Top 10 most beautiful women we admired on television in the 1990s (9 photos)

BIOGRAPHY

Ekaterina Rednikova was born into a simple family. Her father was a senior researcher, and her mother was an economist.

The girl studied at an English special school, and her parents really wanted their daughter to enter MEPhI after graduation. But Katya, from the age of 6, wanted to be an actress and did not give in to any persuasion. Rednikova recalls: “When I was little, my mother worked in a cultural center. The Lenkom Theater came to them with the performances “Clairvoyant” and “Ivanov”, and the troupe needed a girl for episodic roles. Mom was not taken aback and said that she had a girl. They brought me, showed me, and I played in these two performances, after which I was invited to the theater to play children's roles. But my mother refused to take me. Then, of course, she took pity on me. We started going to castings when the radio once again broadcast an announcement that the Mosfilm Film Studio was looking for girls 8-9 years old. So my mother drove me until I was fourteen, and then I went on my own.”

After graduating from school, the girl entered the acting department of GITIS (P. Chomsky's workshop), which she graduated in 1994.

Personal life

In 2005, on the set of the film “Captivity”, Ekaterina met American producer Sergei Konov. They talked for 2 years before the relationship developed into a romantic one (despite the almost 20-year age difference), and in 2008 the couple got married. Solid and personable Sergei is head and shoulders taller than the petite, only 164 cm tall, Rednikova. In addition, the man is a relative of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. But this fact did not affect the artist’s life in any way.

As the actress herself admitted, she was captivated by her husband’s intelligence. Katya fell in love after she read Konov’s book “The Translation Service,” and the lovers decided to formalize the marriage after the direct recommendation of Al Pacino, with whom they had dinner.

Shortly before the wedding, in an interview, Rednikova said that the decision to get married was unexpected for both partners, but they were very happy. In 2012, the 39-year-old actress and 57-year-old producer became parents. The son was named Laurus. Katya was not afraid of age, she knew that “she was born for love, that sooner or later children will appear, and years are not a criterion or motivation.”

In 2020, information appeared that the couple were in a quarrel. The indirect reasons for these assumptions were that Ekaterina and Sergei stopped appearing in public together, and at the Moscow film festival the beauty was accompanied by a certain Argentinean count Alejandro Zichy-Thyssen.

The actress, as the media wrote, admitted that in her youth she preferred to communicate with older people, and was bored with her peers. “Then it went away, and the fact that my husband is almost 20 years older than me is an accident, it just happened that way. I think the ideal gap between spouses is 5-10 years.”

What is happening now in Catherine’s personal life is not known for certain. Rumor has it that the actress never returned to Sergei.

Rednikova does not have a personal account on Instagram, the expected pictures of a celebrity in a swimsuit cannot be found on the Internet, but photos of her favorite actress are published on their pages by devoted fans and colleagues on film sets.

THEATER

Immediately after graduating from the institute, Ekaterina was accepted into the troupe of the Et Cetera theater, where she was almost immediately assigned to the role of Ruth Atkins in the production of Beyond the Horizon. The actress says: “We played this play from 1995 to 2011, until I became pregnant. Sixteen whole years! Not every performance has such a fate! He grew up with us, changed, but we couldn’t play him forever, and he left by himself, just with my pregnancy.”

In “Et Cetera” the actress also played in the performances the Nurse in “The Reluctant Doctor” by Moliere and the Dark Lady in “The Dark Lady of the Sonnets” by B. Shaw.

Ekaterina admits: “Unfortunately, now theater does not occupy any place in my life. If I come to Russia, I’m busy filming and don’t have enough time for the theater. After the birth of my child, I am more in America, and the theater binds me, I need to serve in it.”

Actress's childhood

Rednikova Ekaterina does not hide her biography from her fans. The future star was born on May 17, 1973 in Moscow. Her parents had nothing to do with art: her mother Elena worked as an accountant-economist, and her father Valery was a senior researcher.

At the time of the birth of their daughter, their son Dmitry was already growing up in the family. The brother followed in his father’s footsteps, studied at the Faculty of Cybernetics at the National Nuclear Research University, but when his younger sister became an artist, he chose the profession of a screenwriter. Young Katya loved to communicate with people and sing in public, but she was very shy and modest.

In order for the girl to develop and overcome excessive modesty, her mother began to take her to screen tests. When Katya was in sixth grade, she was sent to a theater studio. The classes bore fruit: Rednikova’s excessive stiffness went away, she stopped being afraid of the public. In the ninth grade, the girl moved to another school, where every second classmate was in love with her.

MOVIE

The actress made her film debut in 1990, playing a cameo role in the film “Womanizer.” After that there were roles in the films “Lessons at the end of spring”, “Risk without a contract”, “Territory”, “Peasant young lady”, and others.

"Thief"

The first main role and, perhaps, one of the most successful works in Rednikova’s filmography is Katya in Pavel Chukhrai’s film “The Thief.” The director searched for a long time for the leading female role, and eventually chose the young actress. The image presented by Ekaterina turned out to be so accurate and organic that today it is difficult to imagine anyone else in her place. “Pavel Grigorievich removed all the moments of my strong outbursts, because the image that we created is the image of a beaten dog with betrayed eyes. The heroine had to be soft and helpless, loving and vulnerable,” says the actress about her character. For her role in the film “The Thief,” Ekaterina won the Nika Award for Best Actress.

Cinema after the 90s

The crisis of the 90s left its mark on all spheres of life, and this especially affected Russian cinema. The actress recalls: “After the Nika Award, I should have, in theory, been inundated with offers, as happens with a person who receives an Oscar, but there was a crisis in the country. I flew high, but there was nowhere to fly. Because there was no sky - the sky was closed. And it was complete horror."

In the early 2000s, the actress lived and worked abroad. She starred in the films “Visa to Death”, “Russians in the City of Angels”, “Border Blues”, “Archangel”. At the same time, Ekaterina also worked in Russia, where she produced the films “I Planned an Escape,” “The Emperor’s Love,” “Saboteur,” “The Irrevocable Man,” “If You Can Hear Me,” and others.

"House"

In 2011, the premiere of the film “Home” directed by Oleg Pogodin took place, in which Ekaterina played the role of Natalia. “My role begins with a love scene involving my heroine and some man. Then we understand that she is with her lover, but she has a husband with whom, as a woman, she is unhappy. And she is like a cat that walks on its own. She is passionate, seductive - such a walking flesh, as they say. And I’m impressed by her character,” the actress says about her heroine.

"Family of the maniac Belyaev"

One of the recent premieres with the participation of the actress is the film “The Family of the Maniac Belyaev,” in which Ekaterina played one of the main roles. In the center of the plot is the respectable Belyaev family, in whose house harmony and comfort reign. In the city, brutal murders occur one after another, and, unexpectedly for everyone, the main suspect turns out to be the head of the family, Kirill Belyaev...

Gossip Man calendar: Ekaterina Rednikova was born

Ekaterina Rednikova was born in Moscow on May 17, 1973. She was born into the family of a researcher and economist, so she did not have much prerequisites for creativity in childhood.
However, since childhood, Katya, although shy, strived to perform. The mother supported the girl’s zeal and even took her to children’s auditions at Mosfilm. As a child, Ekaterina did not receive a single role, but she studied in a theater studio. And the career was ahead. In 1990, Rednikova entered GITIS (now RATI). In 1994, she successfully graduated from the institute. Ekaterina played her first roles on stage in the Et Cetera theater of Alexander Kalyagin. There she embodied the images of Ruth in O'Neill's "Beyond the Horizon", the Nurse in Moliere's "The Reluctant Doctor", and the Dark Lady in Bernard Shaw's "The Dark Lady of the Sonnets". By the way, it was the theater that brought Ekaterina one of her best film roles - the producer of the film “The Thief” came to the rehearsal of one of the performances. But more on that below.

Rednikova made her film debut even earlier than in the theater. Back in 1990, she played a role in Oleg Kavun’s film “Lessons at the End of Spring.” Then, in 1992, she got a role in the film “Risk Without a Contract.” Then there were also works in the films “The Abyss, the Seventh Circle”, “Simple-minded”, as well as a debut in American cinema - the television project “The Devil’s Symphony”. In 1995, Ekaterina starred in the film “The Peasant Young Lady” as Nastya (this is the same film that made Elena Korikova, then still a brunette, famous).

Catherine herself became a real star in 1997. It was then that she starred in Pavel Chukhrai’s famous film “The Thief.” For him, Rednikova received “Nika”. And also, like her partner Vladimir Mashkov, popular recognition.

In fact, Rednikova wanted to get a role in “The Thief” as soon as she read the script. She had huge competition at the audition. Ekaterina was one of the last to audition, but the director approved her.

The audience really liked the film, as did film critics. So much so that the film was even nominated for an Oscar. Alas, the film did not receive an award, but the nomination alone is something to be proud of.

"Thief"

After filming The Thief, Ekatrina set off to conquer Hollywood - her American agent invited her to live in Los Angeles for a couple of months. Rednikova agreed and went to the “city of angels”, where she stayed not for a couple of months, but for a much longer period. True, she acted not only in American films.

In 1998, Rednikova had her first role in the series, although she had previously renounced working on TV. But she couldn’t refuse the role in the project “Impostors” - she easily worked with director Konstantin Khudyakov. And in general, the series had an excellent cast - Igor Kostolevsky and Mikhail Ulyanov played in it.

She also continued the “conquest” of Western cinema. Her next film in this field was the film “Visa to Death”. It was followed by the Turkish film “Balalaika”.

The beginning of the 2000s was marked by a whole string of TV series for Rednikova: she starred in episodes of “Kamenskaya” and “Deadly Force”, and also took part in the filming of “The Emperor’s Love” and “Russians in the City of Angels”. Rednikova’s most successful television films were “Saboteur”, “Nine Months” and “The Last Armored Train”. The first is a famous military-themed series with Vladislav Galkin in one of the main roles. The location of the second is a ward in a maternity hospital. Anna Mikhalkova and Fyodor Bondarchuk also starred in the film. The third is again a picture about war.

At the same time, Rednikova continued to work in the west. For example, she starred in the thriller “Border Blues” by Rodion Nakhapetov with Eric Roberts. However, the most successful role in a foreign film was Zina in the television project “Archangel”. Zina is a prostitute who was “selected” as a mother for Stalin’s third son. The film is based on the bestselling book by Robert Harris. "Bond" Daniel Craig starred with Catherine.

"Archangel"

The years 2006 and 2007 were especially successful for Rednikova. She appeared in one of the main roles in the wonderful drama by Ekaterina Gorokhovskaya “The Irreversible Man”, as well as in the TV series “Leningrad”. In general, it must be said that Rednikova was lucky in retro roles. She played an NKVD lieutenant in the film “Motherland or Death,” as well as a prisoner of ALZHIR in the film “Gift to Stalin.”

"The One Who Turns Out the Lights"

In the coming year, it is planned to release two films with the participation of Catherine - these are “Notes of the Forwarder of the Secret Chancery”, as well as “Gift of Fate”. The first is a historical film by Oleg Ryaskov about events in the life of Prince Menshikov. The second is a drama with Maria Poroshina in the title role.

So far, Ekaterina has concentrated on Russian film production, but this is for the best - she is excellent at playing young ladies, especially historical ones. In addition, Rednikova is now taking care of her family - in 2007 she married producer Sergei Konov.

INTERVIEW

About Me

“Until about the age of twenty-five, I did a lot of things that I didn’t want to do. Simply because it was inconvenient for me to refuse, it was inconvenient to leave. In the end, I realized that doing something that you don’t want to do means wasting your life on strangers, on other people’s desires. And this is stupid. And I learned not to do what I don't want. Let's say today I came to some kind of party, where I need to be not in order to communicate with people I am interested in, but, for example, for the sake of PR for a new film. If for some reason I feel uncomfortable there, I will stay there for exactly ten minutes, take a photo, and then get up and leave. I will do this in English, within the bounds of decency. But there are also situations when people don’t understand my mood, and then I can speak harshly. I can be tough."

About the roles

“The most important thing is that I like the proposed role. It’s always interesting to bring a new image to life on screen; I want to avoid repetition. Another thing is that not much is being filmed now, because times of crisis are again, and at the moment there is not a crazy number of offers. I remember in 2007 I was simultaneously filming seven films. In such cases, you try to choose roles in such a way that all the characters are different, because it’s boring to repeat the same thing.”

Life principle

“I believe that people should be decent. There is honor and conscience, there is something right and wrong. Betraying, plotting, slandering – all this is unacceptable to me.”

There are tons of people like me

E.R.: “Unfortunately, there are few interesting scenarios now,” says Ekaterina Rednikova.
- “Hindu” is an exception in this sense. My heroine, as usual, has to suffer so much! As a result, she dies. As my mother says: “In the movies you will either be killed or starved to death.” Now I’m lucky - for the third time in my entire life, the Script has arrived. And the team of people making Home is amazing. The amazing performances are by Bogdan Stupka, Sergei Garmash, and Larisa Malevannaya. For a long time I thought that I was unlucky. Rarely, they say, do you come across scenarios that make your soul tremble. But I talked to some big actors, and they: “Katya, we’ve never had anything like that in our lives.” Now I think: “Lord, why are you complaining? In 13 years, three wonderful films - “The Thief”, “Gift to Stalin”, “Home”. Not bad at all. “AiF”: - Katya, Oleg Vidov said in an interview with “AiF” that in his time in Hollywood, Russian artists were considered “second-class actors.” Has this difference been leveled off now?

E.R.: — Nothing was leveled out! Of the serious works, I have “Archangel” with Daniel Craig. And the rest of the roles are just one of many... I really look at things and don’t have my head in the clouds, I understand: there are a lot of people like me in Hollywood, and there are also a lot of films made there. 10 thousand per year. Compared to other Russians, I may have done something. The film “Kingdom Come” was supposed to be shot with a budget of 100 million dollars, where I would play the role of Mary Magdalene. But in 2008 there was a crisis... She was supposed to play in the film "Sahara", but they changed the director, and the new one took another actress - Penelope Cruz. And now... Filming has begun on the first 3D action film about the Russian mafia. At first I didn’t want to act - the topic wasn’t very interesting to me. But the director insisted that I play the role: it turns out that he watched “The Thief” and “The Archangel.” And I changed my mind. After all, if you look at the problem that the film raises from a Shakespearean point of view - there are serious passions and a lot of blood - then my heroine is a kind of Lady Macbeth.
