Timur Gatiyatullin was born on April 19, 1988 in the capital of Bashkortostan, the city of Ufa. Timur is the only and long-awaited child in the family of Stanislav and Zemfira Gatiyatullin. He is Tatar by nationality. The artist’s parents are in no way connected with the world of music, which did not stop Timur from choosing the profession of a musician.
In childhood and adolescence, Gatiyatullin was not distinguished by good behavior, he loved to hooliganism - in his company there were people who were involved in drugs and banditry.
After graduating from school, the guy entered the College of Trade and Economics, where he studied to become a manager. After this, Timur became a student at the Faculty of Psychology at the Bashkir State University.

Today my interlocutor is a popular rap artist - Timur Gatiyatullin, under the pseudonym Honest. Is being honest your credo in life or is this an interesting move to hook the viewer?
Timur Gatiyatullin (Honest), rap artist: Secondly, no, I’m an open guy myself, I’m probably like my mother. Dad is more closed, and mom is more open. I’m just learning today to sing not only about myself and not only about the situations that I went through. Now I have a new circle of friends and when we communicate, I learn some details from their lives and little by little they somehow become part of my works. If I try to sing something I don't feel or something I haven't seen, I can't do it.
So your tracks contain real life stories?
Timur Gatiyatullin (Honest): Of course. In order for a person to hear something, he must take it somehow seriously, not only with music, with some words or something else, but as real stories. I think that each of us has a story of unrequited love, friendly betrayal and everything else. Even I, looking at my life, can say with accuracy that I have made a lot of mistakes in my life, so I sing about this in the hope of cleansing my soul, of saying something to the youth who listen to me.
You are a psychologist by training. Have you managed to work in your specialty or do you use some psychological tricks in your tracks?
Timur Gatiyatullin (Honest): With the specialty of psychologist, I will now make a brief remark, I encountered it for the simple reason that there were life difficulties that I had to cope with and one of the solutions was probably psychology and the 12-step program, and the general psychology, and clinical psychology. Basically, I’m not a psychologist myself, I need help myself, so I can’t say anything. Maybe this taught me to understand people a little bit.
Do your loved ones support you psychologically?
Timur Gatiyatullin (Honest): Close ones are the foundation for me. There are people who alone can do everything, I know such people and I am not one of them. I need a foundation, I need support, love - I can’t do it without this. Today, everything I have, physically, spiritually, and financially, is all thanks, of course, to my mom, dad, family, friends, and, of course, my girlfriend.
There is a track called “Sorry Mom.” What are you asking for forgiveness for?
Timur Gatiyatullin (Honest): This track is very sincere. It combines apologies with some street details. I used to go through my pockets at home when I was little, I would rummage through something there until I realized that it was wrong, and I did it.
Hooligans?
Timur Gatiyatullin (Honest): I was very hooligan. In general, I am one of those people who are told: “Don’t do it,” but I do it. I couldn’t say “don’t do it,” I had to say “do it.” I broke everything all the time, if the rule was to turn left, but I turned right. My mother probably bore the consequences for all this. And it’s not her fault, and it’s not my fault that this happened in my life. For this I asked for forgiveness.
You have a lot of fans, especially on the Internet. You can see 17 million views. How did you manage to achieve this?
Timur Gatiyatullin (Honest): Of course, I would like to take all the laurels for myself, that I am so handsome, charismatic, cool, I sing honestly and everything else. Based on the fact that there are many such talented and beautiful people, there are others more talented than me. I think, after all, that everything comes from God, probably. Since childhood, I have had some situations that showed me that God is helping me, I am his favorite, so I don’t even have anything more to say.
Do you have many fans in Belarus?
Timur Gatiyatullin (Honest): Honestly, I don’t know, I don’t know. Based on the fact that the concert was organized, I came and there were people standing behind the scenes, I think that they were there.
Are you familiar with the work of any Belarusian artists? Maybe Tim Belorusskikh, Max Korzh?
Timur Gatiyatullin (Honest): Familiar around the edges. I know both Max Korzh and the Belarusians. The Belarusians are probably singing about white sneakers.
There are only a couple of people about whom I will say, perhaps, negatively about creativity. I’m the kind of person that if a person sings, if he makes money from it, if he does what he likes and at the same time the people around him like it, then that’s cool. I don't have to condemn this in any way.
The downside of popularity is that there are a lot of haters. You have them. How do you feel about them?
Timur Gatiyatullin (Honest): Sometimes it’s hard. There are different haters. I am for constructive criticism, but I am not for insulting me, my girlfriend and my family. I don’t like it when they come, for example, to some venues, swear and swear - I don’t like all this, but in general I take it calmly. I studied for a long time, really. At first it touched me, I’m so very sentimental. I can spend half a day thinking about what some person wrote there. Then gradually I learned to separate.
But even now, sometimes I want to answer, I want to take it and write to him. Then you think: “Stop, what am I doing, why do I need this.”
How do you feel about rap battles? Maybe you yourself would like to participate?
Timur Gatiyatullin (Honest): Negatively. I don’t like insults, I don’t like getting personal. I myself usually communicate very distantly, I will never allow insults towards a person, especially relatives and friends, so this is not for me.
Which rap artist is your favorite?
Timur Gatiyatullin (Honest): MiyaGi & Endgame. As stupid as it may sound, Dima Taras. Yes, we are partners, but over the time in which he has developed, I have respect for him. I would like to achieve the same results in my own way.
You have appeared in cinema. Tell us about it.
Timur Gatiyatullin (Honest): It was a cool experience. To be honest, they offered me, I wanted it, but I still didn’t have the feeling that I couldn’t cope and that I would do something badly. Then something happened to me at the last moment and we did it so smartly. I didn’t take part there alone, but with my girlfriend. It turned out that we did it and it looked pretty good.
I am a leader on my own, and if I come somewhere and don’t occupy some leadership positions, then it’s hard for me to open up. I open up when I am a leader.
It worked out very well there, I came to the set, it was a shooting day, I opened up, felt myself, and so I swam like a fish in water. At the end, when we sat down, I was very satisfied, I really enjoyed it. I’m grateful to the people who invited us there, so I think it’s very cool.
Even though this is a regional movie, it’s not some kind of blockbuster, but for us it’s a lot, for us it’s a result.
What surprise awaits your fans this spring?
Timur Gatiyatullin (Honest): I can’t reveal it yet. I can only say one thing: during the lull that was there, I had a creative and life crisis. Today it has passed and therefore I want to show that it has passed. I think we will delight people with a lot of material, shows and communication. I think it will be very cool, so there is something to look forward to.
Give advice to young artists who want to be as famous as you. What should they do?
Timur Gatiyatullin (Honest): At a minimum, you need to be yourself and not be afraid to try something. I suggest listening, after all, to those people who push forward, and not those who pull back.
There were very few of them on my way; I did it myself. Only my mother once told me: “Yes, Timur, good songs.” This was the only person who liked something. The rest, I’m very sensitive, made it clear with their gaze, attitude, and feelings that they didn’t like it. I didn’t have people who could support me then, I didn’t stop there. It seemed to me that I felt here, I wanted to make music, I continued to do it and in the process there were people who began to support and it all resulted in what we have now.
The first is to believe in yourself, the second is to try to find yourself, not everyone can become a musician, not everyone is given it. But in order to understand whether it is given or not, you need to try to do it all.

Timur is married to a girl named Olesya (according to other sources, her name is Ekaterina), whom he dated for about seven years before the wedding. On April 1, 2020, the couple had a baby.
