Anna Tsukanova-Kott took part in the Mobile Film Festival as a director and housewife

Biography

Anna Tsukanova was born into a creative family. Anya’s parents met as students at the same theater school, although dad was ten years younger than mom. Soon after moving to the capital, they separated. My father emigrated to the USA, where he organized his own restaurant business. The girl stayed to live with her mother in Moscow and studied at specialized theater school N123.

At the age of 7, little Anyuta made her debut as an actress. One of the founders of the film magazine “Yeralash,” Boris Grachevsky, invited her to try herself on the set. As a result, Anya took part in 17 humorous stories of this popular program. Also as a teenager, she was involved in the musical “Nord-Ost” on the stage of the Dubrovka Theater. She played the main character Katya Tatarinova as a child.

In 2005, Anna Tsukanova entered Galina Sazonova’s course at the Shchukin Theater Institute.

The actress recalls: “I graduated from school as an external student, and when I entered Pike, I was 15 years old. Then I thought that it would be very easy, it seemed to me that I would just approach the institute and they would immediately take me. (Laughs.) But suddenly I saw that besides me there are many talented people who are also fighting for their place and want to become actors. I probably realized this for the first time and was faced with tough competition, failure, not being hired, and real fear.

The “I’m not like everyone else” attitude was quickly knocked out of me at the Shchukin School (thanks to them), but still I tried for a long time to join the team. It seemed to me that I knew everything, that I entered because I had to. I didn’t expect that they could teach me anything else, I thought that I could do everything. As it turned out, not all..."

In parallel with her studies, the girl acted a lot in films. And as a thesis, she played in student productions of “The Kindergarten” and “Tomorrow There Was War.” With the second performance, the acting troupe toured with great success not only throughout Russia, but also showed their work in New York.

early years

Anna Tsukanova-Kott was born in June 1989 into a creative family. The girl’s mother and father graduated from the theater school where they met. Two years later, the family moved to the capital, but the relationship between Anna’s parents could not stand the move, and they divorced. Her dad emigrated to the United States of America, where he created his own restaurant business.

The girl stayed to live with her mother in the capital, where she studied at a specialized theater school. At the same time, at the age of seven, Anna Tsukanova-Kott made her debut as an actress. Boris Grachevsky invited her to try her hand at the film set.

As a result, Anna took part in seventeen humorous stories in this humorous program for children. Filming in “Jumble” marked the beginning of the girl’s creative career. Since that time, Tsukanova-Kott cannot see herself without theater and cinema.

Cinema

After filming Yeralash, the talented girl was invited to play in many feature films. Among the actress’s debut works, it is worth noting the role of Svetochka, which she played in the comedy series “33 Square Meters,” which tells about the everyday life of an ordinary Russian family. The themes for the plots are everyday situations, be it the arrival of relatives or a banal repair of a door lock.

Anya played her first leading role in the children's adventure film by Evgeniy Sokolov, “The Secret of the Blue Valley.” As a result of an accident, three teenagers - Artem, Vika (Anna Tsukanova) and Maxim - find themselves alone in the mysterious Blue Valley. They will experience a lot of adventures and meet modern Mowgli - the kind and naive Vava. They will save him from the Bigfoot hunters. Blue Valley will change teenagers and teach them mutual understanding.

Then there was the multi-part drama by Vladimir Basov Jr. “Clean Keys”, where Anyuta played a young witch. This is a story about a small village not marked on any map of the world. Getting here is very difficult; you can wait for months for the only regular bus. There is no television, no mobile communications. The inhabitants of this area, it would seem, are the most ordinary people. But this is at first glance.

The other two films brought popularity to the young actress - “Viola Tarakanova. In a world of criminal passions,” which was based on the ironic detective novels of Daria Dontsova, as well as a military drama about graduates of an artillery school during the Second World War, “Cadets.” For filming in the latest series, Anna Tsukanova won an award from the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia.

It is also worth highlighting Alexander Kott’s large-scale historical films dedicated to military themes, “Brest Fortress” and “The Third World War,” in which Tsukanova took part.

"Eighties"

The comedy sitcom “The Eighties” by Fyodor Stukov, which was released in 2011, brought enormous fame to the actress. Anna Tsukanova played the role of Katya Polyakova, a Komsomol student, lover of the main character Ivan Smirnov. “This role, along with filming in the Brest Fortress, showed that I have grown as an actress,” says Anya. Her partner was Alexander Yakin (Roma Bukin from the comedy “Happy Together”). The series became so successful that it was renewed for several more seasons.

The artist talks about her heroine: “In general, I have a sharp tongue, I like to make fun of everyone. But as soon as the camera turned on, I immediately became Katya’s sweetheart. She’s feminine, trusting, sees all the good in people and believes in a bright future, and I’m such a punk... (Smiles.) But what we have in common is that I’m also positive and homely, I love to cook and take care of people.”

Then the actress’s filmography was supplemented by such projects as: “A Short Course in a Happy Life” from the director of the acclaimed “School” Valeria Gai Germanika, the lyrical comedy “Klushi” by Alexander Kott, the urban fantasy “Dark World: Balance” by Oleg Asadulin, the melodramatic story “The Ideal Man” , as well as a modern interpretation of the Russian folk tale “The Frog Princess” by Ivan Merezhko.

In 2015, Anna starred in the autobiographical series “The Red Queen” directed by Alena Semenova, which tells the story of love and the tragic fate of the first beauty of the Soviet Union, fashion model Regina Zbarskaya. Anya got one of the most significant supporting roles - Sveta, the friend of the main character.

In 2020, Russian viewers saw Tsukanova-Kott in the dramatic thriller by Lika Alekseeva “Parallel Lines Intersect at Infinity,” where she played one of the main roles - the girl doctor Sasha. In the fall of 2016, Ara Hovhannisyan’s comedy “Take the Blow, Baby” was released with Anna’s participation.

Among the actress’s latest works are roles in the military drama “Commissar”, the historical film “Mata Hari”, the crime film “Excellence”, the detective story “Mermaids”, and the TV series “Major-3”.

In various films, Anna may appear in the credits both under her surname Tsukanova and under the surname of her husband Kott, and recently appears as Anna Tsukanova-Kott.

Director

The talented actress also tries herself in directing. She has already produced several short films. “By the way, I also decided to try my hand at directing. I have many director friends, I am often around them and watch their work. Recently I shot my first and very exciting short film “Erotic Thriller”. I think it turned out interesting, my friends approved,” Anya shared.

And Anna Tsukanova-Kott’s short film “Hysterical” became the best experimental film at the International Women’s Film Festival Women Media Arts and Film Festival (Sydney, 2020).

Anna Tsukanova Cott today

The “Kinoeda” project became the “brainchild” of Anna Tsukanova Kott in a professional environment. The company delivers food to film sets. This start-up was created under a fruitful alliance with Konstantin Kryukov, Vladimir Yaglych and Marina Alexandrova. Later, she took up another project, “Eat Art.”

On Instagram, Anna Tsukanova Kott posts videos presenting interesting recipes for preparing unusual dishes. The first video about banana pancakes received a huge number of views. In 2020 A daughter, Leia, was born into the family of Anna Tsukanova Kott and her husband.

Projects

In 2020, Anna Tsukanova, who knows firsthand about the difficulties with proper nutrition during an actor’s workday, launched the “Kinoeda” project - the delivery of individual hot meals to film sets.

“We always had difficulties with food on set. The food arrived in plastic and was cold. Since I was filming all the time, I always ate this food. And I didn’t understand why no one wanted to change the situation. Then I myself came up with what the lunch should look like so that people would like it,” said Tsukanova-Kott.

Soon another interesting project was added to “Kinoed” - the video blog “Eat Art”. On her Instagram, the actress posts short videos with “art recipes” for delicious dishes in a very original presentation.

Anna Tsukanova-Kott took part in the Mobile Film Festival as a director and housewife

On April 12, the winners of the competition will be announced, but you can view the entire shortlist online, as well as educational materials from mobile film professionals. According to the organizers, this year it has become especially important not to give in to the pressure of circumstances, to hold a full-fledged festival for the Russian audience and thus support the authors who recently sent their works to the competition, and now, like all of us, are locked at home. Amateur films shot on a smartphone now look new. Even the most modest work is perceived as an immersion in an ideal world, and communication with loved ones, travel, walks around the city seem like a luxury.

The program presents fiction and documentary films, sometimes very small, the duration of which is 1-2 minutes. For some, this is enough. There are 15-minute jobs, both very modest and highly professional. In total, the competition received more than 150 applications from 40 countries. Among the best were films from Russia, the USA, Lebanon, Ukraine, Israel, Mexico, Belgium, South Korea, Great Britain and Iraq.

The 15-minute documentary film “Quadrille” by Ivan Petrov is from the category of social cinema. Its main character, despite cerebral palsy, works with children in a children's institution, where he himself was once a pupil. He organizes parties, acts as a clown, prepares modest gifts for the children and dreams of his own children and a life partner with whom he could work together.

In the one-minute horror film "Dark Passage" by Roshni Bathia from the United States, passengers disappear somewhere from the back seat of a car. You can guess what is happening to them if you have a rich imagination. In the Ukrainian “minute” What is the True Beauty? Maria Yevtushenko organizes a fashion show at an abandoned factory. The industrial landscape resembles the Stalker zone, and the live models are like mannequins.

Actress Anna Tsukanova-Kott presented her directorial experience (she had already directed short films before) - the pop art video “Eat Art”. She combines her main profession with catering on film sets and knows its specifics well. And there’s an excellent expert nearby – husband and director Alexander Kott. In her frankly designer and bright film, she played the role of a cheerful housewife who, perhaps, cooked cabbage soup from an ax. Flaxseed porridge, cashews, oatmeal, tape, and flowers are used. She lays out blueberry beads, fries a LEGO piece in a frying pan like scrambled eggs, and is ready to eat a man’s head.

All presented works were shot in horizontal format. The age of vertical cinema is just beginning in our country. Timur Bekmambetov is already working on the film “Fau. Escape from Hell”, which you can watch without turning over your mobile phone. Since the main thing in his picture is a man who accomplished a feat during the war, a portrait is the optimal format. And it assumes verticality. Filmmakers from the USA, Italy and other countries are already working in this direction. But for the mobile film festival, it seems that this time has not yet come.

Personal life

Anya met her common-law husband, film director Alexander Kott, who is 16 years older than her, back in school. It was he who filmed the very first episode of “Jumble” in her career. Later they crossed paths on the set of different films.

“When I graduated from school and realized that I needed to enter a theater institute, I decided to consult with him, my first director. “I wanted him to tell me what I needed to do to get admitted,” Anna admits. – But the relationship between us began when I became an adult. I moved to live with him, got pregnant... Since then we have not parted. In our family it is still believed that I have not matured. And I think it’s he who hasn’t matured.”

In 2008, the actress and director had a son, Mikhail.

When the future star of Russian cinema was 7 years old, she became friends with film director Alexander Kott, who later became her husband. In the biography of Anna Tsukanova, this man played one of the main roles. For many years he had been a sincere friend to her, an older brother whom she could trust. At the age of 15, Anna consulted with him about entering school and what exams she needed to take. At that moment, on the threshold of growing up, Anya realized that her feelings for Alexander were quite deep.

The director was born in 1973. in Moscow in the family of a teacher and a builder. From his youth he was interested in photography. The starting point into the world of cinema was the graduation film project “Scarecrow”, filmed in 2000. The film without words was a stunning success. Tsukanova's husband is adored by actors. The film director films Igor Ugolnikov, Pavel Derevyanko, Andrei Merzlikin, and Yulia Peresild.

At that moment, Anna Tsukanova-Kott and her husband were friends. The couple began living together in 2005. They played a wedding. The age difference is not a hindrance for two people who love and understand each other. For the cinematic environment, this is quite normal, according to the actress. In this marriage a son, Mikhail, was born. Anya gave birth to him at the age of 19, and became a caring mother from the first minutes of her first-born’s life.

On the Internet you can find a photo of Anna Tsukanova-Kott’s husband, where he is captured with his beloved family. They live in the center of the capital, enjoying family happiness. Alexander graduated from VGIK, studied under Vladimir Khotinenko, and successfully made many films. Among the masterpieces of his diverse collection are “Two Drivers Were Driving,” “Brest Fortress,” and “Decoy.”

Interview

About the profession:

“I guess I’m a born actress. (Smiles.) I was very lucky: I found my path as a child. Many of my peers still cannot understand what to do, what to devote their lives to. And I realized this when I was seven years old.”

“...the profession of an actor is so multifaceted that you can endlessly study everything around: yourself, people, science. You can try yourself in different professions.”

About filming:

“I’d rather star in a short film with a story that I like than for big money in something I’m not passionate about.”

“When they offer me to take my husband’s role in a film, he is always against it. Believe it or not, but, for example, I got onto the set of “Brest Fortress” on a general basis, having passed the casting. My husband didn’t know until recently that I got the role.”

Alexander Kott about the age difference with his wife:

“Before there was a misunderstanding. As they say, a clash of generations. Even in small things we like things that are different. For example, I love borscht, Anya loves spinach soup. I hum Vizborov’s lines, and Anna has her own idols – Leonid Agutin, Volodya Kristovsky.”

However, according to Anna, when she comes to the premiere of her husband’s film, she hears in the characters’ remarks the phrases that they say to each other at home, recognizes some thoughts, in a word, feels her presence in the films of her loved one.

About parents:

“...for many of my friends, parents are some kind of obstacle in many things. And I and my people look in the same direction. My mother is also an actress, she periodically acts in films. And when the time came for me to apply, I already had more than twenty films to my credit. It was clear that I had only one path. My parents supported me and helped me as best they could. In general, I am very lucky with them, they are always on my side. I have a mother and two fathers. My relative has been living in America for a long time, I visit him often. The second is Mikhail Gorevoy, he and his son Mitya are my newfound family. By and large, Mikhail raised me and put a lot of effort into developing my personality.”

About Me:

“Yes, I’m a terrible hooligan, you won’t get bored with me! This makes my friends very happy; they never know what to expect from me next minute. It's cool".

“They recently said about me: “You are a girl with no brakes.” And not even with a rod, but with a crowbar inside.” (Smiles.)

About the meaning of life:

“It’s important to move forward and learn something new. It’s wonderful to have someone close to you who loves you and understands you. It's good when everything goes well at work. I love my profession very much: I play in the theater, act in films, sing, write poetry. I believe in sincerity and honesty. Perhaps not everything in life turns out the way you would like, but you need to strive for your goal. And enjoy every minute!”
