Victor Rybin: “Natasha and her friends were held captive, and I was thousands of kilometers away from her”

Interview with the musician and leader of the Dune group and his wife, singer Natalya Senchukova.

— Victor, exactly 25 years ago, in 1989, your song “Country of Limonia” hit the charts and was played throughout the country for a whole year. The text is simple, but so much drive! At the same time, the group you created, “Dune,” became very popular.

— “Country of Limonia” was a successful springboard. “Dune” took a strong position, and then “Sea of Beer” and “Communal Apartment” appeared. Adults, their children and even grandchildren still party to these songs at our concerts. We actually wrote something really cool. I remember how we were invited to the TV program “Sharks of the Feather”, and the journalists, wanting to tease us, called “Dune” a seasonal group, predicting a short creative life. I then said: “We have already immortalized ourselves. Believe me, in 20 years they will listen to us.” And he turned out to be right! “Dune” has become a locomotive that is still moving forward confidently and cannot be stopped. And Natasha and I have been growing creatively for three years now: we are conquering the charts with duet songs.

“Dune was clearly in the right place at the right time. In the 1990s, people wanted positive songs, and the bright, funny image you chose of merry people in panama hats brought smiles. Who came up with the idea of putting children's Panama hats on the heads of grown men?

— As Alena Apina sang, “I molded him from what was.” At that time, no one knew about the image. One of us caught the eye of Panama hats, we put them on, and the audience liked it. In general, we did everything on a whim. In “Dune” there wasn’t even a distribution of roles - you’re a vocalist, you’re a guitarist... The musicians got together and agreed: so, you’ll play this song on the keyboard, that one on the guitar, the three of us will sing the third.

The official year of birth of Dune is 1987. But in fact, Seryozha Katin and I created a group a little earlier - at a school in the city of Dolgoprudny - and played at evenings. Then for some time we looked for ourselves: I played in different musical groups, Seryozha - in Arsenal with Alexei Kozlov. It had already been decided that we would be professionals, but we didn’t really know how it was done. We decided to join the Moscow Regional Philharmonic, since there were no other ways to make money through music. They played rock and roll, and there was demand for such groups as “Black Coffee”, “Stayer”, “Aria”, “Master”. It was simply stupid to meddle in that genre. Against the backdrop of “Aria,” forgive me, we looked like an asshole choir... To play rock, you have to be different—tough, hairy. (Laughs.)

The pop-folk style turned out to be closer to us. But even with easy songs, not rebellious, not social, we were not accepted into the philharmonic. The Arts Council under the Ministry of Culture looked at the texts almost under a microscope and... refused. Once, twice... Before going to the exam for the third time, we asked Serezha’s mother (she was in charge of the culture department) to “include acquaintances.”

— And you began to perform in the same concerts with Pavel Smeyan and Alexander Serov. Did Dune feel like they were on an equal footing?

- No, what are you... Serov still packs stadiums, but in those years his popularity was generally phenomenal. We went to the so-called stock concerts and “warmed up” the audience before the performance of the same Serov, the group “Doctor Watson”, Smeyan. They gave us a salary, plus from each concert we earned 11 rubles 50 kopecks, and also travel allowances - two rubles a day. Plus they cheated a little.

We had several foreign acquaintances, usually students of the Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University. They brought guitars, keyboards, and strings from abroad. We then sold them for decent sums on tours around the country. Natasha also speculated once. (With a laugh.) I took guitar strings from Dima Chetvergov (guitar virtuoso - TN note) and sold them to Petrovich - Presnyakov Sr.

Natasha: At that time I was dancing in Shubarin’s ensemble - there were three performances a day. What I earned was enough for a rented apartment with my girlfriend and some food. If you wanted something new, you got a job as a backup dancer with her.

Victor:

Natasha came to Moscow from Stavropol after graduating from college and immediately ended up in the “Dancing Machine” with Shubarin. At that time it was as cool as if I sang in Deep Purple.

— Twenty-five years ago, backstage at the Olympic Stadium, you happened to be nearby, and a fateful acquaintance took place there. Remember how it was?

Natasha:

The girls and I were stretching before the performance. And then some funny weirdo came up to us...

Victor:

Natasha saw a clown in me, not a man...

Natasha:

He started asking something about our costumes and noticed that I was tall. Although he himself is not small either.

It is quite obvious that the person just wanted to chat. It never occurred to me that this was Viktor Rybin, the leader of a popular group. I knew their songs, they sounded everywhere, but I didn’t sit in front of the TV and didn’t remember the face of the lead singer. Then the performance of “Dune” was announced, Vitya ran onto the stage, and I heard the audience roar: “Oh-oh-oh!” The song started playing, and only then did it dawn on me who it was.

This is interesting: How many children does Bezrukov have?

The concerts went on for four days in a row, Vitya and I constantly crossed paths. He came up to chat, sometimes offering candy or chewing gum. On the last day, turning to my friend and I, he asked for a phone number. That’s why I didn’t understand who he liked at all - me or Olya. There was nothing to write down on, so I took the ballpoint pen he handed me and wrote our landline phone number right on his hand. Signed: “Olya, Natasha.” It seems to me that he didn’t even bother who was who among us. A couple of days later he called, invited me to a concert, then for a walk... So the conversation began. He picked us up in his car, Olya sat in the front seat, closer to him, and I modestly sat in the back. To be honest, at first my friend and I had a mercantile interest. We hoped that popular musicians might need backup dancers for extra income.

Victor:

Seryoga Katin had familiar dancers, and he invited them to the shooting of our next video. Filmed in a bathhouse. But the girls, I don’t know why, didn’t come. I called Natasha: “Can you jump up to us in an hour? There is work".

While they were driving, the cameraman got drunk and fell into the pool with his camera...

Natasha:

We arrive, we understand that “there will be no cinema,” and we invite the whole group to come and drink tea with jam. It was a wonderful evening, it was fun and good. And after these gatherings, I realized that I liked Vitya.

— Victor, what did you feel at that moment?

Victor:

Yes, God knows... I saw a girl like I had never had. After that evening, Natasha and I went on tour. I’m going to Chita, she’s going to Bulgaria. Luckily, Natasha mentioned the details. She said that she and two friends were invited to Sunny Beach to dance in a variety show. And that they agreed to work with some

Lida from Bibirevo. A week or two passes, I returned to Moscow a long time ago, and Natasha does not call, she is not at home. I tensed up, attracted friends, and we found this Lida, and at the same time two of her friends, who sent the girls “on tour.” I come to them and demand: “Call where you are keeping them, I want to talk to Natasha!” - “We don’t know anything!” - they are rude in response. I had to give them all a physical reprimand. It turned out that Natasha and her friends were deceived: no variety show was planned - they were going to be used for other work. And in fact, they are being held captive in some Bulgarian village, not allowing anyone to call. My friends and I gave this trio exactly one day to return the girls home.

Natasha:

And we didn’t even have time to get scared. We were treated well there and fed well. Of course, it seemed strange that they kept us in a tiny hotel for so long, but we were promised that the concerts would begin in just a little while. Luckily, a local cook took a liking to me, he asked me to marry me and fed me for slaughter. (Laughs.) When the phone rang early one morning and I heard Vita’s voice, I was terribly surprised: how could they find me?

That evening we were taken to the station and put on the train. I arrive in Moscow, and at my friend’s house there is a bathroom full of roses waiting for me. It was Vitya who brought flowers, asked her to meet me, and he himself went on tour. And when I returned, we both realized that we didn’t want to part. I don’t know how he feels about me, but I was very interested in him. Vitya is eight years older, which in those days was a whole generation! But we couldn't stop talking. And still the topics for conversation do not dry out.

- Natasha, but Victor was not free, his daughter was only four months old at that time. Did you think that you might get seriously burned?

Victor:

Do you remember the movie "Autumn Marathon"? So, I’m not Buzykin, and our story is not like that.

Natasha:

Vitya never fooled around, didn’t say: wait, the time will come... He didn’t scold his wife and didn’t hide the fact that they had a small child. It is known that this happens: men, after taking a walk, return to their family. Single recipe

in such cases no. Vitya and I lived as our hearts told us, one day at a time, but we didn’t think about what would happen next. Touring saved us - we practically never left each other. We will return to Moscow, and in two or three days we will be on the road again. When Vitya returned, he increasingly spent the night either with me or with his mother. She guessed that something was going on, but did not torment him with questions. Just like my parents. They said: “You have to live. And your mistakes are yours, but your happiness is also yours.” A very wise position!

Victor: At first Natasha saw me as a clown, not a man. Performance by the group "Dune" (1996). Photo: PhotoXPress

— How did it happen that the tours became joint?

Victor:

The only way out for us not to break up was to continue working together. And since I don’t understand anything about dancing, I decided that I needed to teach Natasha to sing. I tried it - he hears the notes, which means everything is in order. Found a teacher

from “Gnesinka” - Elena Bazova. At the same time, Agutin studied with her and Lenya.

And soon Natasha began singing on stage - in the style of “Dune”, only in a girl’s version. The songs, good and mischievous, were written by the poet Leonid Petrovich Derbenev and the composer Alexander Lukyanov.

It was great: Natasha and I were always together, and at home we didn’t have to explain anything.

“But sooner or later you want stability and your own home.” Natasha, how long did you wait until you finally left the tour with Victor under the same roof?

Natasha:

Two years. One day Vitina’s mother, may God bless her, said: “Stop wandering around rented apartments, move in with me.” And she had a tiny two-room apartment in a Khrushchev building with walk-through rooms. It was so scary. Vitya’s mom is like, wow! On my first visit, I woke up in the morning and she was gone: she had gone into the forest to pick mushrooms. I washed all the dishes that were left over from the evening, tidied up and left. And then Vitya told me: “I come home in the evening, my mother is talking on the phone: “The house is shining!” She was pleased that I cleaned up. And she immediately accepted me. Well, I was a modest girl, her son loved me, I loved him, and this is the most important thing for a mother.

I moved my things, began to create coziness... I remember how I opened Vita’s closet, and there was a small pile: a pair of jeans, sweatpants, a sweater - and that’s it. But his popularity was crazy! But all earnings went into creativity.

Of course, when we became a family, we had to solve the housing problem. They saved everything they earned and ended up in a three-room apartment in a Stalinist building. Luxury for the mid-1990s! TV people came to us every now and then. But the dream was to have our own country house to live as a large family: Vitya and I, our parents, a child, cats, dogs... Vasya was born in 1999, and almost immediately we built a house, moved Vitya’s mother and my parents there. It’s good for us - we are constantly on tour, and our parents did not get along under the same roof, despite the fact that each family had different entrances to the house. Now that none of them are alive, we have broken down the walls and closed the exits. The result was a huge house with an area of 700 square meters. m - for three.

- Vasya will get married, and you will have a big family again...

- No, as we now understand, young people should live separately. Vasya is only 15, but we have already started building a house next door.

- Natasha, which of you devotes more time to the child? Who goes to school meetings and checks the diary?

Natasha:

Nobody! And every year on May 25th we shout: “Hurray!” - Another school year is over.

Victor:

And we drink a glass of beer for this “damn” study, I can’t call it any other way! (Laughs.)

My personal opinion: the school in the form in which it exists today is screwed! Children study from morning to evening for 11 years, but they know less than me, who studied six lessons for 10 years, and was also a fool. But then we studied with great interest, read a lot, and wrote letters to the girls, not text messages. I know history and geography very well, unlike modern youth.

This is interesting: How many children does Loboda have?

Natasha:

You have no idea what they are going through right now!

Victor:

Why, for example, do children need to know what chemical and metallurgical complexes are? What can this be useful for? However, they do not have the slightest idea about the wind rose or the equator. They study in detail the industrial revolution of the 18th century in England, instead of understanding the basics of Russian economics, which will help in adult life.

Several years ago I tried to do homework with Vasya. As a result, he lost his temper and yelled at him: “Oooh! Are you stupider than me?!”

Natasha:

Vasya perceives information well by ear. And when Vitya explains something to him in his own words, he then gets straight A’s.

Victor:

I taught him to write notes - a summary of the topic on such small paper squares.

Victor:

No, if the child processes the material himself and writes it down in abstracts, he will remember it better. You do not need to take these notes with you to school.

I studied psychology at a military school, so I know for sure: a child’s bad grades are the failures of his teachers. And I tell Vasya’s teachers directly about this.

Natasha:

Vitya and I just look through the electronic diary and faint. One day Vasya picked up a lot of twos. And Vitya, in order to force him to sit down to his textbooks, hid his entire beloved collection of Japanese swords. Son then

spent time collecting souvenir options - from Japan itself, Italy, Spain. He has been practicing martial arts since the age of five. He has a black belt in karate (Sito-ryu style), a candidate master of sports. And by the way, he is a great drummer. Yesterday, professional musicians were visiting, they heard Vasya play and their mouths opened. He and the guys play very hard rock.

-Where do they rehearse?

“At home, we react calmly to noise. He has not yet decided on a profession; he has two years ahead - he will still have time to decide what kind of education to receive. He plays sports out of habit and wants to become a master of sports. But he does exercises on his own initiative, although he has training every day.

Victor: our ship is the same age as me, manufactured in 1962. Requires a lot of investment. so what? Someone buys chairs for 15 thousand euros, but I’d rather buy an engine with that money. With his son Vasya. Photo: Arsen Memetov

— 15 years is a difficult age. Not daring?

Natasha:

We don't imagine this is possible. Sometimes he babbles and grumbles like an old man. We don't pay attention. But in general he has a good, flexible character. Sometimes I ask: “Vasya, I don’t have time to hang out the laundry to dry. Will you do it? “Okay,” he answers. He goes hanging...

Victor:

Recently I went up to his room and saw that the bed had not been made. And he had already run off with his girlfriend for a walk. I think: “I’ll call you now and tell you everything!” And then I pull myself together: “He’s with Dasha, why should he ruin his mood at such moments? Besides, it’s the holidays...” Although I am a strict father, I am an adequate one.

Natasha:

Vasya's horoscope is Rabbit, a very cautious person. He will ask what he is being fed forty times before he eats it.

a piece. For the New Year we decided to fly to Vietnam. So he tormented us with questions about whether there were tigers, snakes there... We looked, the child tensed up. We flew to Paris, to Disneyland. While he has not yet fully grown up, we try to spend as much time together as possible. It is still important for us to return home not too late and have time to wish him good night. He and Vitya will wrestle a little, pinch each other before going to bed, I will kiss them - and it will feel good.

— Victor, did your eldest daughter really become a police officer?

— Yes, Masha graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Law, then lived for six months in the barracks, learned to handle weapons, although it seems that she doesn’t shoot well. Now she is a lieutenant, working with minors.

— It seems that you yourself advised the girl to go to the police?

— What do you mean “advised”? I insisted on this. For her character, frankly speaking, not soft, working in the police is just right.

She agreed, she is very comfortable in her chosen profession. She says she can’t even imagine where else she could work. Recently, with my husband, he is an employee of the Federal Migration Service, I moved from Moscow to his native Simferopol - there are good opportunities for career growth, and the climate is pleasant.

— Natasha, how did you manage to maintain a good relationship with your husband’s daughter?

Natasha:

It never happened to us that the dad disappeared and did not communicate with the girl. Vitya is always nearby. While Masha was very little, he visited her on weekends. And from the age of six he began to come to us.

Victor:

The first time she came to us with her mother, then Lena left, and Masha stayed for several days. They immediately became friends with Natasha. Our communication never really stopped. And we calmly passed through the difficult transitional age for many.

Natasha:

For her, dad is the light in the window. She can cry to him and complain to him at any time.

— Do you find time to talk?

Victor:

If my daughter calls and I’m busy, I say: “I’ll call you back in an hour.” I call back and we chat about what’s bothering her. Who else will talk to the child? It is clear that there is a mother, but a father is completely different. I can't lisp

I'm speaking to the point. There was always financial support. But, in my opinion, the most important thing for a child is the love and attention of his parents.

Natasha:

When Vasya was born, Masha told us this: “I’ll kill for my brother.” I babysat him while he was growing up. Now they call each other, text each other, miss each other.

- Natasha, Victor, you have been together for 25 years. And, as I understand it, you never part. Do you still have anything to talk about?

Natasha:

Well, what about it? If someone wants to wash the bones, why not? (With a laugh.) Believe it or not, we still arrange romantic trips.

Natasha: While our son has not yet fully grown up, we are trying to spend as much time together as possible. It is still important for us to return home not too late and have time to wish him good night. He and Vitya will wrestle a little, pinch each other before going to bed, I will kiss them - and it will feel good. Photo: Arsen Memetov

— You have been the owner of the ship for many years. And it requires serious financial costs. Is this not a reason for quarrels?

Victor:

“M.V. Lomonosov" - my age, produced in 1962. It really requires investment. so what? Someone buys chairs for 15 thousand euros, but I’d rather buy an engine with that money. Natasha is all for it. We throw parties like this on this ship! What are you... We have a lot of friends. Sometimes about sixty people gather, we like to fool around!

- Natasha, but everyone has contradictions. Who gives in?

- Mostly me. But neither of us are perfect. And if one of the two begins to behave incorrectly, then soon, having weighed everything, he understands that a loved one should not be offended or get on his nerves. We have been together for almost 25 years, and I still feel like a loved woman. Although Vitya is not particularly talkative and does not like confessions. But his actions speak for themselves. He is a man with a capital M. It amazes me how so many worries fit into his head - about all his loved ones, friends. He takes care of me, I take care of him, that’s our whole secret.

There was an apartment of 250 square meters in Spain, in Alicante. On the eve of the 1996 elections, we were all given a bag of money for our work, enough for an apartment. They began to sort of settle down to live there. After 8 years, I don’t want to hear the word “Spain”. We sold it, breathed freely and bought a ship with this money.
