Biography: family and childhood
Antonina Papernaya (photo above) was born on June 1, 1990 in the capital of Ukraine - Kyiv. She comes from a creative and respected family. Her father (Evgeny Paperny) and mother (Olga Sumskaya) are famous Ukrainian actors. Their names are also known to Russian viewers. Not only our heroine’s parents, but also her grandparents (on her mother’s side) are directly related to cinema.
Little Tonya was often behind the scenes of the theater. She looked with bated breath at everything that happened on stage. Even then she wanted to become an artist. At school, the girl studied well, attended the drama club and sports section.
Evgeniy Paperny: “Previous wives could not stand me”
The famous actor acted as producer and director of the comedy play “Boeing-Boeing”, with which he successfully tours throughout Ukraine
For several months now, Evgeniy Paperny has been traveling around the cities of Ukraine with the production “Boeing-Boeing”, which he himself produced and directed. One of the roles is played by his ex-wife Olga Sumskaya.
The genre of the play is comedy. Of course, there is no time for laughter in the country now. But Evgeniy Vasilyevich is convinced: we need to lift people’s spirits, instill optimism and faith in a better future.
— What is the play about, Evgeny Vasilyevich?
— This is a French comedy, the main characters in which are three flight attendants (a French, a German and an American) and two young men, one of whom is a Parisian. He tells a friend who came to Paris from the provinces how he has arranged his life - dating three girls at once. They work for different airlines and fly according to a specific schedule. And so the guy lives with a French woman for two days, with a German woman for two, and then with an American woman.
— Who are you and Olga Sumskaya playing?
— Olga plays the role of a maid in a Parisian’s house. As it turns out later, she was also once a flight attendant. In the finale, Olga goes on stage to a song performed by Patricia Kaas in a chic flight attendant costume (made, by the way, by Mikhail Voronin’s concern). And then I appear - a Boeing pilot who, after retirement, became a concierge. This is a couple who used to fly together.
— So they said that I immediately wanted to see your performance.
— The audience really likes it. Nowadays people are especially drawn to the lyrical and funny - there are enough dramas and tragedies in life. And so it was in all difficult times. Remember, for example, how the creativity of artists was in demand during the Patriotic War. Concerts became an outlet for people, a breath of oxygen.
— Where have you already been and where are you going on tour?
“Kiev residents and guests of the capital were the first to appreciate our work. Then we went to Kherson, Krivoy Rog, Cherkassy. I have friends in all corners of Ukraine. We plan to show the performance in Odessa, Lutsk, Rivne, Nikolaev... Of course, we want to go to the east of the country - to Donetsk, Lugansk and other cities, when the situation there normalizes. Now this is simply unrealistic. It is very painful that the situation there remains tense.
- Dangerous?
- Well, that's the second question. When Chernobyl exploded, I worked ten concerts there in June. I didn’t feel much fear. The liquidators were all wearing masks, and I performed with a guitar, without a mask. The result is a second disability group.
— In which city was the reception most memorable?
— In Kherson, the spectators there didn’t want to let us go. We should already be leaving, but they clap and clap for us. We almost missed the train! However, the halls were full everywhere, there was a mad sold-out crowd everywhere. People now, of course, have no time for spectacles. It’s not only hard mentally, many are losing their jobs, their salaries...
Understanding all this, we have reduced ticket prices, although it’s also not easy for ourselves - we need to feed our families, and considerable expenses are required for the production. However, when you realize that you are giving people a breath of fresh air, this is probably the most important thing.
The viewer, darkened by what is happening around him, who has been living only politics lately, suddenly sees beautiful women on stage, smells the aroma of French perfume, hears beautiful music - and life gets better, the strength for creation appears. This is the power of art.
— Did you often encounter difficulties along the way?
- No. Only once, when driving at night, our minibus was stopped at a checkpoint. I showed the posters that we carry with us, and no problems arose. He explained: we are artists, returning home after a tour. I think, besides, those who stopped us recognized Sumskaya, Khostikoeva...
— Is Anatoly Khostikoev also involved in your performance?
— No, his son Georgy, a very talented actor, is participating in it. He plays a Parisian, and his wife Marina Yagodkina plays the Frenchwoman Michelle, with whom he formed a tandem. I guessed it that way on purpose. They play superbly, frankly, as only husband and wife can play.
— By the way, your wife Tatyana is not jealous of your ex-wife Olga Sumskaya? Does he let you go on tour easily?
- Not jealous at all. Moreover, Tanya even participated in the financing of the play. She withdrew almost all the money from her bank deposit and gave me the missing amount. This is my wife! In addition, I always consult with her on many creative issues. After all, she worked for many years as a film editor at the Kyiv Dovzhenko Film Studio, so she knows our “cuisine” well and always gives practical recommendations.
— What is your family history?
“We’ve been together for more than twenty years!” And this is, first of all, the merit of the wife. It's all about her tolerance and wisdom. I'm not a gift. My previous wives couldn't stand me. But Tanya endures, and for this I appreciate her. It happens that I say something stupid and am surprised: there is no rude answer or reciprocal gesture on my part from her. And this disarms me. Sometimes I reproach myself: how could I raise my voice against this holy woman?
— Where do you get the inspiration that is so necessary for an actor today?
- In my wife. She is my battery and incentive. Tanya’s health is not good, and I do my best to make her feel confident in this life. I have to provide for my family financially. It's all on me now, but that's okay. There are women who forge their lives by driving Lexuses and earning an enormous amount of money. My wife is different. I believe that a woman's strength is in her weakness. A man should go hunting, and she should keep the home.

- Today is a difficult time. There have been difficult periods before? For example, the 1990s.
— Oddly enough, for some reason I didn’t feel any difficulties then; they somehow passed me by. Maybe because at that time he was going through changes in his personal life? I met Tanya. Now here she is sitting next to me with a laptop - so important, wearing glasses. And this is such happiness! Tanya, one might say, is my “responsible secretary.” She is fluent in the Internet, it is her element. When scripts are sent to me, Tanechka accepts them and prints them out in large print so that I can read without glasses. And as soon as I get close to the computer, he says: “Make sure you don’t break my laptop!” True, I have my own, it’s in a little case. But I don’t come close to it, because I read somewhere that the third world war will start on the Internet. And, as I see it, this is where everything goes. Secret service codes are being cracked on the Internet, and money is being stolen from banks through it!
- Let's think better about the world...
- Of course, we all want peace and tranquility. I want to live, work, love. Many people are depressed now. And I suddenly remembered how six years ago Ada Rogovtseva and I successfully toured Ukraine with the enterprise “Warsaw Melody-2”, then with Khostikoev and Benyuk we toured with the performances “People and Mice”, “Senior from High Society”...
I thought: after all, I can do something myself. Moreover, I have long dreamed of staging the comedy “Boeing-Boeing”. I had this idea in my head for a long time. And finally he assembled a good team, gave the team the opportunity to earn a little bread, and gave the audience a boost of cheerfulness and optimism.
— Evgeniy Vasilyevich, I can’t help but ask: some artists went into politics, but did you have such a desire?
- No, it never happened. God forbid! This is what I remember about this. When my car is being repaired, I usually take the subway. And then one day I was standing on the escalator and heard a conversation between two boys. One says to the other: “Do you even know who is standing in front of us?” He answers: “No.” The first to him: “So come and look.” The boy walks around me to the left, looks me straight in the face, and comes back. And I think: I wonder what he will say to his friend? And suddenly I hear: “Wow - Frost rides the subway!”
So, as you can see, politicians are now much more popular than artists. In general, it is better not to mix politics with art and art with politics. Politics and politicians are temporary. Today these, tomorrow - others. But true art is eternal.
