Anton Lavrentiev was born on December 10, 1983 in Moscow. Father is a member of the Olympic gymnastics team, an international master of sports.
From early childhood, the boy showed musical talents and artistry. From the age of 6 he attended music school and performed on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater as a member of the children's choir. Anton learned to play the guitar early and dreamed of his own band. However, when the time came to choose a future career, Lavrentiev decided to get a prestigious position as a journalist and applied to Moscow International University.

Having received his higher education in 2006, Anton did not work in his specialty, but got a job in a capital club. Employees of his company were engaged in providing security services for entertainment events.
Soon Lavrentyev switched to a new type of activity - dance production, and then began directly organizing concerts. Communication with representatives of show business inspired him to create his own musical group.

Anton Lavrentyev is known to many Russian audiences. He hosted “Heads and Tails” on Friday, reached the semifinals of the country’s main vocal show “The Voice,” collected more than one solo concert, acted in films, and now has taken up poetry seriously. His videos with poems on Instagram have always been popular, so Anton decided to expand the boundaries of his activities and release a book.
– Anton, how long have you been interested in poetry? Which authors do you prefer to read yourself and who are you inspired by?
I started writing poetry in my student years, at about 18. At that time, in principle, I tried a lot of things and tried them on myself. He staged concerts at the university and performed songs. So I liked putting together rhymes. At first I didn’t take it seriously, but over time more and more poems were born. I have always loved poetry, both modern and classical. Brodsky, Akhmatova. Vera Polozkova, of course. This year I went to her performance and was very impressed!
– At what point did you realize that it was time to immortalize your poetry in a collection?
Then I flew in “Reshka” and in all this television chaos with constant travel, lack of sleep and haste, I especially wanted something subtle and sincere. At the same time, I wrote my music album “My Travels” and at the same time thought that all those poems that do not become songs also need to be adapted somewhere. Later, when Instagram allowed me to publish minute-long videos, I started posting my poems, and they broke all records for views and likes in my feed. This was another sign to me that people were into it. This means that poems need to be multiplied. And finally, the first such circulation will be released this fall. It will be called “Oblique Rhyme” - this is my hashtag under poems on Instagram.
– Who is your audience? Who will be interested and important to read your book?
My book is a collection of philosophical and romantic lyrics about a modern resident of a metropolis. Everyone will find something of their own in it, because everyone has the same problems and experiences: falling in love, unhappy love, loneliness, finding your place in life, simple joys, happiness and sadness. I won’t hide that my audience is mainly women and girls. But the guys will also have something to delve into and something to try on themselves.
– Why poetry and not prose? Maybe you’ll get to fiction soon?
Maybe I'll get there. But fiction seems to me more fundamental. A sort of “War and Peace” in several volumes. That is, you need to sit down and come up with a plot first, then characters, then weave this frame with details, facts and texture. I’m not ready for this yet, I don’t have time, and I need to gain more experience.
– At your concerts you perform songs. Why don't you read poetry? Nowadays the format of readings is very popular.
I had a small concert at “The Sea Inside” a couple of years ago, and now in support of the release of the collection there will be a big creative evening at Alexey Kozlov’s club. It will be September 16th. A large percentage of my audience has asked me from time to time when I will do something like this, so now is the time. Come, I’m waiting for everyone at my lamp poetry evening.
– Do you go to similar events with colleagues in the genre?
I have great respect for my colleagues. I have already mentioned Vera Polozkova. For example, I love Sasha Tsypkin and his “Unprincipled Readings.” I know that the publication “Russian Pioneer” from time to time organizes such evenings, where very famous and respected people read their stories on a given topic. I know Vasya Ackerman, he takes part in many places with his prose. So far this world is very small, everyone supports each other.
- Let's move away from literature. Tell us about your news outside of the book.
My new video for the song “Ocean” has just been released - it is already in rotation on TV channels and is on the Internet, several films with my participation are being filmed at once. For example, a film based on Zamyatin’s work “We”. For his sake, I had to say goodbye to my hair and get a short crew cut instead of my usual hairstyle. And before that, I had to shave my stubble, but for another film. I haven’t done this for 10 years and, I must say, I ended up 10 years younger. I write songs, come up with more and more new sounds. Now I have a very interesting life.

Anton founded two groups at once: the Gipsy Band, specializing in performing covers of popular songs, where Vera Novak became the vocalist, and L'acoustique, playing in the lounge style, in which Lavrentiev plays the guitar and sings. This is the story of a man who was determined to follow his true destiny and challenge himself. In an exclusive interview with GOODIES, Anton openly spoke about the reasons for leaving “Heads and Tails”, about self-criticism and vanity, about romance and pragmatism, about participation in “The Voice”, about working as a face control in a Moscow club and much more.

You were a very successful and popular host of the “Heads and Tails” program. But at some point, by his own willful decision, he refused to participate in the filming in order to take up music. Were you afraid to leave?
When I made this decision, I was absolutely sure that I was doing the right thing. I was so tired from endless flights, I wanted to make music and follow my destiny so much that no doubts arose. Three months later, I found myself in Moscow and realized that in fact I needed to start everything over again, because in the musical environment I was a completely new character. But there was no fear. There was just a realization of how much there was to be done. And it was worth it! It is most important!
Did you feel empty after the endless business trips ended?
Of course, there was some acclimatization, and it took quite a long time - about a year. A colossal amount of energy was spent on these trips. Time was speeding up, it was necessary to act faster, there was no time to take a break for a break. Then I left with difficulty, learning to draw energy from other sources: from myself, from people, from my new occupation. Moreover, there are no fewer cases - there are much more of them! I added radio, cinema, music, and now work on television... Yes, there was devastation, but I coped with everything.
Are you traveling now?
Certainly! And with great pleasure, because now I’m doing it for myself (Smiles). Right now I’m just thinking about where to go for the New Year holidays. I want to go to the ocean.

Have you watched the episodes of “Heads and Tails” with your participation? How much did you like the guy you saw on screen?
The guy I saw on the screen... This is a hero who was created specifically for the project “Heads and Tails. Shopping." He was supposed to be reckless and fun. Of course, there is a part of this guy in me, otherwise nothing would have worked out. That is, this is not a thoroughly fictional character by any means. But am I like this in real life? In part, probably 15 percent, this is true. Did I like that guy? Yes, he was funny. How else? There was definitely no resistance work.
Do you often engage in self-criticism?
I am self-critical, but this is not extreme. Rather, it is a common sense view of what I do. Musical creativity, work in the media or filming is a constant introspection. I look carefully at what I did wrong at a certain moment, what needs to be improved, what to strive for next... While recording songs, the text and music are constantly being reworked. Every day I look at things a little differently. I listen to what I did yesterday, and there is a desire to add something, remove something, improve something. Therefore, here self-criticism is a very good tool that I use with pleasure!
Whose outside criticism is important to you? Whose opinion is authoritative?
My close people, as well as those whom I consider professionals in their field, my team, my musician friends, artists. I can’t say that I am dependent on criticism; having created something, I don’t immediately bring it to people’s judgment. No. First, I must pass my own qualifications, my personal “arts council,” let’s call it that. And then I show it to someone close to me so that they can evaluate it and give their comments. After all, sometimes when you “interact” with a piece of music or poetry for a very long time, your eyes become blurred, and you no longer understand what is good and what is bad. Then you need to step back, let both yourself and the work cool down, and then return to it again.

How critical are you of the appearance of the girl next to you? Do you make comments like “it would be nice for you to lose a couple of pounds” or “pump up your butt a little”?
I respect people in general! And even more so I respect the girl with whom I connect my destiny for a certain or indefinite time. Therefore, acting tactlessly and making some comments to her is not my story. If I let someone into my life, then I accept them as they are. You can't change a person. A person can only change himself.
What is the first thing you pay attention to when meeting girls?
A girl should be well-mannered and well-groomed. She must take care of herself. I mean take care of yourself in everything: both in thoughts and in appearance. Behavior, conversation, vocabulary... Someone told me recently that what really attracts us is the vocabulary of another person, his manner of communication, and not just his appearance. These are the things I am happy to pay attention to. Of course, there is some kind of inner feeling - is there some kind of “hook” to this person or not? If so, I would be happy to continue the conversation!
Do you yourself use any personal techniques to win the sympathy of your interlocutor?
I don't use any tricks at all. I believe that everything should happen absolutely freely and as naturally as possible. And to work hard to get... I'm not that kind of person!

Do you consider yourself a romantic? Serenade the girls under the balcony?
Yes, I'm a romantic, but in a good sense of the word. After all, in the modern world you need to be extremely focused, efficient, and purposeful. You can't turn off your brain. At the same time, I believe in love. I don’t sing serenades under the balcony now. But I enjoy doing it at concerts.
Do you think everyday life can destroy relationships?
Only those relationships that are based on insincere feelings. It's more like just a hobby. If there is something truly real and mutual between people, if in a couple both are ready to work on themselves and develop, then everyday life is only a test for the relationship. And it will certainly strengthen. This is a kind of test.
You were inspired to write the album “My Travels” by the emotions you received in different cities and countries. What else inspires you to write songs?
Love. This is such a rare gift... I was lucky. I felt this feeling... I am also inspired by people and emotions. Nothing changed. And, of course, a tremendous amount of work on myself and on what I do. This also turned out to be a kind of inspiration.

Are you vain? Is it important to be recognized on the street and asked for autographs?
Of course, there is a certain amount of vanity, because otherwise, why would I do this? It's worth clarifying here. Recognition is not a goal, but a tool. A tool to convey my creativity to people. With my music, words, poetry, communication from the stage, communication from the television screen, I help listeners understand themselves, I can cheer them up, make them feel better and more fun. And for some people, taking a photo with me and taking an autograph is a kind of tribute to my work. I also get pleasure from the fact that they feel good. This means that my message was heard and found a response.
Does increased female attention flatter you or, for the most part, tire you?
You know, I'm lucky. I have very well-mannered fans. If there is increased attention, then everything happens very delicately, correctly and without any excesses. Nothing tires me - everything is exactly the same as it was when I did not work at Orel and Tails, was neither a musician, nor a participant in the Voice project.
What has changed in your life after participating in the show “The Voice”?
Everything has changed! My approach to work, and then, as it turned out, my performance. I devote myself to the project 24 hours a day, seven days a week. And if I don’t physically do this in the studio, then mentally I’m constantly racing thoughts in my head about how I’m going to do this or that. The level at which the mentors, the employees of “Red Square”, the team of the sixth season of “The Voice” work is, of course, incredibly high. This is a super school, this is a super test, this is a super experience that I get every single day!

Thousands of talented kids all over the country dream of being on “The Voice”, dream that at least one mentor will turn to them. What would you recommend? How to introduce yourself? How to attract attention in such talent shows, where there is fierce competition?
It all depends on the person. If he is ready inside, then he needs to go and try himself! How to attract attention? The general producer of the show “Heads and Tails” once gave me advice. Shopping" Elena Aleksandrovna Sinelnikova. I convey my warm regards to her through your publication! She said: “Be yourself! If you want this to happen, please be yourself!” For the simple reason that when you try to become someone else, to attract attention to yourself in some other way, you become unnatural, plastic. And in our business, the most important thing is individuality. This is probably the same advice I will give to the guys who are going to storm this Olympus next.
By the way, I read that you were once on face control at the Moscow club “Gypsy”. I’ve always wondered what qualities such a profession strengthens in you?
Stress resistance, polite communication with people, and most importantly, the opportunity to feel in their shoes and try to explain to a person who does not enter the establishment why, out of the whole huge crowd, he was the one who was unlucky, how he differs from everyone else? This is, as it turns out, a very reverent art! But for me it was disastrous many years ago. Almost five. And trying to pull something out of memory now is very difficult, because so much has happened in these five years!
Then your program is for at least the next five years.
Once I got into the “Voice” project, I don’t know what will happen next, I don’t think about it. Maximum of my strength and attention is concentrated on making a good performance and performing well. I would like to have a family in five years, so that I can find a woman with whom I will connect my life. I would like to give concerts, play in films, make people happy and continue. I don’t want to guess how this will happen. Because the most interesting thing is living here and now. And invest 100 percent in this “here and now”. It seems to me that this will be as fair as possible.
