Under the guidance of his father, already in his school years he could boast of hand-made silver jewelry.

In general, Oleg was a very enthusiastic child. While still a preschooler, he began attending the Theater of Youth Creativity, and at seven he became a soloist of the State Children's Choir of Leningrad Radio and Television. The young singer's performances were often shown on TV.

Since the fourth grade, Oleg Kharitonov became interested in yachtsport. Sailing trips in the Gulf of Finland and in a sports camp in Strelna are the most vivid impressions of childhood.

Two years later, Svetlana and Oleg became the parents of their second child - their daughter Varvara was born. It is noteworthy that the woman decided to give birth at home, so the actor witnessed the birth of the baby and her first cry.

“Family for me is the most important thing in life! I am ready to take any step just to maintain this happiness. My wife is a very wise and beautiful woman who is ready to support me at any time and in any situation. We have wonderful children who delight their parents literally every day. I am ready to do everything in my power so that my family does not need anything and is happy.”

From year to year, Oleg Kharitonov tries to spend a lot of time with his family in warm countries. Since the artist is busy filming mainly in the summer, autumn and spring periods of the year, the actor allows himself to take a vacation in the winter. If it happens that Oleg cannot take a vacation, then the family goes for a couple of days to the dacha, which is located in the Moscow region.

As you can see, everything is going well in the artist’s personal life. Oleg has practically no disagreements with his wife, so there have never been any major quarrels. If sometimes disagreements arise, the spouses, like adults and wise people, quickly solve the problem. Currently, Kharitonov’s wife is a housewife, so she devotes herself entirely to household chores and raising children. According to the actor himself, Svetlana is a wonderful wife and mother.

On the Internet, from time to time you can find photos in which the artist is captured during filming. There are also photos in which Oleg Kharitonov appeared before the public in the family circle.

Theater

During his student years, the young promising actor was noticed by the course director, Vladimir Ivanovich Podgorodinsky. When the teacher founded the only Rock Opera Theater in Russia, he invited Kharitonov to his troupe. The artist's debut performance was the legendary production of Romeo and Juliet, where he played the role of the main character. No less striking and memorable was his role as Count Rezanov in the production of “Juno and Avos”.

After college, the actor was invited to the St. Petersburg State Drama Theater “Communion,” which provided him with considerable experience. As part of the troupe he toured Germany, the Netherlands, and France. Actors of his generation had to endure the “perestroika timelessness,” when practically no films were made and theater halls were half empty. Oleg traveled around Europe for several years. He is grateful to that period of his life for the outstanding opportunity to touch the great European cultural heritage. Gothic churches, museums and art galleries in Cologne, Berlin, Hamburg, Kiel, Bremen, Amsterdam, Paris - charged him with powerful creative energy and significantly enriched the artist’s creative baggage.

In 2002, Kharitonov joined the troupe of the St. Petersburg State Drama Theater "Comedian's Shelter". The artistic director of the theater, Viktor Minkov, invited Oleg to take part in the production of the Russian-American play “Like Bees in Honey” based on the play by Douglas Carter Bean. This international project has become a significant event in the life of theatrical St. Petersburg. “Like Bees in Honey” is a vivid example of modern American drama, a story about the life of New York bohemians. The production director of the play, Neil Fleckman, entrusted Oleg with three roles. Soon after the premiere, theatergoers were already “going to see Kharitonov.” And Flekman himself, recalling his work with Oleg, admitted: “I was amazed by the young artist’s desire to look into the essence of the characters, to find the most accurate meaning of a dialogue or scene. This inspired new creative solutions."

In 2003, for the sake of a career in cinema, Oleg Kharitonov moved to Moscow, where he was accepted by the Moscow Academic Theater named after Mayakovsky.

At the age of 7, he first performed on stage as a soloist of the State Children's Choir, which was often shown on television.

However, young Kharitonov’s hobbies were not limited to music. From an early age, he learned the secrets of jewelry making that his father owned. Delicate work came easily to Oleg; already in his school years he could boast of handmade silver jewelry and now occasionally pleases his loved ones with some elegant thing. By the way, Rem Andreevich was a famous master; his works are kept in many famous galleries in Russia, including the Hermitage.

The future artist was also partial to sports. His favorite activity during the summer holidays was visiting a sports camp, where the young man happily went sailing. Since then, yachting has been the actor’s favorite pastime.

After graduating from school, Kharitonov submitted documents to the Leningrad State Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography. I entered on the third attempt, during the breaks I served in the army and worked at a factory. From the first days of visiting the university, teachers saw remarkable talent and great prospects in the student. Kharitonov’s vocal abilities seriously interested the cult performer of those years, Rubina Kalantaryan, who began professionally staging Oleg’s voice.

Movie

Kharitonov’s film debut was a small role in the TV series “Looking Down.”

In 2006, the Rossiya TV channel premiered the film “In the First Circle” by Valery Uskov and Gleb Panfilov, based on the works of A.S. Solzhenitsyn. Oleg was cast in this film for the role of Ruska. “Gleb Anatolievich shoots the old fashioned way, taking his time, doing many takes, allowing him to bring in his own creative ideas,” recalls the artist. And he considers the opportunity to interact on site with such eminent colleagues as Inna Churikova, Evgeny Mironov, Igor Sklyar, Dmitry Pevtsov, Olga Drozdova a great creative success.

His work in the popular TV series “Gromovs” directed by Alexander Baranov became a milestone for him. The actor does not share the opinion about the “lightness” of the series. “Serials are definitely no less an art than cinema. And I don’t have any taboos in my profession. I’m not afraid that I won’t be invited to a big movie, only for the reason that I’ve already appeared in TV series. How I once wasn’t afraid to act in commercials, although they tried to dissuade me, convincing me that I could become a person lost to TV series. I saw from my own experience that there are no rules here,” Oleg said in an interview.

In 2007, Kharitonov successfully passed the casting for the new detective series “The Web.” The artist got the main role of detective Fyodor Tumanov, the main character of the film. The directors were not afraid to trust the artist to independently think through the character’s character. The hero turned out to be honest, principled and quite charismatic, which completely captivated the audience. The ratings of the project were so high that the management of the NTV channel decided to extend it. In January 2020, the 8th season about the adventures of the brave opera Tumanov was released.

The actor’s filmography is not limited to “The Web” alone; among his works one can see such TV series as “Alien Nest”, “Apples of Paradise”, “Criminal Inheritance”, “Wanted”, “Love at Two Poles” and others.

Service at the Moscow Art Theater

After a bright film debut, Kharitonov focused on the theater. At first, his wild popularity only hindered him on the theater stage. More than once, when appearing with partners in a play in their own theater, or on tour, the audience literally disrupted the performance, vigorously welcoming Kharitonov and not paying attention to the rest of the troupe. Of course, no one in the theater group liked this.

In 1970, a new director came to the Moscow Art Theater from Sovremennik - Oleg Efremov . He brought with him several actors from Sovremennik. But Kharitonov began to lack roles in the theater. Here, of course, you cannot blame Oleg Nikolaevich. He came to a difficult period for the theater and tried to pull it out of the crisis using the methods he saw. True, not everything worked out, which ultimately led to a split in the theater.

And Kharitonov suffered a stroke from all these worries and unhealthy lifestyle. In 1987, Oleg Efremov and Tatyana Doronina , who looked so cute together in “Three Poplars on Plyushchikha,” entered into a confrontation, leading opposing teams.

Leonid Kharitonov took the division of the theater to heart and resisted it as best he could. As a result of these dramatic events, he suffered a second stroke, from which he could no longer recover. On the same day, June 20, 1987, the great actor died. It is symbolic that on the same day the actual division of the Moscow Art Theater took place.

The actor was buried at the Vagankovskoye cemetery . The ceremony was attended by representatives of 2 theaters, headed by Efremov and Doronina. After the funeral, a wreath with the inscription “From Mom” was found on the actor’s grave, although everyone knew that Kharitonov’s mother had been dead for a long time. It turned out that it was a wreath from “Ivan Brovkin’s mother” Tatyana Peltzer. Having no children of her own, our wonderful actress treated Kharitonov like a son all her life.

There was no money for the monument. But the Moscow Metrostroy provided unexpected support. True, for this purpose, Kharitonov was posthumously enrolled in the communist labor brigade of the metro construction. The monument looks symbolic: a stone split in two by the MKhAT seagull, which indicates the split of the theater.
