Polina Strelnikova: “Follow your husband to the ends of the earth!”

BIOGRAPHY

Polina Syrkina (Strelnikova) was born into a simple family, far from art. Her parents are engineers by education, together from school. For their daughter, their couple has always been an example of family happiness and prosperity. Harmony, mutual understanding, and love reigned in their home.

Polina studied in a physics and mathematics class, and in her free time attended various clubs and studios. The girl grew up as a very independent child; her parents did not forbid her anything. “I was a difficult teenager. I wanted to do everything differently. I am very grateful to my parents that at that moment they stoically survived everything and remained my friends. There has always been absolute trust between us,” admits the actress.

In high school, Polina became interested in theater. She recalls: “I was ready to spend days and nights there, and spent all my free time outside of school. I remember when I was sixteen there was an interesting incident. During a math lesson, I went to the board, wrote some formulas, and suddenly the teacher said to me: “Why are you standing here? Polya, you’re an actress!” Perhaps it was then that I allowed this thought to enter my head.” After ninth grade, the girl passed a competition and entered drama school. And in 2008 she graduated from the Belarusian State Academy of Arts (course of V.A. Mishchanchuk).

The actress was born in Minsk. This joyful event occurred on June 20. 1986 The parents of the future actress were engineers. The girl also studied at a school with a physics and technology focus. It was the exact sciences that Polina was best at.

At the age of 13, the actress visited the theater for the first time and was so amazed by the acting and the atmosphere in the theater that she decided to become an actress.

Polina's parents did not immediately accept their daughter's decision and tried several times to dissuade her from this decision. But, after passing the last final exams, Polina Syrkina submitted documents to the Minsk Institute of Culture. The actress completed her studies in 2008.

THEATER

According to Polina, she came into the acting profession out of a desire to play on stage. In her native Minsk, the actress collaborated with several theaters at once. At the Film Actor Studio Theatre, she played Dasha in the production of “A Very Simple Story” and Clementine in “...Forget Herostart!” At the Belarusian Army Theater with her participation the performances “Privates” and “Don’t Leave Me” were staged. And on the stage of the Contemporary Art Theater, Polina was involved in the productions “Eldest Son” and “Minsk, I Love You.”

Now the actress lives in Moscow and does not play in the theater. But she admits that she would really like to return to the stage. “In the theater there is an energy exchange with the audience. People sitting in the hall sometimes fill you up more than you give. This is not the case in cinema; you work with the camera. And you give and give all the time...” says Polina.

MOVIE

Polina Syrkina’s film debut took place in 2007, when she played the main role in the film “The General’s Daughter” by Dmitry Orlov, whom she still considers her teacher and chief director. The actress recalls her work in the film: “This is my first film. When creating it, it seemed to me that we were doing a great thing. But in the end everything turned out much more prosaic - I didn’t like it. Although in reality the film is not bad. Only I expected more...”

In 2008-2009 Polina starred in the films “Hipsters”, “Challenge-3”, “Detective Agency “Ivan and Marya”, “Invaders”. But the most striking work of this period is the role of Anna in the Belarusian film “Cadet”, for which the actress was awarded several awards at film festivals. “It was a very difficult job for me. I remember that all the time I was in incredible tension, aware of hyper-responsibility to my partner and the director. We shot on film, and I was constantly told that I only had one take. When filming ended, I breathed a sigh of relief,” says the actress.

A wide audience is familiar with the actress from TV series in which Polina plays bright and memorable roles. Usually her heroines are girls with a difficult fate, whose life often brings surprises. The actress’s images are so vivid and believable that the viewer begins to identify with her characters and, according to the laws of drama, empathize with them. TV viewers remember the actress’s work in the films “Navigator”, “One and Only and Forever”, “Payback for Love”, “Blind Happiness”, “Love in a Million”, “What Men Want”, “A View from Eternity” and many others.

"DOCTOR"

In 2014, Polina played the main role in the film “The Doctor.” The main character of the film is the girl Katya, who wants to devote her life to music. But all her dreams and aspirations collapse in one day, and Katya is left with nothing but a thirst for revenge. The actress says: “I agreed to the role immediately. I liked that, unlike my previous heroines, Katya Zakharova does not agree with the position of the victim, she has a core, willpower. In life, I am a soft person, quite vulnerable, and heroines like Katya educate me and organize me.”

"PEARL"

One of the actress’s latest works is her role in Sergei Krasnov’s multi-part film “Pearls.” The film tells the story of a girl, Zhenya, who sincerely believes that her family necklace protects her from all adversity. The actress’s partners in the film were Alexander Domogarov, Maria Kulikova, Artem Osipov and others. “Our film is a melodramatic and at the same time a detective story, I have the main role in it. My partner is the wonderful Alexander Domogarov, who turned out to be incredibly attentive and sensitive. And the wonderful director Seryozha Krasnov - young, passionate, proactive. It was a pleasure to work,” Polina recalls about her work.

PERSONAL LIFE

Polina was married to actor Konstantin Strelnikov, whom she met on the set of the film “At Noon on the Pier.” The couple lived together for several years, and soon the marriage broke up. Now the girl’s heart is free. According to Polina, she maintained a warm relationship with her ex-husband: “He will forever remain a dear person to me. This is not the case when people, having lived together for four years, then meet somewhere by chance and pretend that they do not know each other. “I respect Kostya very much, we are now like brother and sister, we worry about each other, help, share our news.”

At the same time, the marital relationship between the actors did not last long - four years after the wedding, Konstantin Strelnikov’s family broke up. Polina and Konstantin chose to remain friends. Currently there is only one artist.

The actor prefers to spend all his free time spearfishing, diving and fishing. He also likes to relax in the company of his friends, visiting local cafes, entertainment complexes, etc. From time to time he visits Moscow theaters, as he is interested in the work of his colleagues. The famous actor's favorite pastime is swimming with dolphins, whom he considers to be very kind and intelligent creatures.

On the Internet you can find photos of the actor in which he is captured in the company of his ex-wife. Photographs also often appear where the filmmaker appeared before the public in one or another stage image.

IN LIFE

Polina works a lot, and therefore in her free time she tries to relax as much as possible. “Sometimes I need to be alone with a book on the sofa - this is the best way to spend time. Sometimes communication is needed, and I start recruiting friends to go out somewhere. The change of activity is very relaxing. You need to do something not related to creativity - clean the house, do dull physical labor, go to the gym. This also helps to reboot the brain,” says Polina.

The actress loves to travel, but admits that the sea does not particularly attract her. Cultural holidays are closer to her, so she prefers to spend her holidays in Europe.

Personal life: starting a family and divorce

Polina already had a serious relationship in her personal life, however, this marriage quickly fell apart. She met her future husband, actor Konstantin Strelnikov, on the set of the film “At Noon on the Pier,” where they played a couple in love. The actors' romance developed rapidly, which is why they had absolutely no time to understand each other. After finishing work on the project, the lovers had a wedding, after which the girl took her husband’s surname. Having moved to Moscow, Strelnikova had to develop her career at a new level. It was during this time that her husband did a lot for her, working for some time as her director. Polina completely relied on her husband, who was ten years older than her. However, this marriage cracked, and in the summer of 2020 the couple separated. They seemed to everyone to be a harmonious and loving couple, so for many friends their divorce came as a complete surprise.

Now the actress continues to communicate with her ex-husband, maintaining an excellent relationship with him. Syrkina is not afraid of loneliness, so she will not marry without love in order to have children “for herself.” She is open to new relationships and will be glad if she happens to fall in love again. The actress’s brother has already started a family with four children growing up. Polina often communicates with her nephews, easily finding a common language with them.

On rest days, she allows herself to relax, sleep and lie down with a book on the sofa. The actress finds time to meet with friends, as well as to play sports. Fans always admire her femininity and charm, and also note her beautiful appearance and slender figure (with a height of 167 cm, her weight is 54 kg).

INTERVIEW

About criticism

“I will take into account any opinion. I take criticism hard. Another thing is that I learned to use it rationally and use it for good. But when they scold me, of course I get upset. Especially when loved ones scold you. Although I am my own harshest critic.”

About cinema

“The path to success is always a lot of work, time and a successful combination of many circumstances. In addition, cinema is a collective art. Here, all departments must work harmoniously, starting from the preparation process and ending with the release of the film. Well, the problem is lack of funds. The film industry is a purely commercial story. No money - “there will be no cinema.”

About family

“Family comes first for me. Of course, I love my job, but I have no illusions about my uniqueness and popularity. So family is the main thing!”

About love

“For me, love is when my man’s joy and his smile are more important than my own. I get pleasure from making someone feel comfortable. It is important for me to take care of someone, to invest in someone. But we are not bottomless; the vessel must be filled. If this doesn’t happen, at some point burnout sets in.”

About taboos in the profession

“I don’t agree to scenes of an erotic nature, and I no longer like playing openly negative roles. They destroy me, then I feel bad and get sick.”
