Biography of the presenter
Alexander was born on May 30, 1979 in Moscow. He is the only child in the family; his parents belong to the working intelligentsia.
Even during my school years, I became interested in computers and electronic technologies, so after graduating from school I applied to the Lyceum of Informatics and Communications, majoring in Programming.
In 1998, he created his first turnkey page. In 2000, he began collaborating with the Agama company, where he received a senior position in the group. A year later, he successfully passed the casting for the television show “Behind the Glass,” but stayed there for only a week.
After leaving the project, Koltovoy decided to learn a new profession, began attending journalism courses at the Internews agency and working at the same time. Soon, from the management of the TV-6 channel, he received an offer to become the host of the “Network” program. This is how Alexander’s career on television began.
He later took the position of editor-in-chief at a glossy popular science publication, and in 2006 became senior editor of the Galileo project. In 2012, he signed a contract with the Nauka 2.0 TV channel, on which he hosted two programs - “At the Limit” and “Sports Technologies”. Since 2020, Alexander has been collaborating with the NTV channel, where his program “DNA” was very popular with viewers.
Childhood and youth
Alexander was born and raised in Moscow. My father held the position of leading engineer in the space industry, my mother devoted her life to science - she worked at a state research institute as a microbiologist. The parents tried to provide their son with everything he needed, so sometimes they stayed at work for a long time.
Alexander studied well at school and dreamed of becoming a geologist in the future. The guy more than once imagined how he would go on expeditions and sit with a guitar by the fire in some wild places. But his passion for geophysics was not the only one; he was also attracted to computers and information technology.
After graduating from school, Alexander chooses to become a programmer. At that time, the Internet began to actively develop and Koltov realized that he could make good money by creating virtual websites. He collaborated with various companies, and in 2000 he even headed the project, working for the Agama company.
The path to popularity
On October 27, 2001, Alexander became a participant in Russia’s first reality show, “Behind the Glass.” The essence of the project was that young people had to be in a confined space all the time without communication with the outside world, and any of their actions were filmed by television cameras located around the perimeter.
Within a week, the young man leaves the project, explaining his departure by the conflict situation that has arisen between him and the editors, who deliberately distorted real events. But participation in the project is not in vain and gives Alexander an impetus to change his occupation. He enrolls in journalism courses and begins to actively work in this direction.
First success
Apparently, Koltov chose this specialty for a reason; good luck accompanies him. Soon the management of TV-6 contacted him with an invitation to become the host of the Network program. Then offers for cooperation simply started pouring in. Alexander received the position of editor-in-chief of a popular glossy magazine. In 2006, he took the chair of senior editor of the scientific and entertainment television program Galileo. In 2012 he appeared as a presenter in the series of documentaries “Sports Technologies. Secrets of Records" and conducted dangerous experiments in the extreme show "At the Limit" on the Science 2.0 TV channel.
Best Universities to Study
Let's look at several of the best higher educational institutions in Russia, where they teach TV presenters. Of course, the palm belongs to the capital’s universities:
- Moscow State University named after. M.V. Lomonosov trains employees for TV with bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the Faculty of Journalism, where there is a direction in “Media Communications”. There are also branches of Moscow State University abroad: in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan. High school students can try their hand at the School of Young Journalists, the Media School, or take preparatory courses (face-to-face or remote).
- The Russian State University for the Humanities offers training in the “Television Journalism” profile. In addition to purely professional disciplines (television, radio broadcasting, print media), students receive knowledge in psychology, political science, sociology, and law. Great importance is paid to the tolerance of the future leader.
- The Moscow State Institute of International Relations trains highly qualified specialists at the Faculty of International Journalism. University graduates have a deep knowledge of the most complex global geopolitical processes. Students undergo internships in large Russian and foreign media holdings.
- The St. Petersburg State Institute of Film and Television has been working in the educational market for more than 100 years. At the university you can enroll in the specialty “television production and broadcasting”; training is carried out using innovative technologies and the most effective developments in domestic and foreign TV.
- The Ostankino Higher School of Cinema and Television is a good option to acquire a specialty in “television and radio program presenter” for people already working in related fields. The duration of training is only 14 months, the emphasis is only on the professional aspect, master classes are regularly held by famous TV and film workers (Vladimir Pozner, Alexander Lyubimov, Irina Khakamada, etc.).
When deciding where to study to become a TV presenter, you should not forget that many large regional universities also have journalism departments, so for those who do not have the opportunity to conquer the capital, it is quite possible to start their path to the top locally. This specialty can be found in classical, humanities, and even technical universities.
High school students who dream of becoming a TV presenter need to focus on training in humanities subjects. Usually, future journalists are required to obtain Unified State Examination results in the Russian language, literature, social studies, and foreign languages. In addition, in most universities you will also need to pass an interview and a creative competition (most often write an essay).

Personal life of actor Daniil Strakhov
While still a university student, Daniil was in love with actress Maria Leonova. But today’s hero was prevented from entering into a relationship with her by another man, with whom the actress already had an alliance.
Finding solace in other women, Daniel started affairs, one after another, until fate brought them together again with Maria Leonova. Russian talents met on the same stage. This was the beginning of their romance together. At that time, the girl was already free. The celebrity wedding took place in 2001.
The actor has been happily married for 20 years now. Daniil Strakhov remains faithful to the only woman - Maria Leonova. They have not yet had children.
Maria and Daniil didn’t even invite their parents to the wedding at the registry office; in general, everything is not like everyone else’s. The stars chose not to live in a prestigious area near Moscow and neglected the center of the capital. They chose a quiet place near Saratov. Now the couple live in their own house, in which there are no servants. They do all the work themselves and sometimes joke about the fact that someday they will start a service staff, most likely when they celebrate 50 years of marriage.
All publications on Instagram and other social networks from the life of popular actors appear from fans. Daniil Strakhov himself does not see any point in maintaining social pages. networks.
The wife of a popular actor considers theater, not cinema, her life. Throughout her career, she starred in only 2 films, and devoted the rest of her time to the theater stage.
