Anton Shastun is a famous comedian who gained popularity due to his participation in the program “Improvisation” on the TNT channel. Our hero managed to create a new format of a comedy show, which was warmly accepted by the audience. In each issue, he and his friends never tire of surprising the audience with new scenes and dialogues that are not pre-written by the editors.
Everything that happens on stage is a unique improvisational work, which he does well. But how did he appear on the central television channel? To achieve his goal, he had to go a long way.
On April 19, 1989, Anton was born. The future comedian was born in Voronezh, where he spent all his childhood years. The young man was brought up in a complete family, the boy’s mother and father were far from the creative profession and the world of art, he grew up in a simple working-class family. The parents were against their son's choice and insisted that he receive a serious education. Therefore, after completing school and receiving a certificate, the guy submits documents for admission to the Voronezh State Agrarian University. Here he is enrolled in the first year of studies in economics and management. The student years are the stage in the formation of our hero’s unique humor; at the university he was able to spread his wings and show his talents for everyone to see.
In his first year, he learns about the local KVN team and joins the ranks of the cheerful and resourceful. A little later, the artist becomes captain of the BV University team. The change of leader in the team brought positive results. The guys took part in the local competition, where, thanks to Shastuna’s talents, she reached the finals. The following year they became the undisputed champions of the competition.
The end of his studies was approaching; in his final year, the young man had already firmly decided that he would not devote his life to working in his specialty and would do what he was great at doing - making people laugh. After defending his thesis, a huge new world opened up before him, but where should a talented guy go? Conquer television. From this moment a new stage in the biography begins - a professional career.

Anton Shastun belongs to a generation that grew up under the conditions of the collapse of the USSR, the emergence of independent republics, and the difficult times of the 1990s. Nevertheless, dark events did not prevent him from spending his childhood happily. He studied at a high school in his native Voronezh and participated in all creative competitions. Not a single holiday took place without the participation of the boy. His bright charisma and creative potential attracted attention even then.
School passed with jokes and a carefree childhood, and the moment came to choose a profession. Shastun Anton, with the participation of his parents, entered the local agricultural university. The specialty was not much like a creative one - the Faculty of Economics and Management. Still, the cheerful student found a way to show his acting talent. The university KVN team became the guy’s real passion. He spent hours at rehearsals and perfected his performance on stage.
The direction towards humor rather than drama did not appear by chance. As a boy, he played videotapes of Jim Carrey films. Anton Shastun tried to be like his idol in everything. He imitated the movements of a comedian, made funny faces and amused his classmates. In university KVN it was necessary to move to another level. A script appeared, everyone wanted to see Anton, not Kerry. It was then that the guy realized that he needed to develop his own style.
After graduating from university, the young man rushed to conquer Moscow. Like many modern Russian comedians, his first experience was the Comedy Club project. Anton Shastun auditioned for the youth team, but the recording did not appear on air. Then the guy went to a different program format - “Comedy Battle”. He was harshly judged by the founders and main residents of the club, Garik Martirosyan, Sergei Svetlakov and Semyon Slepakov.
With grief in half, Shastun made it to the next round, but no one appreciated the further performance of the young actor. He flew out of the project, and with it from the airspace of Russia. Two failures in a row only angered Anton, and he didn’t even think about giving up. The guy returned to Voronezh and became a stand-up comedian. He performed in themed bars and developed his diction and ability to improvise.
The preparation of a stand-up comedian was very necessary to perform in the show “A Controversial Question.” This required an immediate reaction to a change in the scenario and, of course, sparkling humor.
Anton Shastun, like other participants in the show, had direct contact with the public. The audience provided topics for jokes and corrected the course of the miniatures. He spent six years on the project and is remembered for hundreds of successful finds. The artist was able to move from “amateurs” to a new level of acting.

Improvisation on TNT with Sergei Matvienko, Arseny Popov and Dmitry Pozov
For six years, Anton took part in an improvisational show in his hometown, “Controversial Question,” where they had a direct dialogue with the audience and acted out funny scenes based on their stories. Seven people took part in the project, our hero was the youngest and most promising.
For Russian humor this was a new and unique direction. Before this, in no other show had the participants come into direct contact with the audience. The whole point is that artists have no way to prepare material behind the scenes in advance. The public personally participated in the creative process.
Soon, TNT producers became interested in the young talents and invited Anton, together with his three colleagues, to the new television project “Improvisation”, which was released under the auspices of the Comedy Club. The premiere took place in 2020 and instantly broke all ratings and received great success. Later the composition of the team changed and remained unchanged to this day. The famous resident Pavel Volya was invited to the program as the host of the show, who distributes tasks to the artists.
Currently, this program is the only one of its kind on television, where the guys do not have a set script and all their body movements and jokes on stage are the result of instant improvisation. Whatever the actors portrayed on air, the whole range of emotions, even kisses. But before the show aired on the TV channel, the guys spent a long time preparing the program in different clubs.
New sections and numbers are constantly appearing in the show; viewers especially remember the “Shockers” number, where the guys try to guess the letter, and if they answer incorrectly, they get an electric shock. One day, during a skit, Anton dropped and broke a glass goblet, eventually injuring his hand, but not seriously. Famous personalities, actors and musicians constantly come to visit the children and take part in group improvisation.

— You always participate in the improvisation of “The Interview” as a guest. Do you know all the guests and their biographies? Are you preparing in advance?
- No. I have enough well-known facts. It’s even more interesting to learn something new right during improvisation.
— If “Mousetraps” could be replaced with something very pleasant, what would it be?
—What is pleasant to walk on? On the carpet, probably.
— Imagine that the producers decided to add a fifth to your four – a very famous artist. Who would you rather have in your company (anyone at all)?
- Megan Fox. And it doesn’t matter how she improvises.
— Who do you think improvises better – women or men?
— I think men improvise better when meeting a woman.

— Which of the stars of the new season was especially memorable (Gudkov, Mot, Varnava, Sysoeva, MBand, Nezlobin, Gorelikov)?
— I wouldn’t single anyone out. Everyone was bright. Each one was memorable in its own way.
— Do your family watch “Improvisation”? What do you especially like?
- Relatives are watching. The family loves everything! Well, except for mousetraps and shockers, of course.
— Did you often improvise as a child? Did you have to invent it?
— I haven’t mastered humorous improvisation since childhood. Like the lion's share of comedians in our country, I played in KVN. But without achieving success there, at the age of 18 I began to study improvisation.
— Is improvisation one of the hardest humorous genres, where people learn to improvise?
— It’s better to ask our creative producer this question. It’s no secret that improvisation is a fairly developed genre in the world. It appeared in our country recently, with the release of our program. All of these improv games are classics and are played by a lot of people. To learn how to do this, you need to constantly practice. Of course, there are various books, but I haven’t read any of them to the end. Our producer gives us some excerpts, all the most important things.
— How do you prepare for the show?
— Of course, we are preparing for the transfer. Many people ask if we have rehearsals? We call this training. We do not have prepared text. We are simply preparing different competitions schematically, bringing them to the point of automation. Our preparation consists of performances. We hold “tech parties” before filming. These are mini-concerts where we try new formats and remember how to play old ones. We also have a creative team. Their preparation consists of writing all the characters and topics on which we will actually need to improvise. They work separately from us so that we don't know anything. I don't need a special attitude. You just need a good mood!
— Are there comedians, authoritative humorists who inspire you and whom you would like to emulate?
— I usually watch the work of other artists and humorous programs in order to basically be aware of what is happening in the path of humor today. As a child, I really liked Jim Carrey, and even today I consider him a brilliant comedian... I won’t say that I draw any special inspiration, because most often I watch improvisations and other formats purely from a professional point of view, not as an ordinary viewer.

— Do humor have its own trends? Fashion for some jokes, formats?
- I have a different opinion. In fact, in our country there are many improvisational theaters, in large cities, in Siberia, in the Urals. Moreover, there are good ones who draw full houses to their productions. It seems to me that this may well become, well, if not a movement, then one of the fashionable topics... And followers will appear among us too.
— Do you have a favorite improvisation?
— My favorite improvisation is “Interview,” when I answer questions in the guise of celebrity guests. Because I can say anything and find out if it's true or not!
— Often you have to immerse yourself in the image of a girl. Do you understand women better?
— This was not specially planned. It’s just that a couple of times on the set Pasha (Pavel Volya - host of the show “Improvisation” - editor’s note) decided to give the role of the woman to me, and the other guys liked it. And so it happened. Do I understand women better? No. I still don't understand girls very well.
— There are only guys on the team. What happens if you include a girl in the lineup?
- Most likely, we will quarrel. But considering that Arseny and Dima are married, only Seryozha and I will quarrel.
— How many girls does it take for the improvisation to end?
— There are five of us on stage. Accordingly, five girls are needed for the improvisation to end. Or six. Well, the more the merrier.
- Are you friends in real life? Or is your relationship limited to the stage?
— The guys and I communicate well and are friends. We have known Dima for a very long time, so perhaps we know each other better. Although we communicate well with both Arseny and Seryozha. In general, we have a large team with a very friendly atmosphere.

- You are always visible. Do you take care of your image?
“I really love bracelets, but it doesn’t mean anything.” I just collect them. But I prefer comfortable clothes. I don’t particularly pay attention to style.
— How do you like to relax?
— I like to relax in the summer. This is my favorite time of year. If you vacation in winter, you need to ski, snowboard, and so on... But I don’t know how. But I can swim. So I'm swimming. Although you can still go in winter to where it is summer now. This is also an option. Ski slopes are not my thing. I've been to places like this a couple of times. It's incredibly beautiful there. But I don’t know how to ride anything, so I’m a little bored there. Hunting and fishing are not my thing either. But beaches and excursions, yes! This is what I love!
— What are the three coolest places you would like to go to?
-Grand Canyon. Bermuda Triangle. Paradise (“Paradise” is a cafe in Voronezh, they say the food there is very tasty).
— What are your plans for the coming autumn? What events/projects are you preparing for?
— The coming autumn will be very busy. We will be filming Improvisation and then touring. A lot of touring! About 50 cities. I think it will be very difficult and very interesting.

Participation in other television programs
Our hero did not immediately get into a rating show on TNT. To do this, he had to go a long way. After graduating from university, he tried his hand at the Comedy Club stage, but in the end the episode with his participation was never aired.
Later, he takes part in the Comedy Battle program, where he tries to make it to the finals, but the judges did not appreciate the guy’s performance. Despite this, he was remembered by the public for a long time. After this, he returns to Voronezh, where he participates in the “Controversial Issue” project for six years.
In 2020, fame came to him after the release of the show “Improvisation”. After this, he can be seen in many programs on TNT. He appeared in the final season of “Money or Shame,” where Uncle Vitya asked provocative questions. In the “Where is the Logic” program, together with Sergei Lazarev, he solved puzzles. In the New Year's edition of the Studio Soyuz project, he guessed songs, and also took part in the project “Don't Sleep”, “Selfie” on TNT4.
