Actress Lyudmila Nilskaya: biography, film career and family

Actress born May 13, 1957 Lyudmila Nilskaya, which was able to enter the same river twice: to become famous first in the USSR, and then in modern Russia.

Lyudmila Nilskaya is an artist with a very unusual destiny. Born into a simple family in a small town in the Vladimir region, she quickly entered the Moscow Art Theater School. But that’s where the easy part of her biography ended. The girl faced life's ups and downs, worthy of a movie plot.

They decided to return him to his family!

Nilskaya was soon expelled from the Moscow Art Theater School: she failed the exam on the history of the CPSU, which in the seventies was considered almost a mortal sin for a citizen of the USSR.

But young Nilskaya did not despair and managed to enter the Boris Shchukin Theater School. After finishing it, Lyudmila began acting in the theater. Her fate on the stage turned out well. Things went even better in the cinema: in the eighties, Nilskaya became a real screen star. After the films “Melody for Two Voices”, “Petrovka, 38”, “Through Thorns to the Stars”, “Peaceful Summer of the Twenty-First Year”, everyone in the Union knew Nilskaya. During that period, as many of the actress’s colleagues now gossip, her affair broke out with actor Boris Shcherbakov , who was married at that moment, but promised her to leave the family. Nilskaya waited a long time, but the famous artist eventually remained in the family: largely due to the fact that party activists from the creative world got involved and decided to return the “walker” to his wife.

The actress did not intend to give up on her personal life. And just two months after her dramatic breakup with Shcherbakov, in 1983, Nilskaya married an unremarkable guy, Zhora. The couple had a son. Then, many years later, Nilskaya admits in an interview that initially there was no great love between them, but she believed that she would be able to build something. Many colleagues said that Nilskaya’s marriage was rather an escape from love for Shcherbakov.

Soon, the actress decides to leave the Union at the peak of her fame and emigrate to America. This decision had personal reasons: Georgy Isaev, the husband of Lyudmila Nilskaya , announced to his wife that there was nothing to do in the country in the nineties. He had to go to the West, where he intended to create his own business with the money raised from the sale of his wife’s Moscow apartment. The strange consent of the actress to leave everything in her homeland and go to nowhere in the USA, where Isaev - without knowledge of the language, without connections - will “build a business” can only be explained by recklessness. After all, Nilskaya’s husband didn’t have enough stars in the sky even in Moscow: when they met, Georgy was a driver, later Nilskaya got him a job as an administrator at the theater.

Personal life

In the early 80s, Lyudmila Nilskaya met Georgy Isaev, who at that time was a driver. It turned out that the man is a big fan of the actress’s talent. The young people began dating, and in 1983 they got married, although the actress later admitted that she did not feel love.

Nilskaya helped her husband get a job as an administrator at the theater, and when the Soviet Union ceased to exist, she agreed to her husband’s offer to sell her own apartment and move to America. By that time, a three-year-old son, Dmitry, was already growing up in the family of Lyudmila and George.

But the new country was in no hurry to bestow quick and easy benefits on its newly arrived citizens. The Soviet cinema star tried many professions, and after breaking up with Isaev, she took her teenage son and returned to Moscow. Later, Dmitry took his mother’s surname, not his father, who left the family for another woman. The young man was interested in sports, so he graduated from the Faculty of Management in Physical Culture and Sports.

Lyudmila Nilskaya never married again, although the actress had a number of short-lived affairs in her personal life. But none of these candidates for marriage were able to charm a woman to such an extent that she decided to start everything from the very beginning.

As a servant

Be that as it may, in 1994, the couple with their little son Dima emigrated to California. Isaev opens a car repair shop there, investing all the money they had. But, as was to be expected, Nilskaya’s husband went bankrupt at the moment. So the former movie star rushed to look for work. It was in the USSR that she was a screen star, but in Hollywood no one needed Russian actresses. Therefore, Nilskaya, stepping on the throat of her own ambitions, cleaned shopping centers, worked as a salesperson in a clothing store, etc.

Lyudmila even worked as a driver. The actress later recalled in an interview that one Russian emigrant, who hired Nilskaya as her personal driver, was very fond of humiliating her, emphasizing that here she was not a movie star, as in Moscow, but a servant of the rich.

But Nilskaya did not give up. She tried to run the household perfectly and did not let her husband despair; she supported him morally when he had constant depression and nervous breakdowns.

Georgy Isaev began to travel to Moscow more and more often: as he said, on business. And then he admitted to his wife that he had had someone else for a long time. And he can no longer be torn between two women. Lyudmila Nilskaya was left alone in America with a ten-year-old son in her arms.

Miraculous return

For two years after the breakup of her family, the former movie star tried to gain a foothold in the United States, but then she realized that she felt terrible in a foreign land and decided to return to her homeland. In 2003, Nilskaya and her son flew to Moscow. There was nowhere to live. Nilskaya borrowed money from friends and rented an apartment. Under pressure from her husband, she sold hers in 1994 to help him establish an American business.

Colleagues and friends seriously supported the actress. Sergei Prokhanov took her to the staff of the Luna Theater, and familiar directors began calling Nilskaya to play small roles in enterprises and television series. Life was getting better. Lyudmila could already pay for housing herself and helped her son get a good education: Dmitry is a student at the Russian State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism.

In 2008, acting success smiled on Lyudmila Nilskaya again. She got the main role in the television series “Galina” directed by Vitaly Pavlov . The actress played the daughter of General Secretary Leonid Brezhnev and received the prestigious Golden Eagle award for the film.

There is a lull in Lyudmila Nilskaya’s personal life today. She says in an interview that her husband’s affair with a young girl did not work out, and he tried to return to the family, but the actress did not accept him. Today Nilskaya admits that 20 years of an unsuccessful marriage was more than enough for her, and today she likes to live for herself and enjoy life. Fortunately, she is in demand in creativity, and viewers still remember and recognize her.
