Irina Tarannik: short biography, film career and marital status

Biography

Irina Tarannik was born in the Amur region into a simple family. When Ira was still little, the family moved to live in the Rostov region. It was here that his stage debut took place. The girl took part in the “Mini-Miss-95” competition during the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the city. “Participation in the “Mini-Miss-95” competition, dedicated to the bicentenary of the city of Sulin, Rostov region, where I lived. I was ten years old. Everything took place in the House of Culture and was very large-scale by the standards of a small town. And this was my first encounter with the stage. My mother and I recently rewatched the recording and laughed heartily. There was an assignment to imagine who you would be at 25 years old, and all the children said that they would be doctors, teachers, but I imagined myself as a Hollywood star, whom Spielberg calls, and I tell him: “Sorry, Spielberg, I can’t act with you, I I’ve already agreed with Mikhalkov.” By the way, I then received the title “Miss Hollywood,” apparently for that scene. But I was still very upset that I didn’t win the competition, although I was told that “Miss Hollywood” was much cooler than “Mini Miss Sulin 95,” Irina recalls. After graduating from ninth grade, the future actress and her parents moved to live in Moscow. When the girl was faced with the question of choosing a future profession, she remembered participating in a children's competition, and then her mother advised her to apply to the theater institute.

Tarannik gave preference to VGIK and took a course with Alexey Batalov. But she was offered a paid form of education, which became unaffordable for the family. A year later, Tarannik entered two theater schools simultaneously: Shchepkinskoye and Shchukinskoye.

“Choosing an educational institution was painful; there was little I liked. And my mother suggested that I at least try to make my childhood dream come true. I went to preparatory courses at VGIK, because Batalov, whom I adored since childhood, took the course there. True, I didn’t go there in the end, because they offered to study on a paid basis, and my mother and I couldn’t afford it... I got a job as a secretary at a real estate agency, and the next year I went straight to the Shchukinsky and Shchepkinsky schools, and on a budgetary basis. I made the choice in favor of “Sliver”, which I have never regretted. We had an amazing course, wonderful instructors. And a huge thank you to Larisa Ivanovna Grebenshchikova, who did a lot for me as a young actress; after all, thanks to her, I ended up at RAMT; it was she who invited Alexei Vladimirovich Borodin to watch me,” says the artist. In 2008 she graduated from VTU named after M.S. Shchepkina, teacher Viktor Korshunov. Thanks to her course leader, Irina became interested in the theater scene: “At first I wanted to work in cinema, but when I took the course with Viktor Ivanovich Korshunov, I sincerely fell in love with the theater. Moreover, Viktor Ivanovich did not allow us to act in films until a certain moment; he wanted us to learn at least something first. And now, of course, it’s good to work in both theater and cinema. But if an actor only works in films, he may lose the skill. But in the theater you are constantly rehearsing something and are in uniform all the time.”

New life

In 2000, she and her parents moved to Moscow. Even then, Irina decided on her future profession. The girl signed up for preparatory courses at VGIK. She wanted to get into the group that Alexei Batalov was recruiting. But that did not happen. Ira was offered another option - to study in a paid department. However, the family's financial situation could not support one more expense.

Our heroine got a job as a secretary in one of the real estate agencies. She worked there for a year. In her free time, the girl prepared to enter a theater university. And she succeeded. Ira became a student at VTU named after. Shchepkina. In 2008, she was awarded a university diploma. Almost immediately I got a job in the RAMT troupe. On the stage of this theater, actress Irina Tarannik performed many bright roles. For example, in the production of “The Shore of Utopia,” the beauty successfully got used to the image of Lyuba Bakunina. For this role she was even awarded the Moskovsky Komsomolets award.

Theater

Irina Tarannik’s graduation work was the production “Summer and Smoke”. She played the role of one of the main characters. For the success of her transformation in this performance, the artist received her debut award - the Golden Leaf Award.

“This role of mine had everything. And I understand that, perhaps, I played it only thirty percent - as much as I can due to my age and experience. This is an amazing play, Tennessee Williams is an amazing playwright who has an amazing sense of female nature! The main character I play is a Puritan, the daughter of a priest, very conservative. She has been in love with the same man since her school years. Then he leaves to study in another city, and when he returns, my heroine realizes that this is the man of her life. But she cannot attract him as she is. He invites her to take everything from life, to give freedom to her feelings. She's not ready. And when she gradually comes to his position in life, it’s too late - he loves someone else. The play does not directly say this, but she becomes a prostitute because she missed her love.

In this play, my heroine often behaves quite funny, she has very cutesy manners. And somehow at first I was afraid to be funny on stage, but now I understand how right it is that in the first act the audience laughs at my heroine, and in the second they mourn her unfortunate fate,” explains Irina.

After completing his studies, Tarannik was invited to work at RAMT (Russian Academic Youth Theater). She is involved in such productions as: “The Coast of Utopia” - Lyubov Bakunina, “Red and Black” - Eliza, “Chekhov-Gala” - Dashenka, “The Musketeers” - Queen, “The Prince and the Pauper” - Elizabeth and others.

The actress and her mother are still watching an old video of her first appearance on stage. It seems that it was then that she, a 10-year-old girl, “prophesied” her future. The young contestants were tasked with imagining who they would be at 25 years old. The girls imagined themselves as doctors and teachers, and Ira “saw herself” as a movie star who turned down Steven Spielberg himself because she was already busy with Nikita Mikhalkov. Probably, at the moment when the “Sulina star” heard the applause of the audience, the thought of an acting career came to her for the first time.

Then Irina Tarannik saw her mother’s friend performing on the stage of a local theater. The woman worked as a realtor, but in her free time she played in the theater. The girl watched the play “Family Portrait with a Stranger” in one breath.

Cinema

Irina Tarannik’s debut film work was a supporting role in the film “The Game in Reverse.” In 2010, she played the main character Asya in the film “Mine. Exploded love." Irina also starred in the following projects: “Weaknesses of a strong woman”, “What to do with the heart”, “Make a gainer”.

"You were loved"

A year later, Irina was again invited to play the leading role in Alexander Kiriyenko’s melodrama “You Was Beloved” based on the script by Yusup Razykov and Ivela Karpitskaya. Plot: Pavel Gromov (Andrey Chadov) works as a senior mate on a Russian scientific vessel that is on an expedition. His beloved Lena (Irina Tarannik), who is expecting his child, goes on the expedition with him. Their future is clear and serene - upon returning home they are going to get married. But Pavel is not the only one who claims Lena’s heart: ship mechanic Gleb (Nikolai Machulsky), Pavel’s friend, has long been in love with her. The film also starred: Andrei Chadov, Nikolai Machulsky, Nina Kurpyakova, Maxim Kostromykin.

In the same year, Irina created the image of ballerina Natalia Bessmertnova in the biographical film Furtseva. The Legend of Catherine".

The actress gained real popularity thanks to two melodramas, “I Thought You Would Always Be There” and “The Village Teacher.”

"Love is like a natural disaster"

In 2020, Dmitry Petrun’s mini-series “Love as a Natural Disaster” was released to viewers. Her heroine is Irina Gureeva. Plot: The family life of Irina Gureeva (Irina Tarannik) is not going very well. Her husband Vadim (Vladimir Motashnev), an entomologist, is completely immersed in work and spends all his time on long expeditions. He dreams of finding a rare butterfly that is found only in Ecuador. Irina can only wait for her husband’s return.

But a chance meeting with her school sweetheart, classmate Alexander Morozov (Alexander Ratnikov), changes Irina’s well-established life. Succumbing to her old feelings, she spends the night with Alexander and soon realizes that she is pregnant.

The following people worked on the set with Tarannik: Ksenia Lavrova-Glinka, Artem Tkachenko, Andrei Leonov, Alexander Ratnikov, Vladimir Motashnev, Alexey Veselkin, Anastasia Ukolova. Then the artist starred in such films as: “Fate Called Love”, “Photo for a Bad Memory”, “I Never Cry”, “Kaleidoscope of Fate”, “On the Edge of Love”.

“Only the heart is vigilant”

In 2020, the actress played the role of Marina in the melodrama “Only the Heart is Vigilant,” directed by Kira Angelina. In the center of the plot: Marina (Irina Tarannik) is a happy wife and mother. On her birthday, she learns that her husband Denis (Konstantin Solovyov) has a young mistress (Alexandra Vlasova). Everything Marina believed in turns out to be a lie!

However, Denis cynically makes it clear that he is not ready to give up either his mistress or his family. He is happy with this life and doesn’t want to change anything.

Marina tries to leave, but her husband does not give her a divorce. He decides to prove that Marina will not live by her own rules... Irina’s partners in the film were: Konstantin Solovyov, Sergei Lanbamin, Alexandra Vlasova. The actress's filmography includes more than 30 film roles.

Irina Tarannik now

At the beginning of 2020, the actress played the role of a sophisticated school teacher in the melodrama “I Never Cry.” The plot of the film begins with the fact that the ex-husband returns to the main character’s house, with a new passion and a child. When a man's lover runs away, he begins to try to improve his relationship with his ex-wife.

Irina Tarannik in the film “I Never Cry”

In the spring of the same year, the actress played the main role in another melodrama, “Kaleidoscope of Fate.” Here Irina Tarannik got the role of a principled investigator. A woman is investigating the case of a drunk driver who hit a schoolgirl. The girl is in a coma, and the matter seems completely clear, but then the parents of the criminal major intervene in the investigation, offering bribes and threatening the investigation in order to prevent their son from going to prison.

The main character does not agree to indulge the major and refuses any offers, because she herself once suffered in a similar situation. A drunk driver killed her husband.

At the end of the year, the actress appeared in another melodrama, “On the Edge of Love,” where she also played the main role. The actress's heroine has a happy family: her husband is a surveyor and her beloved son. Family relationships begin to crumble when a woman’s first love returns to the city, and the husband begins to constantly be jealous of his wife’s former boyfriend.

In 2020, the actress appeared on the screens again, this time in a crime mini-series with elements of melodrama. The actress played the role of the young widow Natasha. A woman's husband died in a car accident immediately after a heated argument, so the woman blames herself for her husband's death and constantly thinks what would have happened if she had listened to her husband or made peace with him before the ill-fated trip. Suddenly the heroine finds out that her loved one was not at all who he said he was. This news not only shocks the heroine, but also adds criminal problems to her life.

And the actress’s next film was a series of a genre atypical for Irina Tarannik’s role. The actress began filming the sci-fi film “Better Than People.” The series will tell about life in the near future, where android robots helping people with housework and working as personal security guards and drivers have become commonplace.

Personal life

The actress is married. While studying at the Shchepkinsky School, she met fellow student Denis Vasiliev. Since then, the lovers have not parted. In the summer of 2014, the artists got married. The wedding ceremony took place in a suburban area in the Moscow region. The couple are raising baby Taisiya, who was born in October 2015.

In their free time, Irina and Denis prefer to relax in nature: “When I have time, I go to the village, and during the week I go to the park with the dogs. I have two of them: a golden retriever and a toy terrier. I also started learning Italian. I use every opportunity to learn something new. It seems to me that I have some kind of strange connection with Italy: maybe I was Italian in a past life? I love knitting. My girlfriends wear my scarves and hats. I really like to make something with my own hands and then give it as a gift. There are so many amazing things in life that you can do with your own hands! I suffer terribly because I can’t draw; somehow I haven’t been good at it since childhood. Sometimes you want to depict something beautiful, but it just doesn’t work out.”

Interview

About the theater

“Probably, I live only in the theater. But I have work not only at RAMT. There is “Summer and Smoke” and also an independent work “Luboff” based on the play by Murray Shizgal, which we did with two of my classmates. And the director was Dmitry Zenichev, an actor at the Maly Theater and also a graduate of Korshunov. We bought the decorations with our own money, since there weren’t many of them: a bench, a lamppost and a trash can. We rented premises in the Vysotsky House-Museum and in the cultural center “On Petrovskie Lines”, and played there. The production itself seems to be in the spirit of a banal love triangle, but has the character of a tragic farce. That is, everything is supposedly very fun and funny, but in fact people are talking about serious things. This performance also has a lot of fans, but now there is simply no opportunity to perform it, the guys are busy. From time to time I try to act somewhere, but if I am offered some long-term projects, I make a choice in favor of the theater. Besides, I simply didn’t have time; I’ve been at RAMT since my third year. And it’s very cool that I’m so lucky to be employed in the theater.”

About the roles

“I would play Alice in Wonderland, although I already embodied this image to some extent in Think of Us.” I also really like the fairy tale “Ole-Lukoje”. Usually all the girls in children's fairy tales are very pretty and kind, but I want to play something else, something typical in a fairy tale, maybe the fox Alice in "Pinocchio" or the robber in "The Snow Queen" ... I don't want to be portrayed as the cliche of Turgenev's young lady "

About children's productions

“For me, for example, it turned out to be a big problem to play children’s plays. When I was introduced to The Prince and the Pauper, I first watched it from the audience and observed the reaction of the children, who could loudly say: “Look, the swords are not real, and they are not really fighting!” And how can you do it so that even a child will believe it? It is very difficult. Children react to everything very directly. And at the same time, it’s very touching when children really like your work. When I played Swallow in Dunno for the first time, immediately after the performance there was a meeting of our Family Club, and then they brought me a drawing from one girl “for Swallow.” I still have it hanging above the table in my dressing room, because praise from children is worth a lot.

And, by the way, while there wasn’t a single children’s play that I rehearsed from the very beginning, I had input all the time. Although introducing a new artist is always exciting, and sometimes it’s even good for the performance.”

Love of reading

“I love books, I have an insane amount of them at home. That’s why I recently bought myself an e-reader, thinking it would save space on my bookshelf and in my bag. Not entirely successful...

And just as there are things that can lift my spirits, there are also things that can just make me cry in a second. One day I was leaving the entrance, walking down the street and suddenly I saw that there were some books in the trash containers. Of course, I understand that going through a garbage dump is bad and all that, but when I saw what kind of books were lying there! Shakespeare's Hamlet, Baratynsky's collected works, Blok, Goethe's Faust! And I began to dig them out in this garbage, took them out, shedding tears, brought them home, and said: “Mom, how is this possible?!” For some reason, people decided that they didn’t need the books, and they were in good condition. This is, of course, a nightmare...

Fortunately for me, I studied diligently at the institute and read the entire literature program, but I still try to fill in some gaps. If I hear about some interesting work that I have not read, then I go to the library or store and take that book. Now I have a great thirst for reading.

I often reread Dostoevsky. When you read “Crime and Punishment” at school, it’s just to get away. And when even five years later, it’s completely different. When I read The Brothers Karamazov at school and got to Ivan’s famous monologue, I couldn’t read further. This affected me so much, I thought, am I really such a weak believer in God that I can be so easily knocked down. I decided to share my experiences with the teacher. She said: “You know, I can’t read any further, it seems to me that if I now take Ivan’s side, something in me, as a person, will break.” He replied: “Pull yourself together and read on, read what Alyosha will answer to Ivan.” And indeed, I somehow dealt with it, I realized that faith can be stronger and should not be influenced by emotions. I re-read this book later. Dostoevsky and Lermontov are two of my favorite writers.”

About material

“I grew up in a not at all rich family. There was a time when there was not enough money even for food, but at the same time I did not feel unhappy. Therefore, money is not the main thing for me. When they exist, it’s good simply because you can feel freer in some way, although this is also such a deception that I’ll have a lot of money and I’ll be free. This is not entirely true. I now have one very big “headache”: I want to earn money just to buy a house where my relatives will live.”
