To these words, however, it is worth adding that you should always set yourself difficult tasks and approach their solution with interest and great passion. The new acting governor of the Lipetsk region has always loved difficult tasks, ever since school, where he was seriously interested in chess. The more difficult the goal, the greater the joy and satisfaction its achievement brings. Igor Artamonov perceived his new role as head of the region as another challenge.
Family and income
Figure 1. Together with Gref
Igor Georgievich was born in the Stavropol region in the small town of Budenovsk. It is known that his father died early, the boy was raised by his mother and older sister (they are no longer alive). Every year Igor Georgievich comes to the graves of his relatives.
The current head of the Lipetsk region has a wife and child. The energetic manager can play the saxophone and loves skiing, mathematics and chess. They speak of him as a person who weighs everything and never makes decisions rashly.
Artamonov’s income declaration was published on the website of the administration of the Lipetsk region. According to it, the head of the region earned 131.1 million rubles in 2020. Of the property at his disposal:

Childhood and youth
Igor Georgievich Artamonov was born on March 14, 1967 in the small town of Budyonnovsk in the Stavropol Territory. Artamonov's father died when Igor was still a child. The future financier was raised by his mother and older sister, who are no longer alive.
Igor Artamonov in his youth
According to his friends, Igor was very reasonable since childhood and never did anything rashly. He studied well at school and was good at exact sciences. In one of his interviews, Artamonov said that he remembers all his teachers and is especially grateful to those who taught geography, history and mathematics.
At school, Igor Georgievich was fond of chess and even participated in chess tournaments. At the same time, Artamonov was actively involved in sports, playing football, basketball and volleyball.
After graduating from school, the young man moved to the capital and entered the Moscow Institute of National Economy named after G.V. Plekhanov (today REA named after G.V. Plekhanov), one of the most prestigious universities in Russia.
Career at Sberbank
Igor Artamonov received his education at one of the most prestigious higher educational institutions in the capital - the Institute of National Economy named after. Plekhanov, where he entered after brilliant completion of school. (Billionaire Oleg Deripaska and economist, former Minister of Finance Mikhail Zadornov graduated from the same educational institution).
Studying, especially in the exact sciences, came easily to him. The decision, after five years in the capital, to return to his hometown in the Stavropol Territory might seem strange.
But that’s exactly what he did: he came to Budennovsk and got a job at Sberbank. Apparently, Igor Georgievich was accustomed to reasoning according to the principle “where he was born, he was useful there.” And he really did a lot for his town.
In a year and a half, Artamonov rose to the position of head of the lending department of the central branch of Sberbank in Budyonnovsk. The courses at the Higher School of Economics and the MBA-Finance program, taken while still in Moscow, helped. The leader’s character and habit of getting his way also played an important role. Further, these same qualities of Mr. Artamonov paved a direct career path for him, along which he moved extremely quickly and even assertively. In 1996 – manager of a Sberbank branch. Another 3.5 years later, he is already a member of the board, being the director for organizing work with clients, first of the Stavropol and then of the North Caucasus branches of Sberbank.
Since 2001, Igor Georgievich was already famous in the circles of employees of the largest financial organization in Russia. He was invited to organize the work and manage the Far Eastern branch, then the Northwestern one. Since 2013, Artamonov has become vice president of Sberbank, essentially German Gref’s deputy. For his successes as deputy chairman of the board, he was even awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland.
Additionally: As chairman of Srednerussky Bank, Igor Artamonov led this division to leadership in the internal rating of Sberbank in just a year and a half. While before his leadership, Srednerussky was considered the least successful territorial bank.

Leadership activities
Figure 2. Artamonov congratulates colleagues
Such impressive and rapid results certainly suggest an inhuman careerist, ready to go over his head for the sake of his goals. But, judging by the reviews of colleagues and subordinates in various parts of the country, Igor Artamonov, on the contrary, is an example of a humane and fair leader. Loyal only to those of his subordinates who are ready to change, grow and improve, and devote themselves to their work, just like the leader himself.
Well, Artamonov can be harsh with those who like to sit through their working hours without being involved in the process - he does not tolerate such workers and tries not to keep them on his team. In general, Igor Georgievich is used to selecting people for his own working groups to match himself: energetic, purposeful, accustomed to achieving their goals.
As the acting governor of the Lipetsk region himself noted in one of his interviews: “My history consists only of victories. There were no defeats, and I don’t want the Lipetsk region to become a defeat. Therefore, I will work very actively with personnel, with the preparation of the reserve, with everyone who is ready to grow.”
Former colleagues speak so enthusiastically about Igor Artamonov also for his talents and artistry, as well as ingenuity, which are quite rare among people in power and holding high positions. A video of Artamonov’s congratulations on February 23 for his colleagues has spread around the Runet more than once.
In the video, the former chairman of the bank demonstrates real masculine qualities in various recognizable roles, all this not without a dose of humor. In general, he always approaches congratulations to his subordinates creatively, rightly believing that the “hour of fun” should be so energetic that later the “time for business” will also be used productively and usefully. During the holidays, as well as at work, Igor Georgievich takes an active part: he plays the saxophone for his colleagues, sings songs, and tries on different images.
In a word, the workers who were subordinate to Igor Artamonov, judging by their responses on the Internet, are now jealous of the Lipetsk residents in a good way.

Death of the daughter of Russian businessman Igor Artamonov: details
The daughter of Russian businessman Igor Artamonov, Polina, was found dead in her dormitory room at a prestigious London school. According to preliminary data, the cause of death of the 17-year-old girl was suicide. From London - Vesti FM radio correspondent Elena Balaeva. Polina Artamonova, a 17-year-old student at an international school in London, died a month ago, on January 21, but the press became aware of this only now. Perhaps the police deliberately delayed publishing the story. The girl’s father, Igor Artamonov, is a wealthy Russian banker who holds the position of head of the Central Russian bank Sberbank. And any tragic stories in which wealthy immigrants from Russia are involved attract special attention in Britain. And the press is always looking for crime in them.
The Ufa native was discovered at 8 a.m. by fellow students. The girl showed no signs of life. The police and ambulance arrived at the scene and recorded a cardiac arrest.
Polina lived in a separate room on the third floor of a dormitory at the elite Bellerbys school in the Greenwich area. Tuition costs about 30 thousand pounds a year. She was alone at the time of death. Forensic experts found traces of drugs and alcohol in the blood of the Russian woman. After interviewing Polina Artamonova's classmates and friends, the police concluded that the death was not suspicious. Most likely, the girl committed suicide.
In an interview with the British newspaper Evening Standard, this guess was confirmed by Polina's London friends. According to them, the girl suffered from unrequited love, the relationship with the young man did not work out, she was very worried and in the end could not cope with the emotional stress. Allegedly, Polina’s parents did not suspect this, although, according to her friends, during the entire week preceding her death, the girl was clearly not herself.
Polina’s father, Igor Artamonov, although he did not directly state that he does not believe the conclusions of the London police, has already hired private detectives who are independently investigating all the circumstances of the death of his 17-year-old daughter. After this story, the elite school Bellerbys College, which specializes in educating the children of wealthy foreigners, may well gain a bad reputation. The fact is that in 2011 this college was already included in crime reports. Four students, children of rich people from post-Soviet countries, were sentenced to different terms for raping a fellow student.
