Svetlana Svetlichnaya celebrates her 80th birthday in seclusion

Biography

Svetlana Svetlichnaya was born in the Armenian city of Leninakan in the family of a military man. Like many military families, they often changed their place of residence. She became a first-grader in the small town of Akhtyrka, Sumy region. And the end of school took place in Sovetsk, Kaliningrad region. After the resignation of her father, the Svetlichnies settled in Melitopol. Svetlana’s mother, Maria Fedorovna Zolotareva, was a creative person, she loved to participate in amateur performances and played in plays. She dreamed that her daughter would choose an acting profession. Even in kindergarten, Sveta attended a drama club, and later studied in a theater studio.

Svetlana recalls: “I always wanted to be an artist. When I was little, my mother took me with her to the garrison House of Officers, where she participated in the play “They Have a Homeland.” Her heroine’s child disappeared, and I still have a feeling of the wild grief that she showed on stage. Mom always wanted me to be an artist. At school I was in the forefront of amateur performances, led all the concerts, and read poetry. Dad was the commandant of the city, and everyone was whispering: “Have you seen the daughter of the city commandant?..” Svetlichnaya notes that while she was still pregnant, her mother told her father: “If a girl is born, we’ll call her Svetlana. Can you imagine how beautiful it will sound: “actress Svetlana Svetlichnaya?” After receiving the certificate, the girl went to Moscow, where she easily overcame the competition of 80 people per place, entering the theater institute. In 1963 she graduated from the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography, course of Mikhail Romm. Andrei Konchalovsky, Galina Polskikh and Valery Nosik studied with her.

“When I moved into the hostel, the first thing I heard was a discussion about some Mishka Romm. I firmly believed that this was one of our students. I was filled with curiosity, I wanted to see him: what kind of Mishka was this, about whom half the hostel was talking excitedly? In the second round, I saw Mikhail Ilyich Romm and was dumbfounded... It was raining heavily, and while I was running from the hostel, I got wet all over, I ran in disheveled in a sticky dress. He saw me and said: “Oh, sparrow...” It was easy and interesting for me to study at VGIK. I realized that I am interesting as an actress, this is a big thing: to understand that you are needed. I remember how Mikhail Ilyich Romm came and with what interest he watched my pieces from Tolstoy’s “Cossacks”. He helped me, besieged me where necessary, pulled the anxiety out of me,” says Svetlana.

Height, weight, age. How old is Svetlana Svetlichnaya

Svetlana Svetlichnaya was incredibly beautiful in her youth! It seemed that this woman was born to drive fans crazy. Naturally, they are interested in what height, weight, age, how old is Svetlana Svetlichnaya. Finding out such information is not at all difficult.

To begin with, it is worth noting that the artist’s homeland is Armenia. It was there, in the city of Leninakan in 1940, on May 15, that a cute little girl was born, who was named Sveta, and who was destined to become a star of the Soviet movie screen. Throughout her life, she took care of herself, maintaining the beauty of her face and the lovely shape of her body, gifted by nature. With a height of 166 cm, her weight is 55 kg. Now, despite her advanced age, Svetlichnaya looks fit; you can’t say that she is 77 years old.

Cinema

Svetlana made her film debut by playing in an episode in Mikhail Kalik’s film story “Lullaby.” In her next work, she was entrusted with the main role of Nadya Kolchina in the film directed by Tatyana Lioznova “They Conquer the Sky.” The actress recalls: “I played the wife of the pilot played by Rybnikov. I was aged - he was rejuvenated. But it turned out to be a very good couple. I defended my thesis, and Mikhail Ilyich Romm gave me an excellent grade for this work.”

Other and interesting roles followed. Pavlina in the comedy “The Cook” by Edmond Keosayan, Katya the Mermaid in the ballad “Chistye Prudy”, stewardess Vika in the melodrama “Not Under Judgment”, Nadya Stepanovna in the film adaptation of “Not the Most Lucky Day” based on Yulian Semenov’s story “Dunechka and Nikita”. The actress’s resounding success came from Leonid Gaidai’s film “The Diamond Arm.” She played the fatal temptress Anna Sergeevna in several episodes. Svetlana admits how difficult that scene was for her: “Imagine: what it meant forty years ago to film half-naked in the presence of a huge number of men from the film crew. Plus, people came running from other pavilions: a rumor immediately spread that “now Svetlichnaya will undress.” I became especially nervous when they asked me to rip off my bra and throw it on the floor. She was shaking like an aspen leaf! And Yuri Vladimirovich Nikulin helped me in this situation. He called me aside and said: “Svetka, why are you trembling? Don't look at anyone, just at me, I am my own person. I’ll play along with you in this scene.” He said it so convincingly that all my fears instantly disappeared.” After participating in this film, she began to be recognized on the street, and her father stopped talking to her, who appeared before the audience in the image of a girl of easy virtue. In the 70s, Svetlichnaya’s career was not going well. She received only two notable roles - Gabi Nabel in the spy film “Seventeen Moments of Spring” and Nadia in the legendary series “The Meeting Place Cannot Be Changed.” The actress explains the reason for her lack of demand: “Most likely the reason is my non-Soviet appearance. I traveled abroad very often. Nona Mordyukova was not taken. I was in Mexico, Chile, France, Sweden... I was like Western actresses. And the worst thing for me was that I traveled with other people’s paintings. After all, they didn’t take me for the roles.”

For almost fifteen years she remained in the shadows. But in the 2000s, she reminded herself of herself as an artist in the film “Goddess. How I fell in love” by Renata Litvinova, where she performed a striking role. According to her, she is grateful to Renata for her return to cinema: “I was in complete oblivion when Renata proposed to me. She approved me literally in 15 minutes, and on set I immediately felt that I was being reborn both as an actress and as a woman. Of course, I had to be nervous while filming. But Renata is a very creative and subtle person, she felt everything that I felt. And it helped me a lot."

Then Svetlana appeared in the drama “The Girl and Death” by the famous Dutch director Jos Stelling and in the film story “The House by the Salt Lake” by Igor Vovnyanko.

The last film in which Svetlana Afanasyevna appeared was “The Girl and Death,” where she played an elderly woman named Nina.

Personal life

The actress was married twice. The first chosen one is actor Vladimir Ivashov. The young people met when they were in their second year at VGIK. “She and Zhanna Prokhorenko came to us in their second year. Mikhail Ilyich Romm brought them and introduced them. And everyone at VGIK already knew that they starred in “The Ballad of a Soldier,” which created a sensation at the Cannes and Venice film festivals. I remember well how Volodya came into our classroom: in jeans (which then, perhaps, about a hundred people in the entire Soviet Union had), a cowboy hat, slender, long-legged. And incredibly shy! He had not yet managed to take an empty seat, and the girls of the entire course were already head over heels in love with him. Of course, I won’t hide it, I also liked him right away, but I didn’t show it. To be honest, I thought that he and Zhanna were having an affair. Fortunately, I was wrong... At the rehearsal of the play “Cossacks” based on Leo Tolstoy, according to the script, we were supposed to kiss him. When Volodya kissed me, I felt like an electric shock. I suddenly felt that he was kissing not the heroine of the play, not the actress and partner, but me - Sveta Svetlichnaya. That is for real! That means he likes me. And soon, accompanying me to the hostel where I lived, Volodya unexpectedly admitted: “Svetka, it seems to me that I love you!” These were probably the happiest moments of my life,” says the artist. Six months later, the lovers arranged a wedding. And in 1961, a son, Alexey, was born, named after the main character of “The Ballad of a Soldier.” In the 70s, the personal lives of Ivashov and Svetlichnaya began to crack. Family troubles, mutual jealousy of fans, and betrayal began. She recalls: “The fact that we never broke up was not my merit, but Volodya’s. He understood that I was an emotional person, perhaps even fickle, and I might have some quirks, but he was one-loving, knew how to forgive... I was disgusting. Volodya was sedate. He was, like Karenin, very soft. If I had married someone else, I probably would have had more than one husband. It’s hard to withstand my quirks.” Then the couple had a second son, who was named Oleg. In the 80s, the couple rarely acted in films, and during the perestroika period they were no longer invited to the set at all. They also had to leave the theater-studio of the film actor. Svetlana became a housewife, she raised her sons. And Vladimir suffered from his lack of demand. He got a job as a simple construction worker. The backbreaking work was the reason for his early death. While unloading one of the cars at a construction site, he became ill, he was hospitalized, had surgery, but it did not help. My heart couldn't stand it. He died in hospital at the age of 55. Three years later, her second marriage took place - with the poet and musician Sergei Sokolovsky, Svetlana Afanasyevna got married a week after they met. But the marriage lasted only a month and broke up. With their first husband, Vladimir, they raised two sons, Alexei and Oleg. Outwardly, Alexey looks like Svetlana, and in character, like his father. The younger one, Oleg, is the opposite. “I still regret that we didn’t see Olezhka’s acting talent; he could have followed in our footsteps. But when during perestroika we realized that our profession was too dependent on various circumstances, we began to resist. Oleg sang beautifully, wrote prose, and was a very gifted boy. But he didn't find himself here. I didn't investigate how he left. He is buried at the Vagankovskoye cemetery with his father,” the artist confesses. Later, Svetlana had relationships with hair stylist Ruslan Tatyanin and singer Prokhor Chaliapin. The actress has a granddaughter Maria from her eldest son Alexei. In 2006, Masha gave Svetlana Afanasyevna a great-grandson, who was named after his great-grandfather - Vladimir Ivashov. Svetlana Svetlichnaya spoke about the details of her personal life in the program “The Fate of a Man with Boris Korchevnikov” on the Rossiya 1 TV channel.

Svetlichnaya's second marriage

After the death of Ivashov, with whom most of Svetlana Svetlichnaya’s personal life was connected, she was alone for some time, and then, two years later, she decided on a second marriage, which caused a lot of gossip in her circle - the actress’s new chosen one was nineteen years younger than her.

The bard and artist Sergei Smirnov-Sokolsky charmed Svetlichnaya and allowed her to feel like a woman again. Svetlana Svetlichny’s second husband dedicated poems to her, composed songs, and she could not resist, she herself invited him to marry her.

With Ruslan Tatyanin

However, this marriage turned out to be very short - a month later the actress broke up with her husband, and after a while she met another young man - stylist Ruslan Tatyanin, who was even younger than Sokolsky - the age difference with Svetlana Afanasyevna was about forty years, but this did not bother actress. However, this romance also ended quickly.

Svetlichnaya and Chaliapin

Later, Star Factory graduate Fyodor Chaliapin found himself next to Svetlichnaya, but the actress did not comment on this connection, although she always emphasized that she loves the attention and courtship of men, no matter whether they are adults or young.

Interview

Gerasimov

“All my stumbles, hobbies, misdeeds, to which Ivashov turned a blind eye, will seem like childish babble in comparison with what Gerasimov expected from me. He wanted me to belong to him entirely. For a man with his capabilities, nothing was forbidden. I didn't sleep for several nights, trying to find some way out. And I found, as it seemed to me, the only true one.

I told my husband: “Volodya, I’m so tired after filming in Hungary, I don’t have the strength, I want to be at home with the children. I will have to give up filming with Gerasimov. But I’m scared to tell Sergei Apollinarievich about this alone. Could you come with me?"

The four of us sat at the table. Gerasimov, Tamara Fedorovna Makarova, Volodya and me. I think only my husband did not understand what exactly was happening at the moment. The scene was difficult and awkward, but in the end they let me go. On all four sides. The main role in the film was played by Lyubov Virolainen; she and Gerasimov began a high-profile romance. And they stopped inviting me to filming.”

Years of perestroika

“There was no work for the artist Ivashov. The family needed to be fed, and Volodya went to work, their team was building hangars. The work was physically difficult, the men in that brigade knew that Ivashov was a famous artist, they tried to protect him, they did not allow him to lift weights. But he could not be special and worked hard along with everyone else. But it wasn’t physical work that ruined him, he was strong. He suffered greatly mentally from the fact that he was not in demand as an actor, I understood that he was eating himself.

He and I were actually thrown out of the Film Actor's Theater. There was simply nothing to live on. Volodya rode the subway in the morning in a padded jacket and rubber boots, but people still often recognized him. It was simply killing him.

At that time I was selling women’s boots, one foreign company gave them to me for sale: “You are a famous person, you cannot deceive,” that’s what those foreigners told me. I went to accounting departments and housing offices and offered boots to all the girls. They looked at me like I was an animal in a zoo, but sometimes they bought me. For every pair sold I had one dollar. It was money for me. I understood that if I didn’t step over myself, we would all become homeless or get drunk. And so I earned money, cooked lunch and my boys were fed. I thought I would burn with shame. But children need to be fed. But I’m an artist and I don’t know how to do anything else.

And when Volodya passed away, I even worked as a housekeeper. After all, I didn’t have a pension yet and I simply didn’t have enough money to buy bread and a pack of cigarettes.

A grandiose renovation had begun in one of the apartments at our entrance, and I looked in there one day. There were only workers there, and they said that the owner of the house is from Novosibirsk and rarely comes to Moscow. I left them my phone number and asked him to call me.

He quickly called and timidly introduced himself. I went down to his house and directly said that I could look after their apartment when they were away, clean, do laundry. And if necessary, I can cook a delicious lunch. I may seem frivolous to some in a miniskirt, but I turned out to be a good housewife. Thanks to my mom...

The poor man recognized me, he was so confused, he blushed and waved his hands. He says that he will give me as much money as I ask. I remember looking at him and saying: if you don’t agree, I won’t have anything to eat. That day there wasn’t even money for a carton of milk. I’ve never been able to take money just like that, I’m used to earning money. With your labor. He agreed. He saved me and my children. He left many times more money than he was supposed to, never gave it to him, he was embarrassed. He always left them in the same place.

I conscientiously cleaned the apartment, washed the windows, and made it cozy. I remember going to the store and buying six beautiful wine glasses and arranging them on the table in such an original way. He was as happy as a child. Even after the owner of the apartment left, there was a lot of first-class food left in the refrigerator - he allowed me to take it all. This was the period in my life.”

First and beloved husband

“With Ivashov, my happiness was different. I am an addicted person, I could fall in love, get carried away. Him too. There were periods when I called him: you are my Karenin... I could yell at him, slam my fist on the table, take him to Kurgan, write a receipt to the doctors. He doesn't. He was timid. I was the leader, I stood at the forefront of life. The kids got into mischief at school - I went and sorted it out. The children were praised - I also went and accepted the praise. Volodya is not there. He tried hard, earned money, but most often I made decisions about the house.

Volodya was an excellent cook and could set the table luxuriously. I remember Slava Rostotsky came to visit us and saw the beauty he had created on the table. He was speechless and quietly said: “This cannot be destroyed...” There were years when they called Volodya with job offers, and he was filming, but I wasn’t. I was never jealous of his profession.

I always want to be liked - this can’t be taken away. Why did I often fly to many foreign festivals, often with other people’s films?.. I knew how to present myself as a woman, and in some Germany or Chile I was equal among European or American actresses. She behaved no worse than them. I often caught carnivorous glances from men - I realized that they liked me. But for me the main thing is that I like the person. This also happened... And there were novels, everything happened... A woman without novels, however, a man too - this is an extremely rare phenomenon. If no one pays attention to a woman, then this is a disaster... And a disaster for everyone who is nearby. And if no one pays attention to a man, then he is a wimp. You can’t overuse novels, they sometimes lead too far. I once told myself to stop, I realized that Volodya was guessing and was suffering...

One day he let me experience everything in full: I was on tour in Tallinn, where I had an affair. I called Volodya, muttered something into the phone, so I bought you such a beautiful pullover, he listened, and I understood from his breathing that he didn’t believe in... He met me at the Rizhsky station, in his car. On the way home, we had to stop by a notary and formalize something. The notary was familiar and was waiting for us in the morning. We arrived, began to fill out some papers, and in one of them I write that I am Ivashov’s wife. “This is no longer your count. While you were in Tallinn, I filed for a divorce from you.” With this phrase he shot me. I left the room, boarded the first tram and rode on it until late at night. I didn’t want to drink, or eat, or go to the toilet. Everything in me turned to stone.

Volodya went to live with his sister Gala (maybe that’s why she doesn’t love me so much). I went crazy without him, I understood that if I didn’t return him, I wouldn’t be able to live without him. I hovered around him for a year, using all women’s secrets and tricks. I was looking for all points of contact. But she returned him to the family. I proposed getting married - and we got married. The main thing for me was that Volodya believed me.

I always say: artists should not give birth to children. Categorically. Our profession (if we devote ourselves completely to it) is not compatible with motherhood. I don’t want to name big names whose children ended tragically. But there are many of them. I'll just say about myself...

Filming, tours, concerts, rehearsals. All this comes first in life. Why is my eldest son Alyosha unkind to me? Why did she lose her second son Oleg so early?.. There is only one reason: Volodya and I did not give them enough warmth. My son is hanging on my arm, mom, stay with me... And I have a plane, I need to fly to Chile for a festival. Where is this festival now? And who remembers him? And she lost her son... In the summer they were sent to their grandmother in Melitopol for three or four months, and they needed mom and dad more than grandma’s dumplings. I have festivals, trips, dresses. Sleepless nights because the style is wrong...

Our profession burns out our soul, if we had everything back again, we would never have become an artist. Never! Cinema is sweet poison. This is an illusory deception. A beam of light on a white screen enslaves you like a drug. You give everything for that moment of illusion to flash on the torn sheet of the screen. Incommensurable things - trampling your fate for the sake of these minutes on the screen. I would make a good doctor. I think so. And I would be happier in a white coat.

So what? I really didn’t like it in my life, I didn’t play enough, I didn’t dance enough... I just didn’t do enough.

Why didn't you like it? I’ve been without a man for fifteen years now, Volodya took me away from my youth and didn’t bring me to old age... But there’s still a woman inside me. Journalists sometimes spin who knows what about me, now they say I have an affair with the stylist Ruslan. I just absolutely love participating in his creative experiments.”

Son

“I live with a colossal sense of guilt before my deceased son, before my Olezhka. When one country collapsed and another clumsily and painfully limped into its place, with a life completely different from the previous one, many could not stand it, did not fit into the new conditions and turns. My Olezhka did not fit into his new life. He was very talented since childhood, he danced the gypsy dance simply amazingly. At the age of five he experienced clinical death. After that he changed, the joy left the child. He was severely bullied in the army, so he didn’t even finish his service, and by hook or by crook we were forced to take him away from there. He grew up to be a handsome, healthy man, drew fantastically, and wrote good poetry. But everything somehow went by and in the wrong direction...

It got to the point that he began selling jeans at the market, in the cold, and to warm himself up he became addicted to a glass. “A little bit…” That’s what he said. Then he left Moscow and went to the village, to the Ivanovo region. He lived there and drank almost continuously using the money from renting out an apartment. And one day he was gone.

How did I survive all this? You know, there are thousands, millions of mothers who don't even know where their children are buried. It’s many times harder for them than for me. And my men, Volodya and Olezhka, are lying nearby. And I come to them. Then, I firmly believe that the Lord took him to himself.”

Young people

“There is nothing special about the fact that young people can like me, especially in our time. Some may fall in love with fat people, others with older people, or with very young people. Yes, I appear at presentations with young men; it is indecent to appear there alone. A woman should always be with a man. It's my opinion. It doesn't matter how old he is. Although, if some elderly man with a lot of illnesses told me: “Be my muse,” I would not agree. I need a still unfaded flower in a pot. But not for rolling around in bed. Sometimes you want to talk not on the phone, but with a real person. Besides, I'm a woman. Even if I’m two hundred years old, I prefer to feel men’s gaze on me. At the same time, I need it to be a genius and talent. I would serve him. Yesterday I watched the film “Rehearsals”, in which I saw Misha Efremov’s son Nikita. He is already 25 years old. I miss such acting male charm. I even called him on the phone and said: “Fans often say to me: “Thank you for existing!” So I want to tell you: “Thank you for existing, so talented and charming.” You know, in my person you will always find support.” I don’t want to make excuses, but I have maternal feelings for the young, because I don’t have a son, Oleg. He left at 33.”

Former husband of Svetlana Svetlichnaya - Vladimir Ivashov

Svetlana began an affair with Vladimir after a passionate kiss during one of the rehearsals of the play at VGIK. After this, six months passed, and the couple got married. Svetlana was the envy of all the girls in the country, because her husband became famous for his role in the film “The Ballad of a Soldier.” It was impossible not to fall in love with the main character Alyosha Skvortsov (V. Ivashov).

A year later, a son was born, they named him in honor of the same Alyosha Skvortsov. After the wedding, Svetlana was forced to live in a communal apartment with the Ivashovs. Not only did the beauty have to, but she was also at odds with her mother-in-law. In the 90s, the acting family was left without work. The wife took care of the children and the house, and the husband was forced to earn money at construction sites. Hard work brought the famous actor to the operating table. During the operation, the heart failed, and Svetlana Svetlichnaya’s ex-husband Vladimir Ivashov died. At that time he was only 56 years old.
