In the shadow of a star: 3 inconspicuous wives of Russian celebrities who will endure anything

In June of this year, Sergei Makovetsky turned 61 years old. The artist has become a national figure for Russians not only by title, but also thanks to the enormous love of millions of viewers who admire the work of this amazingly organic and bright actor.

And today, the winner of “Nika”, “Golden Eagle”, and other prestigious awards remains a sought-after actor. His fans are interested not only in the work of their idol, but also in his personal life. Makovetsky does not hide the fact that he has never had a shortage of fans, but for many years he has loved the only woman - Elena Demchenko. After 36 years of married life, they treat each other as tenderly and reverently as in the first days of their acquaintance.

As in any family, anything has happened over the years, but the couple carried their love through all the trials.

Carier start

After Sergei graduated from theater school, the young actor’s career somehow did not work out. Although he was accepted into the troupe of the Vakhtangov Theater, he was not given significant roles. Makovetsky dreamed of cinema, but he was refused at Mosfilm. Sergei decided to try his hand at Odessa and did not regret his decision. At a local film studio, he was immediately offered to star in the film “I am the son of working people.”

Moscow saga

Belokamennaya greeted the young talent far from friendly - already at the Kievsky station the gypsies “extracted” 50 rubles from the gullible Ukrainian. Sergei had no other money, and had to spend the night in the front doors and on a station bench. His goal was the Moscow Art Theater School, but the guy was not accepted there.

He asked to join theater classes under the guidance of Oleg Tabakov and Konstantin Raikin, but did not find support from these luminaries. Recruitment for Shchukinka was still ongoing, and Sergei decided to try his luck there. The attempt was successful and, after five years of study, earned him an acting diploma in 1980.

Alla Kazanskaya gave him a chance in acting.

The first place of service of the actor Makovetsky was the Vakhtangov Theater. In it, the debutant was immediately given the main role of Karp Poluda in the play “Old Russian Vaudevilles”. For many years she was the only one on his track record, not counting episodes and appearances in the crowd. But Makovetsky waited for his time, playing in cult theater productions. Among these it is worth highlighting the performances:

  • "Eugene Onegin";
  • "Uncle Ivan";
  • "Rose and Cross";
  • "Mystery-Buff".

The actor’s “romance” with this theater lasted for four decades. In parallel with his work at the Vakhtangov Theater, Makovetsky began collaborating with the Roman Viktyuk Theater. The venerable director almost immediately offered the young actor the role of composer Dmitry Shostakovich in the play “Lessons of the Master.” With Viktyuk, Makovetsky shone with all the facets of his talent. He impressed critics and theater fans with his participation in:

  • "M. Butterfly";
  • "Love with an idiot";
  • "Oginsky's Polonaise".

The track record of theater actor Sergei Makovetsky includes work in the Youth Theater and the Stanislavsky Drama Theater. He traveled to many cities in Russia with entrepreneurs.

An aspiring actor and the daughter of an admiral

Sergei still remembers the day of his first fee. He was running along the corridor of the film studio, rejoicing at the work he had received and a good salary, when he suddenly heard a question addressed to him from a young woman who was standing with director Govorukhin. She asked if the young man wanted to marry her. It would seem that Sergei, who was in an excellent mood, answered the affirmative to a humorous question.

The woman Makovetsky promised to marry is Elena Demchenko. She comes from a very wealthy family, the daughter of an admiral. By the time she met Sergei, she was 42 years old and was raising a son. When asked a question by an unfamiliar young actor, she was provoked by Stanislav Govorukhin, who claimed that at this age and with a child in her arms, no one needed her.

In the evening Makovetsky burst into her office with the question: “Where is my wife?” She didn’t recognize him at first... A love that has lasted for 36 years began with a joke.

Family

Sergei Makovetsky met his future wife on the set when they were filming different films.

Sergey and Elena

That day, Elena’s colleagues made fun of her, saying that at her age, even with a child, she might not expect to get married. And the woman then replied that she would marry the first person she met , who, by luck, turned out to be Makovetsky.

Elena Demchenko and Sergei Makovetsky

Elena did not give up her promise and invited the man to get married, and Sergei agreed. Until recently, the woman thought it was a joke, until Makovetsky took her to the registry office. Elena Demchenko was 18 years older than him , and she already had a son from her first marriage. But nothing stopped the lovers from officially getting married in 1983.

The couple have been together for more than thirty years, and Sergei admitted to journalists that he never regretted his decision.

The couple has no children together; together they raised Elena’s son. There was a period when the couple was ready to divorce due to the actor’s addiction to alcohol. But he pulled himself together when he saw the pain in his adopted son’s eyes, after which he gave up alcohol forever.

For your loved one to Moscow

What could an aspiring young actor offer to the admiral’s wealthy daughter? Sergei really wanted to impress his chosen one: he spent his entire fee on champagne and gifts for Lena. But she understood this and brought him delicious sandwiches on dates. When filming ended in Odessa, it was necessary to decide what to do next. Sergei had to return to the capital, to a room in a theater dormitory. Lena, without hesitation, agreed to the move.

The wisdom of Elena, who is 18 years older than her husband, helped her to withstand the test of poverty. She understood perfectly well that in order for a man to succeed, he must be constantly praised. Every day she inspired her husband that success and recognition awaited him in the near future.

My view of the world

Sometimes it is very difficult to believe in yourself and your strengths and capabilities.

We are so used to criticizing and being criticized that our confidence and sometimes self-esteem remain in the shadows.

Self-confidence, in your capabilities, the knowledge that they are limitless - this is my view of the world!

In my opinion, our happiness depends only on us, and sometimes we are forced to compromise in order to be happy, the main thing is to be sure that this is only a temporary situation. but it can serve as a means to achieve our goals.

The attitude you have in your life today is very important for your tomorrow. Be happy here and now, believe in yourself, in your capabilities, in your strengths and abilities!

Arriving in Moscow, Elena worked for some time at Mosfilm, and then devoted her life to her family. While her husband shone on stage and in films, she remained in the shadows.

Elena was always confident in Sergei's loyalty. She knew that there were no other women for him, although she did not hide the fact that she controlled him: when he went on tour, she knew second by second how his day went. But one day the actor went on tour to Paris and stopped calling his wife, although they usually called each other every hour. Because of her worries, she lost 7 kilograms. Meeting her husband at the airport, she was already prepared for what Sergei would tell her about another woman.

When it turned out that the actor was robbed in France and he lost his phone and ring, Elena breathed a sigh of relief. Sergei did not allow other reasons for jealousy - he even dealt with his fans on his own. One day he told a particularly persistent one of them that he agreed to communicate, give advice, but nothing more. This did not suit her, and she moved on to another actor.

For more than 36 years of relationship, Elena never regretted that she once linked her fate with Sergei, and he never let her down. The couple have no children together, but Elena’s son filled this gap. The Makovetskys are still together and happy - their love has overcome all trials.

Sergey Makovetsky. Non-random encounters

“I would be glad, as they say, not to film Makovetsky, but since there is no one better, I have to film him,” Sergei Ursulyak says jokingly about the People’s Artist of Russia. But at the beginning of his career, Sergei Vasilyevich himself could not even imagine that he would be in great demand among famous directors...

Surprisingly, the documentary film “Sergei Makovetsky. Non-random meetings” with a plot in... a bathhouse, where Makovetsky himself steams. Why in the bathhouse? “The fact is that the actor not only loves to take a steam bath, the bathhouse is the first place where the young Seryozha Makovetsky, who came to conquer Moscow, went. I washed myself and, as they say, was born again. So that, although not immediately, but having survived poverty and despair, but to conquer the capital,” explained producer Ivan Usachev. But the actor really had to go through a lot...

Sergei Makovetsky was born on June 13, 1958 in Kyiv. The future actor was raised by his mother Anna Grigorievna. Seryozha did not know his father - he left his wife before giving birth and was never interested in the fate of his son. To feed, clothe and educate the child, Anna Grigorievna spun like a squirrel in a wheel. Therefore, the boy’s childhood was quite happy. In his youth, Sergei had many hobbies: he played the drum, sang in the choir, then took up water polo seriously (even aiming to join the adult team). But fate decreed otherwise. In the eighth grade, Seryozha accidentally walked into the library, where his English teacher was rehearsing Ostrovsky’s play with high school students. She invited him to take part in the play. From that day on, Makovetsky’s life turned upside down. After school, he dreamed of entering the Kiev Theater Institute, but failed his essay. What did the future actor do then? And when did he decide to go to Moscow? His school friend Nina Nizheradze talks about this.

After graduating from the Shchukin School, Makovetsky came to work at the Vakhtangov Theater. But here the fate of the capable graduate did not work out. It didn’t work out with movies either. “I came to Mosfilm, we stood, looked with hungry eyes. The assistant came out: “You, you, here you are, come in, everyone else is free.” And I was always among those who were free,” recalls Sergei Vasilyevich. Then he went to Odessa. It was this city that brought the actor his first roles, for example, in the film “The Crew of a Combat Vehicle.” But most importantly, here he met his future wife Elena. Under what circumstances did the future spouses meet? And how did the young actor win the beauty’s heart, spending his entire first fee - three thousand rubles? Elena, together with her little son from her first marriage, went from a prosperous life in Odessa to another life - Moscow, half-beggarly, but shared with Sergei. At times it seemed that everything was hopeless, that there would be no big roles and recognition of the talent of the actor Makovetsky. Due to a scandal in the theater, he was transferred to janitors. And one day, in the courtyard of the theater, director Roman Viktyuk noticed the actor clearing snow. It was Viktyuk who brought Makovetsky back to the stage and gave him the main role. First, in the play “Lessons of the Master,” the actor played Dmitri Shostakovich, and then began working with Viktyuk on the play “Madama Butterfly,” which brought him fame. Here, it seems, the filmmakers realized what kind of talent they had not noticed before. The films “Patriotic Comedy” and “Makarov” by Vladimir Khotinenko made the actor popular. His wife Elena was sincerely happy about her husband’s success. But along with success came fans and temptations. And one day, when Makovetsky went on tour to Paris, she suspected something was wrong. Sergei didn’t call and didn’t tell me how he got settled or what was going on. The entire time he was in France, he never made himself known! Elena was sure that the other woman was to blame. “I lost seven kilograms in a week from nerves,” says Elena. “And I couldn’t eat because I understood that something terrible had happened to me.” At the airport, where she came to meet her husband, he appeared without a wedding ring... “But everything turned out to be completely different from what the woman had imagined. Makovetsky was simply robbed in Paris and even his wedding ring was taken off. And the actor didn’t call his wife because he didn’t want to worry her. True, it should be noted that a woman did appear in the life of the spouses who almost separated them. Yulia Palagina
