Daria Sagalova: Today you were on the wrong shooting day, so it may not be very clear. In fact, the main characters here are the crew of the plane: two pilots, a senior Ford conductor, flight attendants and stewards. Personally, I am a flight attendant.
Piterzavtra: What moments have already been filmed? What are your impressions of the shooting?
Daria Sagalova: A lot of things have already been filmed. We filmed at the airport and in our rest rooms. Our entire crew looks very elegant in the uniform of the aircraft crew. The plot is well written. The subtle humor that is loved in Russia, different from American TV series, everything is funny and kind at the same time.
Piterzavtra: What is the main character Polina (Natalia Bordo) trying so hard to prove to her rival Lesha (Alexey Chadov)
Daria Sagalova: She wants to be the first pilot. Our captain is Lesha, but she wants to take over the leadership, proving that she is no worse.
Piterzavtra: Can the “weaker sex” professionally master the skills of a business that requires nerves of steel?
Daria Sagalova: Definitely. Why not? A woman is also capable of taking everything into her own hands.
Piterzavtra: Did you have a phobia related to flying or heights?
Daria Sagalova: No, thank God there is no phobia, but an element of excitement is always present. I am rather afraid of flying to dangerous countries where the situation is unstable. Naturally, I don’t get into trouble, but with our proven companies, especially when flying within the territory of Russia, I am not afraid to fly. I don’t worry about the plane malfunctioning, but like everyone else I’m afraid of unforeseen events.
Piterzavtra: The main character is a beautiful and smart blonde, does the plot of your series break stereotypes?
Daria Sagalova: Do stereotypes still exist today? Maybe I'm already past that blonde age. Any girl, regardless of blonde or brunette, can act intellectually in extreme conditions.
Piterzavtra: Besides this project, are you involved in any other TV shows?
Daria Sagalova: I no longer have additional filming. I no longer work on two or three series at once, because I have two little princesses at home. The eldest is already quite big, so she and I have a lot of different activities, homework, etc., we need to study. Plus, I have a dance school, three branches, which I also need to constantly visit and promote. The only thing is that now I will have another project, a children's program. And I’m not taking anything else for now, at least until the filming of the series “Flight Crew” ends.
Piterzavtra: How often do you have to fly?
Daria Sagalova: Very often. Sometimes I have to fly out in the morning and return at night, or vice versa, if the shift is at 7 am and I don’t make it to the plane on time, then I have to put the children to bed at night and fly straight away.
Piterzavtra: Is this very difficult for you?
Daria Sagalova: For me, this is easier than having an extra day off or spending a day moving, and then staying in a hotel when I have children at home.
Piterzavtra: They want to take a photo with you and ask for your autograph. Do people recognize you on the street as Sveta Bukina?
Daria Sagalova: No, like Svetlana Bukin, to be honest, they already stopped. Nowadays, you usually meet some person, and he begins to tell his story about how once he was about 7 years old, he ran from school to watch a series with my participation, and in general, that I do not change. I immediately want to go to the mirror or look at my passport. It’s a slightly different realization because these seven-year-old children are getting older and more mature. At the same time, the state is incomprehensible on how to play the role, I try to let go of the situation, but there is such a strange feeling, because people say that they grew up watching the series with my participation.
Piterzavtra: Don’t you think that roles in comedy series put a cliché on an actor and hinder career growth in the future?
Daria Sagalova: In general, I think that a cliché is some kind of perverted concept that exists only here in Russia. I think it’s wonderful when an actor has not a cliché, but a calling card. Not everyone can boast of this. Always in Soviet times, and even Hollywood actors loved and were proud of their signature roles; this could be his first role or his most striking work. We constantly have new productions, now we are preparing for Victory Day and the May concerts.
