My son’s new hobby especially pleased my mother, who was no longer called to school. Boris's behavior and academic performance have changed. 7 artists who refuse stuntmen
In the film “The Collapse of the Empire” he played the Minister of the Provisional Government Shulgin. The artist was noticed, but real popularity came to him later, in 1979, when the 3-part film “D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers” was released.
After the film was released, everyone who starred in it turned out to be stars of the first magnitude. It is noteworthy that Boris Vladimirovich came up with the stage image of this hero himself. He insisted that Count Rochefort not have a beard, but only its semblance in the form of a neat aristocratic wedge.
Klyuev's next starring role is Mycroft Holmes, Sherlock's brother, in Igor Maslennikov's acclaimed film Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson, released in 1980. Even in the 1990s, Boris Vladimirovich was not left without work. He starred in the films “Queen Margot”, “Countess de Monsoreau”, “The Royal Hunt” and “Genius”.
Career
In addition to filming, he worked at the Shchepkinsky School, teaching acting to students, with the rank of professor. “Raised” Christina Asmus, Yegor Beroev and other celebrities.
Path in the theater
The first place of service was the Maly Theater, where Boris Klyuev served for more than 40 years. His track record includes more than 50 theatrical roles of various types. The most memorable are “King Lear”, “The Thunderstorm”, “Tsar Ivan the Terrible”, “Wolves and Sheep”, “The Businessman”, “A Glass of Water” and others.
The path to the cinema
While still a student, the artist began appearing in films. His debut was the role of a guard in “The Punisher” (1968). Just 2 years later, Boris Vladimirovich starred in leading roles and was in demand in Soviet cinema. The film “The Collapse of the Empire” (1970) and the role of Shulgin became fateful.
Creative talent helped Boris Klyuev survive in the difficult 90s. At this time, famous films about “Queen Margot”, “Genius”, “Alaska Kid”, “The Royal Hunt”, “Schizophrenia”, “Countess de Monsoreau” were released.
The new millennium began with participation in crime series (“D.D.D.”, “Gangster Petersburg”, “Kamenskaya”), followed by work in feature films. Klyuev was never left without a project for a single year, and the sitcom “Voronins” brought success in his old age.

The only son, Alexei, born in 1969, died in his early youth - at the age of 24 - from heart failure, the same disease from which Boris Klyuev’s father suddenly passed away. As far as the press knows, the actor has no other children. The son did not have time to start his own family, so he did not leave his father and mother any grandchildren.
Cinema
The actor made his film debut in the late 60s as a German officer in Villen Azarov’s film “The End of Saturn.” Then he played State Duma deputy Shulgin in the historical film “The Collapse of the Empire” and Prince Belsky in “Walking Through Torment.”
"Three Musketeers"
The artist gained national fame with the release of one of the most popular adventure films of the late 70s, “D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers,” directed by Georgy Yungvald-Khilkevich.
This is a wonderful musical film based on the famous novel by Alexandre Dumas. Four musketeer friends save the honor of the Queen of France, engage in single combat with the all-powerful Cardinal Richelieu and the treacherous Milady, and most importantly, enjoy life.
Boris Vladimirovich played the role of the impressive, sophisticated Count Rochefort. He says about working in a film: “Sometimes you can star in what you think is a brilliant movie with excellent partners and an outstanding director, and the film will go unnoticed. And vice versa: you don’t expect anything, but the picture takes off. This is exactly what happened with the film "D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers", the role in which - Count Rochefort - brought me my first popularity. Nobody thought that the audience would love the film so much! And thanks to this picture I got a lot of fans.”
The actor’s popularity was enhanced by the delicately created image of Mycroft Holmes, the brother of the famous detective, in the series of films “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson” by Igor Maslennikov.
"TASS is authorized to declare"
In the series of military men, officials, nobles and celebrities played by the artist in the 80s, it is worth noting the most stellar role - the spy Trianon in the adventure television series "TASS is authorized to declare" by Vladimir Fokin. A political detective story based on the story by Yulian Semenov about the activities of Soviet counterintelligence, trying to prevent a coup organized by the CIA in one of the African countries friendly to the USSR, and exposing an American agent in Moscow.
Together with the artist, such masters of domestic cinema as Vyacheslav Tikhonov, Yuri Solomin, Vakhtang Kikabidze, Alexey Petrenko, Georgy Yumatov, Irina Alferova, Ivar Kalnynsh, Leonid Yarmolnik and others played in the film.
The actor about his participation in the film: “TASS is authorized to declare...” changed my self-esteem and my life. Ironically, I almost turned down this role - after all, playing a spy in the USSR was not entirely beneficial for my reputation. And I hesitated: I was afraid of future problems. But suddenly I was overwhelmed with absolutely incomprehensible and stunning success.”
While working on the image of the ship commander von Grapp in the historical film by Alexander Muratov “Moorsund”, based on the novel by Valentin Pikul, Boris Klyuev managed to somehow realize his childhood dream - to serve in the navy. “One day, I essentially “survived” my failed profession,” the artist clarifies.
"Genius"
The unusual role of a homosexual went to the actor in Viktor Sergeev’s perestroika film “Genius” with Alexander Abdulov, who played the inventor Nenashev. At that time, the film was the leader in video distribution of domestic films in Moscow.
Sergei Nenashev is a talented electronics physicist who, due to the current situation in the country, is forced to go into business. Since it is impossible to live on a scientist’s salary, he works as the director of an exemplary vegetable store.
In addition to this harmless activity, Sergei has a “criminal” hobby. Using his ingenious inventions, he blackmails wealthy businessmen who have made their capital through dishonest means. Of course, his activities attract close attention from the police and the mafia. For the time being, Sergei manages to get away from both of them...
The artist says about his hero: “You will be surprised, but for this role I received the audience award. When the film was shown at the House of Cinema, people cried with laughter. My friend, director Vitya Sergeev, invited me to the shooting without specifying what role he had reserved for me. And I didn’t immediately realize who I would play. Well, when I realized, it was too late to refuse. And he played this secret homosexual Arkhipov with humor. Well, since such “happiness” has happened, let it be funny.”
The actor was also remembered by the audience in such films as: “Mikhailo Lomonosov” (Grigory Orlov), “The Life of Berlioz” (Wagner), “The Collapse of the Empire” (Shulgin), “The End of Operation Resident” (agent Bob Stewart), “Special Detachment” appointments" (SS-Hauptsturmführer Martin von Gitel), "Split" (Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich), "Schizophrenia" (Lazovsky) and many others.
In the current century, Boris Klyuev has found himself in great demand among directors of popular TV series: “Turkish March”, “Kamenskaya-2”, “Balzac’s age, or all men are the same...”, “Zemsky Doctor. Continuation", "Veronica. Fugitive”, “Family Circumstances”, “Exchange Brothers”, “Streets of Broken Lanterns”.
"Voroniny"
In recent years, another surge in Boris Vladimirovich’s popularity is associated with the series “Voronin”, in which he plays the central character, the stern head of the family Nikolai Petrovich Voronin, a madman and a domestic tyrant, at the same time an extremely charming person. This work brought the actor the TEFI prize for best actor in 2012.
The Voronins is an adaptation of the American sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond. The story is about a young family: Kostya, Vera and their children - a five-year-old daughter and little twin sons, as well as close relatives - Kostya's parents and his older brother Lena.
The actor said about the role: “Nikolai Petrovich Voronin is a collective image that united people whom I remember well from communal apartments. Father Voronin reminds us of thousands and thousands of fathers of the Soviet period. The grumpy dad is a kind of memory of Moscow courtyards, where people in sweatpants for 7 rubles walked like peacocks. This is about how uncles in the courtyards played dominoes and cards on tables covered with zinc iron. This is reliving a certain collective past, a kind of tribute to a “yellowed” memory. And, by the way, no matter what the audience thinks, simpleton Voronin is more difficult to play than sophisticated aristocrats!
Playing Voronin, I went farthest from myself. Thanks to the role of Voronin in a seemingly ordinary TV series, I begin to understand that I am becoming a master. Professional work in such a way as the father of Kostya and Leni Voronin is characteristic only of a mature person.”
In the new project of the Rossiya TV channel - the grandiose saga of Alexei Andrianov "Godunov" - Boris Klyuev was again offered to play one of the leading roles - Metropolitan Dionysius.
In total, the actor’s filmography includes about 200 bright, diverse roles.
Boris Klyuev now
In 2020, information appeared in the media that Boris Klyuev had cancer. The actor himself at that time refrained from commenting on his state of health. Now he actively continues to act in films and play in the theater. The historical drama “Godunov” was released, in which the actor played the serious role of Metropolitan Dionysius.
7 stars for whom illness did not become an obstacle to life
Boris Vladimirovich also continued filming in the series “Streets of Broken Lanterns”, and celebrated his 75th birthday on the work site of a sitcom about the Voronins.
In 2020, Klyuev officially confirmed that he has lung cancer. According to the performer, the disease does not prevent him from doing what he loves. The actor is undergoing planned treatment. In his free time, he does floristry at his dacha. Boris Vladimirovich periodically communicates with journalists. So, in 2019, he gave an interview in which he said that his colleague, Georgian actor Vakhtang Kikabidze, despite assurances, continues to go to work in Russia. Here the artist holds corporate concerts.

In 1970, the young actor was offered a significant role in the film “The Collapse of the Empire.” This film did not bring him popularity, but directors noticed the talented actor. Job offers soon followed.
Popularity and fame came to Boris Klyuev in 1979, after the film “D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers” was released. In this film, the talented actor played Rochefort. Many viewers liked and remembered the role of Mycroft Holmes in the film “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson.” After this, films and completely diverse roles followed, and the popularity and fame of the talented actor Boris Klyuev only increased.
In the 90s, when many artists were left without work, Boris Vladimirovich continued to act. His roles in such television series as “Kamenskaya” and “Mad” bring him even greater popularity and fame. But most of all, Nikolai Petrovich Voronin, played by Boris Klyuev in the comedy television film “Voronins,” was liked and loved by the audience. This television series was first released in 2009, but is still of interest to viewers.
In 2013, actor Boris Klyuev starred in the famous detective television series “Street of Broken Lanterns.” His hero is Alexey Nikolaevich Merzlyakin, major general, head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Most recently, the popular actor starred in the crime series “Police Saga.” The main characters of this action movie serve in the criminal investigation department.

Boris's hometown is Moscow.
His father was an actor, but died while on tour when the boy was four years old. Mom raised her son herself, without ever getting married. Little Borya was categorically against his mother’s possible marriage. He studied poorly at school and his behavior was unsatisfactory. It is unknown how Klyuev’s future life would have developed if not for the school play in which he got the role of the devil. It was played in such a way that the schoolboy became a real star. This is where his path to the acting profession began. Mom also tried to develop her son. She often went with him to theaters and concerts. The family's financial situation was difficult, which is why the boy started working early. Sometimes he unloaded wagons, and when he turned sixteen, he went to work at a construction site.

Boris wanted to become an actor, but his mother insisted that he receive a technical education. After school, he entered the Shchukinsky school, but took the documents and took them to the Shchepkinsky school, from which he graduated with success. However, due to military service, my studies had to be interrupted. Klyuev went into the army for three years after his first year of training. During his service, the future actor was lucky enough to take part in the filming of the film “War and Peace”, where he, like all his colleagues, was an extra. Also, during his service, Boris had the opportunity to take part in amateur performances, and he took advantage of this opportunity with pleasure.
The last year of service was spent in the orchestra of the Ministry of Defense. Having been demobilized, the future actor completed his studies on the course of L. Volkov and V. Tsigankov.
The role of Count Rochefort
Boris Klyuev as Count Rochefort
- One of the most notable film roles of Boris Klyuev was the role of Count Rochefort, the confidant of Cardinal Richelieu in the musical television film "D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers." Not everyone knows that initially director Georgy Yungvald-Khilkevich supported the candidacy of Mikhail Boyarsky as Count Rochefort[11], so he did not approve Boris Vladimirovich for this image[12]. When Boyarsky was finally approved for the role of d'Artagnan, the director wanted to give Rochefort to one of the Ukrainian artists[13]. But since the film was shot by order of the USSR State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting, the results of all screen tests came from Odessa to Moscow to the higher authorities[12]. And by decision of Goskino, Klyuev was approved for this role, although the director did not like his candidacy[14][15]. However, the actor himself was very dissatisfied with working with Yungvald-Khilkevich, sharing his opinion in an interview: “ I believe that Yungvald-Khilkevich is not a very talented person.
And the picture turned out thanks to the fact that there was a good company, we were all very young, plus the wonderful music of Maxim Dunaevsky. Then something happened there. Despite the fact that, as I believe, already in the second and third episodes the picture sags slightly. The first episode is very good. Personally, I am very dissatisfied with working with Khilkevich. "[12]. During the filming process, Klyuev himself had to work not only on the character of Count Rochefort, but also on his appearance. Initially, the makeup artists wanted to glue a beard on him. But the artist insisted that they leave only a thin line of mustache and a wedge-shaped beard[14][15]. - On the set, Mikhail Boyarsky was seriously injured when they were filming a scene of the Marlezonsky ballet at the Odessa Opera House. Count Rochefort, played by Boris Klyuev, was conceived as a man who never takes his sword out of its scabbard, so there was practically no training in his fencing. But in one scene Klyuev could not stand it and snatched the blade. As a result, his sword pierced Boyarsky’s palate and literally a centimeter did not reach the brain. Fortunately for Boyarsky, there were no serious consequences[16][17]. Boris Klyuev himself commented on the situation as follows: “ We were filming a scene of a triple sword fight between d'Artagnan, Rochefort and de Jussac, played by Vladimir Balon.
We had to cross swords on the stairs, filmed at the Odessa Opera House. When we were rehearsing, everything was going great, but during filming we sped up the pace of the fencing. And so Misha Boyarsky, swinging his blade strongly, pointed my sword straight at his face. She knocked out his tooth and scratched his throat. However, like a true professional, he continued acting. Then I learned that this injury is quite common among fencers "[14][15].
