Short film career of Mikhail Filipchuk: What happened to the young star of the film “The Thief” (17 photos)

From the history of Mikhail's acting career

During his school years, Mikhail Yuryevich Filipchuk studied very well, was interested in computer science, physical education and the English language. He graduated from school with a gold medal, and it is worth considering that he studied in a gymnasium class, which means the workload was greater. In his free time, Mikhail Filipchuk devoted himself to computer science and sports, as well as various acrobatic exercises. Mikhail also speaks good English to this day.

In the family, Mikhail got along better with his older brother than with his father or mother. He justified this by saying that he has the warmest and closest relationship with his brother. His parents had their own company, his mother held the position of manager, and his father, as the head of the family, of course, was the director. Oddly enough, Mikhail in his youth, when he was just starting to act, did not consider the profession of an actor to be significant or significant. His plans were to connect his future with the world of IT technologies, as he was very fond of computer games.

The whole country admired this boy: who did the star of the film “The Thief” Mikhail Filipchuk grow up in?

Mikhail Filipchuk became a star at the age of seven. charming kid playing one of the main roles in the film “The Thief”. It would seem that he could and should choose an acting career, but his life turned out differently.

This year Mikhail will turn 30 years old, he left Russia and did not connect his life with acting. So how does the little star of “The Thief” live today?

Since childhood, Mikhail Filipchuk was destined for a successful film career, but with age he developed other interests. Despite everything, Filipchuk will forever be remembered by the audience as a little boy with big, trusting eyes.

At the age of seven, he played in the film “The Thief” along with Vladimir Mashkov and Ekaterina Rednikova. For the sake of this film, Mikhail had to skip almost the entire first grade, but this, as it turned out later, was worth such sacrifices.

Mashkov was so impressed by the acting talent of his “film” stepson that he invited him to the film project “The Orphan of Kazan”. After another triumph on the screens, Filipchuk appeared on television a couple of times, but then suddenly disappeared.

In a week, Mikhail will turn 30 years old; he never became a famous actor, which he does not intend to regret. Filipchuk left his homeland and now lives in America. Mikhail graduated from high school in Krasnoznamensk near Moscow with a gold medal, then entered a higher educational institution. After receiving his diploma, he became a business consultant. About two years ago he flew to San Francisco to work as a programmer.

Filipchuk makes excellent money, however, he spends all the money on himself - the former actor does not yet have a family. There were many girls in Mikhail’s life, however, according to him, he has not yet met the one with whom he would like to share the rest of his life.

Filipchuk loves to travel with friends. He devotes almost all his free time to this pleasant and useful activity. Sometimes Mikhail visits his homeland, but is reluctant to communicate with representatives of the press about his past in cinema; he is more interested in talking about professional topics - computers, for example. Of course, Mikhail has changed a lot, but his eyes remained the same - still just as beautiful and trusting.

Many still easily recognize Sanka from “The Thief” in him. By the way, for this role Filipchuk received a “Children’s Oscar” in 1998, so at one time he was deservedly called an “Oscar-winning” child.

Who is he now?

Today, Mikhail Filipchuk is no longer the same little Misha with dreams of working as a programmer. He now represents a grown man who is still achieving his goals. Filipchuk Mikhail Yurievich graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. He chose physics because he loves the world around him, he is interested in what happens outside the concrete walls. By the way, Mikhail Filipchuk does not regret at all that he gave up acting in films and became a business consultant in a large company. In one of his interviews, he said that he can easily get carried away by anything, so he has a wide range of musical tastes, the same goes for cinematography. In general, it is not difficult to understand that Mikhail is a versatile person with many interests.

Filmography of Mikhail

The most famous films that brought Mikhail popularity in his childhood are “The Thief” and “The Orphan of Kazan”. He began his acting career in a film by Pavel Chukhrai called “The Thief.” The plot of this film is quite complex, but interesting. According to the plot of the film, Sasha’s mother falls in love with a certain military man, begins to live with him under the same roof, everything is wonderful and wonderful, but at one point the secret of the military man comes to light - he is an “experienced” thief. Initially, Mikhail was considered as a candidate for the role in Yeralash, but when Pavel Chukhrai noticed his photo, he literally snatched it from Yeralash’s hands for the film Thief.

Filming at that time was difficult for Mikhail. He himself mentioned this more than once in an interview, saying that it is not at all easy and even somewhat difficult. He knew little about acting, because he was only seven years old. But time passed, Mikhail grew up and gained experience in this matter. He already knew the basics of acting, and from now on it was not so difficult for him to act in films.

Soon Misha received an offer to star in Vladimir Mashkov’s film “The Orphan of Kazan”. The plot of this film is that teacher Anastasia, due to the death of her mother, decided to send an old and forgotten letter to a certain Pavel, the father of a little orphan. The whole point is that three Pauls responded to this letter at once, and the orphan had to figure out which of them was the real father. Of course, now it was easier for Mikhail to act, because he already had some experience, but the acting profession never became his calling. After this film, Mikhail Filipchuk ended his acting career and devoted himself to the world of computer technology.

And besides, filming films took a lot of time and effort. The actor himself admitted in an old interview that the acting profession is not a priority for him. In his opinion, it was very difficult to first film the scene where his mother dies, and then adjust to the real world. For Michael it was woozy and hazy.

Misha was seven years old when the assistant director chose him among other first-graders to film in "Jumble."
True, it was never approved for Yeralash, but the photos got to Pavel Chukhrai. He was just looking for a performer to play the main role of the boy Sanka in his new film “The Thief”. The director immediately liked the blue-eyed boy with a touching bang, and Misha was approved. The film told the dramatic story of one family in the post-war years. In addition to Misha Filipchuk, the main roles were played by Vladimir Mashkov and Ekaterina Rednikova. And yet, it was not the excellent performances of the famous actors, but rather the childish spontaneity, coupled with the undoubted acting talent of Misha Filipchuk, that contributed to the enormous success of the film. The film collected many different awards. It was even nominated for an Oscar in the Best Foreign Film category. Misha was not spared either. True, he did not receive a prize at the 54th International Venice Festival due to age requirements. But he was awarded at the festival in Tallinn in 1998 and at the Constellation-97 festival. “I don’t want to be an actor”
After such a noisy debut, Misha Filipchuk was talked about as the most promising young actor.
But Misha himself had a completely different opinion about his future fate. The young actor did not like working in films. Firstly, it took a lot of time, which had a drastic impact on his studies, and Misha loves to study. Secondly, such a side of acting life as fame turned out to be very unpleasant for him. “There was such a stupid attitude towards me... it seemed to me that everyone wanted to be friends with me just because I was a star...,” he recalls. And yet, after “The Thief,” he starred in several more films. In the comedy “The Orphan of Kazan” he played a small role as a student. He played so brilliantly that the audience remembered him no less (if not more!) than the main characters of the film. This was followed by an episode in the film “Crusader 2” and a small role of young Yuri Luzhkov in the short film “We are your children, Moscow,” the filming of which began in 1997, and the film was released only in 2004. Over time, Misha Filipchuk became convinced that the acting profession was not for him. “Playing a role in a movie is nothing more than lying,” he says. - To play well, you just need to be able to lie... This prospect did not make me happy. Lying all my life...” He was very seriously interested in physics and after graduating from school he entered the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. This is what he looks like now:

, Misha is asked all sorts of questions:
Mikhail, have you stopped acting in films? Yes, like 3 lives have passed since then) And why, if it’s not a secret?:) I was rewatching the movie “The Thief” and decided to find you on VKontakte. Found Why did you decide not to develop an acting career?:) How did you get into cinema as a child? Why do some people like bananas more, while others like oranges? I got there by some kind of accident: the acting assistant was looking in schools for the right kind of guys in terms of type. I was one of those who came up. Then, with my desire and permission from my parents, I went to auditions. Somehow... favorite place in the city? Home. Sweet home. Misha, you are brilliant)) ... nothing to add. Mikhail, if I invited you to star in an amateur short film...would you agree? If I like the idea and have time, then it’s quite possible. But in general, since I don’t have a hobby related to acting, I’m wooden, like most actors in Russian sitcoms. In short, I wouldn’t invite myself)) Sorry for such a frank question - I’ll understand if you don’t answer! And there were no disagreements with your parents, who would probably like to see you in the future as an actor after the success of “The Thief.” Or vice versa? I really like it. lucky with my parents. They never had the desire to assert themselves at the expense of their children. I see everyone is pestering you... that they say he was filming and filming!!! But what do you think of the film “The Thief” ... that is, from the point of view not of the person who starred in it, but as an ordinary viewer? I probably watched it in its entirety 5 times. Good story, good picture, I trust the actors, but not those films that I would specifically watch 5 times (a little out of my range of problems). I have a question, Mish, what is your attitude towards girls? did you have a lot of them? :) I hope the question about girls hasn’t taken off yet, otherwise they are like that, yes... I mean questions. But I love girls, I’ll gather them together, along the surf line... Can there be too much of a good thing? But there were no others. And the look is the same as in childhood ^-^ And why does the soul change?)) Please tell me, what are you ready for for the sake of your beloved?? Learn to love!

From memories

Mikhail himself admits that he liked the Oscar ceremony the most. According to him, he was drawn into this solemn and unforgettable atmosphere. Mikhail talked with trepidation about how they cut his hair and dressed him up for the ceremony, how everything happened there, and what people are like in America. Due to the fact that he once acted in several films, he got the opportunity to visit many countries and he took advantage of this opportunity. Mikhail had the opportunity to visit Greece, America, Italy and, of course, the USA.

What was the fate of the boy from the film “The Thief”

Director Pavel Chukhrai released the film “The Thief” more than 20 years ago. He chose an excellent cast.

Chukhrai chose 34-year-old Vladimir Mashkov as the main character, and the female role was played by 24-year-old young actress Ekaterina Rednikova.

The role of the little boy went to Mikhail Filipchuk, thanks to the fact that Pavel Chukhrai accidentally found him in an ordinary school near Moscow - in Krasnoznamensk.

Mikhail Filipchuk was born in 1988 in the capital of the Tajik SSR - the city of Dushanbe. In the early 90s, his family moved to the Moscow region.

Mikhail played in the film “The Thief” the role of an 8-year-old boy named Sanya, whose mother (Rednikova) meets a not entirely decent man named Tolyan (Mashkov).

According to the plot, Sanya communicates with Tolyan, although she fears him with all her heart, and later loves him in her own way (probably), connecting her childhood years with her mother’s boyfriend, who could not replace his father.

What does the boy Sanya look like now? Or rather, actor Mikhail Filipchuk.

After graduating from school, Mikhail entered the Moscow Institute of Physics and Mathematics at the Faculty of General and Applied Physics and Quantum Radiophysics.

The 31-year-old man has not acted in films since 2004. His filmography is very small: “The Thief” (1997), “The Orphan of Kazan” (1997), the short film “We, Your Children, Moscow” (1997), as well as two not very popular films - “Stranger Weapon, or Crusader-2” (1998) and the drama “Evening Bells” (2004).
