Igor Petrovich Petrenko was born on the territory of the GDR. His father was sent to serve in Potsdam in 1977. The family spent three years abroad and then returned to their homeland.
The future actor Petrenko was not particularly surrounded by a creative atmosphere as a child and hardly dreamed of an acting career. The men on my father's side were military men, my mother's parents were railway workers. Igor’s mother worked as a translator, so at school the young man showed interest only in English. He also practiced martial arts (judo, sambo) and grew up as an ordinary guy.
The year 1992 became a turning point in his life. Then, at the age of 15, the young man was taken into custody and charged with premeditated murder. Igor’s senior comrade shot his creditor, but they acted together, and therefore responsibility turned out to be inevitable.
For a whole year, the guy’s home became the first Moscow pre-trial detention center “Matrosskaya Tishina”. Taking into account his positive characteristics and his minority, Igor was given a suspended sentence, and he returned to normal life. After these ups and downs, the young man became a student at the Shchepkinsky Theater School.
What were Petrenko's first film roles? During his student years, Igor starred in “The Black Room” and “Moscow Windows”. By the way, it was on the set of the last series that his colleague was Ekaterina Klimova, his future wife. The aspiring actor liked acting in films more than acting in the theater. Therefore, after receiving his diploma, he worked a little at the Maly Theater in Moscow and plunged headlong into cinema.
The first works in which Igor drew attention were the films “Simple Truths” and “Conditioned Reflex”. But the real breakthrough in his career came in 2002. He is associated with a role in the military drama “Star”. Lieutenant Travkin, performed by Petrenko, was enthusiastically received by the public. The awards for this work were the NIKA Prize and the State Prize of Russia.
A year later, actor Igor Petrenko was named best young actor according to the Triumph youth award. And in 2004, the cult film “Driver for Vera” was released. Igor brilliantly coped with the role of the young sergeant who won the heart of the general’s daughter. Alexey Petrenko - the cause of the actor’s death
The actor’s life together with his young wife was short-lived - a little more than six years. A couple of days before his death, Petrenko and Azima walked at the anniversary of Emmanuel Vitorgan’s wife, Irina. It was fun, we laughed a lot, ate and drank, and on the evening of February 22, Alexei Vasilyevich passed away. It happened instantly: a blood clot broke off and blocked the artery. The blood supply to the lungs, and then the heart, stopped, and death occurred. When the ambulance arrived, it was too late to provide assistance.
Azima immediately rushed to blame the actor’s eldest daughter for the cause of death. They say that a few days before this, Polina spoke on television about the fact that she and her father had a difficult relationship.
“Unfortunately, Alexey Vasilyevich Petrenko watched this program,” Azima laments. “For my husband, everything he heard was a real blow!” He was very worried. So the body couldn’t stand it.
Polina doubts this: she believes that if her father had been so upset, he would hardly have gone to the Vitorgans to have fun. The reason is different. Heavy food, alcohol, because of this the blood thickens, and if there are prerequisites, there is a high probability of a blood clot - doctors explain this cause of death. Moreover, the actor’s health was already undermined: before that, he suffered two heart attacks - one at 34 years old, and the second at 60.

He did not live to reach this age: he passed away a month before his 79th birthday. Unfortunately, Alexey Vasilyevich never had time to make peace with Polina. She said goodbye to dad only at the cemetery.
