Childhood and youth
Elizaveta Tuktamysheva was born in the ancient city of Glazov in December 1996. She is Udmurt by nationality. Since childhood, Lisa was extremely active and energetic, and she developed a strong character early on. At the age of 5, her parents took Elizaveta to the figure skating section, deciding that these qualities would be useful there.

Elizaveta Tuktamysheva in childhood with her mother and sister
Svetlana Veretennikova undertook to train the girl.
Soon the woman became for Tuktamysheva not only a respected mentor, but also a true friend. Lisa, under her leadership, soon began to demonstrate excellent results. She became the best in her group. Adults, as well as sports mentors, who observed the girl’s achievements, already realized that the figure skater had a brilliant future ahead of her.
Childhood of Elizaveta Tuktamysheva
The girl Lisa was born in the city of Glazov.
From childhood she was active, energetic and resilient. They were only surprised at the girl’s character: when she fell, she never cried. Lisa spent a lot of time on the gymnastics wall. Being very small, she could do seven pull-ups. At the age of five, Elizabeth was enrolled in the figure skating section. Veretennikova became a coach, and then a close person, for the girl. Very soon Lisa began to make progress and became the best in the group. Then both the coach and the parents of the young athlete realized that her future should be connected with professional sports.
When Elizaveta was ten, she performed at the Mishin Cup in Belgorod. The founder of the competition could not help but notice the talented girl, because she was the one who took first place. He immediately offered her an internship in St. Petersburg. Naturally, the proposal was immediately accepted.
Figure skater Liza Tuktamysheva is a young talent
From that moment on, trips to St. Petersburg began. Lisa and her mentor and coach Veretennikova went there every two weeks to adjust their technique. Veretennikova was always next to the girl, while simultaneously studying Mishin’s advanced techniques. This went on for five years until the family moved to St. Petersburg.
Personal life
On social networks, the athlete maintains constant correspondence with her fans. Photos often appear on the Instagram page by which fans track changes in the personal life of Elizaveta Tuktamysheva. In their opinion, some of the results of the photo shoots would look good on the cover of Maxim.
Fans lively discussed the pictures in which a smiling Lisa appeared in an embrace with 18-year-old figure skater Murad Kurbanov.
According to rumors, Tuktamysheva affectionately called her chosen one Masya, in response the guy called his beloved Krokha. They said that Elizabeth had to constantly travel from St. Petersburg to Moscow to see the young man. But later it turned out that the colleagues only had sympathy for each other.
In 2015, rumors appeared about Lisa’s new romance, this time with Andrei Lazukin. The young man is the first Russian performer of the quadruple loop, the winner of the 2019 Russian Cup final and the bronze medal winner of the World Team Championship of the same year.

Elizaveta Tuktamysheva and Andrey Lazukin
The closeness of the relationship was evidenced by photographs from a joint vacation, in which the girl showed not only her figure in a swimsuit, but also a tattoo. As it later turned out, it was temporary.
The documentary film “A Flight Attendant Named Lisa” featured the skaters as a couple. Tuktamysheva called her groom LazuKING, and in an interview she shared her dreams of two children and a country house. Lazukin, by the way, approved the idea of stripping, which delighted the Skate Canada audience. Alas, in 2020 the union fell apart. According to Lisa, this is how the circumstances developed.
Fragile at first glance, Elizaveta (height 157 cm) only tries to appear so. On the ice, the skater, by her own admission, “thinks and behaves like a man” in the sense that she does not give in. Tuktamysheva combined her training with her studies at the P. F. Lesgaft Academy. The teachers were accommodating and allowed me to take the sessions externally. When she couldn’t sit at her desk, Lisa took on individual assignments and worked in her free time from the skating rink.
Figure skating
At the age of 10, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva performed at the Mishin Cup, where she was noticed by the director of the competition. The young figure skater took 1st place. Immediately after presenting the prize, the founder invited Lisa to do an internship in St. Petersburg, and the girl agreed.
Since then, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, together with her coach, regularly visited St. Petersburg, where she honed her skills. Svetlana Veretennikova supported Lisa all the time, helping her study the advanced techniques of Alexei Nikolaevich Mishin.
In 2011, a tragedy struck the girl’s family - her father, the coach of the football team, died. The athlete was very upset about the loss of a loved one. The figure skater dedicated all her awards to her dad, believing that he saw her success and was happy for her.
After experiencing grief, the family decided to finally move to St. Petersburg. This event allowed me to take my mind off the shock a little. Now Elizaveta Tuktamysheva has two relatives left - her mother and sister Zhenya, who also became interested in figure skating. Mom, a math teacher, remains Lisa’s best friend, supporting her daughter in any situation.
Elena Sergeevna, almost before anyone else, realized that her girl had a great future in sports. True, now the woman has stopped accompanying Lisa to the competition - the situation there is very nervous.

Elizaveta Tuktamysheva and Alexey Mishin
Alexey Mishin closely watched the achievements of the student, who amazed with her endurance. The mentor tried to help the young talent not only in sports achievements, but also by providing financial support. With the help of the Olympic Hopes Foundation, the families of Tuktamysheva and her coach Veretennikova are provided with housing in the Northern capital.
From an early age, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva was distinguished by her strong character, lack of conflict, sociability and good disposition. It was always easy for colleagues and mentors to find a common language with the girl.
Lisa attached great importance to education. In St. Petersburg, the girl entered the lyceum, where she studied Spanish in depth.
From the age of 12, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva easily performed a complex set of triple jumps, for which she was called a figure skating prodigy. Since 2009, the figure skater has won silver and bronze medals one after another. The girl could only be admitted to international competitions after a year due to the fact that she did not fit the age category.

Elizaveta Tuktamysheva and Alina Zagitova
With her first appearance on the ice in the adult category, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva immediately won the Grand Prix stage. In the final, the skater lost to Adelina Sotnikova, who trained with the same team. The “adult league” for the athlete began with a performance at a tournament in Japan, where she took 1st place. At the age of 15, Elizabeth took part in the 1st Youth Olympic Games, where she won again.
2014 was not the best year in the sports biography of Elizaveta Tuktamysheva. At the Russian Championships, the skater finished only tenth, which was one of the worst results in her entire career. In this regard, the athlete did not participate in the European Championship, and at the Olympics in Sochi she did not even become a reserve. During this period, Lisa was seriously injured. After a successful recovery period, she began to take one peak after another, as if making up for lost time.
The girl follows the coach’s eternal advice not to relax; she admits that the more consciously she approaches the performance, the more responsibility she feels. And compared to young rivals, older ones have a different psychology. The press calls Tuktamysheva the sexiest Russian figure skater.
Soon Elizaveta Tuktamysheva won the Nebelhorn tournament in Germany. Then she won the tournament in Finland, and then the Nice Cup. This victorious performance is a source of special pride for the athlete. A week after Nice, Elizaveta was in the lead at the Grand Prix stage in Chicago at the America's Cup, where she took 2nd place, losing the free program to Elena Radionova. At the 2015 Russian Championships, the athlete managed to win the status of vice-champion.

In the same year, at the World Championships in Shanghai with a short program "Bolero", figure skater Elizaveta Tuktamysheva became the first in the history of Russian women's figure skating who was able to perform a very difficult element - an axel of 3.5 revolutions, and then perform it cleanly triple lutz and a cascade of two triple toe loops. The athlete set a world record and took the lead. Second place went to her longtime rival Elena Radionova.
Also in 2015, the current European and world champion in figure skating visited Switzerland, where she staged a new program with Olympic medalist Stephane Lambiel. The victory in the Grand Prix final that year was the first in 10 years for single skaters from Russia.
In November 2020, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva took 4th place in the ranking of the International Skating Union (ISU).
The skater started the 2016/2017 season at the German Nebelhorn tournament. After the short program she took 1st place, but was unable to maintain her lead and ended up in second.
In October, the champion competed at the Finlandia Trophy tournament, where she failed to make it into the top three. In the fall of 2016, the Russian athlete skated her program at the Grand Prix stage of the Canadian Fed Cup, taking a place next to the podium. And in November she took part in the 2nd stage of the Grand Prix in Beijing, where she managed to win 3rd place.

Elizaveta Tuktamysheva and Evgenia Medvedeva
In December 2020, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva took 2nd place, this time at the Zagreb Golden Horse tournament in Croatia. But in the same month, in a bitter struggle at the Russian Championship in Chelyabinsk, she dropped to 8th place. The middle of the season brought the athlete a silver award at the Russian Cup final. The figure skater’s choreographer Tatyana Prokofieva was delighted with the performance of her ward’s dances, calling the performance the best since the 2015 European Championships.
In addition, Lisa’s coaching staff was replenished with foreign specialist Adam Sol. Tuktamysheva admitted that from the first minutes the vision of music and gestures coincided with the new choreographer, “it happened that he just thought, and I was already voicing his thoughts out loud.”
Having failed the qualifying competitions for the Olympics in Korea, Lisa wisely decided that skating for the Fourth Anniversary Games was not an end in itself. The figure skater is motivated by tournaments in general; she goes to the skating rink to have fun and feel the spirit of competition. And you can’t compare the emotions with anything when a high result is added to this.
In September 2020, the Russian national team held test skates of the programs that the skaters had prepared for the new season. The singles skaters' attention was focused on the confrontation between Alina Zagitova and Evgenia Medvedeva.
This situation played into Elizabeth’s hands; no one bothered her to concentrate. She skated cleanly, with a small blemish on a cascade of two triple jumps.

Elizaveta Tuktamysheva and her mother
Alina and Zhenya fell in their performances, twice Olympic champion. The press did not fail to note that Tuktamysheva now has a chance to return to the figure skating elite if she continues to be as stable.
Two months later, Elizabeth added to her collection of awards with a medal of the highest standard at the Lombardy Cup in Bergamo, Italy, and at the Challenger Series tournament Finlandia Trophy. In the first competition, the judges gave the Russian woman 206.07 points. Not the maximum, but the athlete felt confident in her own abilities.
The desire to prepare well for the second championship led to Lisa going out onto the cold ice with an untreated cold. The girl fell ill shortly before the start, and the performance itself turned out, as the skater herself assessed, dull and unemotional. And Elizabeth is used to the bright ending of the show. Nevertheless, Tuktamysheva inserted her signature triple Axel into both programs, although during the preparatory period the jump was included only in the free program.
The Grand Prix stage in Canada also took place with the participation of athletes from Russia. There, Tuktamysheva’s company included Evgenia Medvedeva and Daria Panenkova. Lisa left her rivals behind, winning gold, Zhenya rose from 7th position after the short program to 3rd.
Tuktamysheva’s victory ended with a striking demonstration performance, which proved that she is ready to flaunt her underwear not only online, but also on the ice. Elizabeth tried on the role of a flight attendant to the Britney Spears song Toxic, remaining at the end of the number in a bra and miniskirt.

Figure skater Elizaveta Tuktamysheva
A unique challenge immediately appeared on Twitter. Striptease at the skating rink, however, not in competition, but in training, Americans Nicky Bausenwein and Glenn Amber repeated. The Russian woman herself promised tickets to the Finnish stage of the tournament for the best comment on the photo from that performance.
At the Japanese stage, where Tuktamysheva won bronze, there was almost an embarrassment - her bra almost came undone. However, Elizabeth assured that thanks to its special design, no one would see anything.
In February 2019, the skater won the free program at the Russian Cup, but the points she scored were not enough to qualify for the World Championships in Saitama. Sofia Samodurova, Evgenia Medvedeva and Alina Zagitova went to Japan to defend the honor of the country. The last two athletes eventually brought medals.
The selection was based on a sports principle, but there was an opinion that Lisa deserved the trip more than Zhenya. For the sake of the championship, she refused the Universiade, and the successful last season should also be taken into account.
Personal life of Elizaveta Tuktamysheva
In the spring of 2011, great grief occurred in the Tuktamyshev family - their father died. Lisa took it very hard. He was a close person to her. She dedicated her victories to him, feeling in her soul that dad would never leave her. The fact that the family finally moved to St. Petersburg in 2011 distracted everyone in the family a little, easing the grief. Mom and daughters simply had to deal with the move.
Liza Tuktamysheva was preparing for Sochi 2014 in 2013
Now Lisa’s family consists of her mother and little sister, her two closest and dearest people. Her mother tries to be a friend to her, supporting her talented daughter. Since childhood, she believed in Lisa, although, according to her, she did not expect her career to take off so quickly.
In Glazov, Liza’s mother worked as a teacher. After moving to St. Petersburg, I got a job at school again, with help from Alexey Mishin. Realizing that it was difficult for Lisa to train a lot and often be away from home, she never tried to take the girl away from the section. Lisa herself is not used to complaining; it’s not in her rules. No matter how difficult it is for her, she keeps everything to herself and continues to train hard. Mom says that she has had this since childhood; even in infancy, Elizabeth did not cry, although she could burst into tears when people began to feel sorry for her.
Elizaveta Tuktamysheva now
To get to the Grand Prix final of the 2019/2020 season, Tuktamysheva had only to add silver to the bronze award of the American stage at the stage in Chongqing, China, but Japanese Satoko Miyahara took 2nd place. Alexey Mishin assessed the judges’ decision as a reluctance to see an overwhelming number of Russian women in Italy. Although Lisa made a mistake on the crown axel, which resulted in disadvantages in her skate skills and ligaments.
The leadership of the team nominated Anna Shcherbakova, Alena Kostornaya and Alexandra Trusova for the European and World Championships. Elizabeth was given the role of a reserve. As last time, the places won at the Russian Championship were taken into account. The tournament, during which the athlete tried to perform a quadruple sheepskin coat, ended for her in 4th position. The highest standard medal from the Golden Skate of Zagreb and silver medals from the Challengers in Finland and Italy do not count.

Keeping in mind the invincible trio of Eteri Tutberidze, one Canadian journalist suggested that Tuktamysheva and Medvedeva change their citizenship, believing that in this country it would be easier for them to win national championships and, accordingly, qualify for major competitions. However, such a thought never even occurred to Lisa.
This ended the sports season for Tuktamysheva.
“Overall, I’m satisfied, I accomplished everything I wanted. Now I work according to schedule, but calmly, and there is harmony in my soul.”
Elizaveta combined her training with preparing for final exams at the institute, participating in Ilya Averbukh’s ice show “Champions,” and working on her own project called “Hot Ice. The impossible is possible."
The Scarlet Empress, as fans dubbed the skater, invited Russian and European champions Alexandra Boykova and Dmitry Kozlovsky, 2020 European champion Sofya Samodurova, and Mikhail Kolyada, who had not competed for a long time. Sergey Mozgov and Betina Popova showed an unusual number - the partner changed into a dress, and the partner appeared in a male image.
Elizaveta Tuktamysheva - figure skater, World Champion 2020
Elizaveta Tuktamysheva - figure skater, World Champion 2020 . She is the second Russian athlete, after Irina Slutskaya, who managed to win first place at the Grand Prix . Famous coaches of our time call Lisa a “prodigy” of figure skating. When did you become so famous? What did you have to sacrifice for the title of “champion”? And how to overcome your own fears?
This interview took place in a homely atmosphere, in the kitchen, before another training session. We talked about prospects, the Olympics and personal things...
Your career began in St. Petersburg. Have you ever regretted that you are not in Moscow?
No never. Firstly, I moved to St. Petersburg from Glazov as a teenager, 13 years old. But I started going back and forth when I was 9. And I didn’t realize what was happening at all. They said: “Move!”, so I moved. The main thing is with mom. The rest didn't matter to me.
That is, if this were Moscow, the main thing is that the family is nearby? Yes, this is extremely important for me.
You moved in adolescence. What was the hardest thing? It was hard for me to travel without my parents. The distance between Glazov and St. Petersburg, with the coach nearby, is scary to remember. Imagine, the child was taken away from his mother every time. After the first training, when I left Glazov for two weeks, I sat down on the platform and began to cry. I wanted to finish this figure skating. But I moved away with time and got used to it.
Have you ever wanted to end your sports career? Then I wanted to finish, because I’m 13-15 years old, the blood is flowing. All my peers are hanging out and having fun, and I’m training from morning to evening. But this period has passed. And now I don’t regret at all that I didn’t have such a typical, normal, as they say, childhood.
Who helped you cope with these experiences? Parents, coach and psychologists.
Let's remember how you got into big-time sports in the first place? I still studied in Glazov. I went to figure skating because it just became interesting. I was the smallest in the group. Well, naturally, the rest of the girls put themselves above. But when the little one started jumping better than the “older” ones, then other conversations began. The coach began taking me to competitions. She won. Alexey Nikolaevich Mishin noticed me. He invited me to train at my place in St. Petersburg.
Weren’t you scared by the looks and conversations of older girls, are you always on your own, go ahead? Yes. Well, how else...
Why not pair skating? You said that they offered. It’s simpler: a partner is nearby, the two of us go through all the difficulties... Yes, they told me that I was short, and I would be able to become a couple. But I am responsible for myself. While I have my talent, I want to develop it.
Do you also choose your own costumes? They stand out from others. Yes. But the entire team of trainers and designers takes part in the development of the design. We usually sew in two weeks. A couple of fittings. And you're done. I really love my dresses. Yes, and the coach and I have the same tastes in this regard.
I watched your performances. There are so many emotions on your face while riding. Sometimes, it even seems that you are not thinking about jumping at all. I think about jumping most of all. But every number should be a masterpiece. You should like the way you dance, play, and smile now. After all, our sport is watched not only by judges who assign points, but also by ordinary people. I would like to show all the feelings that are inside at this moment. For example, I always go out and have fun. I'll get high, if you want.
And when you get so high, you get a sea of applause. Does this public recognition inspire or hinder? It's nice. Especially when you see familiar faces. But at the same time, such applause can knock you out of rhythm. I try to listen to the audience, because after all, the audience gives a certain charge. But I always control the situation.
You are in control. When you free your head from thoughts, worries, stress. There is time for rest. How do you spend your leisure time? In fact, I'm trying to learn how to relax. Everything comes from thoughts. When the season is high, after training you just want to lie down, read, watch TV. My working day, training, is from 6 am to 5 pm. And then I’m home, and I don’t want anything. But when the season is over, you can go for a walk in the evening. And so, regime, regime and once again regime... I have a good time relaxing with friends.
But, I know that you have many close friends in Moscow... Yes, there are guys there with whom I have been friends for many years. I miss them. But, fortunately, it turns out that I can go to Moscow. And to them in St. Petersburg.
Liz, Champions have this peculiar pattern: someone is always reaching out to them. New acquaintances appear, pseudo-friends who strive to become “close”. It happens, yes. You see, I’m a very sociable person in my own right, so I’m only now learning to filter and recognize people. I have very strict principles. And yes, I am open, but the real me, all the secrets of the soul, are known, naturally, only by those closest to me.
I'm looking at your bookshelf. There are a lot of books on psychology. Do you often engage in self-analysis?
I like studying people, getting to know myself. But these books teach, yes. But I can say that my favorite book is still Remarque’s “Three Comrades.”
“Three Comrades” because it’s about people and again makes you look at certain things with different eyes?
Yes, I really respect male friendship. Sometimes I even regret that I was not born a man - I don’t have such friendships. I read “Three Comrades” in literally three days. And then I walked around for another week, all in my thoughts.
Do women know how to be friends? Women are just different... They are more emotional. That's where envy happens. And self-interest. But men don’t have that, I think so.
And you don’t try to run away from problems, hide them behind the books of great psychologists. It’s worth “Project Happiness”. I read it too. Well, it says there that you need to start a new life after you say goodbye to all unnecessary rubbish. Throw away old things and so on. But this doesn't solve the problem, right? Rather, it works on self-hypnosis. We threw away our things, and that's it, we are free! It’s not that I’m running away from problems…. Don't know.
Liz, what is your biggest fear? I'm afraid of the unknown. Like all.
Is it because an athlete's career is quite short? Yes. I am a sportsman. And here everything depends only on me, on my health. You can't rely on your family. Rather, now my family depends on me. That's why it's scary to think about the future. What if something doesn't work out. Professional sport is a risk. You can lose everything in one moment. Therefore, you must always be on your guard.
Does your family depend on you? You are only 19 years old... You have a good salary and fame. Why not live for yourself? My family, and I too, are used to living in abundance. Yes, I make good money. And I don’t want to deprive my mother and sister of what they like. If there is no sports, we will have to live differently. I understand it. A lot depends on me now. Their comfort, coziness, mood...
Your coach is Alexey Nikolaevich Mishin. It turns out that for so many years, he is always there. Is he your friend? Or could he become a second father? Yes, more like a father. Alexey Nikolaevich is very caring. I can tell him everything, he will listen, help, give advice. He feels me. And in general, it seems to me that I could not have found a better coach for myself.
He didn’t leave you when there was a difficult period in your career. Disastrous season. Didn't go to Sochi. He is a very competent coach, I think that he always saw potential in me and that he could still squeeze something out of me. There are only two such people in my life: he and Tatyana Nikolaevna Prokofieva. I think that they believed in me even when I no longer believed in myself. They charged us with confidence and optimism. And they didn’t let us give up.
Alexey Nikolaevich is considered one of the best coaches in the World... They do, but not everyone. There are competitors, just like everywhere else. Yes, and they put a spoke in your wheels... How do you live with this? In fact, I myself have not encountered any kind of setup. But they told me cases... And about the coach: you see, I’m lucky that I train at Yubileiny. There are no “bad” people in Mishin’s group. Everyone is decent. I think that it is he who creates such an atmosphere. But in Moscow, yes, anything can happen there, and there are different skaters and coaches.
Tell us about the prospects. Is single women's figure skating developing at all?
Unfortunately, very slowly.
You are the only one in the world who does a triple axel. Now we need to learn the quadruple sheepskin coat, and we will have no equal? What's next, Liz? Olympics? If I do everything that depends on me, then my prospects are good. But I don't want to think about what will happen next. I'll just do my job. But I won’t talk about the Olympics.
Because journalists are already tired of asking questions about the Olympics in Sochi? The Olympics are not just competitions. It is also a storm of some incomprehensible emotions. It has its own politics. And, naturally, my absence from the Olympic Games in Sochi became an excellent opportunity for journalists to write interesting materials. Only, unfortunately, there were few interesting ones. I calmly answered all the questions. I understood that I couldn’t get away from this. And the fact that I didn’t get it... You know, I accepted it. Not my time, then. Mine will come yet.
One day you were one point short of the world record... Yes. It was at the World Championships in the short program. But I wasn't offended. I didn't think about the record. The ratings were decent. Moreover, before this I had a disastrous season. And rise in one year to the title of World Champion. I think this is exactly the main thing. But the record will still be there. Skating a purely short program is the best dream for me.
Now you didn’t make it to the World Championships due to injury... This is not the first time with me. But yes, I was very upset at first. There was severe depression. She moved away. I'm used to it. And I watched the Championship through the screen. I didn’t see anything out of the ordinary in the girls’ programs. Our figure skating is at a high level. The coach and I generally have our own tactics - we first fight with ourselves and defeat ourselves. And then the medals will come.
My main rival is myself.
And if we talk about idols and examples. Do you have them? No, what are you... I'm the only one like this. I have never had an idol, and this applies to cinema, the stage, and even more so to sports. Yes, there are talented people, but they are definitely not idols for me.
You are the only one... But they often try to take your place. Is there strong competition in your sport? Competition is everywhere. But she is mostly on the ice. Outside of it, we communicate well. Imagine how boring it would be without this excitement of competition.
With Adelina Sotnikova, for example, you have a good friendly relationship...But on the ice you are your main rivals. Yes, we have always been like this. And we communicate very well. In general, I think that our generation (plus or minus two years) is very strong in figure skating. Therefore, we cannot give up ground here.
Is it just that you can’t give up ground here? In other respects, do you cut yourself some slack? I give. In food (laughs). But this year is generally busy for me. And not even so much because of sports. Trauma issues need to be resolved. And with studies. I'm doing the same. I still dream of becoming a psychologist, but for now I’ll go to the sports department. This will make it easier to combine University and sports.
Are exams just another competition? Yes, that's for sure. Just without competition (laughs). But everything seems to be going well so far.
Everyone in Glazov knows you. Right? Do you feel this fame in St. Petersburg? Not really. Here I'm more of an ordinary girl in a tracksuit. I take the metro. I wear dark glasses. I don't wear much makeup. Although now, yes, we have begun to learn more than before. Invited to events as a guest.
Liz, your destiny is this kind of cardiogram. Ups, downs, stress, working on yourself, ups again... It’s more interesting this way. And I am convinced that everything is for the better. If there is thunder over me today, it means I can overcome it. Plus, your family and loved ones are always nearby. This is the main thing. No matter how banal it may sound.
