History of creation
The "Brilliant" group traces its history back to 1995, when composer Andrei Grozny (ex-soloist of the group "Kar-Man" and producer of Viktor Saltykov, the groups "Amega" and "Bounty") with his old friend, musician Andrei Shlykov, decided to create a women's group a group similar to the British “Spice Girls”.

The first to join the group was 18-year-old Olga Orlova - she was recommended to the producers by the lead singer of the once popular group “MF-3” Christian Ray, in whose video high school student Olga had starred shortly before.

Orlova invited Grozny to take her friends into the group, dancer Varvara Korolev and Polina Iodis, who at that time was studying in Moscow at the Faculty of Law and left the institute for the sake of the group. Olga performed as a soloist of the group, while the rest of the girls worked mainly as backup dancers.

For the first 2 years, even Russian musicians, not to mention listeners, did not know the girls by sight, although the songs from their debut album “There, Only There” were very popular. The artists began to be recognized after the release of the first videos at the end of 1996-beginning of 1997: by that time, “Brilliant” had undergone the first changes in its composition - Varvara decided to leave the group and devote herself to her family. “There, Only There” - the first video of “Brilliant” (1996) Koroleva was replaced by a 20-year-old graduate of the College of Arts, Irina Lukyanova. Then 21-year-old Zhanna Friske was invited to the group as artistic director. The producers invited the journalism student to select outfits and choreograph numbers for the group members, but in mid-1997, the charismatic Zhanna became the fourth member of the girl band.

Today the girl is one of the founders of the Federation and the Russian Surfing Championship and has been living in Bali for several years.

In 1995, Andrei Grozny was so inspired by the success of the American group “Space Girls” that he decided to create a girl group. He didn’t have to look for a vocalist for long - he already had Olga Orlova in mind. A beautiful brown-haired woman with a gentle voice suggested that the producer take her friend Polina Iodis into the team, who did not have good vocals, but looked very harmonious in the frame. The third place was the talented dancer Varvara Koroleva. Two blondes and vociferous Olga became a spectacular trio and shot the first video for the song “There, Only There.”
After the release of their debut album, the group lost one member - Varvara left to build a personal life. Irina Lukyanova was taken in her place. The red-haired beauty with big eyes quickly got used to both touring and the hectic life on wheels.
At the end of 1996, an artistic director appeared in the group. The fatal brunette Zhanna Friske came to choreograph numbers for the girls and take on all the responsibilities for organizing the concert. Thanks to her amazing external data, within six months she became a full-fledged member of the team. Now the line-up consisted of four performers, and it is this one that is still considered “golden”.
1999-2002
In mid-1999, the ranks of the “Brilliant” were joined by the ex-soloist of the youth group “Class” - 19-year-old Ksenia Novikova, who periodically recorded backing vocals for the group. Together with Ksenia, the group released the songs “Winter will come after autumn” and the incredibly popular “Ciao, bambina!”, for which a very erotic video for those times was shot (dir. Philip Yankovsky, the son of Russian actor Oleg Yankovsky). All of Russia was discussing Zhanna Friske in a transparent negligee, who showed the “Sharon Stone gesture” in the video. The viewer's attention was fueled by the fact that many TV channels refused to broadcast this video. Brilliant - Ciao, bambino Meanwhile, the remix of the hit, created with the participation of Alexei Ryzhov, a member of the group “Disco Accident,” was heard at all discos in the country, and the girl band’s album “About Love” was sold out at breakneck speed.

In 2000, due to a conflict with Andrei Grozny, Orlova left the group. The singer was expecting a child, but hid this fact for a long time. As a result, the management told the soloist that they did not need her, Olga was told. Pregnant Orlova managed to appear in the video for the song “White Snow,” but a month later the video was remade and all the episodes with the singer were cut out. "Brilliant." A resounding success
In 1997, a video for the song “Clouds” was released, which instantly became a hit. This composition made the girls stars of show business, and Andrei Grozny understood in which direction the group needed to be developed. The name of Olga Orlova is well known to everyone - after all, it is she who sings almost all the songs, leaving the girls only to sing the choruses together.
2002-2007
In September 2002, the group presented the album “Beyond the Four Seas,” made in genres unusual for the group: from disco house to rap. The album even included “heavy” compositions, which came as a surprise to the artists themselves. Friske summarized that the team is turning from a girlish one into a female one. This was also confirmed by journalists who sought to send Zhanna and Irina Lukyanova into “retirement.”

In March 2003, Irina found out that she was pregnant, and the doctor gave her a choice: either work or a child. The singer chose the second and left “Brilliant” - later she returned to dancing. In Lukyanova's place they took a former figure skater, 23-year-old Anna Semenovich - the girl interviewed the group, after which she received an offer to become part of it. Together with Semenovich, “Brilliant” released the hit “Orange Song” and the album “Orange Paradise”. In 2004, 23-year-old Ukrainian singer Nadezhda Ruchka, who had previously sung in the group “Party” and worked in a casino, joined the group. With the updated lineup, the band recorded the songs “New Year’s Song”, “Palm Trees in Pairs” and “Oriental Tales” (with the Iranian-Swedish singer Arash). Shiny ft. New reshuffles (2001-2003)
In 1999, in August, a new soloist appeared in the group - Ksenia Novikova. Her arrival was marked by the appearance of new songs: “Ciao, bambina”, “Winter will come after autumn”. Later, the music album “About Love” and the collection of the best compositions “White Snow” were released. In 2000, Olga Orlova left the team due to pregnancy. In her absence, Zhanna Friske became the leader of the group. This ambitious girl soon (in 2001) launched a solo project, but continued to work in the group. Soon the charming Yulia Kovalchuk joined the team. Another pretty blonde has joined the “Brilliant” group. Photos of the girls appeared on the pages of famous glossy publications.
In 2003, this group was recognized as one of the brightest Russian musical projects. However, Irina Lukyanova soon left the group. She worked as a soloist for seven years. 2007—2014
In March 2007, Anna Semenovich left the group, who was replaced by 22-year-old ex-soloist of “Strelok” Anastasia Osipova. Six months later, Ksenia Novikova went on long maternity leave: first, her eldest son Miron was born, and a year and a half later, Bogdan. In her place they took Natalia Asmolova, whom Shlykov noticed during one of the castings: the girl was not distinguished by her curvaceous figure, but impressed the producer with her outstanding vocals.

Natalia lasted in the group for only 3 months. She was replaced in “Brilliant” by Friske’s younger sister, Natalya. However, she was able to last only a year in the team - almost simultaneously with her, Kovalchuk left Blestyashchie, whose contract had expired.

At the casting, the producers chose singer Nadezhda Kondratyeva (in the end, she never became a soloist, appearing only once with the group) and dancer Anna Dubovitskaya as replacements for the departing artists. It is interesting that Dubovitskaya’s husband in 2011 became businessman Sergei Anokhin, who at one time met with Novikova and Friske Sr. The members of the group confirmed that many girls liked Anokhin, but this did not bring discord into the group.
In 2008, a bright 18-year-old brunette, vice-world champion in ballroom dancing, Yulianna Lukasheva, came to Blestyashchiye. With her participation, the tracks “Odnoklassniki” and “You Know, Darling” were recorded and the collection “Odnoklassniki” with old hits covered was released.
In November 2009, Yulianna left the group and was replaced by Marina Berezhnaya with “very fashionable r’n’b vocals and outstanding appearance.” In mid-2011, Ksenia Novikova returned to the group from maternity leave, and at the same time began working on solo projects.
New losses
At the end of 2003, Zhanna Friske announced her resignation. She sets off to build a solo career, and she does it very well, unlike Olga Orlova. In place of the “little little one” they take the no less spectacular Nadya Ruchka. Soon two hits will be released at once - “Agent 007” and “Oriental Tales”. These are the last compositions of the group that became hits. In March 2007, Semenovich left the team, and in May, Ksenia Novikova left. Their places are taken by Natalia Asmolova and Anastasia Osipova. The first was unable to find a language with the team and three months later ended her collaboration with Andrei Grozny, and Zhanna’s younger sister, Natasha Friske, was taken in her place. However, after six months she also leaves the group. Kovalchuk also leaves with her.
2014–2017
In July 2014, the group performed at the New Wave festival in Jurmala - without Anna Dubovitskaya, who went on maternity leave after the wedding. In the summer of 2020, after 8 years of “service,” Anastasia Osipova left the group and was replaced by ex-soloist Natalia Asmolova. Like the first time, Asmolova lasted only a couple of months in “Brilliant” and left after Ksenia Novikova - she switched to her own project “Ksyusha” and the charitable foundation “Our Meaning of Life” that she created.

At this time, storm clouds were gathering over the ex-soloist of the group, Zhanna Friske. A woman who recently gave birth to a son was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in her brain. She bravely fought the disease for 2 years. Money for the treatment of the people's favorite was collected with the help of Channel One. We managed to collect more than 60 million rubles; but even the doctors of an elite American clinic could not save the singer. In the summer of 2020, Zhanna Friske died. Olga Orlova, who until the last hours of her life was next to Zhanna, experienced the loss the hardest.

In December 2020, on the occasion of the band’s 20th anniversary, the group released the collection “Best 20”. In the summer of 2020, there were again three members in the group - Nadezhda Ruchka, who had long been suspected of having an affair with Alexander Marshal, went on maternity leave after her wedding to businessman Denis Boyarko. Nadya announced that she would not return to “Brilliant”.

How the most powerful women's groups in Russia were formed
All-girl groups emerged in the late 1950s. Initially, they were used for backing vocals or to promote individual hits of producers and composers. Later, girl groups appeared in a variety of genres: disco, R&B, country, pop music. The most successful female group to this day remains the British Spice Girls, who have sold more than 75 million copies of their records in the world. In the 1990–2000s, Russian producers also began to create girl groups. But not all of them achieved real popularity. Only a few girl bands gained fame, despite the fact that their soloists were constantly changing.
Group "Lyceum" (exists from 1991 to the present)
One of the most successful Russian projects must be recognized as the Lyceum group. It's no joke, it's been around for almost 20 years! True, for a while the group stopped performing and recording new albums, but did not leave the stage completely. And one member of the team, Nastya Makarevich, remained the undisputed leader all these years.

The idea of creating a girl trio performing not traditional dance pop, but live, rock and roll music in spirit, came to the mind of the ex-guitarist of the cult group “Resurrection” Alexei Makarevich in 1991.
This happened after attending a concert at the studio theater, where his daughter Nastya sang along with two girlfriends. “I immediately realized that there should be three girls,” recalls Makarevich. “Four is dizzying, two is not enough, but three is the best option.” The newly minted producer dressed the girls in jeans and white shirts, gave them guitars - and that’s how the “Lyceum” trio appeared. The first composition of the group included Nastya Makarevich, Izolda Ishkhanishvili and Lena Perova. The trio made their debut on the television program “Morning Star” in September 1991. They performed the song One of Us from the ABBA group's repertoire. And the first performance with his own song “Saturday Evening” took place on the “MuzOboz” program on the ORT channel in 1992.
The group performed quite successfully until 1997, and then a scandal broke out. Lena Perova was fired because, according to the producers, she violated her contract and became a TV presenter. Perova's place was taken by Anna Pletnyova. “The composition of the group members changes, but the general spirit remains, that is, the brand remains,” Aleksey Makarevich is sure. “People continue to recognize the name, and that’s enough to motivate them to attend the concert.” It is necessary that the girls did not change very often in 20 years, only eight times. In April 1997, the Soyuz studio decided to create a female group similar to the Spice Girls and entrusted the implementation of the project to Igor Seliverstov. The British five Spice Girls were chosen from 400 applicants, ours from 4 thousand. After reading the announcement of the competition, the girls filled the square near the cultural center in Ramenki. The audition lasted two weeks. At first they left 800, then 150, 50, 20 and finally 7 - with the aim that two would eventually be eliminated on their own. And then it turned out that seven girls on stage look more interesting than five.
“Strelki” can be called a unique group: the soloists here changed more often than in any other group: there were more than 30 of them. It was precisely this constant change of girls that became the main reason that the group ceased to exist. Fans were so tired of the change in the Strelok lineup that each new girl was greeted negatively. As a result, in 2006, after finishing the tour in the United States, it was decided to disband the group. True, the concerts and programs with the participation of “Strelok” did not end; numerous “second casts” took part in them, sometimes the “main” participant Lana Timakova performed with them.
Subsequently, the group's producers made statements about plans to revive the group and the preparation of new material, but things did not go further than talk. “The task of revealing their creative abilities was not at all,” music observer Artur Gasparyan once said. – It was a musical conveyor belt. The idea was simple: chicks, legs, tits... All this was supposed to run, shake, get up. Rich customers should have rolled their eyes at this (to use another verb) and rejoiced. Group "Factory" (exists from 2002 to the present)
The TV show “Star Factory” helped many people shine on our stage. And the very first project gave birth to the group “Factory”, which took second place at the show. It was then that the members of the group met - Sati Casanova, who came to study in the capital from Kabardino-Balkaria, a Muscovite, a student at the Gnessin Music School Sasha Savelyeva, and a chemist by training and a graduate of the College of Pop and Jazz Arts in vocal class, a resident of Krasnoznamensk near Moscow - Ira Toneva. Initially, the group included Sati Casanova, Irina Toneva, Alexandra Savelyeva and Maria Alalykina, but later the latter left the team, deciding to devote herself to her studies and personal life.
According to Igor Matvienko, “Factory” is a kind of female version of the “Lube” group, retro stylized. The girls' success began on the TV show and continued when the girls went on their first tour. The song “About Love,” for which the debut video was shot, stayed in the charts for 36 weeks. For a long time, Sati, Irina and Alexandra performed as a threesome. For eight years, the Fabrika group, unlike other groups, never changed its composition.
Changes occurred only in May 2010, when Sati Casanova left the team and decided to pursue solo creativity. The former lead singer of the Russian pop group Hi-Fi, Ekaterina Lee, was invited to take her place. More precisely, according to the singers, the casting was difficult at first: “There were beautiful girls, but, unfortunately, none of the singing beauties suited us. At the moment, “Brilliant” are Marina Berezhnaya, Silvia Zolotova and Kristina Illarionova. Sometimes Asmolova performs with the girls, and at the beginning of 2020 there were rumors that Veronika Romanova, the host of the morning program “StartUp” on the RBC TV channel, could become a new member of the group. But now Yulia increasingly appears on the TV screen in various projects, both as a participant and as a presenter. For example, a girl won the show “Dancing on Ice. Velvet Season" paired with Pyotr Chernyshev and in the show "Ice Age. Fairytale continuation" with Roman Kostomarov. However, the singer spent the last month and a half on the set of the new film “I’ll Get Married Urgently,” where she plays the main role.
“I am, first and foremost, a musician and singer. It’s just that fate favors me so much that my desire to realize myself as an actress comes true. Usually I am invited to play myself. True, I already starred in a feature film, but it never came out. “Even during “Brilliant” I dreamed about this. I dreamed of creating clothes, I wanted my own brand, I drew sketches. By the way, I still draw sketches myself.
