Early years, family of Anatoly Timoshchuk
From a very early age, football was the main passion in the life of a young football player.
Already in elementary school, the future player began to often attend matches of local football teams, and also learned the basics of game No. 1 at a local sports boarding school. It is very noteworthy that for some time his older sister studied with Anatoly at the sports school. However, due to a knee injury, the girl never became a famous athlete. And very soon Tymoshchuk remained the only professional athlete in his family. TYMOSHCHUK RUNS LIVE 06/02/2013 Thus, from an early age the guy could only rely on himself. He studied diligently and, looking at his idol Lothar Motteus, dreamed, like him, of making a career in German football. It is worth noting that the choice of playing role in which Anatoly Tymoshchuk continues to play to this day is also associated with the personality of the famous German midfielder. Unlike other football players who changed many positions on the field during their careers, our today's hero always remained true to himself and improved as a player in the supporting zone. Perhaps it was this consistency that gave Tymoshchuk the coveted ticket to big football. Already at the age of fifteen, the player caught the attention of the coaches of Volyn Lutsk, who very soon began to allow the very young player to participate in the games of the main team.
In 1995, Anatoly Timoshchuk played his first match in the Major League of the Ukrainian Championship. That year, Volyn Lutsk played extremely poorly and took only seventeenth place in the final championship table (among 18 teams). However, despite the series of defeats, several positive aspects could easily be found in this state of affairs. One of these was the inspired play of young Anatoly, who very soon became one of the main hopes of the entire team.
Anatoly Timoshchuk began his career in Ukraine
The talented player spent the next year in the First League of Ukraine, improving his skills in the country's second-class division. During this period, Anatoly managed to finally gain a foothold in the team and even attract the attention of the giants of Ukrainian football. Thus, already in 1998, the player found himself in one of the strongest teams in the post-Soviet space - Donetsk Shakhtar - which very soon became his real destiny.
The rise of the career and subsequent achievements of the football player Tymoshchuk
The first serious success came to the young player in 1998.
During this period, he joined one of the best clubs in Ukraine and very soon became one of the most significant players in the Donetsk team. During this period, the player's career began to rapidly gain momentum. Anatoly Tymoshchuk often took to the field, and some time later he made his debut in the Ukrainian national team. In 2001, as part of the miners, the player won the National Cup, and already in the next season he tried on the gold medals of the national championship for the first time. In total, over nine seasons at Shakhtar, Anatoly Tymoshchuk played more than two hundred matches in the Ukrainian Major League and managed to become the captain and one of the main stars of his club. In addition, over the years, the midfielder won the National Championship three times and lifted the Ukrainian Cup over his head the same number of times. In 2006, as part of his country's national team, Anatoly Timoshchuk reached the quarterfinals of the World Championship. For this achievement, the midfielder, along with other team members, was awarded the Order of Courage.
"Zenith"
After nine seasons in the Donetsk club, the footballer moves to Zenit
.
The cost of this transfer became a record for Russian football and amounted to $20 million. In Russia by that time they already knew well who the footballer Anatoly Timoshchuk was.
photo regularly appeared in the sports media, and he needed no introduction.
Already in the first season, the midfielder became the champion of Russia
as part of the “blue-white-blue” team, after which the coaching staff of the St. Petersburg club decided to hand over the captain’s armband to the Ukrainian defensive midfielder.
2008 became the most successful year not only in the career of football player Tymoshchuk, but also in the history of Zenit. The team, for the first time in history, wins the European trophy, finishing in the UEFA Cup
with the Scottish Rangers.
A little later, Zenit
beat Manchester United UEFA Super Cup
Tymoshchuk in Zenit
In 2007, Tymoshchuk’s contract, which belonged to Shakhtar Donetsk, was bought by Zenit St. Petersburg for an impressive sum of twenty million dollars.
As part of the St. Petersburg club, the Ukrainian immediately became one of the most important football players. The team's game was built through him. His club partners respected him and listened to his advice. And therefore, very soon Tymoshchuk again put the captain’s bandage on his biceps. Thus, the player became one of the few football players who had the opportunity to captain three different teams at once (in our case, Shakhtar, Zenit and the Ukrainian national team). In two seasons as a member of the St. Petersburg club, Anatoly Timoshchuk became the Champion of Russia, as well as the winner of the UEFA Cup, the second most important European football trophy. Having beaten English Manchester United in the final of the tournament, in 2008 the captain of Zenit also lifted the UEFA Super Cup over his head.
Anatoly Timoshchuk returned to St. Petersburg and Zenit
Anatoly Tymoshchuk was born in Lutsk, where he took his first steps towards big-time football. From the age of 6, “Timokha” trained at the local youth sports school, under the leadership of Vladimir Baysarovich. After spending 8 years in a youth sports school, Timoshchuk, after one of the regional tournaments, was invited to a Kiev sports boarding school. Anatoly’s parents gave the go-ahead and young “Timokha” moved to the capital. After finishing his football training in Kyiv, Tymoshchuk was called back to Lutsk. The initiator was Volyn coach Vitaly Kvartsyany, like no one else in Ukraine, who knows how to work with young talents. Anatoly, who dreamed of playing for the capital's Dynamo, returned home. The desire to play at a high level and in my own environment turned out to be stronger. Tymoshchuk’s debut in Volyn was a success. Anatoly came on as a substitute when his team was losing 0:1, scored and assisted. The Lutsk team won, and people started talking about Tymoshchuk. It is worth about then playing in attack. After spending two seasons in Lutsk, Tymoshchuk decided it was time to take the next step. There were enough offers, so in 1997 Anatoly almost ended up in the Austrian Tirol. “Timokha” came to Austria for viewing, where Stanislav Cherchesov took him under his wing. However, Tymoshchuk was not destined to move to Tirol; the agents did not agree on money. But ambitions did not disappear anywhere and Tymoshchuk still wanted to get into a club with big goals. Then an invitation arrived from Shakhtar Donetsk. In his first season for Shakhtar, Tymoshchuk played 9 matches, in which he scored 3 goals. But soon in Donetsk they spotted Tymoshchuk’s other talent and retrained him from a striker to a midfielder. Thus began a new page in Timo’s career. Tymoshchuk became a player in the main team, whose place was beyond doubt. Tenacious, physically strong, excellent in tackling. He becomes one of Shakhtar's key players. In April 2000, Anatoly made his debut for the national team in a friendly match against Bulgaria. His leadership qualities did not go unnoticed; Tymoshchuk received the captain's armband of the Donetsk club. Coaches changed at Shakhtar, but Anatoly’s authority and charisma were always higher than this. So, in 2006, when the Shakhtar all-time team was chosen, it was Tymoshchuk who was chosen as captain. By this time, “Timokha” had become one of the leaders of the national team, which for the first time in history was able to qualify and take part in the World Championships in Germany. Three championships, three Cups, Tymoshchuk lacked success on the European stage. Every season, Shakhtar lacked something in European competition; the team repeatedly failed to pass the group stage of the Champions League and was eliminated in the early stages of the UEFA Cup. Anatoly made a very difficult but correct decision. 20 million dollars could not fully compensate for the captain’s departure, but became a record amount in the post-Soviet space. So, at the beginning of 2007, Timoshchuk became a player for Zenit St. Petersburg. “Timokha” very quickly joined the team and soon became one of the leaders. Success was not long in coming. Zenit, having ended the hegemony of Moscow clubs, won its first championship title, and Tymoshchuk was recognized as the best player of the 2007 Russian Football Championship. But the main triumph was ahead. The UEFA Cup matches with Bayer, Bayern and, of course, the final against Rangers are written in golden letters in the history of Zenit. And there was also a victorious UEFA Super Cup, in which the St. Petersburg team beat the formidable Manchester United. Tymoshchuk was the captain of that team. In the summer of 2009, Timokha moved to Bayern, with whom he had already become a champion, a cup winner, and a Champions League finalist. Under Louis van Gaal, Tymoshchuk played more as a defender, but already under Jupp Heynckes, Anatoly switched to the more familiar position of a defensive player. In the quarter-finals of the 2011/12 Champions League, Tymoshchuk celebrated his 100th match with the Munich team. At EURO 2012, a lot for the Ukrainian national team will depend on Tymoshchuk’s performance.
Anatoly Timoshchuk now
On July 1, 2009, the talented Ukrainian signed a contract with Bayern Munich, thereby fulfilling his long-time dream of a career in the Bundesliga.
Anatoly spent four seasons as a member of the Bavarian club. During this period, Tymoshchuk became a significant member of the team, but at some point his career began to slowly decline. The Ukrainian began to make it into the starting lineup less often, losing competition to other bright players. Despite this, as part of the Munich club, the Ukrainian footballer became a two-time winner of the German Championship and Cup. In addition, it was with Bavaria that Anatoly Tymoshchuk won the Champions League for the first time in his career - the main club trophy of the Old World. After this significant event, the Ukrainian decided to carry out a kind of reboot in his career and again moved to St. Petersburg Zenit. The footballer still plays as part of this team, remaining one of the leading players of the Russian club. In addition, today Anatoly Tymoshchuk remains, as before, the style-forming football player of the Ukrainian national team. The midfielder played more than 120 matches as part of the main team of his country. This figure remains a record at the moment.

Zenit (St. Petersburg)
In 2007, Timoshchuk moved to Zenit (St. Petersburg), soon becoming team captain[3].
He scored his first goal on March 18, 2007 in an away match against Rostov[4].
He won the title of Russian champion, won the country's Super Cup, the UEFA Cup and the UEFA Super Cup[5].
"Bavaria"
On July 1, 2009, he signed a three-year contract with Bayern Munich [6][7][8].
He scored his first goal in an official match on December 8, 2009 in a Champions League group stage match against Juventus against Gianluigi Buffon (4:1 in favor of Bayern)[6][7][8].
In his first season, Tymoshchuk became the champion and winner of the German Cup with Bayern. In the first round of the championship he was a player in the starting lineup[9]. In the second round, he came out exclusively as a substitute, since coach Louis van Gaal preferred to use Van Bommel, without having any complaints about Tymoshchuk’s dedication[10].
In the summer of 2010, Tymoshchuk, dissatisfied with the time spent on the field, could leave Bayern; information appeared in the press about interest in him from a number of German, Italian and Russian clubs. Tymoshchuk had an agreement with Wolfsburg, but at the last moment the Bayern board of directors vetoed the transfer, since, in their opinion, Tymoshchuk had a positive influence on the microclimate in the team[11].
He began his second season in Germany on the bench, appearing on the field for the first time in the championship only in the sixth round match[12]. He made his debut in the starting lineup in the 8th round, in a match that many of Bayern's main players missed due to injuries, including van Bommel. Due to Van Bommel's prolonged recovery, Tymoshchuk regained his place in the starting lineup. On October 29, 2010, in a match against Freiburg, he scored his first goal of the season[13]. After the match, Bayern President Uli Hoeneß publicly stated:[14]
I sat in the stands and watched the match against Freiburg. And I witnessed that those players who did not enjoy Van Gaal’s trust were the best on the field. I'm talking about Tymoshchuk, Demichelis and Gomez. Tymoshchuk was generally the best player on the field in the second half. It's unfortunate that Van Gaal doesn't take other people's opinions into account. However, our club today is not a one-man show. There have been injustices towards certain players in our team, but van Gaal must show more respect for other people with certain experience |
On November 27, 2010, he scored his first double for Bayern, the team defeated Eintracht Frankfurt with a score of 4:1[15]. Van Gaal began to periodically release Tymoshchuk as a central defender, thus finding a place on the field for both players after Van Bommel was restored.
The leading German sports publication Kicker included Tymoshchuk in the Bundesliga first round team[16]. Van Gaal later stated that Tymoshchuk convinced him of his professional suitability[17]. On January 25, 2011, the official website of Bayern announced Van Bommel's transfer to Milan[18]. Despite the departure of the Dutchman, Tymoshchuk continued to play as a central defender, proving himself well in his new position.
The second half of the season was a disaster for Bayern. The Munich club was eliminated in the 1/8 finals of the Champions League and lost the championship and cup. Van Gaal was fired in April 2011[19]. The season ended with the acting coach of Van Gaal's former assistant Andries Jonker, who returned Tymoshchuk to the position of defensive midfielder in the last matches of the championship.
In the summer of 2011, Jupp Heynckes[20] became the new coach of Bayern, and at one of his first press conferences he stated that he also sees Tymoshchuk in midfield[21].
In his third season in Germany, Tymoshchuk was again left without trophies, despite the club's more successful performances: Bayern claimed victories in three tournaments until the last. In the 12th round of the German championship, in the last minutes of the match against Augsburg, Tymoshchuk received the first red card in his Munich career and was suspended for three Bundesliga matches[22]. In the away quarter-final of the Champions League against Marseille, Tymoshchuk played his 100th match for Bayern[23]. On March 29, 2012, Tymoshchuk’s contract with Bayern was automatically extended for one year[24].
Anatoly Tymoshchuk vs. Didier Drogba in the Champions League final
In May, Bayern lost the Champions League final for the second time in three years. Tymoshchuk, despite playing well in the final match (Kicker and other German publications gave him one of the highest ratings in the team[25]), was criticized by former Munich defender Paul Breitner for refusing to take post-match penalties[26]
Tymoshchuk's fourth season began with a victory in the German Super Cup. In the 79th minute of the match against Dor, he entered the field instead of Franck Ribery[27]. In the last days of the summer transfer window, Bayern acquired Javi Martinez[28] for 40 million euros, which should have indicated a long-term bet on the young Spaniard and the dubious prospects of 33-year-old Tymoshchuk. Before the winter break, Tymoshchuk only appeared in the starting lineup for Bayern 4 times[29]. On November 28, 2012, in the 14th round of the Bundesliga, he scored a goal against Freiburg[30]. In Bayern's cup game against Augsburg, Tymoshchuk scored a goal with a beautiful long-range strike, but the referees did not see that the ball bounced off the crossbar over the goal line[31][32].
The midfielder's final season in Bayern became the most successful in Tymoshchuk's career, as well as the most striking in the history of the Munich club. In the 2012/13 season, the Munich team achieved the so-called “treble”, winning the German championship and Cup, as well as the UEFA Champions League.

Return to Zenit
At the beginning of June 2013, Tymoshchuk returned to Zenit and signed a two-year agreement[33][34][35]. During this time, Tymoshchuk again became the champion of Russia, and also won silver medals at the championship.
Over five seasons with the club, he played 150 matches, scored 18 goals and gave 5 assists.[36]
"Kairat"
At the beginning of July 2020, he moved to the Kairat club from Kazakhstan. The contract was for 1.5 years.[37] On July 12, in his first match against the Kaisar club, he came out with the captain's armband.[38] With Kairat he became a two-time vice-champion of Kazakhstan (2015, 2016), won the Cup and Super Cup of Kazakhstan.
Personal life of Anatoly Timoshchuk
For many years now, the Ukrainian football player has been happily married to a girl named Nadezhda. Tymoshchuk met his “soul mate” back in Lutsk. Thus, the woman he loved was with Anatoly throughout his entire career.

I met my wife Nadezhda while still in Lutsk. They lived not far from each other. At first there was sympathy, which grew into love. Tolik had a wedding, like all athletes, on vacation. Alexey Belik and his girlfriend became witnesses.
Tolik is very concerned about the future of Ukrainian football. This prompted the Ukrainian football star to organize a youth tournament in Lutsk. His tournament is reaching an international level. Teams from Belarus and Poland are coming. This event helps children try their hand and realize themselves.
