Ilya was born into a Moscow intelligent family. The actor admits that he had a wonderful childhood. He is grateful to his parents, who literally enveloped their children in love, making every effort to raise them.
“They gave their whole lives to raise us, support us and strengthen us. Outwardly, everything was as usual with us, but inside, this parental love - it touches me to tears,” says Ilya Lyubimov.
Our mother is a philologist, translator, specialist in English language and literature, and also fluent in French. Dad, as a talented designer, spent his entire life promoting the domestic military aircraft industry at the famous Sukhoi Design Bureau.
By the way, like my dad, I was strong in mathematics and for a long time wanted to become a programmer. However, all sciences were easy for me. He also found a common language with music - the boy from a good family, of course, graduated from music school.
My parents sent the energetic child to the Young Muscovite Theater under the direction of Alexander Tyukavkin, where my older brother Oleg had already studied for several years.
Looking ahead, I will say that following the path trodden by my brother, I entered GITIS, as a free student in the “Pyotr Fomenko Workshop” (Oleg was already playing for the famous master in the theater at that time). At the same time, he completed his final years of school as an external student. And at twenty-one he became an actor in the same theater. That is, my biography looks quite beautiful.”
Biography of Ilya Lyubimov
Ilya was born in Moscow into the family of a talented designer Pyotr Yakovlevich. His mother was a researcher. Ilya has an older brother who devoted himself to directing.
In 1985, the future actor entered secondary school No. 1011, but studied there only until 1992. The reason for this was his passion for acting. Ilya’s mother once pushed him towards him, sending her son to the theater of a young Muscovite in 1988. Ilya’s mentor there was Alexander Tyukavkin.
My passion for theater became stronger every year. And his excellent abilities and natural talent quickly brought the young actor to the forefront among his fellow children's theater students.
Foreseeing a successful theatrical future for Lyubimov, the mentor constantly increased the workload. As a result, theater rehearsals and high school classes became almost impossible to combine. That is why, through the efforts of Tyukavkin and the director of the children's theater, Ilya was transferred to the school named after E.A. Yamburg. The teaching load was much less, and the lesson times were as convenient as possible for combining with rehearsals.
That same year, Ilya decided that for a stable future it was important to acquire an additional profession. In this, Lyubimov decided to follow his father’s example and entered the Lyceum at Moscow State University, Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics. But after studying there for only 1 year, Ilya learns that groups of free students are recruiting for Pyotr Fomenko’s acting course at GITIS at the directing department. And already in 1993 Lyubimov switched to external studies, and devoted most of his time to Fomenko’s electives.
While still studying at GITIS, Lyubimov was lucky enough to play several serious roles. His work in the films was positively assessed not only by viewers, but also by serious television critics. Thanks to this, in 1997 he was accepted into the main cast of the Fomenko Workshop Theater troupe. Here he regularly participates in large-scale productions.
Ilya received his first serious theater awards in 2000 and 2001. The first of them was “The Seagull” for the best partner work in the play “Family Happiness”. The next award he was awarded as the best beginning actor. Since then, Lyubimov has practically never left the set.

Lyubimov’s father, Pyotr Zakharovich, ran a store in Okhotny Ryad in Moscow, and his mother worked as a teacher. During the period of repression, the parents were arrested. After finishing seven classes, Yuri Lyubimov, who was not accepted into high school because of his origin, entered the electromechanical technical school. At the same time, he attended a choreographic studio, where he studied according to the methods of Isadora Duncan.
In 1934, Lyubimov was accepted into the studio at the 2nd Moscow Art Theater (2nd Moscow Art Theater; existed from 1924 to 1936). On the stage of this theater he played his first role in the play “A Plea for Life” based on the play by Jacques Deval (1935).
In 1936 he entered the school at the Theater. Evgenia Vakhtangova. While still a student, he was introduced to one of the episodic roles in Vakhtangov’s legendary play “Princess Turandot”. He played on the stage of the theater Claudio (“Much Ado About Nothing”), Felix (“Straw Hat”) and others.

After demobilization in 1946, Yuri Lyubimov returned to the Theater. Evg. Yuri Lyubimov’s first directorial experience dates back to 1959: on the stage of the Vakhtangov Theater he staged the play “How Much Does a Man Need” based on the play by Alexander Galich.
In parallel with his work in the theater, Yuri Lyubimov acted in films. His filmography includes about 18 films: including “Color Film Novels” (1941), “Days and Nights” (1945), “Restless Household” (1946), “Robinson Crusoe” (1947), “Kuban Cossacks” (1950) , “Egor Bulychev and others” (1953), “A few words in honor of M. de Moliere” (1975), etc.
At the end of the 1950s. began teaching at the B.V. Theater School. Shchukin. In 1963, he staged the play “The Good Man from Szechwan” with third-year students. "Don't be born beautiful"
The actor’s first success came in 2005 with the release of the melodrama “Don’t Be Born Beautiful.” This is a remake of the American television series "Falling in Love in New York".
According to the plot, Katya (Nelly Uvarova), the main character of the film, confidently rises up the career ladder. And at this time, unexpectedly, she is overtaken by... love. Katya is dizzy with happiness, but suddenly she realizes that she was only a secret weapon in a dishonest game.
The artist was offered the role of the main villain Alexander Voropaev without any audition, and he immediately agreed. Ilya himself explains this by saying that it’s interesting to play negative characters. And the fact that he had to make some sacrifices - first of all, to dye his hair red - Lyubimov accepted without problems.
“The role of Voropaev is very interesting to me, just as glamorous scoundrels are generally interesting. I think that in their hearts every man would like to be at least a little in the place of my hero. After all, what is a negative character? This is a character denied by other people who do not accept the logic of their actions. Voropaev is a businessman, a man of action, and willy-nilly he has to weave intrigues. He knows how to transcend personal attachments, moral obligations, moral principles,” notes the actor.
Filming for the project took about a year. Lyubimov admits that he gained a rich and unique experience: “Working in the rhythm of a sitcom is a good school for an actor. I kept comparing it to the first year of college: I quickly received an assignment, and quickly had to produce the result. At any stage of acting training (which lasts, in my opinion, until your death, glorious or inglorious), such trainings are extremely useful. The next milestone work of Ilya Lyubimov was the social drama “20 Cigarettes” directed by Alexander Gornovsky. His character, advertising manager Andrei, is repeatedly forced to make important decisions in one day.
Andrey finds himself in a situation where his career, family, and relationships with friends are at risk. During this day he smokes a pack of cigarettes, and each cigarette is a small choice that the hero has to make. Every decision is not easy for him, because he has to fight temptations, in essence, fight his own weakness. On December 26, 1990, the leadership of the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company banned the airing of the New Year's edition of “Vzglyad” - the authors of the program wanted to film a story about the resignation of USSR Foreign Minister Eduard Shevardnadze. The diplomat then announced his resignation from the USSR Foreign Ministry “in protest against the impending dictatorship.”
After the closure of “Vzglyad,” the presenters continued to make the program illegally, called “View from the Underground.” They sent the footage on cassette tapes to regional studios.

In 1990-1993, the journalist was a people's deputy of the RSFSR. His powers ended in September 1993, when President Boris Yeltsin dissolved parliament.
At the same time, “Red Square” was closed, and Lyubimov, who served as president of VID, transferred leadership to Listyev.
“The year 1993 was problematic for me,” said Lyubimov, “the hunt had already begun for me specifically. And we decided that I needed to step into the shadows a little from my post as head of the VID. Vladik replaced me to save the company. And two years later he was killed.”

On the difference between RBC and Dozhd (AiF, October 2017): “If Channel One and Rossiya 1 are means of propaganda, then the Dozhd TV channel, in my opinion, is a means of counter-propaganda. The creative team at Dozhd is talented, but they share the following position: since the state controls and cynically exploits 90% of the information market, we will be an alternative. Since I speak English well, I became a spokesman for Vzglyad for foreign colleagues. This turned into a separate job; I regularly went on air on various television companies around the world. Accordingly, I introduced a tax. The subscription was paid for with Betacam video cassettes. The bourgeoisie used them two or three times and threw them away because it was believed that the film was demagnetized. And we recorded in a circle, thirty to forty times each. For one-time interviews, I used thermal fax paper. It was also a terribly scarce product!”
