Borisov Lev Ivanovich was born on December 8, 1933 in Russia, in the ancient city of Ples. He lived to be 77 years old and his zodiac sign is Sagittarius. Lev was one of the famous Soviet and Russian actors, and also received the title of People's Artist. Marital status: married, has two daughters - Tatyana and Nadezhda. The date of death of the popular artist is November 15, 2011.
Actor Lev Borisovich: biography
The famous artist was born into an intelligent family. Lev’s mother worked as an agronomist, and his father was the director of an agricultural technical school. When the Great Patriotic War began, the family moved from Yaroslavl to Alma-Ata. The father of the future actor went to fight at the front, and a woman with two children tried to survive in such a difficult time. After some time, she decided to return to her hometown.
In addition to Lev himself, there was also an older brother, Oleg, growing up in the family. Both brothers loved to play football. During their school years, the children studied poorly. However, they were praised for their participation in various productions in the drama club.
When the war ended, the family moved to the Russian capital. Borisov’s mother got a job at VDNKh as a tour guide. In addition, she had additional income. During non-working hours, she received clients for whom she sewed various clothes. Therefore, their grandmother Anna Vasilievna began raising the children.
GRANDMOTHERS AND GRANDFATHERS
Did your dad tell you about his parents?
Often. Unfortunately, I didn’t know them; my grandparents passed away before I was born. Grandmother, Nadezhda Andreevna, was an agronomist, grandfather was the director of an agricultural technical school. They met when his grandmother was his student. They got married, had sons, and then the war began. Grandfather went to the military registration and enlistment office in civilian clothes and returned in military clothes. Preparations began for the evacuation from Yaroslavl, where they then lived, to Alma-Ata, and grandfather was appointed head of the train. Naturally, the whole family was nearby. From Alma-Ata, my grandfather was sent to the front, but my grandmother stayed with her two sons and tried to gain a foothold at the plant, but there were no places. Six months of wandering, after which they were forced to return back to their native Yaroslavl. The journey back was incredibly long and difficult... Many years later I had a graduation performance based on Roshchin’s play “Echelon”, where in one of the scenes people are traveling in a cold carriage and warming themselves by a stove-heated stove and everyone is trying to tie their kettle to this potbelly stove. Dad was moved to tears. Memories of how they rode in lice, in the cold, in hunger came flooding back to him. And how Oleg, at one of the stations, decided to collect coal in a small bucket in a nearby freight car. He climbed up, and dad stood on the ropes. And there is a sentry with a rifle. Oleg took as much coal as he could, quickly jumped off and returned happy that he would make his mother happy. My father only realized many years later that the guard had seen everything and had simply pretended not to notice.
“GRANDFATHER WAS SENT TO THE FRONT, BUT GRANDMOTHER STAYED WITH TWO SONS, TRYING TO ESTABLISH A ESTABLISHMENT AT THE FACTORY”
What else do you know about the childhood of the two brothers?
My father said that he and Oleg herded cows. The eldest was on a horse and knew how to ride without a saddle, and dad, since he was the youngest, ran barefoot and drove. One day they had to drive a herd from one village to another, but one calf got lost. Dad ran after him, but the grass was high, and he only saw the calf’s tail. Suddenly the tail disappeared. The young beater only had time to think: “Where could the calf have gone, failed, or what?” And at that very second he himself fell into a dung pit, near the calf. The rescuers rode up on horseback, and first of all, of course, they pulled out the calf. Dad, remembering, laughed: “That’s how I’ve been in shit all my life, but not completely.”
“BEFORE ENTERING HE WENT TO KIEV TO VISIT HIS BROTHER, AS WELL AS FOR A BLESSING, HE ALREADY WORKED IN THE THEATER”
Both Oleg and dad loved to play football. They filled the tire with hay, and this was a soccer ball. Dad was coached by his brother, he really loved scoring goals for him. Both studied poorly and had problems with the exact sciences. But they were successful in drama clubs. In 1946, my mother moved with the children to Moscow and worked as an agronomist and tour guide at VDNKh. She was an excellent seamstress, she sewed for the whole family and took work home. Her mother, Anna Vasilievna, was mainly involved in raising her grandchildren, and was a very kind and wise person. But she spoiled the children, especially Lev, as the youngest. The mother gave the names to her sons: Oleg, according to his passport, Albert, in honor of Prince Albert, who then arrived from Europe. The lion was named after Leo Tolstoy.
Were you named after another grandmother?
The parents were expecting a boy and had already named him Ivan in honor of his grandfather. But a girl was born, my mother, seeing me, said: “This is my Hope.” Dad answered her: “What doubts can there be, we’ll name it after my mother.” The final point was made by the taxi driver who took us from the maternity hospital. Looking at the two already adult parents, he said: “Of course, name the girl Nadezhda, since this is your hope!”
What was the relationship between the brothers?
We often visited each other, celebrated birthdays together and always attended premieres. Oleg Ivanovich and Lev Ivanovich were closely related to each other. I’m annoyed that I didn’t have time to communicate more closely with Oleg Ivanovich, I was young and shy, and he was always strict and thoughtful. When they write that dad was jealous of his brother, these are pathetic lies. Father is not an envious person by nature. Yes, he had ups and downs in his life, but it was thanks to them that he became what he became. And Oleg was very worried that his dad’s first part of his career was difficult... Oleg Ivanovich’s son Yura became a director. At one time, he came to GITIS to see his teacher friend to watch his graduation performance, we met (I was a first-year student at the time). I rushed to him, we hugged. He says: “Well, how do you like it?” I answer: “Everything is fine.” Yura smiled knowingly; he already knew what awaited the theater student when the doors of the university spit him out into the sea of life. Because of the age difference, we communicated, but were not friends. Now, I think, we would become friends. But, unfortunately, Yura passed away in 2007...
Teaching and theater
Actor Lev Borisov, whose biography we are considering, after receiving a certificate of secondary education, decides to enroll in a theater school. There he began to study with his friend Vladimir Zemlyanikin. He told his older brother about his choice, who did not approve of his path and advised him to pay attention to football.
Contrary to his brother’s instructions, Lev Borisov submitted documents to the Shchukin School. After he received his education diploma, he decided to leave Moscow. The future artist visited many cities and even managed to work in the provincial theater of stage assemblers. After some time, Borisov found a place where he worked for the next 14 years - the Drama Theater on Spartakovskaya. And already in 1987, the artist moved to work at Ermolova’s theater.
The beginning of an acting career
After graduating from the studio school in 1928, he was accepted into the main cast of the troupe, and so began a life-long creative journey, and thus Alexander Borisov, an actor, was born. His biography is inextricably linked with this Academic Drama Theater; here he will play until his last days. The unusual aura of these walls gave birth to more than one galaxy of amazing stage actors; Borisov himself served here for more than sixty years.
Two years later he was entrusted with playing the first major role in the play “Eccentric” by A. N. Afinogenov. Borisov reproduced on stage the image of the poet and enthusiast Boris Volgin with amazing accuracy. His subsequent works included images of a wide variety of types. These were the fighter Stepan from the production of “The Winners” by B.F. Chibisov, the embodiment of Ostrovsky’s classic heroes - Gavrila from “A Warm Heart” or the tragicomic Arkasha Schastlivtsev from the play “The Forest”. In general, this amazing ability of his to play seemingly the most opposite roles, the plasticity of character will subsequently be appreciated by viewers and critics.
He gave himself entirely to the theater, lived and suffered on stage. A wonderful group of young and bright artists has formed here, a talented troupe, of which actor Alexander Borisov forever became a part. The wife also worked in the theater; they became close to Olga Bibinova by chance, met on tour and realized that they could not live without each other. In her last interview, the actor’s widow, already an elderly woman, told how she immediately fell in love with a young man with a sensual voice, for which Alexander Borisov, the actor, was so famous. The personal lives of artists during Soviet times did not become public knowledge, so little is known about their journey together.

Difficult period
After some time, the actor stopped acting in films. In many interviews, Leo's daughter shared that her uncle was worried about his younger brother. She also refuted the idea that her father was jealous of his older brother. After all, Lev Borisov is not an envious person and was happy with who he became.
However, in 2007 an unpleasant situation occurred. At that time, the talented artist was on tour. He was asked to give the gift to his older brother. To which Borisov reacted sharply and said that he does not maintain close relations with his relatives. Lev’s friend and colleague, Vladimir Zemlyanikin, volunteered to comment on this behavior. He assured that the friendly communication between the two brothers ended due to Leo’s addiction to alcohol. In addition, this is why Borisov was no longer invited to some film shoots.
Movies
The first picture in the filmography of student Borisov was “Certificate of Maturity”, and in it a cameo role. After graduating from university, Lev Ivanovich acted regularly. “Height” (character Boris Berestov), “Street of Youth” (Konstantin Lubyanoy), “The Fate of a Man” (platoon commander), “The Same Age of the Century” (driver) appeared on screens with his participation.
Lev Borisov in the film “Height”
Then there was a break in his creative biography. According to Nadezhda, Oleg Ivanovich was very worried that her father’s creative life at first did not develop the way every artist would like. And the opinion that the younger brother was jealous of the older one is not true, since Leo is not an envious person by nature, and thanks to the ups and downs that happened, the actor became what he became.
However, on tour in Lipetsk in 2007, in response to a request to give a gift to Oleg Ivanovich, Borisov Jr. sharply stated that he did not maintain relations with relatives and did not want to talk about this topic. According to friend and colleague Vladimir Zemlyanikin, the basis of the brothers’ disagreements is Lev’s addiction to drinking. For the same reason, the main roles in films passed by Borisov, and sometimes he was simply removed from filming.
Lev Borisov in the film “12 Chairs”
Since the mid-70s, minor roles followed again: fitter Mechnikov in “12 Chairs”, Yakov Silin in “The Visitor”, Nechkin in “A Particularly Important Assignment”, Obolnikov in “Visit to the Minotaur”. In 1987, one film was released for two - “The Gardener”, in which Oleg played Uncle Lesha Glazov, and Lev played Nikolai Steklov.
In the era of new Russian cinema, Lev Borisov appeared in Vladimir Menshov’s comedy “Shirley Myrli”, “Barkhanov and His Bodyguard”, and the mystical thriller “Snake Source”. National popularity came to the actor with the image of the criminal authority Antibiotic in the acclaimed series “Gangster Petersburg”.
Lev Borisov in the TV series “Gangster Petersburg”
According to Borisov, his character had a prototype: creating the image of a thief in law, Lev Ivanovich adopted a lot from Vladimir Kumarin, the leader of the so-called “Tambov” criminal group, nicknamed Kum. The actor said that he knew Kum personally, and after the premiere he thanked Borisov for the truthfulness conveyed in the film.
Career continuation
Actor Lev Borisov, whose biography was not so simple, continued his acting career in the mid-70s. He played supporting roles in the following films: “12 Chairs”, “Coming”, “A Particularly Important Assignment” and “A Visit to the Minotaur”. In 1987, the film “The Gardener” was released, in which both brothers played. Oleg played the role of Uncle Lesha Glazov, and Lev played the role of Nikolai Steklov.
In 1995, the talented actor took part in the filming of such films as “Shirley Myrli”, “Snake Spring” and “Barkhanov and His Bodyguard”. After some time, Lev starred in the popular television series “Gangster Petersburg. The collapse of the Antibiotic." This film brought Borisov enormous fame.
In an interview, the artist said that for the right image, he adopted a lot from Vladimir Kumarin. He was the main one in the criminal group. Lev also shared that Vladimir liked the character played by Borisov, and even thanked him for his excellent work.
It is worth noting that Lev Borisov has two lifetime awards. The first is Honored Artist of the Russian Federation and the second is People’s Artist of the Russian Federation.
Lev Borisov
The famous Antibiotic from Bandit Petersburg comes from the small Volga town of Ples. True, the Borisov family did not live there for long, as they moved often. Soon the war began, the father left to fight, and the mother and two sons were evacuated to Alma-Ata. But by the end of the war she returned to Yaroslavl, and in 1946 she settled in the capital. As children, the Borisov brothers' favorite pastimes were football and drama club. Lev did not study well, he was not good at exact sciences, but he enjoyed success in the theater club, like Oleg. It should be noted that the brothers’ love for acting was instilled in them by their father, who in his youth actively participated in amateur performances. Oleg was the first to decide to try to connect his life with the stage, and he succeeded. Lev was four years younger, and it was the example of his older brother that became decisive in choosing a profession, even though both his parents and Oleg himself, who by that time was already playing at the Kiev Lesya Ukrainka Theater, dissuaded him.
Be that as it may, Lev Borisov enters the Shchukin School and successfully graduates in 1956. Next, Lev begins working at the Moscow Film Actor's Theater. In general, during his career he changed many theaters, staying the longest at the Ermolova Theater. It is curious that Oleg, who lived his entire acting life in Kyiv and Leningrad, moving to Moscow only in 1983, was a much more famous actor, and Lev always remained in the shadow of this fame. They even starred together only once - in the little-known film The Gardener. And this despite the fact that Lev was a very popular actor, with about a hundred films to his credit. Such films with the participation of Lev Borisov as Height, Zakharov's Twelve Chairs, A Visit to the Minotaur, The Law, Shirley-Myrli are loved by many viewers. And the role of thief in law Antibiotic in the famous series by Vladimir Bortko brought real popularity. Interestingly, fame came to Lev Borisov at a more mature age, and this happened after Oleg’s death.
After the success of Gangster Petersburg, our hero began acting a lot and often, at the same time gaining the title of People's Artist. Father, Savva Mamontov, Seconds to..., Penal Battalion - these and other films and series will remain in the viewer’s memory, since our hero will never be able to please with new roles. He died from the consequences of a stroke on November 15, 2011. The last film with the participation of Lev Borisov, Dragon Syndrome, was released after his death.
Lev Borisov has brown eyes, naturally dark hair color, fair skin and thin lips. The face shape is oval, the forehead is high. Lev Borisov did not change his hair color, preferring natural. The actor has a medium wide nose and a rounded chin. Lev Borisov was growing his mustache and beard.

As he often talked about them with his mother: “We are two halves of the same cup.” Mom moved to Moscow, they got married.”

Actor Oleg Borisov: personal life of a star
Alla Romanovna is the woman with whom the actor lived in perfect harmony for more than 40 years. Back in 1954, actor Oleg Borisov found his happiness, and the personal life of the Soviet cinema star was settled once and for all. Alla Latynskaya is not one of the women who are ready to live their whole lives in the shadow of their famous spouses.
