Her partner on the set was Murilo Benicio. The actors' romance quickly went beyond the screen: they began dating in real life. In 2005, they had a son, but the couple separated due to Murilo's constant jealousy. Since 2010, Giovanna has been living with Leonardo Nogueira, with whom she is raising seven-year-old Antonio and Sofia.
