HR Baxter

(German:
HP Baxxter
), real name
Hans Peter Geerdes
(German:
Hans Peter Geerdes
; born March 16, 1964[1][2], Lehr, Germany) is the vocalist and frontman of the German band “Scooter”. He founded this group in 1993 with Rick Jordan, Ferris Bueller and Jens Tele.

Biography, career

Hans Peter Gerdes was born and raised in a small town in northern Germany - Lehre. Since childhood, he was fond of music, but his preferences were radically different from his current ones - he did not like dance music, but was interested in performers such as Ritchie Blackmore and Billy Idol (whom he even began to imitate outwardly, having bleached his hair in the 1980s).

Baxter attended Law School for one semester, learning to trade. But in order to study music, he dropped out of school and went to work at a record company. However, then he still graduated from college and received a higher education[3]. In 1986, HP met musician Rick Jordan in Hanover. At the same time they organized the synth-pop group Celebrate The Nun. The group also included Baxter's sister, Britt Maxime, who created lyrics for the songs, performed backing vocals, and also sang 2 solo songs. Two of the band's songs took high places on the American Billboard dance charts. According to some reports, HP not only sang in the group, but also sometimes played the synthesizer.

Celebrate The Nun disbanded in 1991. Baxter and Rick lose sight of each other for 1.5 years. Baxter in Hamburg meets Jens Tele, who will soon become the founder and owner of Germany's largest dance label (Kontor Records). Around the same period, HP became acquainted with the work of the British techno group The KLF, and his views on music, which gravitated towards rock, a direction close to Depeche Mode, changed dramatically.

In 1993, Baxter and Rick reunited into the remix team The Loop!. Jens and Baxter's cousin Ferris Bueller also entered there. At the end of the year, when The Loop! at one of the concerts he presented to the public, in addition to remixes, several of his instrumental tracks, HP began to excite the crowd, shouting “Hyper! "Hyper!" This is how the famous debut single Scooter appeared. It was decided to organize a new group, which received this name. Baxter's further creative destiny is closely connected with the Scooter group, of which he is the face.

H.P. published the audiobook “Liest Erzahlungen Von Thomas Bernhard” on CD in 2004 as part of the “Reading Stars” project. There he reads stories in German by Thomas Bernhard, an Austrian writer. He also participated in a side musical project in 2005 and in 2007 in the project "80's Flashback" number 8 - Eisbär (Harris & HP Baxxter).

On July 30, 2009, while filming the video for “J'adore Hardcore” on the Spanish island of Mallorca, H.P. Baxter miraculously escaped death. Baxter contacted the Spanish police in connection with the robbery of his hotel room. There were no employees at the station who spoke English or German. In search of a translator, the musician went into one of the bars. Some time after his departure, a terrorist attack was committed at the police station, organized by the Basque group ETA. An explosion occurred in the city of Palma Nova in the afternoon. A car parked near a police station was blown up. Two policemen were killed and several more people were injured[4][5].

On January 25, 2013, HP released his first solo single entitled “Who The Fuck Is HP Baxxter?”, which was produced by an artist under the pseudonym Jerome. The work is performed in the “electro-house” genre, written specifically for Baxter’s solo club tour in 2013 “Who The Fuck Is HP Baxxter? Tour 2013". The tour takes place in different cities in Germany, and in tribute to HP, people began to wear special masks with Baxter's face. On June 8, Baxter performed in Moscow with a solo mix as part of his solo tour.

On June 28, 2013, a new single was released under the supervision of Baxter - Baxxter, Simon & DDY - Sweater Weather. The single was recorded without the participation of Rick Jordan, a member of the Scooter group. The single was recorded with the participation of H.P. Baxter, acts as a producer, member of the Scooter group Michael Simon and the famous young house artist Dirty Disco Youth. The vocals in the track belong to the singer Jaye Marshall, who already recorded vocal parts for Scooter on the last album of 2012 in a number of songs, including the hit 4 AM. A video clip was shot for this composition, without the participation of the musicians themselves, filmed in California.

HP Baxter

H.P. Baxter's childhood

Baxter was born in the town of Leer. His name is not HP, but Hans Peter. That's what his parents named him at birth. However, since school he was often called “HP”, shortening his name to the initial letters. The first person to call him by his “new” name was a chemistry teacher. He has been passionate about music since childhood. His idol was Billy Idol, as well as Ritchie Blackmore. To look like Idol, he, like him, bleached his hair. As a teenager, Hans Peter played in school bands, dreaming of becoming a famous musician.

The beginning of H.P. Baxter's musical career

After school, the young man studied for a semester to become an industrial trader, but decided to quit his studies and began working at one of the record companies. He still received higher education, but much later.

HP Baxter, as a young man, HP went to Hanover, where he was able to infiltrate musical circles, where he met Rick Jordan. Together with Rick and his sister, they formed a group, calling it "Celebrate The Nun". Britt Maxime (sister) wrote the lyrics and performed two songs herself. HP was the lead singer of this group, and also sometimes played the synthesizer. In 1991, the group broke up.

H.P. Baxter and the group "Scooter"

Scooter-how much is the fish About a year and a half later, Baxter met with Jordan again.
They decided to create another group, which included HP's cousin and Jens Tele. Interest in guitar music influenced the group’s creativity. He often enriched the overall sound with guitar sounds. Among all the members of the group, he was the only one who never forgot that music is created not only with the help of a synthesizer, but that the breath of life should be felt in it. He screamed “professionally” on stage, and this legendary manner made him a cult figure. The audience was delighted with his cries. The Scooter group toured a lot. As HP said, in Germany they can be heard much less often than in Russia. It is the performances in Russia that he considers the most grandiose and memorable.

"Jumping All Over The World" is the band's album, which, to Baxter's surprise, reached number one in the charts, beating Madonna.

Baxter today

In 2013, the musician’s first solo album in the electro-house style was released.
It was released specifically for the artist's club tour. Performances took place in different cities of Germany. It is noteworthy that people came to these concerts wearing masks in the shape of Baxter's face. At the very beginning of the summer of 2013, HP visited Moscow as part of a tour, where he performed a solo mix. In the summer of 2013, a new single was recorded and released with the participation of Baxter, but it was created without the participation of Jordan. The vocals for this single were performed by singer Jaye Marshall. This was not the first collaboration with her. In the album, which was one of the last to be released in 2012, she performed several songs.

Personal life of H.P. Baxter

Baxter treats his fans with respect. He says that they manage to appear in all the places where he goes: at shows, at concerts, and at autograph sessions. It seems, as the musician put it, that they are conducting a real secret operation. This amazes HP, he says that it is impossible not to respect them for this.

HP Baxter with his second wife

The musician and singer rarely sees his relatives. He spends most of his time in the studio with his bandmates. When relatives have time, they come to Baxter's performances. There is a guest list for relatives of all band members, so they can always attend concerts for free.

HP said in an interview that it is very important for him that his personal life is his own business. He never thought of complaining about being in the spotlight, as this is the fate of all musicians. However, it is important for him to be able to escape the spotlight when he needs a break.

The musician considers a good steak to be his best dish. He also sometimes cooks himself. He considers the Danish cheeseburger his signature dish.

The leader of the group does not particularly like to fly on airplanes; most of all, he dislikes turbulence. Because of this, if possible, he prefers to travel by car. The musician prefers to travel in a Mercedes limousine. Of course, when it is impossible to get there by car, and the plane is the only means of transportation, he flies by plane.

HP first married in 1998 to Katie, whom he knew and dated long before the formation of the legendary group. His second marriage took place in mid-2006. This time his chosen one was Simone Mostert. The musician, being in this marriage, considered himself the happiest “married man”. The second marriage lasted five years. Baxter is currently single. He is in a romantic relationship with Nicola, a designer by profession.

The musician used to have a pet - a guinea pig named Miss Marple, and then a Labrador named Hector. Currently there are no pets, but the studio has a huge aquarium with beautiful tropical fish.

In 1997, the artist tried himself as an actor, taking part in the filming of the American series “Alarm Für Cobra 11,” which was very popular in Germany.

Excerpt characterizing HP Baxter

“What did I say, what did I do!” she thought as soon as she left the room. We waited a long time for Natasha for lunch that day. She sat in her room and sobbed like a child, blowing her nose and sobbing. Sonya stood over her and kissed her hair. - Natasha, what are you talking about? - she said. -What do you care about them? Everything will pass, Natasha. - No, if you knew how offensive it is... exactly me... - Don’t tell me, Natasha, it’s not your fault, so what does it matter to you? “Kiss me,” said Sonya. Natasha raised her head, kissed her friend on the lips, and pressed her wet face to hers. – I can’t say, I don’t know. “No one is to blame,” said Natasha, “I am to blame.” But all this is painfully terrible. Oh, he’s not coming!... She went out to dinner with red eyes. Marya Dmitrievna, who knew how the prince received the Rostovs, pretended that she did not notice Natasha’s upset face and firmly and loudly joked at the table with the count and other guests. That evening the Rostovs went to the opera, for which Marya Dmitrievna got a ticket. Natasha did not want to go, but it was impossible to refuse Marya Dmitrievna’s affectionateness, exclusively intended for her. When she, dressed, went out into the hall, waiting for her father and looking in the large mirror, saw that she was good, very good, she became even more sad; but sad, sweet and loving. “My God, if only he were here; Then I would not have the same way as before, with some stupid timidity in front of something, but in a new, simple way, I would hug him, cling to him, force him to look at me with those searching, curious eyes with which he so often looked at me and then would make him laugh, as he laughed then, and his eyes - how I see those eyes! thought Natasha. - And what do I care about his father and sister: I love him alone, him, him, with this face and eyes, with his smile, masculine and at the same time childish... No, it’s better not to think about him, not to think, to forget, completely forget for this time. I can’t stand this waiting, I’m going to start crying,” and she moved away from the mirror, making an effort not to cry. - “And how can Sonya love Nikolinka so smoothly, so calmly, and wait so long and patiently”! she thought, looking at Sonya entering, also dressed, with a fan in her hands. “No, she’s completely different. I can't"! Natasha felt at that moment so softened and tender that it was not enough for her to love and know that she was loved: she needed now, now she needed to hug her loved one and speak and hear from him the words of love with which her heart was full. While she was riding in the carriage, sitting next to her father, and thoughtfully looking at the lights of the lanterns flashing in the frozen window, she felt even more in love and sadder and forgot with whom and where she was going. Having fallen into a line of carriages, the Rostovs' carriage slowly squealed in the snow and drove up to the theater. Natasha and Sonya hastily jumped out, picking up dresses; The count came out, supported by footmen, and between the ladies and men entering and those selling posters, all three went into the corridor of the benoir. The sounds of music could already be heard from behind the closed doors. “Nathalie, vos cheveux, [Natalie, your hair,” Sonya whispered. The steward politely and hastily slipped in front of the ladies and opened the door of the box. The music began to be heard brighter through the door, the illuminated rows of boxes with the bare shoulders and arms of the ladies, and the noisy stalls glittering with uniforms flashed. The lady who was entering the adjacent benoir looked at Natasha with a feminine, envious gaze. The curtain had not yet risen and the overture was playing. Natasha, straightening her dress, walked along with Sonya and sat down, looking around at the illuminated rows of opposite boxes. The feeling that she had not experienced for a long time that hundreds of eyes were looking at her bare arms and neck suddenly seized her both pleasantly and unpleasantly, evoking a whole swarm of memories, desires and worries corresponding to this feeling. Two remarkably pretty girls, Natasha and Sonya, with Count Ilya Andreich, who had not been seen in Moscow for a long time, attracted everyone’s attention. In addition, everyone vaguely knew about Natasha’s conspiracy with Prince Andrei, they knew that since then the Rostovs had lived in the village, and they looked with curiosity at the bride of one of the best grooms in Russia. Natasha became prettier in the village, as everyone told her, and that evening, thanks to her excited state, she was especially beautiful. She amazed with the fullness of life and beauty, combined with indifference to everything around her. Her black eyes looked at the crowd, not looking for anyone, and her thin, bare arm above the elbow, leaning on the velvet ramp, obviously unconsciously, in time with the overture, clenched and unclenched, crumpling the poster. “Look, here’s Alenina,” said Sonya, “it seems like she’s with her mother!” - Fathers! Mikhail Kirilych has grown even fatter,” said the old count. - Look! Our Anna Mikhailovna is in a state of flux! - Karagin, Julie and Boris are with them. The bride and groom are now visible. – Drubetskoy proposed! “Why, I found out today,” said Shinshin, who was entering the Rostovs’ box. Natasha looked in the direction in which her father was looking and saw Julie, who, with pearls on her thick red neck (Natasha knew, sprinkled with powder), was sitting with a happy look, next to her mother. Behind them, Boris’s smoothly combed, beautiful head could be seen with a smile, his ear tilted towards Julie’s mouth. He looked at the Rostovs from under his brows and, smiling, said something to his bride. “They talk about us, about me and him!” thought Natasha. “And he truly calms his bride’s jealousy of me: there is no need to worry! If only they knew how much I don’t care about any of them.” Anna Mikhailovna sat behind her in a green current, with a devoted will of God and a happy, festive face. In their box there was that atmosphere - the bride and groom that Natasha knew and loved so much. She turned away and suddenly everything that was humiliating in her morning visit came back to her. “What right does he have to not want to accept me into his kinship? Oh, it’s better not to think about it, not to think about it until he arrives!” She said to herself and began to look around at the familiar and unfamiliar faces in the stalls. In front of the stalls, in the very middle, leaning his back to the ramp, stood Dolokhov with a huge, combed-up shock of curly hair, in a Persian suit. He stood in full view of the theater, knowing that he was attracting the attention of the entire audience, as freely as if he were standing in his room. The most brilliant youth of Moscow stood crowded around him, and he apparently took precedence among them. Count Ilya Andreich, laughing, nudged the blushing Sonya, pointing her to her former admirer. - Did you recognize it? - he asked. “And where did he come from,” the count turned to Shinshin, “after all, he disappeared somewhere?” “Disappeared,” answered Shinshin. - He was in the Caucasus, and there he escaped, and, they say, he was a minister for some sovereign prince in Persia, he killed the Shah’s brother there: well, everyone is going crazy and the Moscow ladies are going crazy! Dolochoff le Persan, [The Persian Dolokhov,] and that’s it. Now we have no word without Dolokhov: they swear by him, they call him like a sterlet,” said Shinshin. - Dolokhov, and Anatol Kuragin - they drove all our ladies crazy. A tall, beautiful lady with a huge braid and very bare, white, full shoulders and neck, on which there was a double string of large pearls, entered the adjacent benoir, and sat down for a long time, rustling with her thick silk dress. Natasha involuntarily looked at this neck, shoulders, pearls, hairstyle and admired the beauty of the shoulders and pearls. While Natasha was peering at her for the second time, the lady looked back and, meeting her eyes with Count Ilya Andreich, nodded her head and smiled at him. It was Countess Bezukhova, Pierre's wife. Ilya Andreich, who knew everyone in the world, leaned over and spoke to her. - How long have you been here, Countess? - he spoke. “I’ll come, I’ll come, I’ll kiss your hand.” But I came here on business and brought my girls with me. They say Semenova’s performance is incomparable,” said Ilya Andreich. – Count Pyotr Kirillovich never forgot us. He is here?

HP Baxter turns 48 years old. In honor of his birthday, we present to our readers the 9 best hits of legendary musicians

On March 16, H.P. Baxter, the vocalist of the legendary German band Scooter, a favorite of more than one generation of music lovers, celebrates his birthday. The forever young singer turns 48!

The personality of the lead singer of the cult group went down in history. It is impossible to imagine the mega-popular band Scooter, which loudly declared itself in the nineties, without HP. The singer was born in 1966 in a small town in northern Germany - Lehre. Already as a child, Eich decided for himself that he would study music. Baxter succumbed to his parents’ persuasion and entered the Faculty of Law, but after studying for a semester, he dropped out of the university and got a job at a record company. Then he finally completed his education and received a law degree, but only to be considered a literate person.

It's funny that from a young age the artist did not like dance music; he was fond of such performers as Ritchie Blackmore and Billy Idol, and this was completely inconsistent with what the soloist began to do later.

In the summer of 1993, Pi, along with his brother and two musician friends, created a team called “The Loop”, which created remixes. “If you like it, do it,” was their motto. The guys wrote remixes for songs by such artists as Toni Di Bart, Ru Paul, Holly Johnson and so on. But then they decided to start their own project and rename the group “Scooter”. Three years later, their songs began to thunder throughout the world.

Here are nine of the legendary team's most popular songs

The hot hit "Rebel Yell", released in May 1996, made a loud statement about the group. The guys woke up famous, and the whole world recognized the face of HP Baxter.

The next single, "I'm Raving", released in September 1996, broke into the German charts and went gold without any problems. Thanks to him, in October 1996 the musicians released their album “Wicked!” It became the group's most successful album to date.

"Break It Up" is the band's first techno ballad. She is not at all typical for guys. This love song, written by the famous Noise Katsman, gave Scooter a chance to establish itself in the pop genre. H.P.'s old love for guitar sound made itself known in this track.

In July 1996, Scooter completed his new album, The Age of Love. Along with it came a stunning video clip for this single, created in a futuristic style. This track is adored by the band's fans.

The popular single "No Fate" from the band's fourth album "Rough AND Tough And Dangerous - The Singles 1994-1998" was released in early November 1997. After the release of this collection, which summed up four years of activity, keyboardist Ferris Bueller left the group. Alex Coon took his place in the group.

Already, together with Alex Coon, the group has released a new song “How much is the fish?”. She occupied the highest places in the European and American charts.

At the beginning of September 1998, the group released their new disc, which included the super single “I Was Made For Loving You”. The guys immediately took leading places in all television charts.

Just before the New Year of 1999, “Scooter” released his new disc with the song “Call Me Manana”. For the release of this disc, they remade the album track and added a melody from the composition of the group “La Style” - “James Brown Is Dead”. The combination in the “future trance” style brought them great luck, it was a very good idea!

In May 2000, the guys presented to the public their new song, the single “I’m Your Pusher,” which traces the tradition of making the group’s music heavier. It delights fans and once again confirms the talent of the artists.
