If things don't go very smoothly, Hawkmoth easily loses his temper. He threatens Ladybug, Cat Noir, and even the villains he creates. After the villain's defeat, Hawkmoth vows revenge. He remains inactive for a short time, but when he gets another chance, he sends out an akuma.

However, most likely he became bitter after the loss of his wife, since we often see that Gabriel actually knows how to sympathize and worry about his loved ones.
