Russian words: thank you, borscht, okay...
— Did you miss your homeland at this time or were you able to fly home during breaks between filming?
— It was not possible to visit Turkey often. But there is Skype and mobile communications. You can always see and hear each other. So it turns out... In Ukraine, I missed Turkey, my family and friends. And in Turkey I miss Ukraine and my friends from here.
— How is your relationship with your co-star in the film, actress Evgenia Loza? People's rumors have already practically married you, especially after the news of your divorce from your wife...
— Zhenya is an amazing, amazing girl. I am sure that the man with whom she will connect her destiny will be incredibly happy. I even envy him a little, but... It’s definitely not me. We are good friends, I can always count on her professionalism in the frame and human support if needed. But there is no romantic relationship between us.
— Adnan, how do you personally see your character? Do you like Kemal?
“Kemal is a man who has a very big responsibility. First of all, get to work. He is a reproductive doctor - a person on whom the family happiness of patients depends. We all know the cost of medical errors. Secondly - for your family and friends. He has two families now. The first, in which he was born and raised, the second, which he created himself. What my character faces is probably the most difficult thing that can befall a person. These include health problems for loved ones, financial difficulties, and personal dramas. Sometimes the situations he finds himself in seem hopeless. But he manages to solve them. All this leaves an imprint on his character. That's why he is the way the audience sees him - deep, focused and confident. I'm used to Kemal. If you don't understand your character's motives, the movements of his soul, you cannot play convincingly, whether he is a hero or a villain. I have partly grown together with him and it is difficult for me to evaluate him from the outside. He exists, he is alive, he makes mistakes, he really wants to be happy and loves very much. And when a person truly loves, when he lives it, he cannot help but arouse sympathy.
