Biography

Sergei Makhovikov was born in the suburbs of St. Petersburg, in the city of Pavlovsk, a five-minute walk from the palace of Emperor Paul.
On this occasion, Sergei jokes that he grew up “at the court of His Imperial Majesty.” Sergei's father was a builder, his mother was a teacher. Despite this, the actor never tires of repeating that he is a peasant’s son. He can mow, dig, take care of the garden, and grow apple trees.

As a teenager, his parents gave their son a gift that he later called life-changing: a guitar. Since then, Sergei Makhovikov has been composing, singing songs and writing music for films.

After school, Makhovikov entered the navigator department at the Higher Naval Command School named after M.V. Frunze. Six months later, Sergei was transferred to the Military Mechanical Institute, where he studied in the rocket department. Without completing even one course, Makhovikov dropped out and entered a theater university.

As the actor recalls, such a sharp turn in fate occurred after attending a performance with Alisa Freindlich: Sergei was so impressed by her skill that it gave rise to the desire to achieve the same heights in theatrical art.

After graduating from school, he entered the Higher Naval Command School named after M.V. Frunze, then transferred to the Military Mechanical Institute (Baltic University) to the rocket department, but did not graduate.

I entered LGITMiK on the course of Igor Gorbachev. From the second year he played on the stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater. He worked in the Leningrad theaters - Shelter of Comedians and Molodezhny.

Became a volunteer student at Alexander Sokurov's film school. Then he opened a studio theater and produced his own play. In 1989, he was invited as a production director to the Khabarovsk Regional Drama Theater. Over the course of a year and a half, he played in 9 theater premieres and staged two productions.

In 1991, at the Andrei Mironov acting song competition, he received the Grand Prix and a special prize from the AiF newspaper. Director Evgeny Ginzburg saw him there and invited him to play the main role in the film “Simple-hearted”. This role was awarded by the cinematic community with two prizes: for the best film debut of the year at the Constellation IFF-94 and for the best male role at the Smile, Russia! IFF.

In 1993 he served as an actor at the Moscow Art Theater named after A.P. Chekhov.

After a serious, almost fatal illness, I had to start from scratch. If they didn’t invite me to the cinema, I worked in the theater; if there was no work there, then I made money through music. He did show programs in clubs and casinos.

In 1999, he worked as the head of programs of the Directorate of Presidential Programs of the Russian Cultural Foundation (RFK).

After the release of the film “Blind” (2004), in which Sergei played the main role and acted as co-director, he received well-deserved audience recognition for his inner strength, dignity and unbending will. And now I am sure that everything is just beginning.

Awarded a personalized watch from the director of the FSB of Russia, the Order for Service to Russia, a commemorative medal for the 15th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from the DRA; laureate of the M.V. Prize Lomonosov with the presentation of a gold medal for his contribution to the development of national culture and art, member of the Union of Cinematographers, member of the public council of the Academy of Management of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

The beginning of the 90s brought the artist victory at the Andrei Mironov acting song competition. Participation in the competition turned Sergei’s career towards cinema, as he was noticed by film director Evgeniy Ginzburg and invited him to his film called “Simple-minded”. Personal life

While studying at LGITMiK, Sergei began dating his classmate Yulia. The relationship was short-lived; they were separated by creative ambitions. “I never break up with anyone. We remained friends and people close to each other,” said Makhovikov in the studio of the program “The Fate of a Man with Boris Korchevnikov.”

They met Larisa Shakhvorostova when they were both “young, beautiful and free.” Sergei didn’t want to know anything about Larisa’s first marriage then, and even now he doesn’t want to. “A romantic in life,” Makhovikov looked closely at Larisa for a long time, read poetry, and brought champagne to the room. “She had to be an officer’s wife, because inside I am a military man. She should have waited for me. And she waited,” said the actor. He came to her in Moscow and proposed. They went to church to get married. Then the priest immediately blessed the lovers, although they did not yet have a marriage certificate from the registry office.

The couple had no children for nine years. But they never lost hope. The husband and wife prayed, fasted, believed, and a miracle happened. In 2002, Sergei and Larisa had a long-awaited daughter. Makhovikov was the first in the maternity hospital to take little Sashenka in his arms.

The personal life of Sergei Makhovikov is quite stable. Sergei met his wife Larisa Shakhvorostova on the set of the film “Simplicity”. Makhovikov’s creative biography began during his student years: a sophomore was accepted into the staff of the Alexandrinsky Theater. After completing his studies, the actor got a job at the Comedians' Shelter theater.

His passion for cinema led Sergei to the film school of Alexander Sokurov, a famous Russian director. Year of Flywheels learned the basics of a new art, and after completing the course he founded his own theater studio, directing the first production.

At the end of the 80s, Sergei Anatolyevich was invited to work at the Khabarovsk Drama Theater as a director. This city brought two staged performances and nine film roles to Makhovikov’s collection. In 1993, the actor appeared on the stage of the capital’s Moscow Art Theater named after A.P.
