Young figure skater: the childhood of athlete Alexander Zhulin
Sasha Zhulin grew up in a family where an atmosphere of tenderness and love reigned.
When the boy was five years old, his grandmother took him to the skating rink so that his beloved grandson could improve his health and develop well. Here, experienced trainers quickly drew attention to the little skater. The kid confidently stood on skates, jumped and easily slid across the ice, without missing training sessions. At the age of 9, the boy goes to practice figure skating in Moscow. Sasha begins training at the Young Pioneers stadium. Now it is a school for figure skaters - “Tchaikovsky’s Skate”. Later, Sasha Zhulin studies and trains at a sports boarding school, practicing single skating. He is trained by famous coaches: master of sports Anastasia Nikolaevna Kazakova, and later he trains with honored coach Natalya Dubova. Already in the fourth grade, Alexander Zhulin participates in sports competitions and major championships. Until the age of seventeen, Zhulin competes in figure skating as a single skater.
Biography: early years
Alexey Nikolaevich Ulanov was born on November 4, 1947 in Moscow.
As a child, he was torn between music and figure skating. Mom dreamed that her son would find himself in music, since almost everyone in her family played different instruments. Ulanov’s great-grandfather was a master of the button accordion, and his grandmother was a master of the accordion. Alexey also loved music and later mastered playing the button accordion. Figure skating came into his life when he was barely seven years old. It was then that Alexey’s parents took him to the Young Pioneers Stadium, located not far from their home. At first, Ulanov skated alone, but later he was paired with his own sister.
After school, Ulanov fulfilled his mother’s dream and entered the Gnessin School in the accordion department. However, he did not give up figure skating. After successfully graduating from music school, Alexey accepted an invitation to move to CSKA. This was a cunning move on his part, since playing for the army team was counted as military service. Alexei had just turned 18 years old.
Figure skater Alexander Zhulin in big sports
At the age of seventeen, young Zhulin leaves single skating and begins to engage in pair sports dancing. Maya Usova becomes his first partner. The couple demonstrates great success, skating at major all-Union and international competitions and quickly gaining leadership positions.
Figure skater Alexander Zhulin started his career small
For ten years, A. Zhulin and M. Usova have successfully held prizes in the top three sports medalists, withstanding competition among famous champions in pair figure skating: N. Annenko and G. Sretensky, O. Grischuk and E. Platova, M. Klimova and S. Ponomarenko, as well as the French Duchenne.
In 1994, at the Lilyhammer Olympics, figure skaters Zhulin and Usova won a silver medal, which became their main sporting achievement. After winning Lilyhammer, the skaters left the sport. From 1994 to 1998, Alexander Zhulin and Maya Usova participated in ice shows in Russia and America.
In the late nineties, Zhulin moved to a coaching position, taking part in staging sports and concert numbers for figure skaters. At this time, he trained figure skaters Tatyana Navka and Roman Kostomarov, and in 2006 he led them to victory at the Olympics in Turin. Here Zhulin's students successfully win a gold medal. Later, for three years, Alexander Zhulin trained and prepared for competitions the French figure skaters Nathalie Pechalat and Fabian Bourzu, who won the European Championship in 2011.
Zhulin prepared other equally famous skaters for the competition: A. Grebenkina and V. Azroyan, G. Khait and S. Sakhnovsky, N. Mikhailova and A. Sergeev, single skaters A. Abt and F. Suguri.

Pakhomova really liked figure skating. Alas, for a long time Lyudmila could not find herself in it. Neither in pairs nor in singles skating did the girl grab stars from the sky . The coaches called Pakhomova unpromising. Only one of them, Viktor Ryzhkin, believed in Lyudmila’s lucky star.
