Sports career of Andrei Sviridov
In addition to his acting career, Andrei achieved great success in sports. The boy was involved in all kinds of sports from the age of 5. But when it became obvious that the child’s height would be above average, it was decided that Sviridov would go to basketball. Andrey started at a children's and youth sports school in Mogilev, and later entered the Republican State School of the Olympic Reserve.
By the time he came of age, the guy had earned the title of master of sports and champion of Belarus. He had two victories in all-Union championships. And in 1994, the actor received a gold medal at the European Youth Championship.
Thanks to such remarkable successes, Andrei was invited to the USA to play for the Washington basketball team. There he continued his studies at George Washington University.
Unfortunately, at the age of 25, Sviridov received a serious injury and this ended his sports career.
Second trip to the USA
Andrei Sviridov, whose height and weight are known to all his fans, began to think about what to do next. He remembered his childhood dream - to become an actor - and decided to make it come true. To do this, Andrei again left for the USA to receive an appropriate education. The young man entered one of the best schools in Los Angeles - Beverly Hills Playhouse, and after graduation he made contact with an acting agency.
But despite this, Andrei Sviridov, whose height and weight impressed the directors, was not in great demand. His career in Hollywood progressed rather slowly. He periodically appeared in music videos and commercials for Hall's and McDonald's. In 2004, Sviridov received a cameo role in the film “Stories from the Other Side.” Participation in this project helped Andrey gain experience on the set. This did not go unnoticed, and in 2005 the actor was invited to play the leading role in a short film about fame and revenge called “Theft.” In the same year, Karen Oganesyan was filming the action movie “I’m Staying” in America and invited Andrei to participate in the project. Everything was going well until a severe knee injury occurred, which put an end to Andrei’s professional sports career. In the USA, no one needed him anymore and he had to radically change his life. Since childhood, he loved cinema and was not averse to becoming an actor, so he decided to move to Los Angeles and enroll in the Beverly Hills Playhouse acting school, where, by the way, Brad Pitt and other Hollywood stars once studied.
Thanks to his physical attributes, he managed to get a job as a security guard at California's Disneyland. At the same time, Andrei starred in various commercials. For example, he starred in a McDonald's commercial and a video for Enrique Iglesias. The aspiring actor also had small roles in Hollywood films. True, they did not bring much success.
The young actor was already thinking about quitting filming until he met the famous Russian actor Andrei Krasko, who invited him to move to Russia. In the post-Soviet countries, there was a boom in action films about the 90s, and the type of thug was just right. Andrey regularly starred in the roles of security guards and criminals.
Then there were roles in television series, for example, “Don’t Be Born Beautiful”, “Our Russia”, “Happy Together”, “Closed School”, etc. The role of a hefty security guard was assigned to the actor, and they began to recognize him. One of Sviridov’s friends joked that from now on the guy can only be an athlete on the screen. Andrey laughed, but remembered this joke, and then thought about it.
His thoughts led to the guy entering an American acting school. Thanks to his tall stature, memorable texture and charisma, Sviridov starred in music videos of famous singers, several American films and McDonald's advertisements.
Sviridov was persuaded to return to Russia by Andrei Krasko, with whom he met on the set of the project “I’m Staying.” Krasko assured Sviridov that he needed to act more often and advised him to return to his homeland.
Andrey did just that. And thanks to his height (2 m 12 cm), the tall artist was able to easily get the roles of security guards, thugs and bodyguards.
In 2008, the actor starred in the science fiction film “Inhabited Island.” And his participation in the series “Univer” brought him real fame. The oligarch's security guard appeared in the frame quite often and was perfectly remembered by the audience.
