Boris Shcherbakov, what he is sick with: what is known about his wife

BIOGRAPHY

Boris Shcherbakov was born in Leningrad into a simple working-class family. His father was a taxi driver, and his mother worked at a factory as a winder of transformers. The windows of the communal apartment in which the family lived overlooked the Gulf of Finland. The boy was attracted by the sea from an early age, and he, like many of his peers, dreamed of becoming a sailor. But fate turned out differently. At the age of 12, Boris was cast for the role of Gleb Prokhorov in Nikolai Lebedev’s film “Mandate”. “Working in this film changed my whole destiny. I realized that the sailor’s profession is not the only one,” admits the actor.

After school, Boris entered the Krupskaya Institute of Culture, where he studied to become a director. But after the first year he left for Moscow and transferred to the Moscow Art Theater School on the course of P. Massalsky.

Height, weight, age. How old is Boris Shcherbakov

At the beginning of 2020, the First Russian TV channel aired the program “Alone with Everyone,” the hero of which was Boris Shcherbakov. The popular film actor did not hide anything. He reliably told how he became an actor and what he dreamed of in his childhood. Viewers were able to find out what height, weight, age, and how old Boris Shcherbakov is. The artist himself calls himself a decrepit grandfather; he jokes that his 70th birthday is just around the corner, and therefore his only dream is to prolong the vigor and joy of life as long as possible.

Boris Shcherbakov, whose photos in his youth and now are numerous, was born in the late 40s. He will celebrate his 69th birthday in 2020. But many fans believe that an error has crept into the official information, since the man actively plays on stage and acts in films. With a height of 177 cm, our hero weighs 72 kg.

The actor's uniform suits him very well. During his life, he played a large number of military images.

THEATER

Immediately after graduating from the institute, Boris Shcherbakov was accepted into the Moscow Art Theater troupe. His first work in the theater was the role of Sanka in the play “Steelworkers” directed by O. Efremov, in which Evgeny Evstigneev shone on the same stage with him. The actor remembers this time very warmly: “Tanya (the actor’s wife Tatyana Bronzova - editor’s note) and I are happy people, we also found old people from the Moscow Art Theater: Livanov, Yanshin, Gribov, Kedrov, Ktorov, Tarasova, Massalsky. The Moscow Art Theater was changing before our eyes, the old people received a worthy replacement: the same Evstigneev, Smoktunovsky, Efremov, Kalyagin, Myagkov...”

During his work at the famous Moscow Art Theater, the actor played many roles, including Valentin in the play “Valentin and Valentina”, Zharikov in “Meeting of the Party Committee”, Vlas in “Summer Residents”, Lopakhin in “The Cherry Orchard”, and Trigorin in “The Seagull”.

Boris Shcherbakov devoted more than 30 years to the theater, which became his home. But in 2003, he was forced to leave the Moscow Art Theater, which he does not regret at all: “I am very grateful to Oleg Pavlovich Tabakov for freeing me from work in the repertory theater. Now I'm on my own. I felt the taste of that sweet word “freedom”. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything. No amount of trickery can lure me into the repertory theater. Because the enterprise in which I work requires employment only in the material that interests me. And not the one dictated by repertory theaters.”

MOVIE

After graduating from the institute, Shcherbakov received his second film role - the actor played Sashko in the detective story “Quiet Shores”. At this time, Boris Vasilyevich began to act a lot; he had several new projects a year. He played in the films “I Serve on the Border”, “These Naughty Sons”, “A Moment of Fortune”, “The Investigation is Conducted by Experts”, “Valentin and Valentina”, “Without a Statute of Limitations”, “Aelita, Don’t Molest Men”, and many others. The actor says about his favorite film roles: “Naumov’s film “Ten Years Without the Right of Correspondence” is very dear to me. All films are dear to me, but this film especially. Then there are “Criminal Quartet”, “The Shore”, “Called the Beast”, “Thieves in Law”, “Barkhanov and His Bodyguard”. And “Groom from Miami” is dear to me. These films gave away my time, part of my health, and nerves.”

Boris Shcherbakov can rightfully be considered the most filmed actor of the 90s. Directed by Anatoly Eyramdzhan alone, who was actively working at that time, the actor starred in the films “Groom from Miami”, “The Third is Not the Extra One”, “When Everyone is Your Own”, “Diva Mary”, “Ultimatum”, “Valentine’s Day”, and "Mistress from Moscow".

Today, the actor has more than 150 films under his belt; Boris Shcherbakov can be seen especially often in TV series lately. Viewers remember his work in the films “Soldiers”, “Love Like Love”, “It Was in Gavrilovka”, “Angelica”, “Aerobatics”, “Zhukov”, “Red Queen”, and others. One of the recent works is a role in the multi-part film “Recognize Me If You Can.” The actor’s partners were Ivan Stebunov, Evgenia Loza, Yuri Stoyanov, Sergei Zhigunov, Mikhail Zhigalov, Irina Rozanova, and others.

Family and children of Boris Shcherbakov

The family and children of Boris Shcherbakov currently belong to the artistic community. The actor's wife writes scripts for dramatic productions. The actor’s son followed in the footsteps of his parents and connected his life with cinema. He makes films, the last of which will soon become available to fans of Russian cinema.

Our hero's father was a driver. He worked in a taxi company for many years. A man ran over a pedestrian. The son's first fee was spent on the services of a lawyer who was able to prove that the accident was the fault of the victim himself. Despite this, the artist’s dad blamed himself for the rest of his life. He died in the 80s and was buried in his native Leningrad.

The actor’s mother worked at one of the Leningrad factories. She raised her children, instilling in them a love of art and creativity. After the death of her husband, the woman lost the meaning of life. She was soon diagnosed with a disease that led to her death. She is buried next to her husband.

Shcherbakov has a brother and sister who have their own families. They have nothing to do with creativity. The artist often communicates with loved ones.

CLIPS

Despite the large number of works in films, the actor began to be recognized only after Lyubov Uspenskaya’s videos for the songs “Carousel” and “I’m Losing,” in which Shcherbakov played the role of the main character’s lover. The actor admits: “We have a lot in common with Lyuba. For example, two whole clips! It was after them that we got married. We met in the dressing room before filming the “Carousel” video. She invited me to the video “I’m Losing Myself.” Apparently he liked it. And then my whole situation was revealed to me. I thought: “Borya! Dozens of years of work in theater and cinema are smoke and absolute nonsense compared to this three-minute clip!” I remember walking down the street and hearing women’s voices: “Look, the artist is coming! The one with Uspenskaya...” No last name, no first name. I did not marry Lyuba Uspenskaya. We just played with inspiration!”

Work in the 90s

In the early 90s, when a very difficult time began throughout the country, problems began, including in the world of theater and cinema. No films were made, few productions were staged, and funding was almost completely stopped. Many talented actors were simply kicked out of theater troupes, thereby leaving them without bread and means of subsistence.

Unfortunately, not all actors were able to cope with the loss of their favorite job and simply drank themselves to death. Some people took on any job just to earn a little money and feed their family. Everyone coped as best they could.

Surprisingly, Boris Shcherbakov, unlike most of his colleagues, not only did not lose his job in the 90s, but also acted quite a lot. Since 1990, his filmography has included 3-5 films per year. And even if not all of them were a resounding success, Shcherbakov did not stop working for a day in those years.

PERSONAL LIFE

The actor met his wife Tatyana Bronzova while still studying at the Moscow Art Theater School. The young people formalized their relationship in 1972, and in 1977 their son Vasily was born. Boris Vasilyevich admits: “I consider my wife my guardian angel. I think that thanks to her we saved our marriage. She understood everything correctly, forgave me, and I am very grateful to her for that. We must be able to forgive, understand and hold on to each other, no matter what comes along the way.”

The actor spoke about the details of his personal life in the program “The Fate of a Man with Boris Korchevnikov.”

Muse for life

It was 1968. A student at the Moscow Art Theater, Shcherbakov was minding his own business in the dorm room where he lived, when suddenly there was a knock on the door and a young girl appeared on the threshold. Chiseled figure, black hair, piercing eyes. The girl expressed surprise why there was a man in the room she was assigned. It turned out that the commandant was mistaken. “It’s no problem, let’s live together!” joked young Shcherbakov, spurred on by the beauty of the stranger.

Alas, the beauty had a husband who just appeared behind her. However, the words still came true. Tanya Bronzova came to study at the Moscow Art Theater, also from Leningrad, and took the same course with Borey. The spark that arose at the first meeting between the young Leningraders turned out to be not fleeting. A year later the couple was already dating. And four years later she registered a relationship. Tanya, by that time, of course, was already divorced.

Wedding of young spouses Boris Shcherbakov and Tatyana Bronzova

The artist admits that many were against this marriage. Too handsome, conspicuous, a dandy, not like a practical family man, Boris Shcherbakov, unpredictable, agile, seemed not at all a match for the thoughtful, rational Tatyana, far from youthful nonsense. But this is what actually became the basis of a strong marriage. By 2018, husband and wife Shcherbakov have been together for 45 years; they went to the registry office back in 1973.

The spouses do not hide the fact that their union has always been turbulent and heated. The handsome husband was amorous, like any real artist, and there were always many fans around. Temptations were at every turn, and the open, friendly Borya could not refuse friends for long gatherings, or succumbed to a theatrical romance. The wise wife survived everything and accepted everything wisely. Although she didn’t let him down, she strictly taught her husband to respect himself and his family.

Boris Vasilyevich idolizes his Tatyana Vasilievna because she was able to wisely treat the mistakes of the actor’s youth and saved his family for him. Today they are a happy, married couple, living a full, interesting life for each other. In 1977, his beloved son Vasily was born. There is nothing to prove anymore, and there is nothing to be afraid of. Time-tested love has shown its strength.

But then it was ahead, and while the young couple signed to get a large family room, they had been living together for a long time anyway. The Moscow Art Theater school was already completed by this time. The couple joined the theater troupe together.

INTERVIEW

About Me

“I am an optimist by nature. Whatever is done is for the better. This is my life credo."

About the profession

“I consider myself an actor who performs his work artistically. And if you do your job wonderfully, it means that you are also an artist in your profession.”

About the roles

“I have not played and will not play Hamlet and Richard III, although I dreamed of them. I'm waiting for King Lear. Maybe I’m annoyed by the lack of interesting offers in cinema, but I reassure myself that trying to change my fate is useless. “Absolutely everything—victories and defeats—is given from above.”

The secret of family happiness

“It seems to me that the basis of my marriage with Tatyana is the trust, understanding and love that unites us. She's my back. At the same time, she is my biggest critic, and I really like that too. I can’t imagine my life without her.”
