Biography

Alexander Baluev was born into a military family. The Baluevs lived on Kotelnicheskaya Embankment, then moved to Smolenka. Alexander's father was very strict and disciplined, demanding unquestioning submission and obedience from family members. He had high hopes for his son, dreaming that he would choose a career as an officer.

And my mother loved the theater very much, and often went to performances with her son. Then Alexander realized that he wanted to be involved in this mysterious, bright and extraordinary life. After finishing school, Baluev applied to the Shchukin School, but failed the exams. Then he got a job as a lighting assistant at Mosfilm. Alexander was confident in his abilities and a year later became a student at the Moscow Art Theater School. He studied very well and established himself well among teachers, and after graduation he easily found work in the theater.

His private life was previously connected with the popular Polish journalist Maria Urbanowska. The lovers lived together for about ten years. In 1986, the actor went to work at the Moscow Ermolova Theater, where he performed leading roles in such performances as “The Second Year of Freedom,” “Snow, Near the Prison,” and “Caligula.” It was after these works that he became known in theater circles as a talented and multifaceted artist.

Over time, when Baluev began to act a lot in films, he went into enterprise. According to him, cooperation with only one theater and director enslaves the artist, limiting his freedom of activity, which negatively affects the development of talent. Therefore, the enterprise became an ideal solution, so he got the opportunity to play in theatrical productions and act in big films.

Movie

Great success in cinema came to Alexander Baluev in the nineties. Thanks to his courageous and bright appearance, as well as his unique charisma, he became known to a wide range of viewers from popular films, the most famous of which was the film “Bless the Woman” directed by Stanislav Govorukhin. The film takes place in a small seaside village in the pre-war years. A very young girl, Vera, falls madly in love with a visiting military man, the commander of the Red Army. She is not yet eighteen, and he is already over thirty. He already had a wife, whom he divorced just as clearly and quickly, military style, as he proposed to Verochka. She goes with him to his place of duty. Through the hardships of army life and the hard times of war, she carries her feelings towards her middle-aged husband, giving herself completely. Having played a despotic, sometimes cruel officer, Baluev, nevertheless, received popular recognition.

The film “Kandahar” brought Alexander no less fame. Spectacular action film directed by Andrei Kavun, based on real events that occurred in Afghanistan in 1995. The Russian IL-76 aircraft, carrying a crew of five people, is carrying out a dangerous mission, transporting a fair amount of illegal ammunition under the guise of humanitarian aid. By order of Islamist fanatics, the plane is forced to make an immediate landing at the airfield of the Afghan city of Kandahar. For 378 endless days, five Russian pilots are captured by the Taliban, not knowing when this hell will finally end. The crew, led by the hero Baluev, makes the only possible decision that will save their honor and life - to hijack their own plane.

In the film “In August 1944,” Alexander Baluev appears only in the climax scene, almost at the end of the film, and plays a resident of fascist intelligence, the traitor Mishchenko. Baluev’s role is short, just a few minutes, but he played it, as always, very brightly and expressively. Although, according to the actor, he was not allowed to fully reveal the character of his hero.

In the first film adaptation of Vasily Grossman's novel Life and Fate, Alexander Baluev played political worker Nikolai Krymov, a man who suffered difficult trials.

Another great success of Baluev can be called the role of Peter the Great in the film based on the novel by Daniil Granin “Evenings with Peter the Great.” This is a story about a great reformer, but a lonely and sick man.

Personal life

This is her sweat, blood and tears. Of course, we discussed everything together, but my voice is only advisory. Later the house was expanded. As a result, it has doubled in size and now has more than 300 square meters. I hope our house will last us a long time. The rare journalists who were lucky enough to visit the Baluevs described how lovingly their nest and the surrounding area were furnished. For example, the paths were framed with neat logs - recesses were hollowed out in them and flowers were planted. Or a tub in the living room, adapted for a flowerpot. Apparently, the owners have golden hands. But it turned out that Maria knew how to embroider, knit openwork tablecloths, and work with a drill. Alexander was proud of his wife.

Photos of the “hacienda” were published in glossy magazines: a beautiful wooden mansion was buried in greenery and flowers on a small but carefully thought-out plot. The garden was divided into two zones: the front zone - with flower beds from the front of the house (as is customary in Poland) and the master zone (behind) - for family relaxation.

— What I really like about the Poles is their attitude towards their own land. How lovingly they look after their gardens, how they know how to organize in the house that bourgeois - in the good sense of the word - way of life, which gives a person a real sense of security and peace, Baluev shared with the journalist. Did the artist really decide to exchange peace and security for something other? Maybe there is already a new mistress in his house? We decided to check it out.

On rare weekends, Alexander likes to walk around the village. He will go to one shop, then to another. The villagers treat their star neighbor with reverence.

“Alexander Nikolaevich is so gorgeous and sexy,” the store saleswoman, Taisiya, rolled her eyes. “All our women sigh for him.” Two years ago, when Zhukov was shown, the whole village was on edge. Baluev played Marshal of Victory himself! We often saw him in shorts, riding his bike through the forest. He saw me upset. “Don’t worry, Tasya,” he says, “we’ll fix everything now.” Indeed, he conjured some magic on the lock, tugged something there, closed the door and pulled out the key. And then he gave me a lift home! Lately, the actor has been visiting the village on short visits. In the summer, you need to have time to relax in warmer climes, visit your daughter in Warsaw, and also filming, tours, film festivals...

When we arrived at the star’s site, there were no signs of life behind the solid fence, but the neighbors said that Alexander was now at home. Unfortunately, the actor refused to communicate with us, saying he was very busy.

I had to ask local residents about Baluev’s relationship with his ex-wife. It turned out that she had not been seen in these parts for two years. The other day, Alexander visited two film forums at once: at the Orlyonok children's camp and in Vladivostok.
