The girl was born in the city of Zheleznodorozhny. Her parents divorced when she was one year old. Sveta does not remember her father: he stopped communicating with his daughter and did not provide financial assistance. Tatyana Vladimirovna raised her child alone.
Sveta was shy and quiet as a child. To get rid of her complexes and make friends at the lyceum, she enrolled in a school at a modeling agency. There, young girls were taught to walk on the catwalk, maintain beautiful posture, and were helped to develop diction and communication skills. In her free time from studying, she helped her mother at work: she washed floors and painted walls.

For a long time the girl could not choose her future profession. She dreamed of studying surgery, but entered an economics university in the advertising department. Already in her second year, Svetlana drew attention to the podium. She already had a basic education, received at the courses of the famous fashion designer Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Zaitsev. However, she knew the downside of this business and understood how difficult it would be to achieve serious results.

In 2002, unexpectedly for everyone, she enrolled in preparatory courses at the Shchukin Theater School, which is known among students as “Pike.” Khodchenkova was lucky: she was not only accepted without additional exams, but a couple of months later she was invited to the first casting for the main role.

Bless the woman
Svetlana made her debut in the film by Stanislav Govorukhin. The director, without hesitation, gave her the central role - the girl ideally suited the image of the Slavic beauty. The plot of the film develops around the relationship between an officer and 18-year-old Vera Laricheva. In an interview, the actress admits that her first job was difficult for her: every day she had to put on makeup to make her character look older, and for the episode of swimming in the river she had to completely undress.

Inspired by the success of his previous work, Stanislav Sergeevich invited Svetlana to a new project, again in the main role. A scandal broke out in the press: they were suspected of having an affair. The actress wanted to sue the journalists, but the director dissuaded her, advising her to be philosophical. The script is based on the novel of the same name from the 50s by the popular writer Vladimir Dudintsev. The heroine of the actress Nadezhda Drozdova leaves her rich but callous husband for a poor inventor and school teacher.

Khodchenkova’s debut on the international stage was the British project of Thomas Alfredson. It is based on the 1974 book Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy by John Le Carré. This is a story about British intelligence, in whose leadership a spy from the USSR appeared. The Russian actress found herself on the same set with Gary Oldman, Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hardy. She played Irina, the daughter of a Soviet intelligence officer.

In the film by Valeria Gai Germanika, the actress received the role of Alexandra. Initially, she did not plan to sign the contract. She came to the audition only to meet the famous director, but Gai Germanika convinced her to go through with the casting. Sasha is a divorced young girl who lives with her mother and raises her son. She and three other women talk about their lives and problems in love.

In the disaster film by Anton Megerdichev, viewers can see the actress in the image of Irina Garina. A woman is torn between her feelings for her husband, surgeon Andrei, and her rich lover Vlad. The two lovers were played by famous actors Anatoly Bely and Sergei Puskepalis. According to the scenario, all three get into trouble - the metro tunnel is flooded with river waters. People with different characters and shortcomings will have to unite in order to survive. It is based on the novel of the same name by Dmitry Safonov.

Wolverine: Immortal
In 2013, Khodchenkova starred in the acclaimed Hollywood film “The Wolverine” directed by James Mangold. This film is the sixth part of the X-Men film series, dedicated to the heroes of the 1982 Marvel comics. The superhero Logan (or Wolverine) was played by the famous American actor Hugh Jackman. Svetlana got the secondary role of doctor Victoria Green. In an interview for OK magazine, she says that Jackman gave her advice, helped her get into character, and they even sang karaoke together.

The end of a wonderful era
This film became Govorukhin's last directorial work. The script is based on the writer’s collection of stories “Compromise,” dedicated to the “thaw” period – the first ten years after the death of Joseph Stalin. The story develops around the journalist Lentulov, who leaves for Soviet Estonia. Stanislav gave the role of editor Marina, Andrei’s lover, to Khodchenkova, who he discovered in 2003.
The film was nominated for the Golden Phoenix Award.
Dovlatov
Following Stanislav Govorukhin, the dedication to Dovlatov was filmed by director Alexey German Jr. Svetlana got the role of Sergei’s friend. This is a story about the poet's life in Leningrad in the 70s. The script was agreed upon with the writer’s family – daughter Elena and widow Ekaterina. The main character was played by Serbian actor Milan Maric.

Godunov
One of the most aristocratic images of the actress is Tsarina Maria Skuratova-Belskaya in the film by Alexander Adrianov. The action develops during the period between the reign of Ivan the Terrible and the accession to the throne of the Romanov dynasty. Boyarin Godunov, Maria's wife, was played by the popular actor Sergei Bezrukov.
Critics noted the superbly recreated interiors of that era, high-quality costumes, and original 16th-century props. Filming took place in ancient Russian cities: Suzdal, Vladimir and historical districts of Moscow.

In 2020, several works featuring Svetlana will be released. In the Russian-Bulgarian thriller “She Has Another Name,” the girl played Lisa. According to the plot, she left her newborn child in an orphanage in her youth, but a car accident forced the woman to reconsider her life values. She goes in search of her daughter. This is one of the most anticipated domestic films. Its author is Veta Geraskina. The actress also starred in the film “Moscow in Love,” the release date of which has not yet been announced.
