Obviously, Hannah is the girl’s creative pseudonym. As a child, she was so inspired by the Latin dancer Hanna Kartunen that she gave herself the same nickname. In fact, the singer’s name is Ivanova Anna Vladimirovna, and she was born on January 23, 1991 in the city of Cheboksary into the most ordinary family. Although all her relatives were far from music, the girl always dreamed of becoming a singer. Even in kindergarten, she stood on a stool, imagined herself on stage and sang Russian folk songs.

“As a child, I didn’t have time to do homework, let alone going out with friends.”

Realizing that such potential cannot be ruined, the mother sent her daughter to a music school. From a very early age, she studied vocals and choral singing, and also attended a sports ballroom dancing section and even attended acting classes. In addition to singing at a music school, she additionally took solfeggio lessons. “As a child, I didn’t have time to do homework, let alone going out with friends,” recalls Anna.

As the singer herself says, she had more than enough energy. She never sat still because she wanted to try as much as possible, and she was well aware that childhood would fly by at incredible speed. Every day she spun like a squirrel in a wheel. She sang in school ensembles and performed at various city events and competitions. Anna sincerely thanks her mother and grandparents for helping her realize her potential and always supporting her.

Singer Hannah: “I had no girlfriends or friends, only school and sports”

A singer whose songs are sung both in Russia and America, wife and just a beautiful girl, Hannah told BeautyHack about her creative image, ballroom dancing, vegetarianism and favorite places.

– Hannah, tell us about your creative image. Your nickname - where does it come from?

The name Anna comes from the Hebrew name Hanna. In addition, as a child, when I was engaged in sports ballroom dancing, my idol was the dancer Hanna Kartunen. From an early age, I knew that when the time came to choose a stage name, that would be the one I would choose.

My creative image is the real me. In life I am the same as on stage, except that I open up from different sides. On stage I can be bold and harsh, but in life most often I am kind, open and positive. At least that's what I think.

– You devoted your entire childhood to ballroom dancing. Why did you quit? Was it difficult?

As a child, I didn’t play in the yard with my friends and didn’t spend evenings watching TV or computer - I simply didn’t have time for that. At the age of 6, I began to professionally engage in sports ballroom dancing; at 13, a coach took me from Cheboksary to Moscow. I was placed in an apartment with two boys - one was my dance partner, and the other was just practicing at our dance club, his mother looked after us. To say that it was hard is to say nothing. Every day after school I went to training, returned home at one in the morning by metro to the other end of Moscow - to Butovo. And the next day everything follows the same pattern. I had no girlfriends or friends, only school and sports, sports and school.

I remember crying every day before going to bed, but I didn’t tell anyone anything. I told my mother on the phone that everything was fine, hung up and started crying.

I quit dancing because I realized that I didn’t want to be a coach in the future, and the ballroom dancers had no other choice. In addition, I developed serious health problems. When I had to move from Moscow back to Cheboksary and leave dancing, I began to feel real depression. I didn't know what to do next.

– And then you decided to take up music?

No, even before devoting myself to dancing, I went to music school, studied vocals and dreamed of becoming a singer. When you are taken to different clubs since childhood, you understand what interests you more and what interests you less. It turned out that ballroom dancing absorbed me, but I knew that sooner or later I would still sing.

– How has your attitude towards beauty changed with age?

I think at school everyone thought that the brighter, the cooler. And when my mother said something about natural beauty, I waved my hand and did it my way - bright eye shadow, blush, lipstick... This happened at school parties. Of course, now I am for naturalness. Or maybe this is just a global trend?

But in general, the most important thing is to feel harmonious. And if you want to paint your lips a bright color or even resort to some kind of surgical intervention, so be it. The main thing is not to overdo it.

– In one of your interviews, you once admitted that you have a lot of complexes. But you look very confident. How do you do it?

Thank you! I really have a lot of complexes! I know that it is wrong to think about them and there is no need to dwell on them. That’s why I’m working on myself, trying to re-educate myself. And I pay more attention to emphasizing my strengths. Previously, for example, it seemed to me that I had a big belly - I constantly wore some kind of robes. Now I deliberately put on tight dresses to take myself out of my comfort zone, to see myself in the mirror and think: “No, everything seems fine.” Such techniques help a lot.

- How do you eat?

I've been a vegetarian for about five years, maybe even more.

- Why?

My husband and I have a lot of friends who don’t eat meat. And time after time, from meeting to meeting, they told us: “How can you eat this? Read what you eat!” And I began to study literature on this topic, watch videos, and came to the conclusion that I don’t want to eat like that. Literally one day I stopped eating meat, fish and seafood. For all 5 years, I never once had a desire to return to my previous lifestyle.

I feel much more comfortable without meat. I feel differently, I am rediscovering some tastes.

-You have a great figure. Slender and fit. What are you doing for this?

Nowadays it is very rare to find time to go to the gym to train. That's why I study at home, on tour. I start each workout with warm-up and stretching. I have a trainer who selects individual programs for me. I love exercises with TRX elastic bands, they are convenient to take with you, you can do them almost anywhere. My standard workouts consist of exercises for the muscles of the arms, back, abs and hamstrings. These are the parts of the body that should always be in shape. And, of course, proper nutrition is very important. You definitely need to watch what and in what quantities you eat.

– What are your favorite places in Moscow? Do you often go to cafes and restaurants?

Due to my busy schedule and schedule at home, I hardly eat. Sometimes I order food for the whole day - it’s very convenient when you know for sure that you won’t be able to cook anything and you’re not sure that you’ll be able to stop somewhere for a snack. My husband and I most often go to restaurants. One of our favorites is located next to our house - the Italian restaurant La Provincia.

We often go to Fresh - they have a very tasty “Barbecue Burger” and a burger with seitan and avocado. There is also a vegetarian menu at Black Star Burger – we go there often too. I used to love Georgian cuisine, Georgian restaurants - for example, “Tinatin”.

I like how Moscow is changing, it is becoming more and more like European cities. I really love Gorky Park, pedestrian streets on New and Old Arbat, Patriarch's Ponds. It’s not often that we get the chance to just go for a walk, but when the opportunity arises, we do it with great pleasure.

-You do your own makeup?

Yes. Always and everywhere - for a wedding, for filming videos and in everyday life.

-Where did you study?

I started wearing makeup as a child; at sports ballroom dancing tournaments I had to look very bright. At first, my mother told me how to use cosmetics correctly. Then I realized what was what, and it was time to experiment. Nowadays it’s much easier to learn - there are many beauty blogs where they explain in very clear language how to hide flaws and highlight advantages.

In general, I am a universal artist - I am my own stylist, makeup artist, and hairdresser. It’s so convenient for me to not depend on anyone and do as I like.

– What’s in your cosmetic bag?

My makeup bag contains only my favorite products that I use year after year, and trendy new products that I spotted from American beauty bloggers. I really love the bareMinerals brand – I’ve been using their concealers for many years. My foundations are the same - Dior Nude and Forever, I have been using them for more than five years. I like Tarte cosmetics, their blushes and highlighters - they have the softest and most pleasant textures I have ever come across. But my biggest weakness is ColourPop matte lipsticks. I can't leave the house without this matte lipstick. I probably already have more than three hundred of them!

– Don’t they dry out your lips?

I have a favorite lip balm from the Japanese brand Forlle'd Hyalogy, which copes with this problem. It is enough to apply it once before bed and your lips will be moisturized for the week ahead.

– How do you take care of your skin?

I used to think that I would start taking care of my facial skin when my first wrinkles appeared. Now I understand that this should have been done much earlier.

I take a thorough approach to all stages of skin care. I have several favorite cleansers. The first is a leveling gel cleanser that my esthetician in Miami makes himself. I wash off my makeup with micellar water, then wash my face with this gel. The second remedy is peeling pads with a special composition, also hand made. They are like cotton pads, very thin and also textured. I wipe my face with it morning and evening.

For a long time I have been using Ultra Moisturiser Cream, Ultraceuticals. I like the Apot.Care leave-in lifting mask. After it you don’t even need to wear makeup, the skin becomes smooth, tightened and fresh.

– Which beauty salon do you go to in Moscow?

I have a favorite clinic - TsIDK, where I go for cosmetic procedures. I get my nails done at the Nail Sunny studio. I get my eyelashes and eyebrows done at my salon, X Lashes by Hanna.

-What are you doing with your eyebrows?

I have microblading. I doubted it for a long time, I was afraid of ruining my shape, but I still made up my mind and trusted the master in my X Lashes salon. Now I wake up with perfect eyebrows.

– And you don’t do hair care? All by yourself?

Yes. I have a cabinet in my bathroom with hair oils - carrot, coconut, shea butter and many others. In total, about 15-20 oils. I apply them at home myself, sometimes at night as masks.

– What interests you, besides family and career?

I love to travel, discover new cities and countries. There was a time when my husband and I only flew to Saint-Tropez. But, fortunately, we realized that we needed to broaden our horizons. Now every year we choose a new place. Last year we were in South America and sailed almost to Antarctica. This year we are also going to America: we will go to Orlando, San Francisco, maybe to some island near Miami.

Separately, I can highlight two places that I am ready to return to again and again - the island of Capri in Italy, where we celebrated our wedding, and Los Angeles, which always charges with crazy energy. There is a warm climate, an atmosphere of lightness, and creative people. We are thinking about moving there after some time.

- Let's imagine that for one day you could transform into someone. Who would it be?

Dance career and beauty pageants

In addition to the fact that Anya sang, she was seriously passionate about ballroom dancing. So, a small hobby grew into a real professional sport, which required a lot of time and effort. She participated in competitions not only in Russia, but also represented her country abroad.

Speaking in her native Cheboksary, Anya understood that she would not achieve the heights that she would have achieved, for example, in the capital of her homeland. Moreover, sports schools there are much higher. Quite often, Moscow trainers flew to her town with master classes and seminars, and the dancer dreamed that one day someone from the capital would notice her efforts and invite her to perform in Moscow. The thoughts turned out to be material, and soon enough she really flew to conquer the capital.

Tiring thirteen-hour training sessions and a full-time job played their role, and already in 2006 Anna became a member of the Aleko dance club, one of the oldest and most prestigious ballroom dance groups in Moscow and Russia. And just a year later, she began to take prizes in competitions such as the Caucasus Cup, Novorossiysk Cup, Volga Federal District Cup and many others. The work paid off in full, and Anya became a candidate for master of sports in sports dancing.

“Hearing that there would be no more dancing in my life, I was overcome with wild depression, it was like a drug, and I had no idea what I would do next.”

She threw herself into the sport and could never have imagined that very soon her dancing career would come to an end. Endless tedious training and not a second of free time led to the fact that at the age of 16 Anya became very ill and spent about three months in a hospital bed. Of course, after such a long break I had to forget about dancing. Moreover, her body needed time to fully recover. “Hearing that there would be no more dancing in my life, I was overcome with wild depression,” the girl recalls, “they were like a drug, and I had no idea what I would do next.”

Anya’s childhood was so active and stormy that she found it incredibly boring just sitting at her desk at school. And even without constant physical activity, her body quickly lost its former shape. Without hesitation, she signed up for the gym, and a little later decided to try her hand at a new business. Anna never considered herself an unearthly beauty, but she really wanted to take part in beauty contests.

Although the future model was very critical of herself, the jury members really liked her. First, at competitions, to her surprise, she took prizes, and then easily beat her competitors and became number one. In 2009, she won the Miss Volga, Miss Chuvashia and Miss Apollo beauty contests, the latter of which traditionally takes place on the coast of Turkey and is named after the temple of the same name. A year later, she took first place at Miss Viva Volga-Don and Miss Volga International. But Anna considers the Miss Russia competition to be the most interesting and difficult, because despite the many worthy and incredibly beautiful contestants, the atmosphere of the event is truly hot. Preparing for a show consists of numerous and exhausting rehearsals, from which you get more tired than from training in the hall. And although the model did not manage to take a prize or enter the top 10, she gained enormous experience.

Filming in TV series

At the same time, Anya studied at the branch of the St. Petersburg State Economic University at the Faculty of Economics and Management at a tourism enterprise. University everyday life was not at all for her, and therefore, having become a fairly recognizable model and earning some money, she decided not to sit still and go to study in a more interesting place. In Los Angeles, she entered the New York Film Academy, where for a year she mastered the profession that she had long dreamed of.

The desire to constantly try herself in something new and be in the center of attention never left Anna. Upon returning from America, she went to the casting of the film “Family Dramas”, where she was given some kind of episodic role. And then she was invited to the humorous series “BarDak”, which aired on the Ukrainian TV channel TET. She agreed and moved to live in Kyiv. In the series, by the way, she got one of the main roles. In addition, she appeared in one of the episodes of the Ukrainian thriller series “Dark Diaries.”

Music career

By the age of 22, Anya Ivanova had already managed to be a vocalist, a dancer, a model, and an actress. She participated in various photo shoots and gave numerous interviews. Did she know that all this was just the beginning of the journey?

In 2013, Anya decided to return to her roots and fulfill her childhood dream. This is how a solo career began and the singer Hannah appeared. The first song that Hannah’s fans heard was “I’m Just Yours,” and a little later a video clip was released. A year later, together with Yegor Creed, she recorded the song “Being Modest is Not in Fashion,” from which the number of fans began to increase at breakneck speed.

In addition, last year she took part in the main celebration of Love Radio - the large-scale concert “Big Love Show”, which took place both in Moscow and St. Petersburg. All her efforts did not go unnoticed. First, she became a nominee for the MUZ-TV Breakthrough of the Year Award, and then was nominated for the Golden Gramophone Award, which is not bad at all for an aspiring performer.

The singer is completely satisfied with her work, although sometimes she has to live in a wild and exhausting rhythm. Talking to journalists, she admits that there are a lot of thoughts and plans for the future in her head. For example, her cherished childhood dream is to perform on the same stage with Enrique Iglesias. And she prefers to remain silent about something more global, because it is better to see the result than to listen about dreams and desires.

At the same time, Pasha, as Pavel is called, flew to Turkey with Timati for a concert.
