Hoping to get a higher education, Allegrova submits documents to GITIS. Irina successfully passes 2 stages of selection, but failed to pass the 3rd round. After such a failure, she decides to find her place in Moscow. The artist works part-time as a private piano teacher and holds the position of accompanist at the capital’s choreography school. Here her talent does not remain in the shadows, and soon Irina is already working under the supervision of the famous Leonid Utesov.
In 1977, Allegrova became a member of the ensemble “Young Voices” and the following year at the Sochi music festival she became a laureate of the All-Union song competition. In 1979, the ensemble was divided into 2 separate groups; for 2 years Allegrova was a member of one of them, “Torch”. Igor Krutoy accompanied her here.
In 1982, Irina moved to the musical theater of Margarita Terekhova, but the following year she left the stage. She gets a job in hotels and works part-time in restaurants as a variety show actress. At the same time, the singer met the aspiring producer Dubovitsky. He noticed extraordinary talent in Irina and brought the future pop star to the famous composer Oscar Feltsman.
Having assessed Allegrova’s data, Feltsman took her into his ensemble “Moscow Lights” as a soloist. He also wrote the composition “Voice of a Child” especially for Irina. In the main program, Irina performs backing vocal parts, and performs solo during breaks.
