There were many books in the architect's house. The younger Kaloev spent his childhood with them. From a young age, his parents noticed his talent. Already at the age of 5, the boy recited poems, which his older sisters and brothers did not do.
He graduated from school with excellent marks, then studied at a construction college and upon graduation went to serve in the army. After service, Vitaly decided to get a higher education.
While receiving his education, the architect worked part-time as a foreman, where the team took a major part in the construction of a small military camp in Vladikavkaz.
Biography
The Kaloyevs' house was full of books. Vitaly spent his childhood with them. His parents noticed his talent from an early age: already at the age of 5 he could recite a poem by heart, something his brothers and sisters could not boast of.
Kaloev graduated from high school with honors. Next will be:

- After the army, Vitaly receives a higher education. He graduates from the Faculty of Architecture at the North Caucasus Mining and Metallurgical Institute.
Already during his studies, Vitaly began to earn extra money. He worked as a foreman, and his team is taking part in the construction of a military camp near Vladikavkaz.
Years of study and practice are not in vain, and in the late 80s Kaloev creates his own cooperative engaged in construction. His career goes up and Kaloev is invited to head the construction department in the capital of North Ossetia.

Vitaly met his future wife Svetlana at the bank, where she served as director. And in 1991 the wedding took place. During his family life, Kaloev had a son and a daughter. Tragedy
In the summer, the architect's wife decided to reunite with her husband and children. The flight was canceled and the tickets were never purchased. But within a few hours, the wife manages to purchase a ticket for the malicious Bashkir Airlines flight.
But, unfortunately, Vitaly was never able to see his family. The plane in which Kaloyev’s relatives were flying crashed in Germany. At the time of death, the architect’s son was 11 years old, and his daughter was 4 years old. About 70 people died that day. Many small children were injured.
The cause of the incident was the fault of the Swiss air traffic controller. Unfortunately, Peter Nielsen, who was responsible for the tragedy, was not punished and remained working in his place. The architect tried to achieve justice.

Two planes crashed over Lake Constance. In 2004, Kaloev killed air traffic controller Peter Nielsen, considering him to be responsible for the tragedy. He himself confessed to the crime and was sentenced to eight years in prison. Vitaly himself was born on January 15, 1956 in Ordzhonikidze (Vladikavkaz).
And in 1991 he got married. Then his family died in a plane crash. He was placed in a psychiatric hospital for a year, where his condition was never analyzed. By the way, the common people were for Vitaly’s rightness. And his words at the present time prove that he is in full mental health. In 2014, he married for the second time, but has no children. The architect recently celebrated his anniversary; he turned 60 years old. On this day he received the award “For the Glory of Ossetia”. When asked why he killed the dispatcher, Vitaly replies that his children and grandchildren live happily, and I will no longer have grandchildren or children.

Unlucky flight
Vitaly Kaloev had not seen his family for nine months and was looking forward to their arrival in Spain. He worked successfully in Barcelona and managed to complete the project by the time his family arrived. Svetlana and her children could not buy tickets in Moscow until seats became available on that same Bashkir Airlines plane.
Late at night on July 2, 2002, two planes collided in the skies over southern Germany: a passenger TU-154 and a cargo Boeing 757. Both crews were killed, and children were killed - 52 children aged from 8 to 16 years. Almost all of them were students at the Ufa school for especially gifted children. They were flying to Barcelona. They were awarded vouchers for their academic success and brilliant results in school competitions.

In 2020, the film “Consequence” appeared on television screens, in which Arnold Schwarzenegger played the main and decisive role. The plot itself was based on the tragic events of 2002, and the hero was the prototype of Vitaly Kaloev.
But the architect was not impressed by the film. According to him, the hero who played the main role could not convey the real feelings of a person who has lost his family. Kaloev says that throughout the entire period of the film, Schwarzenegger walked around and asked for something, but in fact, the architect did not ask people for anything at all. He simply demanded a fair apology and a normal investigation from the authorities. He wanted real punishment.
Already in 2020, another similar film appeared on television, which told about all the tragic events of that time. The film was shot in Russia. This time, Dmitry Nagiyev decided to personify Kaloev. Rumors were spread in the media that the architect himself allegedly asked Nagiyev not to show cowardice.
But Vitaly himself denied this information and said that he had not met the actor at all. Only the director of this film had contact with him, with whom the conversation lasted about a few minutes, and that was the end of it.
DAUGHTER'S BEADS
He built the spacious house in which Kaloev now lives with Irina and newborn babies for his other family. The one to whom he now goes to the cemetery. His wife Svetlana, son and daughter are buried in the same grave. If it weren’t for that disaster, the children would now be very big: Kostya is 27, Diana is 17...
In that fateful year of 2002, Vitaly left his native Ossetia to work in Spain to build cottages. For nine months I missed my people incredibly, I was waiting for my wife and children to visit me. Svetlana flew to Moscow, but then she couldn’t buy plane tickets. I begged the ticket office to send them with any transfers. They finally took pity on her and sold three last-minute tickets to Barcelona on a plane that was carrying a large group of teenagers.
A few hours later, the plane crashed in the skies over Germany, colliding with a Boeing cargo plane. Everyone on board died. Including 49 children. Their bodies were scattered over several kilometers near Lake Constance.
Vitaly immediately went to the crash site. Rescuers, seeing a man blackened with grief, allowed him to participate in the search. The distraught father combed the forest along with everyone, and then knelt down and, crying, began to stroke the ground. Some balls fell under his fingers. Raising them to his eyes, Kaloev recognized the pearls from the torn beads of his four-year-old daughter.
The girl's body was found a few minutes later, it was almost unharmed. Vitaly held Diana close to him, and it seemed to him that she was simply sleeping... The 10-year-old son and wife had to be buried in closed coffins, they were so disfigured.
For two years, Vitaly practically lived on the graves of his most beloved people. I couldn't do anything, everything became meaningless. He was waiting for only one thing: the punishment of the guilty. But I didn’t wait...

The place of Vitaly Kaloev’s new wife was taken by Irina, who at that time worked at Sevkavkazenergo as an engineer. The architect has been retired for several years; before this period, Vitaly worked in the construction field in North Ossetia. Vitaly Kaloev’s new wife is 22 years younger than him. Today, joyful children's laughter sounds in the new family.
The architect recently gave birth to twins. Kaloev himself says that everything is fine with the newborns. They were born healthy. My wife feels great, there were no complications.

In 2013, Vitaly started a family for the second time. His chosen one was Irina Dzarasova, who worked as an engineer at OJSC Sevkavkazenergo. She is 22 years younger than her husband.
Two years ago Vitaly retired. As the former head of North Ossetia, Teimuraz Mansurov, told local reporters, “he’s just living the normal life that a man of his age should live. He didn’t bury himself anywhere, didn’t isolate himself from anything. He lives like a real Ossetian, a sage...”
And finally God gave him twins - a boy and a girl. The children were born healthy and feel well, just like their mother Irina.

The terrible tragedy over Lake Constance, which occurred in July 2002, shocked many. Due to a pilot error, a DHL Boeing cargo plane and a Bashkir Airlines passenger airliner, on which Russian children were flying to Spain, collided head-on in the big sky.
Of the 71 victims of the disaster, 52 were children. Among the passengers on the ill-fated flight were the entire family of the architect from North Ossetia Vitali Kaloyev - his wife, 11-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter.
Kaloev was building houses in Spain, did not see his family for a long time, and finally they decided to get out to him... Vitaly was the only one of the parents of the victims of the tragedy who was allowed to the scene of the disaster, where he rushed the next day. Scattered beads from his daughter’s childhood necklace, which he felt with trembling hands in the grass, then became an element of the memorial at the site of the tragedy...
Having buried his family and erected a huge beautiful monument on their grave, he still waited for justice. However, the Swiss one, which flew the planes in the night sky, was in no hurry to apologize. And dispatcher Peter Nielsen was not even fired. For two years, Kaloev, according to his stories, lived in a cemetery. And then he decided to seek justice himself. What happened next is well known and became the plot of two feature films - a Hollywood one with Schwarzenegger in the title role and a Russian one, where Kaloev was played by Dmitry Nagiyev.
Twelve stab wounds inflicted by Kaloev on the Swiss dispatcher, who did not want to apologize for what he had done and chased the Russian out of the yard like a dog, resulted in 8 years in prison. But already in 2007, Kaloev was released for good behavior. He returned to his homeland.
The head of North Ossetia, Taimuraz Mansurov, appointed him Deputy Minister for the Construction of the Republic. Vitaly threw himself into work. He didn’t want to come to the empty beautiful house that was built for a large family.
Under the leadership of Kaloev, many new buildings were built in Vladikavkaz. A television tower was erected on the mountain, to which a cable car stretches, a music and cultural center with an amphitheater and a school for talented children.
