BIOGRAPHY
Maxim Radugin was born into a simple Moscow family, far from art. The actor’s father is an engineer, his mother is a designer, and his grandfather was a prosecutor. The boy grew up very shy, and no one expected that Maxim could become an actor: “At school, I was even embarrassed to go to the blackboard and lied that I wasn’t ready. Because of this, I received two grades. Shyness began to go away with experience when I started going on stage,” recalls Maxim.
After school, the young man entered MIREA - Moscow State Technical University of Radio Engineering, Electronics and Automation. But pretty soon Maxim realized that electronics and computing were not at all what he wanted to do all his life. However, the young man did not immediately decide to become an actor: “I thought of following in the footsteps of my grandmother, who was a gynecological surgeon. I went for exams at the Medical Academy, and they offered me to enter the 2nd year right away. I came to consult my grandmother, and she rightly told me that the profession of a doctor is a calling and hard work. I agreed with her, because my desire was spontaneous. So I stayed for another year at a technical university, and then I firmly decided to go to the acting department!”
Having successfully passed the exams, Maxim became a student at the acting department of the Theater School. B.V. Shchukin (course of E.V. Knyazev). Then he finally realized that he had found his calling: “I don’t have the feeling that I’m not doing my job. On the contrary, I get great pleasure from my work. It’s hard to imagine that I would have to do something else, work in the office all day,” admits the actor.
Childhood and youth
Maxim Radugin was born in Moscow into a family that had absolutely nothing to do with creativity. My grandfather worked as an investigator and prosecutor, my grandmother was a gynecological surgeon, my father was an engineer by profession, my mother was an architect and interior designer.

At first, Maxim did not think about the acting profession; he wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps and become an engineer. After graduating from school, the young man entered the Moscow State Institute of Radio Engineering, Electronics and Automation, but after graduating from high school, he realized that calculating numbers and doing electronics was not for him.
Then Maxim decided to follow in his grandmother’s footsteps and enter the Medical Academy, but she dissuaded her grandson, saying that being a doctor was his calling. As a result, Radugin firmly decided to become an actor and entered the B. Shchukin Theater Institute on the course of E. Knyazev. In 2004, he received the coveted diploma.
THEATER
Immediately after graduation, the actor was accepted into the troupe of the Theater on Malaya Bronnaya. Directors note Maxim's bright and memorable appearance, and in the theater he is assigned the role of a romantic hero. The actor plays the prince in Alexei Litvin's play "Flint", Maurice of Saxony in "Adrien Lecouvreur", Adolf in "Der Rosenkavalier", the prince in Lev Durov's production of "Cinderella".
As a guest artist, Maxim Radugin took part in the play “The Tsar's Hunt” directed by Vladimir Ivanov on the stage of the Theater. Vakhtangov. The artist played the role of Deribas, an outstanding statesman and prominent figure during the reign of Empress Catherine II. Ivanov, turning to the play by Leonid Zorin, presented to the audience an accurate and meticulously verified picture of the era of palace coups with its intrigues, passions, victories and deafening defeats. And in the center of this historical canvas is the great Empress Catherine II, performed by the brilliant Maria Aronova.

After this, the artist starred in the TV series “Dasha Vasilyeva. Lover of private investigation”, “Operation “Color of the Nation”, “Silver Lily of the Valley-2”, “Adjutants of Love”, “Kulagin and Partners”, and others.
Real popularity comes to Radugin after the role of circus artist Ivan Ryabinov in the series “Circus Princess”. Preparing for filming took a lot of time; rehearsals at the circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard lasted two months. The actor recalls: “In just three days I had to learn how to juggle clubs. On the very first day of shooting they filmed the cavalcade. We were juggling. And there is no way to mount a double - everything is visible. I had to juggle myself. I trained day and night, without a break for lunch. Happened".
In 2011, the series “Peter the Great” premiered on the Rossiya 1 TV channel. Testament" directed by Vladimir Bortko, based on the novel "Evenings with Peter the Great" by Daniil Granin. The artist admits that in his works he pays great attention to developing the image and its detailing. After all, the actor’s task is to ensure that the character he portrays turns out to be lively, vibrant and memorable for the audience. “I endow everyone I get to portray with some of my inherent traits. This is probably why I “connect” with each of them,” says Maxim.
Among the actor’s recent works is a role in the TV series “Sofia” directed by Alexei Andrianov. The film tells the story of the last heir to the Byzantine throne and the grandmother of Ivan the Terrible, Sophia Paleologue. The main roles in the film were played by Maria Andreeva, Evgeny Tsyganov, Nadezhda Markina, and other famous actors.

Maxim Radugin met his wife at a disco, and a lot of time passed after that. She was a beautiful, long-legged girl, whom he did not dare to meet for a long time, since he was modest by nature.
Radugin made Nelly fall in love with him at first sight and she, without hesitation, left her phone number. The biography soon diversified and a personal life appeared on the career path. At first, the relationship was quite romantic, the actor looked after his future wife and was constantly in touch with her. Maxim Radugin and his wife legalized their relationship after five years of dating.
IN LIFE
Maxim simply loves tennis. He admits that if he had not become an actor, he could easily have been a tennis player: “Tennis arose thanks to my first role in the Russian-Polish film “Break Point.” At the time of the casting, I didn’t even hold a racket in my hands, although I was supposed to play a rising star in this sport. Before filming, I trained on the court for four hours a day, and in the evenings I worked hard on serving against the wall. I still play tennis, last year I won the amateur singles tournament.”
Previously, the actor devoted a lot of time to extreme sports: skydiving, riding a bike, and diving. But with the advent of children, a lot has changed. “Now my main vacation is children. I get great pleasure when I teach them the alphabet and numbers,” says Maxim.
PERSONAL LIFE
For many years Maxim Radugin has been happily married to his wife Nelly. The couple met at a disco at the Lenin Pedagogical Institute, where the girl studied. The actor recalls: “That evening completely changed my life. We turned out to have many common interests. For example, our favorite writer is Mikhail Bulgakov. We dated for about six years before we got married. I just really wanted to graduate from drama school, get on my feet and get a job. After that, I proposed to my beloved.” The young people got married in 2005.
In 2007, twins were born into the family - a girl, Anya, and a boy, Sasha. Two years later, the happy parents had another daughter, Amelia.
Maxim Radugin: I tried to behave cheekily with girls
To overcome shyness, in his youth the actor pretended to be a hero-lover
34-year-old actor Maxim RADUGIN has played in more than 30 films. The handsome brunette can’t help but notice in the continuation of the STS series “The Diary of Doctor Zaitseva,” where he plays traumatologist Denis Davydov. By the way, Maxim did not immediately decide to become an artist.
— I heard that before becoming an actor, you tried yourself in other roles. This is true?
- That's right. After school, I entered the Moscow Institute of Radio Engineering, Electronics and Automation, but in my second year I realized that I couldn’t spend my whole life doing electronics, calculating numbers from morning to evening, and decided to follow in the footsteps of my grandmother, who was a gynecological surgeon, by going to medical school . At the Medical Academy I was offered to enroll straight into the second year. But I changed my mind and submitted the documents to the theater university. Although if you dreamed, I could probably make a good pediatrician - I really love children!

— You and your wife recently had a third child - daughter Amelia. How old are the older children? — The twins, son Sasha and daughter Anya, are almost five.
By the way, I am involved in raising children along with my wife. I put the older ones to bed, take them to tennis, and teach them to swim. And I treat my wife carefully. Nelya and I always beautifully celebrate our wedding anniversaries and congratulate each other on the day we met. - And where did you meet?
- At the disco. And together for 14 years!
— You said that you grew up very shy. How then did you decide to become an actor?
— Yes, at school I was even embarrassed to go to the blackboard and lied that I wasn’t ready, which is why I received bad marks. Shyness began to go away with experience, already as an actor, when I started going on stage. Also, on the advice of friends, I used different methods: for example, I entered a subway car during rush hour with a receiver from which music was playing at full blast. I immediately found myself in the center of attention, this helped me knock things out. And with girls I tried to behave deliberately cheekily, pretending to be a hero-lover and a merry fellow, which did not correspond to my inner nature.
On the set of the series, the actors did not leave each other even during lunch (in the photo: Pavel TRUBINER, Ilya LYUBIMOV, Maxim RADUGIN, Yana KRAINOVA, Alika SMEKHOVA and Alexander FEKLISTOV). Photo: Vk.com |
— Why did you get carried away with free diving—diving while holding your breath? “I think my father influenced me a lot in this regard.” He is a Marine and an excellent swimmer. As a child, he often went with me to the Luzhniki swimming pool. Free diving is, of course, dangerous, but very exciting. My personal record is five minutes of holding your breath in a static state, when you take a breath, lower your head into the water, and then dangle there like a sausage. The most important thing is to try to turn off your brain, because it consumes up to 75 percent of oxygen.
INTERVIEW
About Me
“I am the head of a large family. I don’t forget about the housework, I try to help my wife. I can hammer a nail, assemble children’s furniture according to instructions, buy groceries according to the list, wash a baby, fix wiring! The latter, however, with the help of a familiar electrician!”
About women
“Women’s strength is in their weakness. Just as weak-willed men irritate them, we are also irritated by overly strong women. It’s much easier for a woman to get her way through gentleness rather than force.”
The secret of family happiness
“You need to bring newness to the relationship. Externally, this could be a new hairstyle, wardrobe, change of interior, joint travel and new hobbies. In addition, to remain mutually interesting, both need to develop at approximately the same pace. Discover new talents and abilities in yourself, surprise each other so that your husband looks at you with new eyes, remain an unread book. Praise, encourage, inspire each other. And, of course, don’t forget about romance.”
