Nikita learned about his illness on TV. “We didn’t tell him for a long time what he was sick with, we said that a mutation had occurred, but when they filmed a report about us, Nikita saw it and found a description of his diagnosis on the Internet,” says the boy’s mother, Elena.

Nikita believes in his recovery, and therefore wants to become a pediatric oncologist. “Don’t worry, mom, we’ll get better,” he gently reassures mom.
