Mikhail Barshchevsky: you need to live in such a way as not to grow a beard later

Who is he, our hero?

Mikhail Yuryevich Barshchevsky, a hereditary lawyer and head of the Barshchevsky and Partners law office, is known to almost every Russian. At the moment, he is the plenipotentiary representative of the Government of the Russian Federation in the highest courts. This amazing man is a Doctor of Law, a loving husband and father, an Honored Lawyer of the Russian Federation. Who else is Mikhail Yuryevich Barshchevsky? His biography states his rank quite clearly - active state councilor of the Russian Federation, 1st class. His regalia and titles can be listed endlessly. His life and career are admirable and exemplary. Let's find out more closely who Mikhail Yuryevich Barshchevsky is.

Labor activity

After college, Mikhail continued his studies in correspondence graduate school, and also began his career:

  • at the Moscow Margarine Plant as a legal adviser (1973-1979);
  • in the Reutov city trade as a senior legal adviser (1979-1980);
  • Member of the Moscow City Bar Association (since 1980).

In 1982, he defended his PhD thesis at the Institute of State and Law of the USSR Academy of Sciences. By that time in Moscow he was already a fairly popular lawyer in criminal and civil cases.

He immediately followed a deliberately difficult path. Many lawyers, in order to create a first-class reputation for themselves, only took on winning cases. For Mikhail, such tricks were unacceptable; he generally began to take on those cases that others refused. If he lost, he didn’t worry too much: he didn’t succeed, but others didn’t even try. But winning was a real professional success for him. So he earned an excellent reputation and by the end of the 1980s he finally decided on the scope of his professional activity - a business lawyer (Mikhail worked on his last criminal case in 1985).

In 1989, he was sent to an internship at one of the largest law firms in America. Here he first thought, why not create his own law firm in Russia? After all, in our homeland the era of market relations was in full swing.

Upon his arrival home in 1990, Barshchevsky created a private law firm. In 1993, it was reorganized into the Barshchevsky and Partners law office. Today, Mikhail and his office colleagues occupy leading positions in legal services for Russian entrepreneurs. Among their clients are banks, ministries, and government agencies.

In 1997, Barshchevsky defended his doctoral dissertation and in 2000 received a professorship.

In 2001, he was invited to work in the government of the Russian Federation, where he became a plenipotentiary representative in the Constitutional Court, and later in the Supreme and Supreme Arbitration Courts. In fact, he is a lawyer for the Russian government.

Biography: celebrity family

On December 27, New Year's Eve 1956, a young actress named Erica gave birth to a son in one of the Moscow maternity hospitals. The boy was named Mikhail. And looking then at this pink-cheeked little one, no one could even think that they were looking at a future talented and famous lawyer. Mikhail's profession was predetermined by heredity. He has quite an interesting family tree.

The grandmother of the future celebrity on her mother's side could boast of noble origin. Her father was a descendant of the Teutonic Knights. And Mikhail’s great-grandfather on his father’s side was a successful lawyer at one time in Kharkov. Grandmother Tatyana Yakovlevna is a deputy prosecutor of Moscow. She survived the execution of her husband in 1936, years of repression, exile beyond the 101st kilometer, and in the post-war years she practiced law. Our hero's father was one of the best legal advisers in the USSR after the Second World War. Is it any wonder that Mikhail Yuryevich Barshchevsky connected his life with advocacy? And he even chose his wife among the lawyers. Olga is a candidate of philological sciences and doctor of historical sciences. We can safely say that we have before us a professorial family in the full sense of the word. And even daughter Natalya works after graduating from the Faculty of Law of Moscow State University. But let's go back to Mikhail's childhood and youth.

Beginning of the biography

A native of Moscow, he was born in 1955. His birthday is December 27th. Dad, Yuri Dmitrievich, was a lawyer, and mother, Erika Zalmanovna, was an actress. Both were raised in intelligent families. In my father’s family, up to the fourth generation, everyone practiced law, and my mother’s grandmother had noble roots. Being German by nationality, she was descended from the descendants of Teutonic knights, tracing the family tree back to the Middle Ages.

Mikhail Yuryevich Barshchevsky graduated from English special school No. 29 in 1973 and unexpectedly decided to enter the Shchukin School to become an actor. Yuri Dmitrievich convinced his son to see a famous teacher. In his opinion, if you go to the theater, then have real talent. He did not give any guarantees, noting only the presence of some abilities. Then the young man went to work at a margarine factory, while enrolling in VZYUI (correspondence law school).

Proud march through life

How did this man manage to achieve such success? Why is Mikhail Yuryevich Barshchevsky so good? His biography and personal life are of interest to many.

So, he studied at an English special school for 10 years. During these years, Mikhail joined the Komsomol. And from 1983 until the collapse of the USSR, he was a member of the CPSU. Our hero's career began at the capital's margarine factory, where he served as a legal adviser. He also graduated from the All-Union Correspondence Law Institute. The year 1980 was marked by the fact that Mikhail became a lawyer at the Moscow Bar Association. Two years later he defended his Ph.D.

Reviews from grateful clients clearly and reasonably indicate that Mikhail is a true professional, decent and honest. He began his journey in the world of advocacy differently than many others. Our hero did not want to take on only winning cases. He hated this, he wanted to prove to himself and everyone else what real professional success meant to him. This is when a deliberately failed business, thanks to his efforts and efforts, ended in victory. If success was not achieved, Mikhail was at least honest with himself and his clients - after all, he tried, fought, took on what others simply turned away from.

Mikhail Barshchevsky: “Adopt children - give yourself a second youth!”

07.10.2010

Many modern businessmen and show business stars adopt children. What motivates them: the desire to earn a name for themselves or the desire to help the kids? Mikhail Barshchevsky and his wife Olga will answer this question.

AAA

Star couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have already adopted four children from the poorest countries in the world. This is how they try to attract public attention to the economic and demographic problems of third world countries. However, the appearance of the couple surrounded by children has become too intrusive, so many admirers of the actors’ talent doubt the sincerity of the stars and wonder whether this is advertising or a good cause. The question also arises with raising children, because star parents cannot be a father or mother in the full sense. They are most often absent from filming and devote their children to nannies and governesses.

Hugh Jackman, Steven Spielberg, Madonna, Ronald Reagan, and Gerhard Schroeder have adopted children.

However, children are adopted not only in the West. Barshchevsky family also became adoptive parents.

. They, as it turned out, having an adult daughter and grandchildren, adopted two two-year-old twins Maxim and Dasha from an orphanage. The Barshchevsky couple does not hide the fact that they did this for reasons of selfishness; they wanted to give their life a new meaning, because their career was successful, their daughter had grown up. Such a touching step evokes respect for the people who actually saved two human souls from loneliness.

Mikhail received many questions about how difficult it was and whether it was worth doing. The well-known lawyer admitted that thanks to his education and connections, he and his wife went through all the bureaucratic procedures somewhat easier than in the usual case. It was just as easy for him to choose a child. Olga and her husband visited orphanages with a list of children who could be adopted or taken under guardianship. They approached the kids and tried to talk. “Maxim immediately chose Misha,” Olga recalls. “I walked up to him, happily hit him on the hand with all my might and laughed. Misha said: “This is mine!” Dasha was more careful. But she still smiled at me and went into my arms.” Secondly, the answer to the question - to take it or not to take it - is obvious to me. Take! Get new joys and worries, which also maintains your tone.” With children, Mikhail is sure, the house becomes more fun. When older children fly out of the nest, there is no one to take their place. Grandchildren do not appear at home very often, because they have their own parents. Therefore, the adopted children gave 55-year-old Barshchevsky a second youth.

Mikhail is confident that an adopted child can become his own: “Two years is the period during which the child will become “yours.” You will begin to recognize in him your own gestures, rhetoric, habits, affections. With relatives, this process occurs from the day of birth, gradually and imperceptibly. With receptionists there was nothing for a long time, and then suddenly there was a lot at once.” Now the adopted children of the Barshchevskys happily call their parents “dad” and “mama,” which Mikhail and Olga are extremely happy about.

Although the issue of raising children was still transferred to nannies. “Parents” are only responsible for the creative side of development: they read books to the kids, take them to activities, and play. “Now after work I want to go home, and not to a party. And if we do go to parties and come back late, I’m upset that I didn’t have time to kiss the children before bed... Previously, I wasn’t afraid to die, but now it’s scary, because there’s a sense of responsibility: we need to educate them, raise them... At least until that moment when they go to college,” said Mikhail.

Barshchevsky, now relying on his own experience, advises daring families to take two children: “Firstly, the two “close” on each other and free up some time for you (after all, the years are not the same). Secondly, each pulls up the other in something of his own, and reaches out for him in something else. Thirdly, it's much more interesting for you. And finally, fourthly, do not forget about your age and remember that after some time you will be gone, and they will have to go through life together.”

Of course, many may think that Mikhail speaks too prudently and pragmatically about children and the benefits of them. But those who know him will understand that he is a man of an analytical mind and is used to putting everything into order. All the facts in his life are scattered into huge baskets on which “Yes” and “No” are written. In everyday life, Barshchevsky treats children very touchingly and reverently. To all questions about whether he is happy or not, he replies that if time went back, he would definitely repeat this step.

Many of Mikhail’s acquaintances, having learned about the heroic act of the Barshchevskys, thought about adoption. “From our example, they realized that everything is not so scary,” he concluded. “We need to overcome the psychological barrier, and then constant positive emotions will arise again.” You will get a real buzz!”

Mikhail Yurievich and children

Married to his wife Olga Imanuilovna, the lawyer had one and only daughter, Natalya, in 1977. And so, after 30 years of family life, when the baby grew up and flew away from her parents’ nest and even gave her mom and dad two grandchildren, the Barshchevskys became sad. Despite their age, they still wanted to give someone a piece of warmth and love. And then it thundered in all the media: “Mikhail Yuryevich Barshchevsky adopted children.” And now the joy of fatherhood and motherhood inspires them and gives them strength.

As the lawyer himself says, one day, in moments of sadness, returning home with his wife, he suddenly suggested that she take the baby from the orphanage. And what was his surprise when she not only agreed, but also put forward her own version - to find a boy and a girl. Very little time has passed since that fateful conversation. And so the charming twins, Dasha and Maxim, found a home and loving parents. Of course, there were a lot of fears and worries that the children would be less healthy or smart than their peers. But everything turned out well. The Barshchevsky family does not slow down the pace of life; it is an example for many relatives and friends. After this act of the couple, some of their friends also decided to give home and care to abandoned babies.

Scandals have arisen around the name of Mikhail Barshchevsky more than once. Recently, one of the scandalous journalists accused a famous man of visiting dating sites, being a decent husband and loving father, representative and defender of the law of the country. And he not only visits, but also conducts intimate correspondence with different girls. She presented evidence. Believe it or not is your right. Successful people have plenty of envious people. However, people who are closely acquainted with Mikhail have their own opinion about this story.

Mikhail Barshchevsky: you need to live in such a way as not to grow a beard later

I casually mentioned to several acquaintances that I would like to try myself in a new field. As a result, I was unexpectedly invited to the White House and offered the position of deputy secretary. I thanked him for his trust, but... refused, explaining that I did not see myself in the role of deputy, since over many years I had become accustomed to being my own boss. Being under someone is not my psychology. It is easier to become a voluntary advisor than a subordinate. In general, we finished the conversation, I was already heading towards the door, when the owner of the office suddenly said: “You know, we have a vacant position as a government representative in the Constitutional Court.” I clarified: “Lawyer of the Cabinet of Ministers?” And he immediately agreed.

Two days later, the appointment order was issued. Then the Supreme Court and the Supreme Arbitration Court joined.

I walked, I repeat, out of curiosity. The wife was categorically against it, she said: you are not an official, they will eat you there. I answered: “So, so. I’ll work for six months to prove to you my vitality. But no more than two years - I can’t stand it any longer.”

Today I have been in the position of government plenipotentiary for 16 and a half years.

At first, journalists liked to ask how much money I had lost. He answered honestly that I had $250 and still had it. Only earlier it was an hour, but now it’s a month.

— At the same time, at some point you had the largest fleet of vehicles among White House employees.

— But for some reason no one paid attention to the age of the cars. I don't change them like gloves. Now I drive a car made in 2005, it suits me quite well. Recently I sold three veterans of the auto industry, five remain. Among them, for example, is the 220 Mercedes from 2000 with a mileage of, believe it or not, 10 thousand kilometers. The car is essentially in the garage. This is my gift to my wife for her silver wedding. When we were very, very young, and I asked Olya to marry her, she flirtatiously said: “I agree, if you promise me white boots, a trip to Paris and a Mercedes.” The year was, as you can easily calculate, 1975. White boots were a relative reality; a tour to France and a foreign car belonged to the realm of fantasy. Nevertheless, I bought white boots about a year and a half after the wedding, we went to Paris for the first time about 15 years later, and Mercedes had to wait another ten.

In 2001, I bought a small Lexus for winter trips. It has 12 thousand miles. A few years ago I bought a Land Cruiser jeep at a discount. Olga and I are mushroom pickers, we love to get out of town...

Should I continue the story about my cars or is that enough?

— It seemed to me that you didn’t finish your answer about experiences related to your immediate future.

“I will not forget the parting words of Sergei Stepashin, who called me on the very first day of work in a new place and said the following verbatim: “Misha, I congratulate you, but I want to warn you that your first step towards maintaining your position will be the first step towards resignation.” I remembered these words firmly and since 2001 I have done nothing to keep the chair under me. Nothing!

- But now you have connections with whom it would be a shame not to become a lobbyist.

“If we ever pass a corresponding law, I will most likely leave my current job and create a lobbying firm.” This is wildly interesting! Just don’t confuse it with corruption. Lobbying is the ability to convince oneself that one is right. Plus, of course, PR, GR, but these are already tools, and the essence of the craft is to convince, not bribe. This is close to the legal profession.

In one of my stories there is this image: when you shave in the morning, you are forced to look into your eyes, otherwise you will cut yourself. So you need to live in such a way that you don’t feel ashamed and don’t have to grow a beard later.
