Actress Tatyana Bozhok: why the star of Soviet cinema disappeared from the screens 20 years ago
She began acting when she was still a very young girl, and by the age of thirty she had achieved noticeable success. However, after 1991 there is not a single film to her credit. Why?
The future actress was born in 1957 in a simple large family, in which little Tanya was the youngest. Her childhood hobbies, which at first seemed strange to many, would later become her profession. Since childhood, Tanya adored all kinds of performances, and with great pleasure after classes she ran to the Palace of Pioneers, where they opened a drama club.
Participation in the circle and her love for art did not fail to have an impact. Tatyana was only fifteen when she was first called to the cinema. It was the film "The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie." And although Tanya only had to dub the voices of the actors behind the scenes, nevertheless, this was already a good start.
And very little time passed before she was invited to another film, “Every Day of Doctor Kalinikova,” for a small but independent role. And barely after graduating from school, Tatyana received the role of a nurse in the military drama “They Fought for the Motherland.”
Yes, the roles were tiny, far from major. But it was thanks to them that she declared herself as a promising actress. This is probably why, at the age of nineteen, Tatyana is invited to study at the legendary VGIK, and immediately into her second year. Her teachers were Bondarchuk and Skobtseva, from whom the young actress learned a lot.
After receiving her diploma, Tatyana immediately plunged into work headlong. She will star in a large number of films, play in the famous “Jumble,” and will continue to dub films and animation. Tatyana Bozhok often got funny, slightly naive heroines who could not find their female happiness.
Surely many will remember her Lisa, Nikolai’s wife from “12 Chairs”, Mashenka from the film “Front Behind the Front Line”, Marina from the touching film “Ladies Invite Gentlemen”, Lena Chagina from “Anxious Sunday”, Masha from the magnificent film “Singles Are Provided Hostels” "and Inna Kirillovna, mother of Kolya Gerasimov from the children's film "Guest from the Future."
And everything was visually good for the artist. And her career developed, and the directors did not deprive her of attention. And suddenly at some point she disappeared from the screens. At all. And she is only a little over thirty.
Tatyana Bozhok has always been a rather private person and did not allow strangers into her personal life. But according to the conversations that were going on then, the actress actually quit her favorite profession due to the serious illness of her parents. Her elderly father and mother required special care, and the health of their loved ones turned out to be more important for Tatyana than her career and fame.
Later she also appeared in films. But not often. And she no longer aspired to big stars. The last film in which she played a heroine named Faina, “Bolotnaya Street, or the Anti-Sex Remedy,” was released across the country in 1991. And since then, almost twenty years without a single role.
Unlike her film career, the actress was more successful in dubbing films. She has worked on many foreign films and cartoons, and the characters in such famous films as “Beverly Hills”, “Boom”, “Beethoven”, “First Dates”, “Scary Movie 2” and many others speak in her voice.
Tatyana Bortko's high voice allowed her to duplicate women, very young girls, and even children. But, alas, over time the actress’s voice weakened, and she began to be involved in dubbing less and less. The last films that Tatyana Bozhok voiced were “Freddy vs. Jason” and “Shaggy Special Forces.” Both films were seen in our country in 2003.
The last cartoons for which the actress provided voice acting, “The Adventures of the Good Soldier Schweik” and “The Looney Tunes Show,” were released in 2009 and 2011, respectively.
Later, Tatyana Bozhok devotes herself exclusively to her family. She still carefully guards the boundaries of her personal life. But from the little that the public has heard about it, the actress is married and has an adult son.
Does the actress miss her profession? Tatyana Bozhok is reluctant to communicate with journalists. But one day she said the following phrase: “If there is a worthy offer, perhaps I will accept it.” The wonderful artist is only sixty-two. And why shouldn't we admire her performance again? Hey, directors?

Personal life

Unlike her heroines, who often had problems with marriage, Tatyana herself is still happily married. Her love story is amazing. She met her future husband in first grade. And since childhood they have not parted. After school, the actress’s husband graduated from the Institute of Physical Education and became a teacher at school. In the difficult years for cinema in the 90s, he became a real support for the family and supported his wife in many ways.
