“As a teenager, my skin didn’t give me any problems – it was fair and freckled. Already at university, small rashes sometimes appeared; fortunately, they were easily masked with concealer and were practically invisible. But after the second pregnancy, a pigment spot of a rich color appeared on the forehead, which is almost impossible to hide.
My first acne happened to me during a difficult period in my life. I then quit the “1+1” channel, where I worked in the “Without Taboos” program. The head of the project, Olya Gerasimyuk, became a people’s deputy, and I moved to the “Ivanna Naida Show” on the New Channel, but unexpectedly for everyone, literally a month later the show was closed. So for the first time I was left without work. At that time I was no longer dependent on my parents, I lived in a rented apartment, and the question was not even a new place of work, but where to move next - remain a journalist or try myself in a new role. During that difficult period of reflection, the first outbreak of acne occurred. The rashes were minor and concentrated mainly on the forehead. I cut off my bangs to hide the troubles, and with aggressive creams and “talkers” I cured my face in three months. By that time, I already had a new job - in the press service of the then mayor. 13 years have passed since then, I have returned to my original position and am again in search of a path.
In stories, I did not hide the fact that the current acne outbreak was triggered by nervous exhaustion. Since March of last year I have been going through a very difficult divorce process. In May, my father was diagnosed with acute leukemia; After he suffered an ischemic stroke a year ago and lost the ability to speak, this sounded to us like the most terrible sentence. Of course, we didn’t give up, we found the best specialists, fought for his health, he underwent chemotherapy, and my brother and my mother and I were always there. He did not agree to treatment, and it was necessary to keep him under IVs with love and distract him in every possible way. And all this against the background of the loss of his own family with all the aggravating consequences.
All these problems, which fell like an avalanche, had to find a way out - and they did. My face suffered. Now I understand that this happened against the background of a new round of my life, when I again have to make a choice. I have a business, my own business, but my income is not enough to fully provide for my children and myself. Rent an apartment that can accommodate three children, hire a nanny, buy groceries, provide for everyday life... But I have me - and, of course, everything will be fine.
I'm not treating my nerves now; I talked with a psychologist before all these events and continued after. Later I connected another specialist, but they did not see the need for drug treatment. The main emphasis today is on correct life attitudes and skin treatment.

At first my acne was not obvious. It all started with rashes on the neck under the ears, which gradually began to spread to the cheeks and chin. I sounded the alarm and turned to my cosmetologist. She requested test results - complete blood count, liver tests, hormones, bilirubin, diagnosed acne and recommended laser treatment. Additionally, take care of your skin with Zo Skin by Obagi products and wipe your face with zinc pads. The laser had to be done once every three weeks, and this greatly delayed the healing process. The first two procedures, it seemed to me, stopped the process, but after the third there was a relapse.
I moved to another clinic, where I was recommended cryomassage, ozone drips, a program rich in antibiotic creams, and “talkers”. I followed the doctor’s orders for a month and already saw some progress, but then my dad left. 4 days later I woke up, and my face was a solid inflamed red lump. And although I can’t say that this upset me more than everything that was happening, it was still extremely unpleasant. For some time I stopped going to the doctor, but I regularly used everything that was prescribed: the anti-inflammatory “Metronidazole”, “talkers”, mud masks, droppers, and oral treatment.
Until the moment it was possible to hide my shortcomings, I led an active social life, but when the situation worsened and a tragic event occurred in the family, I took a break and devoted a month and a half only to my family.
I can be said to be a public figure; many people know me and pay attention to me. I want to please people with my appearance, and, of course, myself too. It hurts to look in the mirror - and this is the biggest discomfort associated with acne.
I stopped going out in public. If there was a need for a work meeting, I had to apply a thick layer of foundation, and I was afraid to touch my face again, so as not to aggravate the situation.
On the eve of Catholic Christmas, when my children and my mother were shopping in a supermarket, a man approached me. He apologized for his insistence, and complimented me by saying that he felt sorry for me, because I was a very beautiful girl, and I should definitely go to the dermatovenous dispensary on Saksagansky, 72, to see the dermatologist who cured his son. Mom, of course, decided that this was a sign, and I, of course, did not argue.
Dr. Ostapenko turned out to be a professional with extensive experience (and an appointment with him costs 200 hryvnia). Alexey Tarasovich did not dispute the prescriptions of his predecessors, first of all he asked for test results, absolutely professionally and accurately formulated what was happening with my face, clearly laid out the situation and came to the conclusion that in my case there is one option - treatment with retinoids.
I take Roaccutane (use only as prescribed by a doctor - ed.). The first month - 20 mg, the second - 40 mg. Afterwards - a visit to the doctor and a decision on further actions. The treatment will last at least 6 months, but, according to Alexey Tarasovich, the problem will be solved forever. The main thing in taking retinoids is to strictly follow the instructions. It is important to choose the right amount of the drug according to the person’s weight. Many of my friends took the retinol-containing drug “Aknetin” (use only as prescribed by a doctor - ed.), but did not last the prescribed period. They had terrible relapses after a couple of months or six months.
Due to the treatment, I have restrictions: a complete abstinence from alcohol, dairy, sweets and spicy foods. Baths, saunas, swimming pools are not allowed; During the year, injections and punctures of the skin are strictly prohibited. All you need is plenty of hydration, gentle treatment of the skin and patience, and I will also help the body functionally - I will take a course of IVs with a cocktail of vitamins at the Wellness Bar.
I started my course of treatment on January 1st. The doctor promised visible improvements after two months. I have now completed the detox program at Edem Resort Medical Spa and am seeing excellent results. The body skin is ideal in condition, cleanliness and elasticity; the face, of course, will also return to normal. I hoped that this would happen before the first of February, when UFW starts, but apparently I’ll have to miss them too. This is the first time since September that I have seen improvements, and I would not like to make the situation worse.
