Stas Baretsky
- famous Russian showman, turbo chansonnier. Born on March 8, 1972 in the city of Lomonosov. Previously performed in the groups “Leningrad” and “Christmas Tree Toys”. Now he is an independent singer.
[edit] Incidents
Stas is constantly invited to various television programs. However, he always finds someone to fight with there. There were cases of fights with: Bogdan Titomir, Rustam Solntsev and others.
In November 2020, the turbo chansonnier chewed on a can of Turkish beer near the consulate of the Turkish Republic in St. Petersburg. In the spring of 2016, he tore up a rubber Barack Obama as a sign of support for tennis player Maria Sharapova, who was disqualified for doping (using meldonium). He challenged Russian national team players Alexander Kokorin and Pavel Mamaev to an alcohol duel after the scandalous news that they held a party with champagne.
In October 2020, it became known that Baretsky admitted that it was he, dressed as a clown and holding a plunger, who scared the driver in the Kupchino area.[1]
What is Stas Baretsky like in everyday life?
I'm the same as I am on stage. I try not to change myself and be who I am - I am an evil, bad person. It would be stupid if I started saying that I am good. I prefer not to hide the truth - I am greedy, envious, but cheerful. What I can say about my strengths is my external beauty and my intelligence, and my weaknesses are kindness and generosity. I think that a kind person is bad, because usually kind people do not achieve anything in this life, they are too soft. I don’t have children, but if I had them, I wouldn’t want them to be kind, because if you are kind, then you initially miss out on many moments in this life - you won’t take your piece from this world that you You're supposed to be swimming in the middle class. You won’t grab anything, but you’ll just rush around and suffer all the time. Therefore, you need to be evil, cunning, but smart. I don’t mean like a scumbag, but like that, in moderation. You don’t need to hit everyone and throw yourself at everyone, but first of all, think about yourself and your loved ones, and only then about someone else.
If we talk about hobbies, it’s hard to say what I love – nothing in particular. I drive a car in my free time, but now I’m without it for now because I burned out my BMW and haven’t bought another one yet.
Yesterday, for example, in the Moscow River opposite the Kremlin I caught a royal sturgeon - as much as two kilograms! I pulled it straight out of the river and ate it later! Well, she hesitated, of course. I feel that our government lives so well that there are such fish in the river. Maybe they specially feed it, and then drain the black caviar haha. I also have a video:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=iRdq1NT1cv4%3Fwmode%3Dopaque
There are no places where I would like to visit often and constantly hang around, but if you want, you can always meet me at concerts, which, however, are rare. But there are! You can talk there and take pictures - they always come up to me, I don’t ignore anyone. And I even travel by public transport. Any communication is no problem, it doesn’t break me. There are inappropriate people who can get to the bottom of their drunkenness: “Bro, why are you going on the subway? Bro, what are you talking about,” and I turn my face to the side and look like a deaf person. No extravagances of star life, I don’t get such a thrill that such a thing would happen. I am realistic about everything, only officials or cops live well here, but stars are here today, gone tomorrow. The higher you fly, the more painful it is to fall, so there is no need to write hits. Otherwise, if you write a hit, then everyone will only expect hits from you. Therefore, you need to live smoothly.

Appearance
As a child, Stas was an ordinary blond boy, as evidenced by the presented photo. He has an open look and a pleasant appearance. Some might even call the future author of obscene works quite cute.

What did Stas Baretsky look like in his youth? The photo shows that he could not be called handsome, but there was nothing repulsive in his appearance at that time. He had not yet had such a dense physique as he does today. Now it’s unlikely that anyone else would fit into the frame with him, but then he looked absolutely harmonious surrounded by friends and acquaintances.
What made his appearance colorful was not only his weight, but also his facial expression. Looking at him, you see in front of you a man who absolutely managed to take part in various showdowns for which the 90s were so famous.
Biography
Stas Baretsky is a shocking Russian musician who performed as part of the notorious group “Leningrad” from 2005 to 2008. A man of incredible size (height - 175 cm, weight - 142 kg), shaved head and in the same crimson jacket - this is how the public recognized, remembered and accepted Stas Baretsky. Stas Baretsky has released eight solo albums, as well as one in collaboration with another group, “Christmas Tree Toys”.
The singer and showman was born on March 8, 1972 in the city of Lomonosov near St. Petersburg. He spent his childhood and youth here, and the musician still lives here today.
Musician and showman Stas Baretsky
Stas began writing poetry from an early age; he says that they came from within and rhymed. Once, during a Russian language lesson, Stas wrote an essay in poetry, which surprised the teacher. And then perestroika began in the country.
Baretsky entered a vocational school and received the profession of a driver. He did not work in his specialty - at the age of 16 he got a job as a gravedigger at a cemetery. Gang fights, massacres, shootings—gravediggers had plenty of work to do in those troubled times. Baretsky admits that their crew was paid a lot, and they divided the income equally. His boss at that time drove a snow-white Volga, and Stas dreamed of one. Then he got a job as a security guard in a store, opened his own cafe, but went bankrupt in default. The next business was a grocery store, but it also went bankrupt.
Stas Baretsky in childhood and now
All this time, Stas Baretsky wrote poetry, and decided to record songs on them only in 2002. His first fans were Russian millionaires who earned their capital in the 90s.
Stas Baretsky: “They paid me, so I made a scandal!”
Text: Vyacheslav Potaenkov Photo: Alexandra Polyakova
.
They call it an echo of the nineties. Almost every broadcast with his participation is a new scandalous story. Former lead singer of the popular group "Leningrad" and ex-owner of the cemetery. An incomparable author and brilliant performer of songs. About memories of the crazy 90s, show business and his new album in an interview with RB correspondent Vyacheslav Potaenkov.
— You are a legendary person. You are the person who always stays on top. What did all this cost you?
— If not in monetary terms, then it didn’t cost me anything at all. I am a person. I am who I am. You know what they say: “Don’t confuse tourism with emigration.”
— They talk a lot about you as a brawler. Tell me how you feel about this, or maybe you want to avoid such associations with you?
- I have nothing to do with this. They just paid me money for it, that’s why I made a scandal. If I hadn't been paid for this, I wouldn't have fallen down the stairs.
— You started writing poetry at the age of 14, and only in 2002 you decided to record songs based on them. However, your creativity has not faded to this day. Tell me, how do you find inspiration?
— I would say that it is not creativity that does not fade away, but I do not fade away. It’s just that others have already given up on this whole thing, on creativity, on this movement, but I’m still doing all this. Other people my age start families and live quiet lives, but I hang out with all sorts of natives and try to do something new. But in general, to be honest, show business is a topic for young people. Well, young people know me, and I think it’s cool, because some Stas Mikhailov is known to old farts who go to his concerts. Well, just imagine, it will be such bullshit that I will sit drunk near Yubileiny in my red jacket, and older youth will pass by and say: “Yes, this is Stas Baretsky! Remember, bro, here's some money for you! Let's take you home!" This has its advantages.
— You said that you are attracted by the very atmosphere of show business. What mark would you like to leave behind in this matter?
- Yes, I don’t want to leave any trace behind me at all. In the sense that after me there will be nothing left at all. Because I understand perfectly well, what kind of trace can remain after me? Although you know, what we are doing now, I think, in 10 years they will understand and say: “But in fact, the guys made cool themes.” I don't try to leave anything behind because there is no point. Well, what can you leave behind on this Earth? Music? It's new every day. And after AC/DC, what can you do in music?! They did everything. In the videos, in the music, in the vocals, in the lyrics - everything was done by AC/DC. She killed all styles completely.
— Not so long ago you released the album “The Nineties.” Please tell us a little about this album.
— We made this album with the boys and tried to create the old atmosphere, wrote in the old style. It turned out the way we wanted, and people who understand our topic appreciated it. I know that this album will live, and I will die, but it will remain. This is decent music. Now we are already making another album. Heavier, more modern. I try to get the boys to make their music sound like the young guys who play heavy metal. But we won't go into rap. It is clear, of course, what he collects, but in rap, as in pop music, you need to drive money. That is, what did Noganno shoot with? Because urban money was driven into it. But if you don’t invest money in rap and don’t shoot cool videos, then it’s nothing.
We can afford to film all sorts of bullshit. Because we don't pretend to anything. And rappers should be wearing trousers, in chains... It’s not just like that. Cars, chicks. And all this requires money. And if you don’t do any of this and walk around the yard and flex your fingers that you’re a cool rapper, then what kind of cool rapper are you? A rapper means show-off and money! Show-offs, chicks, murders, fights. I say: did they kill at least one rapper? Nobody! And why? What kind of rap? I'm waiting for a sacrifice. Where are the shootouts? Where is the showdown? I believe that we don’t have turnip in Russia at all. That's when they kill someone...
— What impressions did the nineties leave for you? And why is now a better time for you?
— It was a good time for me. Of course, different stories happened, but everything was fine for me. In the nineties, I actually had two taverns of my own, then I had my own store. I had my own cemetery. The friends were alive. Now there is no one left - everyone is killed. My youth. You are young now, and I was then.
— And finally, please tell me what upcoming events can be expected with your participation?
— There are concerts in St. Petersburg now. Then it will be in Khabarovsk. And they don’t call me anywhere else.

Baretsky, Stanislav Valerievich
“Leningrad” and Stas Baretsky (far right)
He began writing poetry at the age of 14, and only in 2002 he decided to record songs based on them.
“In general, I never intended to write songs. And then we were talking once with a sound engineer we knew, Kolya. I’ve been writing poetry since I was fourteen, but I’ve never shown it to anyone. He says: “Let’s try to record it.” - “Who will sing?” - “Yes, you can sing it yourself.” I went up to the microphone and said something... We recorded two songs during the evening. And Kolya on radio “Chanson” had garters. And bam, I was listening to radio “Chanson” one day, and there was my song. I was simply blown away.”[5]
In the period from 2003 to 2004, he recorded two solo albums, published on the Kapkan label: “Censorship” and “Censorship-2”. Some of the songs ended up on the Petrograd - Russian Chanson radio.
In 2004, the electronic duo “Christmas Tree Toys,” located in the same city, became interested in his work. They invited him to record an album and perform concerts in clubs. The album "Elektronshchina" became one of the most exciting musical events of 2005. At the beginning of 2006, Baretsky had several successful performances in Ukraine with other musicians from the “Forbidden Variety” collection besides “Christmas Tree Toys,” including with 2H Company; in Kyiv, the entrance to the concert had to be closed when there were 600 people[6]. On March 7, 2006, Stas performed at the Moscow club “Ikra” after the presentation of YI’s album “Warm Math” and a performance by 2H Company[7]; some listeners left the hall[6].
Stas Baretsky made an indelible impression on me. I believe that this is the Victor Tsoi of our time. And he holds the microphone like Tsoi - slightly blocking the lower part of his face with his elbow and proudly raising his chin. Haiku man!Gleb Davydov[6] |
In addition to concerts with “Christmas Tree Toys” in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Stas joined the concert lineup of the Leningrad group, wrote lyrics for the songs “Heavenly Tennis” and “Credit” for the album “Bread”[3]. According to Baretsky, he no longer performs with Leningrad, because “Shnurov doesn’t call,” and he doesn’t want to ask [2]. While with “Christmas Tree Toys,” he believes that “they didn’t get along with each other in terms of music,” since the band’s musicians prefer to engage in creative experiments, and Baretsky suggested “stupidly doing a turbo chanson and going to clubs”[2].
Brother 3
In 2020, he announced his desire to make the film “Brother 3”, where, according to him, Bari Alibasov, Marina Anisina, Olga Buzova, Vyacheslav Datsik, Nikita Dzhigurda, Viktor Sukhorukov and Sergei Shnurov will take part. According to Baretsky, “people allocated money from the ritual business,” the film’s script is already ready and some scenes have already been filmed. Filming is planned to be completed by 2020[8]. In turn, Sergei Bodrov Sr. considered this idea strange, Sergei Selyanov expressed the opinion that this is “rudeness, disrespect and stupidity” in relation to those who created the first two parts, Viktor Sukhorukov stated that he does not want to know people who have attitude towards this project, and Irina Saltykova called them “clowns”[9][10][11][12][13]. In addition, a petition began collecting signatures on Change.org to cancel the filming of the third film[14].
At the end of July 2020, filming began in Krasnogorsk near Moscow. However, the studio’s plans changed and it was decided to abandon Vyacheslav Datsik in the leading role[15]. It was decided that instead of Datsik, the main role would be played by American actor Mickey Rourke[16]. Regarding the filming of the film, negotiations were held with the scandalous Diana Shurygina and Hollywood star Jennifer Aniston. However, the celebrity asked for a fabulous amount of money for her work[17]. On August 1, 2020, Baretsky stated that his old acquaintance Danila Bagrov, played by Sergei Bodrov Jr., will still appear in the film using computer graphics[18]. On September 6, 2020, Baretsky announced on VKontakte that he was selling one of the main roles in the film for five million rubles[19]. On November 11, 2020, a short film was posted on YouTube as a prequel to the third part of the film[20]. The film was originally scheduled to premiere on March 1, 2020[21].
St. Petersburg chansonnier Stas Baretsky will head the department of culture in the Cossack society
Stas Baretsky hates pop music. This is probably why he attracted the attention of the Orthodox Union of Cossacks “Irbis”. They also don’t like Western influence on popular culture. After weighing the pros and cons, Ataman Andrei Polyakov eventually invited the musician and showman, as well as a former member of the Leningrad group, to head the cultural department of their society.
While the appointment is not official, no one has signed. But both sides evaluate the idea of cooperation purely positively.
“He is an active person, but with free time,” Andrei Polyakov . — Baretsky will be able to develop our folklore groups. To popularize national music by adding modern arrangements. This is on a voluntary basis, but in the process of implementing projects it is also possible to earn money. I plan to do chanson festivals. The real thing - an urban, bard song.
Stas Baretsky himself learned about his possible appointment from journalists. But he liked the idea.
“I always dreamed of becoming the president of culture among the Cossacks, especially if they paid money,” says the musician. — I have an ancient family of Cossacks. Actually, Cossack society originated from my family. And to be honest, my great-grandfather was a White Guard Cossack. Everything is as it should be, mustache, burka, and a hefty hat.
Baretsky himself guarded the market in the nineties. There, by the way, I met the Cossacks. They were guarding a church nearby. Then we became friends. But Stas didn’t ride a horse - he was too big, and he didn’t like to torture animals.
— If you head the cultural department, what’s the first thing you’ll do?
— I would immediately cancel all concerts of pop performers and organize a performance for myself in Ledovoy. But in fact, I like the idea of creating some kind of Cossack open air*. There is even somewhere - in the seventh port of Kronstadt. These are such festivals for young people - all styles and trends would play there. The city doesn't have enough of this. Without any balalaikas. I would also make Cossack discos.

Stas Baretsky calls himself a turbo chansonnier. In 2003 and 2004 he released two solo albums: “Censorship” and “Censorship-2”. This is such a mixture of chanson and electronic music. In 2004, the famous electronic duo “Christmas Tree Toys” recorded a disc together and performed concerts in clubs. Baretsky was also a member of the concert lineup of the Leningrad group, where he wrote several lyrics for songs. This year he released the album “To Die for Pop”.
