– Both Anatoly and Sonechka are very musical children, so I am sure that with my departure the name Rotaru will not disappear from the stage... Anatoly is seriously involved in vocals and enjoys trying himself as a DJ. It’s nice that Dj Blaq’s debut took place on my anniversary at the Livadia Palace and left a very vivid impression. According to the new Ukrainian youth magazine KREM, Dj Blaq (our Tolya) is the youngest DJ in Ukraine, that is, he is already perceived as a professional, and he is only 13 years old! Sonya is growing up as a graceful, artistic girl. I think she will get everything she really wants!

– If we are not mistaken, not so long ago your son Ruslan got into an accident on a motorcycle. After that, did you forbid your son to ride motorcycles?

“I don’t think any mother would enjoy describing the problems and incidents of her children.” I can say that motorcycles are Ruslan’s passion. Is it possible to forbid anything to an adult son? Especially if it is an integral part of his life. The only thing I can do is pray for him! I also had an accident not long ago, and it was very unpleasant, I was worried not so much for myself, but for the people who were injured. But still, I’m used to showing restraint in stressful situations; I can’t say that I was as hysterical as was described in the press.

– Your sister Zinaida once mentioned that you insist on an expensive operation to restore her vision. Any progress?

– Yes, it really hurts me to think about Zina’s fate. And for many years we made every effort to restore her sight. But recently the doctors took away our last hope, they said that this was impossible and that even the most expensive operations would not help. Zina lives with her husband in Chisinau, and we don’t see each other as often as we would like. Several times a year, often in my native village. Last summer she vacationed with us in Yalta. Of course, we all help Zina and support her.

– Would you like to sing a duet with your grandchildren?

– I would like to, and I think that this is quite possible! – After your anniversary, the entire press only discussed your reconciliation with Pugacheva. And now you continue to communicate with her? Are you calling each other? Are there any ideas for joint creativity?

– Perhaps someone will be disappointed when I answer that there was no reconciliation, since there was no hostility. For many years the press supported this myth, while we hardly knew each other, each followed his own path and did not think about any “competition”. Why did everyone decide that we were rivals? What is our common audience? This is absolutely not true! We can say that in art we follow parallel paths - each of us has our own listeners, our own authors, our own repertoire. Yes, we continue to communicate, sometimes we call each other. And as for joint creativity, why not? We still have a lot ahead of us.

– If, God forbid, you ever decide to give up creativity, what would you like to do? A garden, a business or...

– None of everything you listed. I celebrated my 60th birthday, but this is not the end of my creative journey. There will be no “farewell” concert for Rotaru... I will sing until my last breath!
