Host of “Good morning, Russia” Denis Andreevich Stoykov. Personal life and creative path

Sports career

Denis Stoykov began his sports career even before school. His parents took him to the pool, where he started swimming. After some time, he became interested in pentathlon. It was this sport that became the main one for Denis. Thanks to his successes, he joined the Dynamo team, won two silver medals at the World Championships and one gold medal at the European Championships. In 2000, he was selected for the Russian Olympic team, but due to a tragic incident he did not go to Sydney. Before qualifying for the country's Olympic team, Denis was attacked by robbers in the entrance of his own house. As a result of the incident, he suffered a head injury, which prevented him from further training before the Olympics.

During his sports activity, Denis graduated from the Moscow Sports Academy and also received a scientific degree - Candidate of Economic Sciences at the State University of Management. At the same time, he became an international master of sports of Russia in modern pentathlon.

Childhood and youth

Denis grew up in an ordinary family, his parents were workers. Since childhood, he has been involved in sports, in which he showed strong character and was confident in his abilities. Before school, the parents took the boy to the pool, which then became his second home. Denis spent his entire childhood and youth training. He had no time to have fun with friends and wander idly through the streets.

Even in school, Denis thought about his future as a professional athlete. Denis became interested in pentathlon, and this played an important role in the fate of the young man. He showed good results and joined the Dynamo team.

The path to popularity

Denis has repeatedly won prizes in competitions. At the World Championships, the young man took second place and returned with a silver medal, and at the European Championships he won a gold medal. Denis soon qualified for the Olympic team in 2000. However, he did not make it to the competition.

One day, when a young man was returning from training, bandits attacked him at the entrance. He was robbed, Denis received a severe head injury. This injury was the reason for the end of the athlete's career.

The young man decided to test himself in other areas of activity. Denis received higher education. He graduated from the Russian State Academy of Physical Culture, and then from the State University of Management. He is a candidate of economic sciences.

First success and work as the host of the program “Good Morning, Russia”

After he had to give up his career as an athlete, his wife suggested that Denis try himself as a journalist. Thanks to his appearance and good speech, the young man ended up on television channels. He became an editor and correspondent for the TVC channel, where he was paid a small salary. Over time, he gained experience and became an excellent journalist. Denis proved himself and became the host of the weekly sports program “Arena”.

  • In 2006, Denis received invitations from Vasily Kiknadze, director of the Sport channel, and became the presenter of sports news on this channel. Stoikov is becoming popular. After some time, he takes the place of a commentator on sporting events, and then becomes the host of the “Olympics Diary”. It covers the pentathlon.
  • In 2020, the management of the Rossiya TV channel came to the decision to change the TV presenters of the Good Morning, Russia program. The man received an invitation to the central channel. At first the audience didn’t like Denis, but then they got used to him. At first he worked in tandem with Anastasia Chernobrovina, then she was replaced by Elena Nikolaeva. They still work with this composition today.

Stoykov participated in the feature film “The Ideal Couple,” which premiered in 2014. He played a minor role in the film.

Present and creative plans for the future

Denis is now at the peak of his career. He plans to continue working as a presenter on the central channel and continue to try himself as a film actor. Despite the fact that the presenter’s roles are episodic for now, perhaps the time will come when he will play the main role in a full-length film.

Sports journalism

When the athlete’s career was gradually coming to an end, Denis’s wife, journalist Vera Serebrovskaya, pushed him to change his professional activity. Denis decided to try himself in sports journalism. Fortunately, his appearance, diction and knowledge made it easy to do this. The first refuge was the TVC channel, where Denis worked as a correspondent, presenter, and editor for a small remuneration. Such multi-machine work allowed me to gain knowledge and experience in the profession I was mastering. Sergei Cheskidov became a mentor in the sports editorial office. After some time, he was entrusted with hosting his own weekly program “Arena”, where he showed himself excellently as a sports news presenter.

Answers from Denis Stoykov

1. Tell us when you decided to become a sports commentator and how you became one? What was your baptism of fire like?

It's all a matter of chance. My wife, Vera Serebrovskaya, suggested that I become a sports commentator and journalist. When we met her, she was reading sports news on 7TV. “You have a normal appearance, good diction, you are well versed in the topic - why not try?” - she said. My sports career was ending by that time: age, competition, I had to think about future professional activities.

At first I tried my hand at the TV Center channel. For myself, I then defined it as studying with a small stipend: I worked as a correspondent and was engaged in editing. I was sent to film some bream fishing in the Moscow region, this was my first independent story. As for reading the news, I don’t even remember my first issue. Then I came to audition for “Sport”; at that moment they needed a presenter. Vasily Kiknadze, at that time the head of the Sport TV channel, liked me, and he took me. That's how it all happened.

2. What qualities should a person have to become a popular and respected sports commentator?

The recipe is universal, and this applies not only to journalism. My father said that there are people from a breed of teachable and unteachable. You have to be of a trainable breed.

3. Who are more successful commentators - men or women? What do you think is the reason for this?

Mostly girls on sports TV channels are either news anchors or correspondents and, less often, commentators. There are a lot of girls among the correspondents, and there are a lot of girls among the presenters, especially now. As for the commentators, 90% of them are men, and this is also due to the fact that men's sports predominate. If they showed more synchronized swimming and rhythmic gymnastics, then there would probably be more female commentators.

4. Which university, Russian or foreign, would you advise those who want to become a sports commentator to enroll in? Does a sports commentator even need a specialized higher education?

My wife graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at Moscow State University, but I cannot say that, having received a diploma, she was enriched with some knowledge that would have been impossible to obtain on her own. I graduated from the Physical Education Academy, then defended my Ph.D. thesis in economics. I don’t have a philological education, but I don’t regret it. It so happens that in our country, having the appropriate education is not a guarantee of good employment.

It is not necessary to have a red diploma or a gold medal. I re-learned another specialty. I was never a crazy club fan, I never had fanatic sentiments, but I knew the sport from the inside. When I came to journalism, on the one hand, I understood that I was prolonging my sports life, and on the other hand, that all my previous sporting achievements meant nothing and as a journalist I was still zero. I had to learn everything from the basics, I delved into all the rules. And we still have to delve into something.

For some time I studied with a teacher on speech techniques. For the most part, the classes were aimed at diction and articulation: tongue twisters, certain exercises. As for the intonation, this is largely due to my wife. Every person, when talking to someone, most often does it correctly, without thinking, but when they give a piece of paper with text and need to read it, certain problems arise. You need to understand what information to highlight, what to say in passing. Vera worked with me, closely followed the broadcasts, made comments, sometimes even very offensive.

5. Are Russian sports commentators any different from foreign ones? In which countries is it easier, more interesting and more promising to comment on sports?

I heard that on some foreign channels there are services for selecting a commentator. The viewer himself chooses what kind of commentator he will listen to: emotional, calm or generally inter-noise. But in general I wouldn’t say that you can look for any differences. By and large, each commentator is individual. I like humor to be present so that it is not dry. At the same time, when I comment, I try to think that not only knowledgeable people are watching me, but also those who do not understand this sport at all and any little thing may be interesting to them.

6. Are there any professional rules and taboos for sports commentators?

The commentator must be impartial and not show his sympathies.

7. If a person, young or not, wants to try his hand at commentating on some sport, what can you advise him?

In general, I really like one phrase: for weak people, the goal is a dream, and for strong people, the dream is a goal. If you want to try your hand, you need to take any competition, turn off the sound, comment, record yourself and listen. Perhaps at this moment it will be clear that “this is not mine.” Well, if it works out, then you can always find an opportunity. Our channel recently held a commentary competition. Two winners were chosen, and they even went to the football Euro, so anything is possible if desired.

The manner of telling the news in a language understandable to a simple TV viewer allowed him to quickly gain popularity among colleagues and ordinary people. Soon he began commenting on various sporting events, leading the “Olympic Diary” and “Sports Panorama”. During world competitions, Denis Stoykov covered mainly events in fencing, horse riding, swimming, shooting, and pentathlon. After all, these sports are familiar to him firsthand.

Journalist career

Stoykov's journalistic career began in 2005. The TVC channel aired the Arena program. Denis acted as a correspondent and presenter. Every week, as part of the television program, they covered sports news and interviewed athletes. Stoykov’s sports background helped him quickly adapt, be close to the heroes of the program and at the same time remain his own person among the television crew.

In 2006, Stoykov became an employee of the Sport TV channel. Valery Kiknadze invited him here. Here many opportunities opened up for him. He successfully commented on pentathlon competitions, took part in various programs talking about modern pentathlon, met with champions, and conducted interviews. For several years in a row, Stoikov was the permanent presenter of short episodes of Vesti Sport. As the presenter himself says, it was a strong television school. During this period, he managed to hone his announcer skills, he learned to be absolutely impartial in the frame, and learned his best and worst angles.

It turned out to be an interesting program that aired every week. It was called “Ask the Minister a Question.” At that time, this topic was acute and in demand. Stoikov did not mince his words, could quickly find his bearings, improvised, and made truly interesting episodes with his team.

Until 2020, Denis worked at Sport, then received an offer to become an employee of the All-Russian state television channel Rossiya 1. It was a promotion, but it promised a complete change of image. From this moment on, the presenter had to be good-natured, sweet and always reserved. The tough moments of sports programs are behind us.

Denis's personal life

There is no exact information about Denis’s personal life; he does not talk about it. But nothing can hide from the watchful eyes of spectators. Denis Stoykov had a wife, Vera Serebrovskaya, who also holds the position of TV presenter on the Russian channel. She could be seen in the morning program “Vesti Moscow”.

We know that the couple met at a time when he was still involved in sports activities. It was she who advised him to try his hand at journalism. After the wedding, a daughter, Zoya, was born into the family; there were no more children. Happiness was in full swing, but soon conflicts began to arise between the spouses out of nowhere. The wife could not stand it and decided to file for divorce.

Probably everyone remembers the scandalous story that happened in the family of the famous TV presenter. Vera complained that Denis beat her and began to strangle her right in front of her little daughter. Journalists did not pass by and began to conduct their own investigation.

That day, Serebrovskaya told her husband that she was filing for divorce, after which her husband immediately attacked her and began shouting that he would not give up Zoya. The husband dropped the woman, began to put pressure on her with his knee and strangle her, all this was observed by the little daughter. But she was able to escape from the hands of the crazy father of the family and already in the car began to call the police, where the beating was recorded.

After signing all the papers, the parents entered into a legal agreement, according to which Vera had the right to take her daughter with her for a week, but Denis did not comply with what was written on paper and set the schedule himself. He tried to protect Zoya from her mother’s attention.

Soon the mother found out that her daughter was sick and decided to visit her at a bus stop near the hospital and took her to her home. Denis went to the police the next day and wrote a statement in which he indicated that Zoya had been kidnapped by three adult men. In fact, the father knew where his daughter was and deliberately hid the truth. As a result, the man will face investigative proceedings. It's scary to think how many nerves the little girl had.

Despite the end of his sports career, he continues to monitor his health and constantly visits the gym. In addition, he holds the position of leader in an amateur football team and organizes training and competitions. Currently, rumors have begun to circulate about a relationship with a colleague on the “Morning of Russia” program, Elena Nikolaeva, but these are only unconfirmed guesses.
