Host of the program “Food, I love you!” Ed Matsaberidze spoke about the disease and his feelings

The host of the “Food, I Love You” program Ed Matsaberidze told his fans the sad news. Doctors discovered lymphoma in the artist. Currently, Ed has shaved his head and is undergoing chemotherapy. On his Instagram page, Matsaberidze thanked his subscribers for their support and talked about how it all began and how he feels now.

It started out incomprehensibly, temperature 37.3, cough, lump in the throat, swelling of the neck and muzzle of the face and sinusitis! Actually, everything that happened was attributed to sinusitis. And by the time the sinusitis was cured, but my head remained swollen, as if they had fucked me up and then somehow put on make-up, 3-4 weeks had already passed, it was getting worse. And then I came across a smart therapist, who, seeing my swollen neck, and my swollen face on it, made a sad face and sent me for an x-ray, because he knew what lymphoma was, but I didn’t yet.

Doctors diagnosed the presenter with a tumor the size of a grapefruit. The artist admitted that he was crushed by this news and thought it was the end.

I don’t remember how I got to the car, I remember that I was sitting in it alone (I sent my wife to the pharmacy for something) and just went hysterical. It couldn't be called crying, it was hysterical! Snot bubbles, everything is like in a cheap TV series about snot bubbles. At that moment, I did not see any light and was sure that I was finished, largely thanks to the laboratory assistant who handed us an x-ray with the words: “Well, at least try.” He did this on Friday at 6 pm, when everything and everyone was closed for the weekend. He left us with these thoughts for two days! It was the longest weekend of my life. Although, to be honest, now I am not at all angry with that person, because after what he told us, the subsequent news from the doctors seemed purely positive to us.

The artist also noted that due to chemotherapy courses he began to lose hair on his head and body. He had already gotten used to his new image and described with humor everything that was happening to him now.

But, whatever one may say, you get used to it and sometimes it’s even strange to see photos of yourself with a beard and hair! But this is not the only strange thing on my part. Why? I don’t know, but even though my head is bald, I wash it by inertia with shampoo and dry it with a hairdryer. I'm sure my imaginary hair is as excited about this as I am. Have a nice day everyone, get tested, take care of your health, wash your hands with soap.

In May 2020, fans were shocked by the news that Eduard Matsaberidze had cancer. The TV presenter himself spoke about his diagnosis - lymphoma. This is an oncological disease in which cancer cells attack the body's lymphatic system.

The man decided to blog in detail on Instagram, where he talks in detail about the stages of treatment. Thus, he wants to motivate both people already suffering from cancer not to give up, and healthy people to get tested regularly. Matsaberidze says that people are required to do a general blood test every six months and undergo fluorography once a year. These two hours of time spent can save 10 years of life. He maintains his account, as before, with humor. He receives hundreds of comments a day, some support him, while others thank him for his posts and tell their own stories of fighting cancer.

According to Matsaberidze, doctors treated him for sinusitis for a long time, but the man did not get better. Only one experienced therapist doubted the diagnosis, which made it possible to identify a tumor the size of a grapefruit. Edward did not hide the fact that at first he was scared. According to him, he was “hysterical” just like the actors in cheap TV series.

After the second course of chemotherapy, the TV presenter’s appearance changed. First of all, he went bald. Although he jokes that out of habit he washes his hair with shampoo and even blow-dries it. In one of the posts he said that hair had even fallen out from his nose. Secondly, he lost a lot of weight.

In early June, Matsaberidze completed his third course of chemotherapy. The TV presenter admits that this is not a pleasant feeling. Plus, after stopping one of the drugs, he began to experience withdrawal symptoms. My joints hurt, I feel hot and cold. He calls “chemistry” a test of old age. It makes a person inactive, there is no strength in the muscles, the legs give way when walking, and 2 km a day is already an achievement. Vision and memory have deteriorated. However, after the third chemotherapy, doctors noted positive dynamics. And at the end of June the fourth course began.

After the fifth chemotherapy, Edward's eyelashes and eyebrows fell out. The actor said that he never expected them to be so important to a person. Now the eyes dry out, and more often something gets into them. The man also said that now his acquaintances rarely recognize him - without hair and beard, and even weighing 14 kg less.

In August, Matsaberidze completed his sixth course of chemotherapy. And in September 2020 he informed subscribers that he was now officially recognized as disabled.

Despite such a terrible diagnosis and already six chemo treatments, Edward did not intend to give up. In the “Evening Urgant” program, Matsaberidze told fans and Ivan Urgant that at the moment he had managed to defeat the disease.

“Vacate the office!”: TV presenter Eduard Matsaberidze defeated cancer

The star of the series “Sweet Life” and one of the hosts of the travel show “Food, I Love You” Ed Matsaberidze became a guest of the “Evening Urgant” program, where he said that he managed to cope with cancer of the lymphatic system. According to Ed, after reviewing the PET-CT results, the oncologist asked him to leave the office because he was no longer her patient.

"She says, 'No lymphoma.' I say: “So what next?” She says: “vacate the office.”

The presenter was even confused, because for the last few months all he had done was undergo chemotherapy sessions and recover from them:

“Something is missing, some kind of incompleteness. Because you had an enemy for six months against whom you fought, and now they tell you: “That’s it, the war is over.” You're like, “What should I do?” And to you: “That’s it, you’re fired.”

Matsaberidze was so stunned that, just in case, he also consulted Israeli doctors. But they confirmed the verdict of their Russian colleagues: oncology has retreated.

About the fact that he was diagnosed with a terrible disease, the host of the program “Food, I love you!” he told the subscribers of his account. Moreover, the entire time he was being treated, he recorded videos from the hospital room, and when he had to shave his head, he joked about it several times. Subscribers encouraged the young actor in every possible way and wished him a speedy recovery. And then the other day he published happy news.

“This is the news! The tumor shrank to the size of 2.9 cm x 2.1 cm, as Mexican oncologists say - this is: “El grande successos!” compared to the initial dimensions (13.9 cm by 8 cm). In other words, she was 356 cm cubic! Almost a bottle of beer. It won’t disappear completely; our goal is to turn it into a scar! There is an opinion that we succeeded, they say that the bone marrow is clean! But I’m afraid to be very happy (even though I do it on the sly) and I won’t until I have a super-mega-control PET-CT next week!

A month and a half has passed since the last chemotherapy, walking has become easier, pain in the joints has decreased, the broooows are back!!!!! Children no longer turn gray when they see me!!!!))) I can walk up to the fifth floor and almost never lose consciousness! In general, solid advantages! In short, we’re waiting for the 20th!”
