Kozhevnikov Alexander Viktorovich, hockey player: biography, family, sporting achievements

The Soviet Union was a very sporting country and always strived to be first in all sports. Hockey was no exception. A country with a population of almost 300 million people gave the world new stars every year. And even the collapse of the USSR had no effect on the skill of these wonderful people. Hockey players who played in the 80s continued to maintain the quality of Russian hockey even in the most difficult years for the country. One of these wonderful players was Alexander Viktorovich Kozhevnikov.

Children's and youth career

Kozhevnikov (hockey player) showed his first glimpses of talent at the Penza championship. The young player scored 5 goals. Such high performance attracted the attention of the youth sports school coach Vasily Ivanovich Yadrintsev. After the championship, he invited Kozhevnikov to train at his place.

A serious passion for hockey pleased Alexander’s parents, because the boy had no time left for hooliganism. Even then, Alexander’s complex character began to emerge.

Alexander Viktorovich Kozhevnikov

The eight-hour training did not go unnoticed. At the age of 14, Sasha received a call to the USSR youth team. This is how Alexander Kozhevnikov began his professional career. The hockey player is growing up, and a new stage of his life is starting.

"Dieselist"

In 1964, a new team began to play in the USSR championship. It was "Dieselist" (Penza). The Penza team mainly consisted of local players. In 1975, coach Alexander Vautin took a liking to a young and promising hockey player from the Youth Sports School - Kozhevnikov. Sasha accepts the invitation to the club. While playing for the adult team, Alexander Kozhevnikov began to turn into a professional. His biography in 1977, thanks to perseverance and skill, was replenished with a new entry: he became the European champion as a member of the USSR youth team.

Fateful meeting

The hardworking boy trained eight hours a day, and it was more than rewarded. At the age of 14, he was included in the youth team of the Soviet Union, and from that moment his professional career could begin. The first club contract did not take long to arrive, and in 1975 Alexander joined the ranks of Dieselist.

As hockey player Alexander Kozhevnikov himself recalls, his parents were not against his activities; on the contrary, they supported the young talent in every possible way and were happy, because he trained several times a day, so there was no time left for nonsense. Of course, sometimes there were troubles, but, basically, our hero tried to put all his energy into training.

"Spartak Moscow)

In 1977, the head coach of Dizelist, Alexander Vautin, moved to Spartak Moscow. He brings his Penza players to the team: Alexander Kozhevnikov and Alexander Gerasimov. Life in a big city seemed very difficult to Penza residents. The guys who grew up in small Penza could not come to terms with the noise and bustle of Moscow. The hockey players' patience came to an end, and they fled home to Penza. After much persuasion, Kozhevnikov returned to Spartak, but Gerasimov remained in his hometown.

On October 2, 1977, Kozhevnikov’s first match took place as part of the Moscow Spartak. It became the young athlete’s first in the USSR Championship. And a few weeks later the Moscow derby “Spartak” - “Dynamo” took place. In that match, Alexander Viktorovich Kozhevnikov scores his first professional goal.

The year 1979 was remembered by fans of Spartak Moscow for the change of coach. Boris Pavlovich Kulagin became the new coach of the team. Before Kulagin, Kozhevnikov believed that his career was generally going well. He regularly played for Spartak and was a member of the USSR national team. They wrote about him in the newspapers, and his name was known to many.

Kulagin, having joined the team, began preventive work. It was Alexander Kozhevnikov’s turn. The new coach threatened the young hockey player that he would kick him out. And he advised me to take my training and regimen more seriously. Since then, as Kozhevnikov himself noted, he has become more disciplined and serious. Alexander began to strictly follow Kulagin's instructions and began to realize his potential to a greater extent.

Kozhevnikov Alexey Alexandrovich

Born on January 28, 1933 in Leningrad.
He began acting in films while still a student at the Leningrad Military Mechanical Institute (graduated in 1957). He appeared on the screen in the role of Valya Solntsev in the film “First Echelon”. Working as a design engineer at one of the Leningrad factories, Kozhevnikov starred in the films “On the Far Island,” “They Met on the Way,” and “The Tale of the Newlyweds.” The role of Vitya Gromoboev in “The Unyielding” became a “lucky ticket” to the cinema: Alexey Kozhevnikov leaves the factory and becomes a full-time actor at the Lenfilm film studio. Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1980).

His last work was a role in the musical comedy “Jack Vosmerkin - American,” which was released after his death.

He passed away in Leningrad on September 6, 1986. The actor was buried at the Bolsheokhtinsky cemetery.

Debut for the USSR national team

After working with Alexander for a year, Boris Pavlovich advised Viktor Vasilyevich Tikhonov, the coach of the first team, to call Kozhevnikov to the national team’s training camp. Tikhonov listened and called Kozhevnikov to the team.

Alexander Kozhevnikov managed to score 43 goals in the 1981-1982 season. This was one of the best results of the Union. And Tikhonov, without hesitation, took Kozhevnikov to the World Championships in Finland. Alexander, in gratitude to the coach, hit the opponents' goal 6 times during the tournament. The USSR national team then became a deserved world champion.

Two years later, the Winter Olympic Games were held in Yugoslavia. The USSR national team played confidently throughout the tournament and met the Czechoslovakian national team in the final. The match ended with a score of 2:0 in favor of the Soviet Union, and the decisive goal was scored by Spartak's Alexander Kozhevnikov. The hockey player brought Olympic gold to the Soviet team.

Alexander Kozhevnikov lived in Sweden on 44 rubles a month

One of the country's best hockey scorers was not taken to the World Cup

He had his teeth treated by Rene FASEL, the president of the International Hockey Federation. He underwent nine operations during his sports career, but this did not stop him from becoming a world champion and two-time Olympic champion. Today Alexander KOZHEVNIKOV is a member of the board of the Night Hockey League and a well-known television expert. He is also the father of the “Univer” star and the pipetska deputy Maria KOZHEVNIKOVA.

— Alexander Viktorovich, your daughter Maria is an actress, State Duma deputy. Does she still listen to her father's advice? Are you trying to protect her from something? - I don’t impose anything. Masha is already an adult, a mother of two children. She is 30 years old. It is by this time that a person usually realizes what is important in life. She has a strong character. She helps a lot of people. I'm glad I have such a daughter. — Have you ever had any major quarrels with Masha? — At some point I separated from my wife, Rita. And he went to America for six years and created a hockey school in Los Angeles. But I missed my son and daughter very much. I called many times, but Masha did not answer the phone, she was offended. We haven't seen each other for a long time. But when I returned to Moscow, we kissed. I was moved to tears. And gradually everything got better.

KOZHEVNIKOV was called to CSKA more than once, but he remained faithful to Boris KULAGIN

— How did you feel about Maria going into politics? — I said: Mashenka, politics is a dirty business, it will be difficult for you to combine cinema and work in the State Duma. But the daughter decided in her own way. And one tragic story pushed her to take such a step. We had a friend - Misha Mikheev, the son of famous athletes. He worked as a police investigator. When Misha was crossing the road, he was hit and killed by a car. A stoned driver was behind the wheel and was definitely facing jail time. But the guy turned out to have influential parents, and the matter was hushed up. Money is everything! My son calmly went to England and spent time there. This story greatly angered my daughter. Now, having become a deputy, she is trying to restore justice. — Your daughter is often attacked in the press by Ksenia Sobchak. - Attacked. I answered once - and Sobchak stopped pestering Masha. Ksenia is a peculiar person, she loves to be shocking. I don't see the point in arguing with her.

Alexander Viktorovich showed his grandson Vanechka women's hockey

— How is your relationship with your son-in-law, businessman Evgeny Vasiliev?

— He walks toe to toe with me (laughs). Just kidding, of course. He and I are friends. Zhenya is a specialist in the field of IT technologies and real estate. Honest man. The main thing is that my daughter likes him! We go to his place in Zavidovo and catch fish. When I was young, I fished on both the Ob and the Irtysh. I like to sit with a fishing rod. — Do you often see your grandchildren? - Masha says that I could visit them more often. Vanya is one year older than Maxim. Vanechka ran away from me for six months. Probably he was afraid. We're all good now. Once they took him to women's hockey. He like it very much. Now he runs around the house with a stick. If he wants to become a hockey player, we will help him. And Vanya, by the way, was baptized by Vyacheslav Fetisov. We are friends with him. — What can you say about the film “Glory” about Fetisov? — I liked the film. There is a lot of life truth there. Someone says that Viktor Tikhonov in the film is not like that. But how many people know the real Tikhonov? He allowed few people into his inner world.

Maria KOZHEVNIKOVA with her son

Octopus and blat

— Let's talk about hockey now. Is a 1:6 score in the World Cup final with Canada really the level of the Russian national team? - Yes, at the moment this is our level. It should be taken into account that the Canadian team included only four Olympic champions from Sochi; players whose clubs did not qualify for the Stanley Cup played for it. This is 17th place and below. Nevertheless, they tore everyone apart. But the Russian national team cannot recruit eight decent defenders from the KHL! Don't forget that we also received serious slaps in the last two Olympics. So stop resting on your laurels, it’s time to get involved in youth hockey.

— Is it true that corruption flourishes there? - Yes its true. A real octopus. Five years ago, Fetisov held a meeting on this issue, and parents were invited. They told how everything happens. Some parents pay for their son to make the team, others pay for their boyfriend to play on the first line. And those who don’t pay are also intimidated! The trouble is that even children know about it! From the Russian Hockey Federation, only Igor Tuzik and Boris Mayorov came to the meeting. We listened and quickly moved the conversation to another plane.

KOZHEVNIKOV managed to establish good relations with his daughter and ex-wife Margarita

— Is Federation President Vladislav Tretyak aware of this problem? - I think yes. The entire hockey world knows. But it seems to me that the federation does not want to do this. Hockey itself is an expensive sport, but here they force you to pay extra. Those who don't have extra money quit hockey. That's what's sad. - What to do? How to fight? “But it’s useless to fight.” I tried when I worked at Moskomsport, but it’s impossible to break this system alone. At least they didn’t give it to me. Some time ago, the Russian youth team had the same problem - people were recruited there through connections, at the request of agents or very wealthy parents. And the team suffered sensitive defeats. Now, under Valery Bragin, everything has changed - the outrages have stopped. — In your youth, you were a player for Spartak and Krylia Sovetov. Were you invited to CSKA, the strongest team in the USSR? - Yes, but I refused. I couldn't betray coach Boris Kulagin . He helped me a lot in life, he made me a hockey player. Leaving Boris Pavlovich seemed to me the height of ingratitude. — Viktor Tikhonov, having received a refusal, was offended by you? - He didn’t invite himself. Through an assistant. I remember I became one of the best scorers of the season, but I was not invited to the national team for the World Cup. Viktor Vasilyevich told Kulagin that I was too tired during the season, I didn’t have enough strength. But Tikhonov took me to two Olympics, in Sarajevo and Calgary. Although both times, shortly before the Games, I was in the hospital with injuries. — Let's return to the World Championships in the Czech Republic. Were you surprised that the Russian national hockey players left the awards ceremony and did not listen to the Canadian anthem? - What are they, boys? Don't know the regulations? It was necessary to kick the players out of the locker room and return them to the ice. It's an ugly act. When our guys became world champions in Quebec in 2008, the Canadians stayed for the award ceremony. Although they lost at home. The fact that someone opened the gate during the award ceremony in Prague is a ridiculous excuse.

As a child, Masha rarely saw her dad - hockey players often sat at training camps

— When you tried to go abroad, were you, like Fetisov, faced with various obstacles?
— I was drafted by the NHL club Calgary Flames. But instead of me, another Krylia Sovetov hockey player, Sergei Pryakhin, went there. Under my regalia, as a two-time Olympic champion. They explained to me: don’t be angry, this is how it should be. There was no Internet back then, and Canadians didn’t check anything. What difference does it make to them - Pryakhin or Kozhevnikov? By the way, Seryoga played well. He was the first of our hockey players to win the Stanley Cup. - Aren’t you offended? - That's something else. I wanted to stay in England, they offered me a good contract. But our Hockey Federation said: the British are not calling about you. I dial the number myself. I hear on the phone: “Sasha, we just called your federation! We were told that you have already signed a contract with another team, so you are not going to London.” But I didn’t sign anything with anyone! - How so? “The officials took it out on me, punished me for my long tongue. Before that, I played for the Swedish club AIK and caused a scandal. I had a contract for 100 thousand dollars. But only 10 percent of this amount went to me personally, the rest was taken by the state. In Stockholm I received crumbs - 44 foreign currency rubles. And unemployment benefits in Sweden are 800 rubles with our money. It was a shame, I have two children. So I couldn’t restrain myself and became rude. — If I’m not mistaken, our athletes could not receive a higher salary than the Soviet ambassador abroad. - That's it! True, the ambassador in Sweden helped me. They had their own store at the embassy, where prices were set much lower than in other stores in Stockholm. I bought caviar, wine, vodka there, and in Moscow I sold and resold at a premium. Many athletes did this at that time; they were simply embarrassed to talk about it. — Where did you meet Rene Fasel? - In Switzerland. He worked as a dentist then, and I played hockey there. Fasel had his own dental office in Friborg. He put good fillings and they lasted a long time. Fasel treated the teeth of both Vyacheslav Bykov and Andrey Khomutov. — St. Petersburg SKA coach Igor Zakharkin once said that he would not shake hands with you. And you to him? - If he doesn’t want to, why should I? Almost all coaches have a negative attitude towards Zakharkin. He considers himself great. Apparently, there was no hockey in Russia before him. Igor was offended by my criticism. I said that he and Bykov set our hockey back five years. I'll explain why. When Bykov and Zakharkin coached the Russian national team, they took 28-29-year-old players to the team for Eurotour matches. The Swedes, Finns, and Czechs were training young people, thinking about the future, but these two just wanted to make money. The Eurotour is a commercial tournament, with bonuses awarded for victories. So Bykov and Zakharkin worked for their own pockets and for their image. They beat those who were weaker. And what do we have now? Canada, if it wants, can assemble three teams - and all will be strong, but we can hardly scrape together one. And there was another case * Once Alexander Kozhevnikov broke the regime by drinking champagne two hours before the match. He was accompanied by two more Spartak hockey players. After the game, coach Boris Kulagin smelled the smell of alcohol and fined the two violators a tidy sum. But he didn’t touch Kozhevnikov - even in this state he scored two goals.

“Wings of the Soviets” and end of career

In 1986, Boris Aleksandrovich Mayorov headed Spartak Moscow. The emotional Kozhevnikov, who could also decide for himself whether to train or go for a walk, gave Mayorov mixed feelings. The coach and the hockey player could not work well together, and Kozhevnikov had to leave for Krylya Sovetov.

In 1988, Alexander Kozhevnikov, a hockey player for Krylya Sovetov, became an Olympic champion for the second time.

In the 1989-1990 season, at the dawn of perestroika, Kozhevnikov changed the club again. The Swedish “AIK” becomes the new refuge of the famous hockey player. After playing 16 matches and gaining 14 points, he left for Britain in the middle of the season. There he plays for the Durham Wasps hockey club. However, Alexander Viktorovich could not stay abroad for long and in 1991 he returned to his former team. For Krylya Sovetov in the 1990-1991 season, Alexander Kozhevnikov played 4 matches and retired.

Childhood and youth

Sergei Vitalievich was born into an intelligent Moscow family on August 15, 1963. My mother ran a kindergarten, and my father worked in government agencies. The boy attended a prestigious school with an artistic focus. He was interested in a wide range of subjects, but the child showed the greatest ability in drawing, so at the age of 16 he became a student at the Moscow Academic Art School in memory of 1905.

After graduating from the institution in 1983, Sergei went to repay his debt to his homeland in the air defense forces, where he served for 2 years. Even here he did not give up drawing, doing design work. Kozhevnikov received his higher education at Stroganov University, where by 1990 he trained as a restoration master.

For some time, the man painted pictures, participated in exhibitions and even joined the ranks of the Moscow Union of Artists. However, his entrepreneurial spirit did not allow him to sit still and encouraged him to start his own ambitious project.

Return to sports

In 1995, “Wings” experienced difficult times. The team did not have enough players to participate in the International Hockey League championship. And the management invited the veteran Kozhevnikov to take to the ice again. In the 1995-1996 season, Alexander Viktorovich played 23 matches and scored 8 goals and 12 assists. The 1996-1997 season ended with 12 matches and 9 points using the goal + pass system. The 1996-1997 season was the last in the career of the great Soviet-Russian hockey player Alexander Viktorovich Kozhevnikov. This is how the professional career of your favorite athlete ends.

Personal life and life after career

The personal life of Alexander Kozhevnikov was not rich in bright events. The hockey player devoted all his time to training and competitions. In 1984, Alexander Kozhevnikov’s wife Margarita gave birth to a daughter, Maria. When she was still little, Alexander left the family. Maria Kozhevnikova became a famous actress. The athlete also has a son, Andrei.

Today Alexander Kozhevnikov is a sports expert and television commentator. Even after finishing his career, he does not say goodbye to what he loves. Alexander is devoted to him. Sport and Kozhevnikov are a single whole. It is difficult to imagine Soviet and Russian hockey without him. And today, matches with his commentary are a pleasure to watch, as his presence gives the game a lively and dynamic spirit.
