Childhood
Yuri Nazarov, whose biography became the subject of our conversation, was born on May 5, 1937 in Novosibirsk. The Tomsk Institute for Advanced Medical Studies, where Yuri’s grandmother Anastasia worked, was transferred to this city. The mother of the future artist came to her to give birth safely. The first year, while his parents were studying in Tomsk, Yuri lived with his grandparents. In 1942, his brother Boris was born.
During the war, the boy was raised by his mother, who was forced to work 12 hours a day. Later, the entire Nazarov family gathered in Novosibirsk. My father got a job at a power plant. When the war ended, the Opera and Ballet Theater was opened in Novosibirsk. Yuri's father went there to audition and became a soloist. Later, Yuri Vladimirovich Nazarov repeatedly recalled how proud he and his brother were of their dad when he became a soloist of the theater. In 1949, Vladimir Nazarov passed away due to brain cancer.
Yuri remembers pre-war and war times well. He grew up among women and even then understood what a real woman was. “This is God’s creation, a real miracle and life itself, which must be appreciated,” Nazarov once said. He carried this attitude towards the weaker sex through all his screen and theatrical works. Nevertheless, the actor betrayed his official wife more than once, but more on that below.
Best films
In Andrei Tarkovsky's film "Andrei Rublev", consisting of eight short stories about Rus' in the 15th century, Yuri Nazarov played two roles: the Great Prince and the Little Prince. Tarkovsky approved Nazarov for the role after the first auditions, which was not typical for the director. This work became significant in the creative career of Yuri Vladimirovich.
In 1969, the film “His Excellency’s Adjutant” was released, in which Nazarov played the role of Red Army commander Emelyanov. The film was very popular.
In the same year, another film was shot: “The Red Tent”, based on real events that took place in the Arctic in 1928, during the rescue of victims of the crash of the airship “Italy” by Soviet pilots. The film is Russian-English-Italian, in which Yuri Nazarov plays the role of pilot Anatoly Alekseev.
The actor’s next memorable works were roles in the films “The Ballad of Bering and His Friends”, “Dauria”, “Hot Snow”, “Beyond the Clouds - the Sky”.
In 1973, viewers saw the adventure film “Sannikov Land”, based on the science fiction novel by Vladimir Obruchev.
The history of the creation of this most popular film can serve as a separate scenario for the story. The composition of the participants was difficult. Some actors were approved for the role, but withdrew from filming for various reasons, while others refused on their own. The participation of V.S. Vysotsky was planned, he even wrote several songs specifically for the film, but for ideological reasons he was not approved. Yuri Nazarov ended up on the set instead of Sergei Shakurov, who interrupted his participation, coming into direct conflict with the directors. As a result, the film crew produced a romantic film, which was seen by more than 41 million people in 1974, and is now watched with pleasure by the children and grandchildren of those first viewers.
In 1974, Yuri again worked with A. Tarkovsky to create the film “Mirror”. The film, a memory of the war and post-war childhood, greatly influenced the artist, who played the role of military commander Shirokov. Yuri Nazarov is proud of his roles in A. Tarkovsky’s films and recalls the indelible impression that remained after communicating with the great director.
With the onset of perestroika, the actor did not lose his audience; he acted a lot in modern cinema, finding roles close to his character.
Thus, another super-popular film that became a symbol of new times was the drama “Little Vera,” where Yuri Vladimirovich played the father of the main character. His character embodies the “old”, familiar way of life, tries to resist the cynical but charming representative of the “perestroika” generation, to protect his family from him, and symbolically dies of a heart attack, not finding the strength to survive the events happening around him.
Yuri Nazarov has successfully acted in many modern projects, embodying mainly the images of straightforward people who have their own point of view on current events. He is known for his roles in the series beloved by viewers: “Always say “always””, “Two Fates”, “Apostle”, “Terrorist Ivanova”, “Moscow Greyhound”, “Sklifosovsky”, “Penalty Man”.

Study break and second attempt
Without studying for even a year, Nazarov returned to his homeland and then went to Kazakhstan. The party and the Komsomol called to the virgin lands, and Yuri could not help but follow there. One of the guy’s role models was the same Shchukin, who came to acting straight from the Civil War. Remembering his student days, Yuri says that in those days, intelligent, reflective young people were considered fashionable. He entered the school out of boredom and left it to see life as it is. Therefore, having passed the first session, Yuri went to Kazakhstan, where, in addition to his intellectual problems, there were plenty of their own.
In the Kazakh SSR, a guy worked at the construction of railway bridges as a laborer. Later he got a job in a construction column in Novosibirsk. Then he went to the collective farm. And finally he ended up in the forge of one of the villages on the Don as a hammerman. Two years later, Yuri was ready to receive higher education and entered the Shchukin Theater School. In 1960, he graduated and became an actor at the Moscow Lenin Komsomol Theater. And in 1963, Yuri became an artist at the Film Actor Studio Theatre.
First roles
Yuri Nazarov first appeared in films in 1954, but his footage never made it onto the screen. It was in the fall, in the first year of study at the school. Shchukin. During physical education classes, an assistant from Mosfilm came to the stadium where Yuri’s group was practicing. She needed guys to be extras in the film “Test of Loyalty.” The director of the film was Ivan Pyryev, and the main role was played by Marina Ladynina. Yuri agreed to star in this movie. When the film was released, Nazarov called all his relatives so that they would not miss it. The actor himself watched the film more than ten times, but never saw himself in it.
In 1957, the artist made his official film debut. It was a historical and biographical film “Stories about Lenin”. Three years later, Nazarov was invited to play Dmitry Novikov in a film called “The Last Salvos.” According to Yuri, the film was one of the best works of Yu. Bondarev. After reading the script, the young actor immediately fell in love with the main character.
First steps in cinema
Yuri Nazarov is an actor whose personal life and biography interests many of his fans today. But for several decades no one knew about the existence of such a brilliant and self-sufficient artist.
Yuri Vladimirovich's film debut took place in 1957. He played the role of a worker in Stories about Lenin. Few viewers will be able to remember this image.
Nazarov’s first serious work can be called his role in the film “The Last Salvos.” Director Leon Saakov highly praised the young actor’s performance and predicted a great future for him. It is impossible not to mention such a film as “In Difficult Hours”. It described the Battle of Moscow in 1941. Pyotr Kotelnikov - this hero was played by Yuri Nazarov. The list of films with his participation can be long. Below we will talk about the most striking and memorable films in which the famous actor starred.
Accident
In 1963, Yuri Nazarov starred in the film “You Are Not Alone,” which tells about the life of an orphan teenager. On one of the shooting days, on the way to the set, the car in which the actor was traveling overturned. As a result, he flew out of the car and hit his back hard on the pavement. The actor suffered a spinal fracture and concussion.
For several weeks Yuri was completely paralyzed. The doctors unanimously said that he would not survive. Nazarov’s wife, Tatyana, often recalled how, when she went into Yuri’s room, she saw a gauze bandage torn by her teeth. The man gnawed at it so as not to scream in pain. Nevertheless, he was able to survive.
Creative crisis
Having recovered from the accident, Yuri fell into a creative crisis. With the words “I can’t play serious roles without knowing life,” the actor went to Siberia and got a job as a winch operator on a dredger. The wife and children remained in the capital. The son was three years old at the time, and the daughter was two. A few months later, the family went to Yuri to see how he was living there. The wife was shocked to see that the actor was sleeping in the hold of the barge. Of course, she changed her mind about moving with him with the children and returned to Moscow. Soon, Tatyana received a call from Mosfilm management with the question: “How should we respond to Yuri Vladimirovich’s request to fire him, which he sent by mail?” After thinking with her husband’s colleagues, Tatyana decided that she needed to send Yuri a script that he couldn’t refuse. As a result, they did just that. Yuri was offered to play the main role in the film “The Ballad of the Commissar”. So the actor returned to Moscow and continued his career.
Yuri Nazarov: filmography for the 1970-1980s
The actor has always admired classic Soviet cinema. He singled out such directors as Kulidzhanov, Khutsiev and Smirnov. Yuri Vladimirovich tried to follow their example. In the drama “The Last Holiday” he managed to get used to the image of Anton. It is impossible not to note his brilliant performance in the film “Liberation”.
And the film “Sannikov’s Land”, created by directors L. Popov and A. Mkrtchyan, can be called a real masterpiece of Russian cinema. In this film, Yuri Nazarov played the lost Gubin. His colleagues on the set were Oleg Dal, Nikolai Gritsenko, Georgy Vitsin and others.
The country's best directors knew who Yuri Nazarov was. Films with his participation were regularly released on wide screens. “Tavern on Pyatnitskaya”, “Found Guilty”, “Demidovs” - this is an incomplete list of films presented to the audience in the 70-80s.

Return
In 1964, the actor took part in the filming of the film “Uninvited Love.” Yuri gained fame thanks to his participation in the films of Andrei Tarkovsky. One of these works was the biographical drama “Andrei Rublev”, in which Nazarov played two roles at once. As Yuri says, “Andrei Rublev” plunged him into the terrible paradoxes of Russia, but at the same time deepened his love for it. “One thing is blinding love, which falls unexpectedly and completely captivates the consciousness, and another thing is conscious love, when you know and notice everything, but still love. Tarkovsky gave me such love!” – says Yuri Nazarov.
The second project in which Nazarov worked fruitfully with Tarkovsky was the film “Mirror,” which was released in 1974. Other bright films by Yuri Nazarov are “Last Holidays”, “Dauria”, “Liberation”, “Hot Snow”, “Sannikov Land”. The actor was especially often offered to star in war films.
Carier start
Having received an acting diploma, Yuri began acting in Lenkom, and in 1957 he played his first role in the historical film “Stories about Lenin”. The name of the young artist who played the emotional worker at the rally was not indicated in the credits, and in the following films he also played episodic roles, but already in 1960 he played the main role. In the military film story “The Last Salvos,” the young actor played the role of the heroic captain Novikov, who gave his life in the name of saving the Motherland.

Nazarov’s next significant work is considered to be his participation in Andrei Tarkovsky’s film epic “Andrei Rublev.” In this film, Yuri played two roles, the role of the Great Prince and the role of the Small Prince.
Yuri Nazarov in the film “Andrei Rublev”
An interesting fact is that Tarkovsky, who was always scrupulous about the selection of actors, approved Nazarov for the role of warring brothers without any tests or auditions, and he was not mistaken. Nazarov became a worthy partner to the great actors of the Soviet period: Ivan Lapikov, Rolan Bykov, Mikhail Kononov, Irina Miroshnichenko and Yuri Nikulin.
Andrei Tarkovsky and Yuri Nazarov on the set of the film “Andrei Rublev”
During his film career, Nazarov appeared in almost 300 films, but viewers sometimes did not even realize that the actor was filming while overcoming pain. The terrible accident that Yuri Vladimirovich got into shortly after graduating from college could have confined him to bed forever, but he was able to recover from his back injury and starred in the film “Andrei Rublev” wearing a corrective corset. According to the actor, he was always “lucky” for injuries; he fell literally out of the blue and often became a victim of an accident.
Career blossoming
In the 70-80s, Nazarov’s career began to flourish. During these years, he starred in many films of various genres. The following films with the participation of Yuri Nazarov were especially memorable: “Rainstorm”, “In a New Place”, “Tavern on Pyatnitskaya”, “Admitted Guilty”, “Demidovs”, as well as “The Head of the Gorgon”. As the actor himself admits, out of a considerable number of roles, he most liked the role of Stepan Zherekhov in the film “Behind the Clouds is the Sky,” which was released in 1983. The film was dedicated to test pilots and aircraft designers who, at the beginning of the post-war period, risked their lives to develop new jet aircraft.
And Nazarov’s most successful film of the late 80s is considered to be the drama “Little Vera”. Yuri recalls that in the film “Little Vera” there was a scene where the groom comes to his father-in-law in short pants. The actor had a remark: “Where is this groom?” He told the director that the Russian pope would have called this groom differently. The director replied that Yuri should speak as he thinks. Nazarov argued with him, but he insisted, saying that it was his problem. Well, Yuri said... In general, he believes that Russian swearing is the best. His grandfather said that during the war, when only women were left on the collective farm, when asked by the authorities: “How are you here?” - they answered: “At first it was difficult, but as soon as they started swearing, it immediately became easier.”
Yuri Nazarov is an actor with a capital A. He had many roles in TV series. Most of all he is remembered for the films “Cheryomushki”, “Game of Throwing”, “Beauty Salon”, “Thief”. In the 2000s, the actor continued to work actively. During these times, with his participation, the films “Bear Hunt”, “Under the North Star”, “Halfway to Paris”, “The Forest Princess” were released, as well as the series “Two Colors of Passion”, “Platinum”, “The Last Reproduction” and others . Yuri Nazarov's roles in films and TV series number in the hundreds. In total, the actor played in almost 250 films throughout his career. He plays the guitar and sings well. One of the chapters of the book is called “Why Tarkovsky is dear to me.” According to the actor, his soul and memory contains his own Tarkovsky. Yuri himself has always been a realist in his worldview. Therefore, it is the realistic side of the director’s work that is dear to him.

The actor’s wife denies rumors that Yuri Vladimirovich lives with Rostovite Lyudmila Maltseva, but the media sometimes call this actress his second wife.
Yuri Nazarov: personal life
It is difficult to say how many wives Yuri Nazarov had. Officially - two, but in fact - only he himself knows. The first union with a stamp in the passport lasted only two weeks. More precisely, Yuri lived with his wife for two weeks, and then went to his second wife, Tatyana Ivanovna. As Tatyana recalls: “On the set of one of the first films, in 1960, Yuri mistakenly got married. He and his wife were together for only two weeks. When we started dating him, he no longer remembered her, but the stamp remained in his passport.”
Tatyana worked at the Lenkom Theater as an accompanist, and Nazarov came there from college. He was given the main role in the play. While working together, Yuri and Tatyana began an affair. Soon they began to live with her parents, since the actor, who came from Novosibirsk, did not have his own housing in the capital. Tatyana's dad, Ivan Kudryavtsev, was a student of Stanislavsky. He played at the Moscow Art Theater throughout his life and even became a People's Artist of Russia. And Tatyana’s mother was a housewife.
The couple did not sign for a long time. But one day they finally decided to legitimize their union. This took place in 1961. There were about 80 people at the wedding - the entire Lenkom came together. The wedding was celebrated in the five-room apartment of Tatyana’s grandparents. Yuri did not have an engagement ring, but he bought one for his wife. As Tatyana says, she didn’t care much, because she doubted that Nazarov would wear the ring. The couple had two daughters and a son. They lived in marriage for more than 50 years, but this did not stop the actor from starting families on the side.
Personal life
Officially, Yuri was married twice. The actor's first marriage lasted only two weeks in 1960. The young man got divorced, considering his action wrong.
Yuri’s second wife was Tatyana Ivanovna, accompanist at the Lenkom Theater. They met when the young actor just came to work in the theater after drama school. In 1961, the lovers got married. Three children were born into their family: son Vladimir and daughters Vasilisa and Tatyana.
Subsequently, Vladimir received a medical education, Vasilisa became an art critic, and Tatyana followed in her father’s footsteps and graduated from VGIK.
In the 60s, after a car accident, Yuri was bedridden due to the displacement of several vertebrae. After lying there for a year and a half, thanks to his persistent character and training, the artist was able to perform a miracle. Three years later, Yuri fully recovered physically and began to walk.
Yuri and Tatyana have been together for over 50 years. Despite this, the actor had relationships on the side. Since 1979, Yuri lived with Mosfilm employee Tatyana Razumovskaya.
From her, the artist had two daughters: the eldest Varvara and the youngest Marfa, who, when they grew up, received a director's education. At the moment, Varvara lives in Holland, and Marfa lives in the Moscow region. The artist always supported illegitimate children in everything.
In 1994, Yuri met actress and cultural critic Lyudmila Maltseva, with whom he lived for more than twenty years, remaining officially married to Tatyana. At the moment, Lyudmila and Yuri live together. Today, the artist is already a great-grandfather four times. But he still films a lot and is restless, as he always was.
Union with Tatyana Razumovskaya
The first extramarital family was the union of Yuri with Tatyana Razumovskaya. They started communicating in 1979, when Razumovskaya worked as a costume designer at Mosfilm. She gave birth to Yuri two daughters. According to Tatyana, she was never attracted to actors, but Nazarov was a completely separate person with a very specific character. Yuri read a lot, and Tatyana really appreciated it. They got together mainly due to their shared interest in Rasputin, Shchedrin and the classics. Razumovskaya gave birth to her first daughter, Varvara, at 39 years old, and her second, Marfa, at 43 years old. The initiator of the birth of children in both cases was Yuri Nazarov.
Daughter Varvara went to Holland and got a job as a television director there. And Marfa lives in the Moscow region. She is also a director, only in the theater. Artist Yuri Nazarov admits that he sinned by having extramarital affairs. Now he is trying to atone for his guilt with alimony, which he pays to his daughters, despite the fact that they have already become parents themselves. Nazarov once said: “I help them and that makes me feel like a man. I hope that if I fall ill, the children will not let me die under the fence. And if they give it, it means I raised them wrong.”
Union with Lyudmila Maltseva
For the last twenty years, Yuri Nazarov has been in close contact with Lyudmila Maltseva. The romance began in the mid-2000s. Lyudmila was then an artist and cultural researcher. Yuri helped her make a career on stage. Now the couple goes on tour together and looks like a real family. Some media even position Maltseva as the actor’s wife. Yuri's legal wife even made scandals about this. The children took it hard to learn that their father was leading a double life. They used to be very upset about this, but over time they got used to it.
